Center for Digital Storytelling
The growth of the Web has spurred the popularity of a new literary genre known as digital storytelling. A digital story can be told in a series of linked but discrete sections; in a text that is full of rich links (almost like footnotes); with images or with sounds attached. The main thing is that it involves some interactivity, and that the experience of each reader can be different depending on how and in what order they read the story. The place to find the best of this genre is through the site dedicated to the genre's annual festival, The Center for Digital Storytelling.

MysteryNet
If classic mysteries are your thing, then the Online Mystery Network is the site for you. There is enough here to satisfy everyone of all ages, from the casual mystery fans to diehard enthusiasts. MystertyNet has plenty of information about the history of the genre, teaching it, or studying it. It also has online interactive mystery 'soaps' everyday.

The Post WWII American Literature and Culture Database
Discovering a reliable compendium of online resources for the field of modern literature and popular culture didn't exist, Annalee and Freya, PhD students at UC Berkeley, set out to create The Post WWII American Literature and Culture Database. It is a great resource featuring links to other, quality Web sites devoted to the various sub-genres of writing, to bibliographies, dissertations and specialist library collections.

The Fray
"Don't just tell us a story, tell us why it's important and how it affected you". Based on his own words Derek Powazek's zine "The Fray" is one of the most respected sites of original writing online specializing in publishing short, well written excerpts from people's lives. The Fray has been marked as being one of the best literary sites at finding new writing talent and graphically influential with its creative Web design.

Octavo
Octavo's aim is to make extremely rare and valuable books available to a wide readership. The way Octavo is doing this is by using the very latest in digital imaging technology to record each page of a rare book and then offer those pages to readers at a very reasonable price. The files these images produce are enormous and at the moment offered best via CD-ROM. However, as the Internet develops and bandwidth increases, the publishers of Octavo hope that the Web will become a major route of distribution for this medium.
