"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us now, at philadelphia police headquarters, with more on that abduction. jan, good morning. >> reporter: erika, ukee, good morning. a full investigation is now underway, into the kidnapping of this 22 year old woman, police say, they've gotten tips about this case, but so far, nothing has pants out. now, that is why they're offering this reward. and, as they continue to search, this victim's family is making a plea to her captor. >> just let my daughter go. whatever it takes, i don't care, just let her go. >> and bring her back safely, that's all, we just want her to come back safely. >> reporter: desperate plea from the family of carlesha freeland-gaither, why someone would take her. >> why her? and who can do such a thing? >> reporter: the 22 year old last seen just before 10:00 o'clock sunday night here on the 100 block of west colter street in germantown.

her kidnapping, every frightening moment of it, was caught on camera. her attacker parks his car, gets out, and goes back to grab freeland-gaither. she fights the entire time. eventually she's thrown in the back of the car. she did all she could do get away. police say she even kick out both rear windows before the vehicle sped away. >> it was sickening, that's the only thing you can say. >> an eyewitness who didn't want to appear on camera tells "eyewitness news" he was across the street when he heard freeland-gaither's screams for help. >> help me, help me, like, get him off of me, but i couldn't really do too much. >> reporter: he called 9911 saying her abductor had a large knife. police recovered friedlander gator's glasses and cell phone, and had this video, but need more help. now offering a $10,000 reward. >> we're going to pray for her to get the will, the strength, and the courage, to fight her way out. >> reporter: and it is obvious in that video that she is indeed a fighter.

unfortunately, there is no good description of this suspect, police say, he's five-ten, between 25 and 30 years old, he could be traveling in a 2002-2,000 dark great metallic ford tourist. again, back windows smashed out. reporting live outside of police headquarters, jan carabeo, "eyewitness news". >> than you. investigators are looking into the motive behind an apparent murder suicide outside a chester county ymca. later on today, we're expected to learn the identities of both the victim and her killer. police tell "eyewitness news", a woman was walking through this parking lot when she was ambushed by a man with a gun. afterward, he took his own life. dozen of children and their parents were nearby when it happened. after the first shots, many of them took cover inside. >> kept all families back, in the corner, away from all of the windows towards the door. >> very clear that the individual who did this, the male, had planned what he was going to do. >> reporter: now we do know the victim was a mother of

two, had been working there at the y as a fitness instructor. no one else was hurt. >> also, police are still looking for a gunman after a shooting near delaware state university in dover. chopper three over the scene here, at the residence hall about a half mile north of the main campus. we're told the victim was a male student, and he is expected to survive. the university was placed on lock-down for several hours, as police cleared the nearby street. >> right now, 6:03. we want to head outside to the skydeck. how is it feeling? >> not too bad. still warrant, you know there is casino of chill still warrant a jacket for sure. but i can tell this much, not as cold as it has been in recent mornings, even yesterday, was little bit of easing up on the thermometer, actually warmer than that even this morning. let's look at storm scan3, where we start things off here. where you can see, not just thin vale of clouds, but also, few little speckles evergreen. do not worry about wet weather a loft times, the radar can pick up on things, other than precipitation, even though the system being pick up in the

atmosphere, it is too dry at the surface basically the bottom line for us to see any raindrops fall from the sky. twenty-four hour temperature difference tells the story. we have sends warmed up. we're starting to see these temperatures rebounds into the 50's, the 60s, later on today, and we had hard time even hitting ooh over the course of the weekends. so you evening out additional five to ten to almost 16, 17 degrees here, and in some locations, from this same time yesterday, so while it is still cool, into the low 50's, you are definitely feeling that it is a little bit more comfortable outside. the polls are now open. we again just have couple of clouds, 50 degrees, through the course of this early morning, that's generally where we will however, later on today, though, 67 degrees, with sunshine it, really looks like nice day. vittoria? >> sound gorgeous, thank you so much, katie. good morning, everyone. also looking pretty nice out there would be your commute so far. we know that's going to change. let's get outside. see how you are doing on the ben franklin bridge. no delays in either direction, making your way westbound, into philadelphia, or eastbound, into new jersey, i mean, the ben is wide open for

you. it does seem to be if you are traveling approaching the mid-span, using the westbound side of the ben, that we are experiencing just touch of traffic. but again, that is what is bound to happen around 6:05. as we move forward into or around the 6:30 area, that's when we really start to feel the rush come n so we will continue to keep you updated on that, 476, no major delays around 95, mid-county toll plaza, schuylkill expressway, all-in-all things moving well. speed censors moving well. fifty-five on 95, expect sly down southbound at girard, building there. schuylkill expressway not awful. neither is the blue route. all-in-all, no delayed ride. pretty good ride for mass transit. ukee? >> well, just moments ago, the polls opened in the state of new jersey. in pennsylvania, and delaware, they open at 7:00. now, in the keystone state, all eyes are on the race for governor. as "eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown tells you, the candidate went down to the wire, stomping for every last vote. >> candidate for pennsylvania

governor criss-crossing the state at a frenzy pace, rallying their supporters, bows ending their day in the western part of the state in rallies in pittsburgh. >> i believe tomorrow night when you guys come around, when ever the final totals come in, that i'm going to be the victor, and we'll have a second term. >> i'm not cocky, getting complacent, i'm working real hard. i'll be working all the through the election tomorrow. >> in the final hours, before election day, governor tom corbett made a stop in west chester, pennsylvania, reminding voters why he deserves four more years in office. portraying his democratic challenger tom wolf as candidate, set on raising taxes on the middle class. >> can be sum up in one word: taxes. >> but wolf is quick to fire back, from this rally in lancaster, monday afternoon, attacking corbett on cuts to education, and a lack of job creation, throughout the state. >> this is about education, it is about jobs, it is about fairness. >> the candidate wrapped up their campaign, having started on one side of the state, and ended on another. hundreds every miles traveled.

no time to waste. while recent polls show corbett still trailing by double digits, the gap has narrowed, and left to voters to decide. governor corbett will be awaiting the election result here in pittsburgh, meantime, tom wolf does remain ahead in the polls, but both candidate say polls don't vote. people do. that's why voters turn out will be key. in pit burying, natasha brown, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". and that's not the only election we are watching today. in one of the most hotly contested races democrat amy belgard and tom macarthur competing for seal in congress in south jersey. the winner replaces congressman jon runyan who is retiring. and in pennsylvania's eighth congressional district, bucks county republican mike fitzpatrick running for re-election, l changed by kevin straws. >> the polls are now open in new jersey, once again, will not close until 8:00 p.m. in pennsylvania and delaware, the hours are from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. "eyewitness news" will very you covered on election day

>> president obama declared a major disaster the laugh a the slow river of molten lava has stalled, but it doesn't mean it isn't moving at all. lava is actually breaking out of the main flow and spreading horizontally, threatening to merge with the stalled front, and push the lava toward homes once again. the president's disaster declaration opens the way for federal aid now. although, no homes have been destroyed, the lava has already caused millions of dollars in damage and other emergency spending. let's get our traffic and weather together. here's kate. >> i this is about as tranquil as it gets here for early november, ukee, good morning, everybody. storm scan3, quiet as can be, at least at the local level. we could have couple of clouds granted. if you look real close, see

the few speckles of green that fire up. just moisture content in the atmosphere, it is not wet weather. you don't have to worry about having any casino of wet weather gear here today. we have nice day on tap. now the next frontal boundery in line, waits in the wings, back over portions of the great lakes, illinois, and it drapes back to the central planes. that's going to be front that fizzles with time. so by tomorrow, it ushers in more clouds than anything, that will be it. meanwhile, right now, you're got couple every clouds, but those should continue to thin, 51 degrees because that far blanket of cloud cover, snow is kind of best scenario where you have clouds into the early morning, when the temperatures are at their coolest, and then it starts to warm up as the sun breaks through the course of the day. so, it is nice, this afternoon, certainly, mild for the standards, or normal high about 60-61 degrees, not too shabby, mostly sunny, drop it down to 49 tonight under partly cloudy sky. now the oddball out of the forecast in terms every wet weather anyway is thursday. that's going to be a very dreary day, with periods of rain, probably thunderstorm embedded, as well, courtesy of

duo of fronts rolling through, and we cool down as a result. vittoria? >> thank you, katie. good morning, everyone, finally starting to see rush hour, then fortunately we have disable vehicle to go along with it if you are traveling on eastbound 422. so, traveling 422 eastbound approaching trooper, disable vehicle for the most part pushed to the shoulder but folks are going to slow down any time that they see flashing lights. so you will notice a gaper delay, on top of little bit of rush hour, than will only continue to grow considering it is only 6:15. so, if you want to watch out if that's where you are headed. ninety-five the usual. so 95, making your way out of the northeast, down through the vine, getting slow. the heaviest pocket of traffic that you'll find will be around girard avenue because of the construction zone. i would not be surprised if even that thick delay would also be around cottman avenue at this point. speed censors not awful generally. we do, however, have accident egypt long at longford ford road. mass transit looking great. erika? >> thank you, urgent warning for parent. police say someone found a razer blade in a piece of

halloween candy in vineland. parent who visited homes on south spring road, lincoln avenue, and pennsylvania avenue, you should really take a closer look at your child's halloween candy. saturday we told but razor blade found inside after candy bar that was collect halloween night. that was in the area of woodlawn drive and towamenson township montgomery county. police have yet to make any arrests in either case. but you just can't be too careful looking through that candy. >> frightening abduction caught on camera, 22 year old carlesha freeland-gaither forced into a vehicle along 100 block every commenter street sunday night. there is a $10,000 reward for information on her abduction. >> investigators in chester county say that last night's double shooting at a brandywine ymca was a murder suicide. they expect the victim and gunman's identities to be reese leased later today. >> once again election day, polls open in the state of new jersey, polls in pennsylvania, and delaware, open at 7:00. please, don't forget to vote.

censors, seeing a little bitty yellow out there. fifty-nine, 27 miles per hour, now your average. ninety-five southbound, making your way out of the northeast, down through the vine. only going to grow. schuylkill westbound approaching city avenue eastbound approaching the vine. 476 not awful just yet. but it will get busy for sure. watch out for accident egypt at longford road traveling in that area. no delays for pass transit. things at the airport look great. >> thank you, vet tore y camden county man killed in a freak accident on a construction site in north jersey. authorities say that 58 year old gary anderson of somerdale died after a falling tape measure struck him on the head. anderson just deliver sheet rock at the construction site in jersey city when that tape measure fell from a workman's belt, 50 stories high. police say he was not wearing a hard hat. >> i think he would have been hurt, maybe in the hospital, but would have probably saved a life. >> it is very scary. i have no idea that something so small could do so much

damage. >> a public safety official said the incident appeared to be a tragic accident. >> on the hell watch this morning, wissahickon high school is dealing with a second case of whooping cough. >> a letter went taught parent on friday. it said that a sophomore had been diagnosed, and that other student may have been exposed. the first case of the disease at that school was confirmed by montgomery county health officials, back in september. well, surprising new research about shift work and how it may be hurting your health. a study found that shift workers had lower scores on memory, processing speed, and overall brain power. it is suggesting monitoring the health of anyone who has perform shift work for more than ten years, research found it is possible to recover your cognitive ability, at least five years after stopping shift work. >> coming up in the next half hour of "eyewitness news", it is election day, find out how today's midterm elections will impact your money. >> plus, terrifyingg video, shows a woman struggling with

>> from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". it is the chilling surveillance tape police want you to see. a young woman, snatched off the street, vanishing without a trace. now, there is a reward in this case. "eyewitness news" reporter, jan carabeo, joins us now at police headquarters with the latest information. jan, good morning. >> reporter: erika, good morning, an all out search for this missing 22 year old woman, who police say was kidnapped, on sunday night, now police tell us they have received tips in this case, but so far, none of those tips have panned out. so they're now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the abductor in in case. if you take a look at the video, you can see all of this happened each frightening step was caught on surveillance video. police say carlesha gate

freeland-gaither last seen walking around 10:00 sunday night, that's when a man grabs her, drags her, kicking and screaming, and forces her into a dark colored car. now, police say, an eyewitness was walking on the other side of the street, as all of this was happening, he says, he heard freeland-gaither scream for help and called 911 after in the g the abductor had a large knife. police say freeland-gaither fought her attacker the entire time kicking out both rear windows before the car drove off. as police continued to is her this much morning, freeland-gaither's family pleading for her safe return. >> just let my daughter go, whatever it takes, i don't care, just let her go. >> yes, and bring her back safely, that's all, we just want her to come back safely. basically all we want is her, that's all we want. >> unfortunately, police don't have a good description of the suspect. they say he is 5 feet 10 inches tall between 25 and 30 years old, they say, he may

be driving a 2,000-2002 dark grade metallic ford taurus. again, both back windows smash out. if you have any information you are asked to call police. reporting outside of police headquarters, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> jan, thank youment new jersey state police hope 1,500-dollar reward will lead them to the hit-and-run driver who killed 25 year old chelsey burns. a vehicle hit her while she walked along alloway grove in pilesgrove township last month. police spoke to the driver of a second vehicle, that hit burns, but did not file charges. investigators say, that it was the first impact that killed her. >> now, police also want to know who spray painted graffiti on metal i beam from the world trade center at 9/11 memorial. the vandal or van at used red paint to deface the memorial at the ronald rogers arboretum, other nearby structures. they wrote in script, at the writing system used in eastern

as recent days v we go to storm scan3, next, show you what's been going on here in the last three hours, few speckles of green, but no rain actually verifying out of that. just hint of moisture, building up here in the atmosphere, courtesy of warmfront lifting through. the warmfront really has left us with some warmer air, low 50's, still being reported, this is basically the coldest time of the morning now that the sun's it up will do its footer start moderating temperatures, as the skies clear, across the board here, ending one nice afternoon, mild for the standards, in philly and down the shore, and if you're lucky enough to have maybe scored a day off here it might just be tempting enough to make you go down to the shore here and enjoy the day, just beautiful across the board, and again, vet tore crashes looking good for all of the voters out there, too. >> nice, perfect day to go leaf peep, go vote, hit the beach, i mean, you've got busy day out there. you've got nice long to-do list. and i have a nice long list of delays, unfortunately. man did i just bring that down? sorry for bringing the mood down. but i do have to give you what is real and what is current

and right now traffic wise 95 is not looking great. you are delayed in the southbound direction, out of the northeast, making your way down toward the vine st. expressway. this would be your southbound delay around the area of girard avenue. heaviest pockets around cottman, and girard, and you know that's because of construction. northbound 95, not awful just yet. not even delaware county. still moving well. this is 476, not too far away from the schuylkill expressway. actually right above t traveling on 476, moving well overall around the schuylkill, the toll plaid i, around 95, speed censors looking pretty good on 476. cannot say the same for 95 and the schuylkill. so traveling 76 westbound, expect delays approaching the boulevard, then making your way out toward gladwynn. if you are headed eastbound also seeing some slowing around belmont, no delays for mass transit, and things at the airport look pretty good. ukee? >> the polls are already open in new jersey and in just about a half hour voters in pennsylvania will have their say. big race of course for governor. republican incumbent tom corbett reminded voters why he

deserves four more years. he's called opponent tom wolf attacks and spend democrat. wolf is the first time candidate, who has run his family business for about three decades now. he's criticized corbett for education cuts, and a lack of job creation. >> i believe tomorrow night, when you guys come around, whenever the final totals come, in i'll be victor. >> i'm not cocky. i'm not getting complacent. i'm working really hard. i'll be working all through the election tomorrow. >> now, wore maintains lead in most polls, although, corbett has been gaining grounds. today's elections are expected to draw less than half of pennsylvania's 8.3 million registered voters. erika? >> now, few other big races could change the political landscape in washington. nine states, are holding elections for the u.s. senate. republicans would need to win six of those seats in order to gain the majority in both houses of congress. polls are already showing it could come down to the wire in georgia, louisianna, and

following midterm election, in the third year of a given term of a presidency. how about that for precision? given that a lot of folks are predicting the republican party could take the senate, here is some more good news for the bold. net davis research found from 1961 to 22010. -- 2010, the combination of democratic president and democratic congress has produced the best historical returns for the s&p 500. and average of over 21%. so, compare that with 12.1%, that's when the white house and congress are controlled by the same party, when either party is in the white house, and split congress, returns are averaging 7.1%, the worse combo, a republican president, and a democratic congress, just four and a half% return. >> all right, jill, what about any legislation? expect any big changes? >> reporter: well, you know that political gridlock is basically stopped the clock on any major legislation. but, you know, we think about it, over the past few years, the periodic threat of default

or government shutdown has prompted congress to enact changes to the tax code. if the two houses remain split, it is likely to be more of the same. but, if the republicans do win the senate, then both houses could potentially come together, to pass a broader tax reform legislation, especially for the clung i corporate tax systemment we don't expect any big changes in the tax code for individuals or sweeping entitlement reform. of course president obama needs to sign any legislation into law, and that presidential veto remains tool that could limit any big action. >> so what do you think, jill, should any moves be made in anticipation of the election? >> reporter: just, i think, sit back and enjoy the ride, and don't make any big changes. because if we learned anything, throughout that volatile october, it was that long-term investors shouldn't be making guesses about the market direction, same is true for elections, just stick to your game plan. don't mess with your diversified portfolio. i have intriguing one up on jill on money my friends, learn why we still stink at
