back. all right. highway one through big sur reopened this morning after weeks of closures, all due to that storm damage. a series of storms caused a big rock slide that took out a chunk of highway one back in march, just south of rocky creek bridge . since then, caltrans has been running one way convoys while they worked around the clock to make temporary repairs. the closure cut off many big sur businesses from the tourist traffic. that's their lifeline. a permanent fix is currently in the design phase. it's expected to be completed by spring of 2025, and while highway one and big sur is now open, we have a couple of important closures to tell you about that are happening starting tonight through monday morning at 5 a.m, the eastbound lanes of highway 37 will be closed between sonoma and solano counties. crews will be repaving the road starting tonight at ten and should wrap up early monday morning. another paving project to tell you about it will close down parts of interstate 680. caltrans says three southbound lanes will be closed between acosta boulevard
7:43 pm
and san ramon, and the interstate 580 connector in pleasanton. the lane closure will begin in just about an hour and run through four monday morning. all right. the bay area has been out of the drought now for a couple of years, but now for the first time in more than four years, nearly the entire state is free of drought or abnormally dry conditions, according to the latest u.s. drought monitor data. california now has its lowest amount of drought conditions since 2011, thanks to a fairly wet winter and spring that we had the state's only remaining patch of abnormally dry conditions is in southern california, in the eastern most parts of san bernardino and riverside counties. bringing it back now here to the bay area and want to get an update on your weather as we take a really pretty look at it. our highway four camera. let's bring in our meteorologist , mark tamayo, for an update on what we can expect for the rest of the night. and then that all important weekend. >> yeah, the weekend forecast is looking just fine. so, you know, when we get those real hot

temperatures and it's just unbearable, will be unbearable to be outside. we want the fog. you want to embrace the fog. yeah that's what we have right now. so just appreciate what we have coming our way. yeah yeah. you can take a look at the highs from this afternoon 6070s. and you know kind of a cool start in the morning hours. but nice to get outside in the afternoon. san jose 76 antioch 78 degrees and santa rosa 69. so no heat in our forecast, at least for this weekend. we will bump up those numbers though into next week. you'll see those that change showing up in the five day coming up in a little bit tomorrow morning. some clouds, skies becoming partly sunny into the afternoon. hours and pretty much the same story for your sunday and on sunday. bay to breakers in san francisco 8:00. the bayside in san francisco. mostly cloudy skies, temperatures in the 50s. here is a running route out toward the breakers, out toward ocean beach, and you can see by 11:00, still partly sunny, maybe even mostly cloudy. still temperatures only in the 50s. so we'll have that cool, refreshing air to help with the runners on sunday morning. help out the runners sunday morning satellite . we have the low clouds and fog just offshore, getting ready to
7:45 pm
push back into the bay. we'll check out some of the current numbers for the 7:00 hour. santa rosa, 60 degrees, san francisco 57 and san jose in the upper 60s. as far as the wind reports, you can see fairfield winds westerly at 23 miles an hour. so we do have a bit of a breeze out there. checking out sfo right now winds out of the northwest right around 17 miles an hour. and here is our live camera looking out toward sfo. you can see a little bit of some blue sky, at least the clear sky, but also this big blanket of clouds kind of contouring the hillsides here. and this will ramp up in coverage for the overnight hours into your saturday morning. so temperatures tomorrow morning will be in the upper 40s, but most areas will be in the 50s. so we'll have the cloud cover for san francisco out toward oakland, hayward, probably san rafael, and then maybe some some patches well inland as well. here is the forecast model. and then into the afternoon hours. that cloud deck will try to clear back to near the shoreline. so no big surprises here with your saturday forecast temperatures. no 90s. not much
7:46 pm
in the way of 80s. we're just thinking some 60s and some 70s. so we've been talking about this area of high pressure offshore over the past couple of days. the change into the weekend will be this system dropping in from the north, no rainfall expected, but this could actually help mix out the marine layer. so as a result, maybe a little bit more of some clearing into both saturday and into sunday, it'll definitely keep our temperatures in check. and that's what we have for tomorrow 60s and 70s. and a look ahead. your five day forecast a little bit warmer into sunday. and that warming will kick in as we move into early next week. by monday and tuesday, warmest locations back up into the low to mid 80s. heather. >> not a bad looking weekend. thanks, mark. well, if there was any question about the growing popularity of women's basketball. new numbers from the new golden state valkyries will answer that in a big way. plus, celebrating a grocery store. yep, lots of happy customers in
