traffic, this is ktvu. >> fox two news at noon. >> good afternoon. >> i'm gasia mikaelian i'm andre senior. thank you for joining us. let's get right to some breaking news from the east bay. now a vehicle has crashed into the carquinez bridge toll plaza. so if you're planning to travel in the area, be prepared for delays as you approach the toll plaza, the crockett martinez fire department says at least four people were injured. we do not know the extent of their injuries right now, but as you can imagine, this type of thing can cause backups heading north on the towards the toll plaza. so if you're heading in that area, maybe you want to try and find an alternate route for the time being, or expect some slowdowns in the meantime, we will keep following this story and bring you all the latest developments as they become available. now to this story. oakland's newest police chief is officially on the job. that's after the city went more than a year without a permanent police chief. as ktvu james torres reports, the chief's focus will be to immediately reduce crime. the new police chief, floyd mitchell, is coming to oakland

after serving as chief of police in lubbock, texas. >> he brings with him more than 30 years of law enforcement experience. >> i just wanted to take a moment to say, welcome to my first day as an oakland police chief. >> monday is the first look at floyd mitchell as oakland's police chief. for weeks, he's been meeting with opd leaders to learn about the department and its programs. he spoke to the next class of police recruits waiting for their day in academy . >> i've been in this profession probably longer than most of you have been alive. >> chief mitchell replaces former chief lauren armstrong, fired last year after the mayor's office flagged issues of handling cases of misconduct. an independent investigation cleared armstrong of any wrongdoing, but mayor tao said his attitude during the investigation made her less confident he could handle the job. chief mitchell takes over the agency at a time where public safety is oakland's number one priority. >> i've spent the last few days

attending some lineups to meet my officers. i'm going to spend the rest of this week attending different meetings to get brought up to speed on several different things going on within the oakland police department and within this community. >> robberies continue to be on the rise. >> my boyfriend's car just got broken into last week. >> however, this could be a turning point for the city. the mayor's office reporting homicides, assaults and burglaries are down in oakland, and over the weekend, 12 new police officers were welcomed into the department. after graduating from the academy, a total now of 716 officers, more than 70 on medical leave. the department is now considered fully staffed. one man says hiring a chief out of town might be a challenge. >> you're going on paperwork. you're going on what? somebody then told you or passing on to you. but if you were down here in the roots, with the other, with the people, you would know the peoples and so you know how everybody to respond. >> the police department is still working on finalizing a date for the chief's public swearing in.

>> thank you for having me as your police chief. and i look forward to seeing you in person. >> reporting in oakland. i'm james torres, ktvu, fox two news. >> federal highway safety investigators are taking a closer look at amazon's self-driving robotaxi fleet after two small incidents. they involved two amazon vehicles operating in autonomous mode. amazon says the cars suddenly braked and were rear ended by motorcyclists. both cyclists suffered minor injuries. this new investigation will focus on the automated driving system during the crashes. the system is developed by zoox, a company based in foster city. zoox released a statement saying our team is currently reviewing the request for information as part of nhtsa's preliminary evaluation. goes on to say, transparency and collaboration with regulators is of the utmost importance, and we remain committed to working closely with nhtsa to answer their questions. prosecutors have called their star witness in the so-called hush money case against former president donald trump, his former attorney, michael cohen, ktvu amanda

quintana, has the latest developments. >> michael, what do you have to say to donald trump? >> michael cohen, known as donald trump's former fixer, was quiet on his way to the courthouse monday morning with hours and likely days of critical testimony ahead. >> have any messages for donald trump today? >> cohen's value as a witness is that he was involved in all aspects of former president trump's business and personal life, and allegedly knew all of his secrets on the witness stand, he characterized his celebrity client as a hands on manager and said he sometimes lied for him and bullied others on his behalf. cohen says he facilitated the $130,000 payment to stormy daniels on the orders of his former boss last week, daniels, a former adult film star, testified about the money she received in 2016. trump is accused of improperly accounting for that payment. cohen will detail the alleged scheme by the former president to both pay off daniels and reimburse cohen for paying her all to make sure that the news of trump's affair

wouldn't damage his 2016 campaign. cohen also described recording a conversation he had with trump over a payment for another woman's story he wanted buried. trump has pleaded not guilty and denied having an affair. he addressed the media before walking into the courtroom first about current poll numbers. >> the new york times just came out with a poll that shows us leading everywhere by a lot. this is the cover story. >> the article shows trump leading president biden in five battleground states. >> this trial is rigged. it's dishonest. it's a disgrace to new york. it's a disgrace to the country. i should be out campaigning now instead of sitting in a very cold courthouse all day long. >> trump's team will try to discredit cohen. he will likely face an intense cross-examination since turning on trump, who was his mentor, he's tried to monetize his story with a book, including one called revenge, along with

podcasts and tv appearances, trump's team will paint cohen as an unreliable witness who's trying to get payback. cohen has also lied in the past. he went to prison for making false statements to congress, campaign finance violations and tax evasion charges. all of this means it could be a make or break day for this trial. >> the prosecutors have put all their chips on michael cohen being a persuasive, credible witness, which, to say the least, is an enormous risk for the da's team. >> amanda quintana, ktvu, fox two news israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu continues to receive stark warnings from us officials not to launch a full scale ground offensive in rafah. >> it's hamas's last major stronghold in gaza. over the weekend, israeli forces pushed deeper into the city. but as rebecca kaster reports, the biden administration says there is no credible plan in place to protect civilians as. >> for two minutes on israel's memorial day, sirens blare and life comes to a halt as israelis

mothers day campaign to raise $5,000. that money will help fund a new neonatal intensive care unit for premature babies at the kuwaiti hospital in rafah over the weekend, pro-palestinian protesters targeted graduation ceremonies at universities nationwide. >> comedian jerry seinfeld was greeted by boos and cheers. some students walked out before he delivered the keynote speech at duke university. seinfeld has been an active supporter of israel throughout the war. >> i totally admire the ambitions of your generation to create a more just and inclusive society. >> there were also protests at the university of wisconsin, madison and the university of texas at austin, where students holding palestinian flags were cleared. >> triple a is predicting close to 44 million people will be traveling for memorial day weekend. this year's numbers is a 4% increase since last year, and closely matches 2005 record travel. the motor club association projecting 35 million will travel by car, while airports are expected to

over the weekend. as madeleine rivera reports, the operation could soon help return the port of baltimore back to normal. nearly two months after baltimore's francis scott key bridge collapsed, crews are demolishing a key portion of the structure on monday. the operation was initially scheduled for over the weekend, but bad weather and rising tides forced crews to reschedule. >> safety. in this operation is our top priority. we've gotten

to this point without a single injury. we plan on continuing this mission without a single injury. >> the coast guard says controlled explosives will split the bridge's remains in specific locations, allowing salvage teams to use cranes and barges on scene to remove the debris. that will then free up the cargo ship that ran into one of the bridge's columns in march, forcing it to fall into the river. once the ship is removed, officials hope maritime traffic will return to normal. >> i've had large economic impacts really throughout the mid-atlantic and even throughout the country in terms of the port closure, we have to get that port reopened and then we have to build rebuild that bridge as soon as we can. >> six construction workers died in that collapse. there are multiple investigations taking place to determine what went wrong and who is responsible. on wednesday, transportation officials, as well as members of the coast guard and army corps of engineers, will testify at a congressional hearing about the response to this tragedy. officials say members of the

ship's crew will stay on board throughout the demolition, but will have a safe place to shelter in washington matter. rivera ktvu, fox two news. >> boeing remains in the hot seat as it faces scrutiny over statements the company made about its own safety practices. the securities and exchange commission is reportedly investigating whether the plane maker violated sec rules by misleading investors following the mid-air door plug mishap on an alaska airlines flight back in january, though the details of a potential sec inquiry remain unclear. now, earlier on the nine, we spoke with aviation consultant ross sagan about the investigation. he says because of the complex roles and requirements of the faa, the sec may have a hard time coming to a clear conclusion. >> well, the sec is doing is performing their mandate, but the faa needs really the faa is the safety overseer for the system. and the problem is that the faa has a dual dual mandate, one is to promote air air commerce, and the other is to

protect air safety. and it's a difficult role to provide both both responsibilities at the same time. >> captain sagan added there are hundreds of operational and safety incidents a day that go unreported in the airline industry, with various degrees of seriousness, strong storms swept across parts of the country this weekend, leaving a path of damage. >> this was the scene in central florida downed trees, broken fences, debris covering yards and roads. winds reached 60 miles an hour. the community is now coming together to help clean up about six, seven, eight guys showed up to help and then some neighbors heard our chainsaws and came over and said, hey, can you help us? >> so it was pretty cool just seeing everybody jump together and help each other. >> a strong tornado tore through northeast oklahoma, leveling many homes. authorities in florida and oklahoma say the construction crews are desperately needed to work on homes that are still standing much closer to home. lake tahoe is expected to fill up for the first time in five years. the u.s. department of agriculture

says, thanks to two consecutive wet winters, the lake is expected to be full for the first time since 2019. the water year runs through september, but researchers say it's already a safe bet to pencil in a win on this year's report card. when the lake is full, it can provide enough water to meet demand for the next three years. >> all right, let's turn things over now to rosemary oroczo. she's here tracking the forecast in some parts of the bay area. still dealing with some overcast skies. >> rosemary. yeah, we will have the clouds along the coastline. andre garcia, hello to you. happy monday everybody. after a cool start, a cloudy start. those clouds are partying. but we will remain with the low clouds and the possibility of patchy drizzle during the early morning hours, as well as the overnight hours. here's a look over the bay where we do have blue skies for our inland communities at this time. temperatures are running a little bit cooler today, and the onshore breeze through fairfield right now, right about 23mph. light breeze through oakland, concord, napa reporting at eight miles per hour. getting into the second part of the afternoon, our temperatures will be very seasonal for most of the bay

area, a little above average for our inland cities. but you can see here from the 24 hour temperature change, we're just a tad cooler compared to yesterday. livermore. you're down by five degrees or so, six sitting at 67 degrees. a beautiful 72 in brentwood, right now we've got 55 in the city of san francisco, low 60s for our north bay communities and for the south bay right now, 67 reported over san jose. a little bit of a tour into the north bay right along the coastline. point reyes station reporting 5764, in sonoma along the peninsula for you here. 63 in redwood city, 68 in woodside and the inner east bay enjoying 60s and low 70s 64 alamo, 73. in one neighborhood there over brentwood. the futurecast model remaining with the partly cloudy skies, partly sunny at the coastline for today. and then as we get into the overnight hours, low clouds are back and moving inland. by tomorrow morning at sunrise. notice widespread once again inside the bay, north bay, east bay and through the south bay as

well as that possibility of a little bit of drizzle into the afternoon, we'll break away to mostly sunny skies away from the coastline. temperatures across the bay area for today 81 expected for santa rosa, 64 in san francisco, upper 60s in oakland. low 80s livermore san jose at 79. so you will notice in the city of san francisco as well as oakland, temperatures right about where they should be. but our inland communities will be a little bit above on the peninsula for the afternoon today. 75, in redwood city in the north bay, 78 in san rafael and low 80s for the inner east bay. a view here of the days ahead. temperatures will come up just slightly on tuesday and then we hold steady low 60s at the coast, low 70s expected around the bay, low to mid 80s for our inland communities. tuesday, wednesday, thursday into friday. of course, allergy season continues there. i'll have a look at what you can expect for your bay area weekend in the extended forecast. coming up in just a little bit. >> rosemary. thanks. smoke from canada getting creating poor air

west, but so far no evacuations for major cities. firefighters are working to control the blaze. >> us attorney general merrick garland honored the nation's fallen heroes. garland kicked off national police week by paying tribute at the national law enforcement officers memorial in washington, d.c. a wreath was laid to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. the memorial wall recognizes the service and sacrifice of federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal law enforcement who died in the line of duty. the names of more than 23,000 officers have been carved on the wall, with new names of fallen officers added each spring to coincide with national police week, a somber ceremony in san rafael. the marin county sheriff's department is holding its annual peace officers memorial ceremony today. law enforcement officers from across the region honored the men and women who sacrificed their lives in service of their communities. this morning's tribute to those officers included a flag raising ceremony and a moment of silence.

>> bay area elected leaders are praising the decision of the state's public utilities commission to stop at&t from eliminating traditional landlines. san mateo county supervisor ray mueller and congresswoman anna eshoo say keeping the landlines is beneficial for people living in rural areas with unreliable cell connections. at&t is required to provide landline service to much of california, but the company asked to drop landline service, saying the cost to maintain that service is going up and there is less demand. two new world records are broken on mount everest. the highest peak in the world at 29,000ft. a 54 year old guide who helped visitors scale everest reached the peak yesterday for a 29th time, the most ever by one individual. meanwhile, a 50 year old british mountain guide climbed everest an 18th time. that's the most ever by a foreigner, he said. he is said to be in good health and is already coming down the mountain. he first climbed everest in 1994 and has been making the trip almost every year. >> a new report shows the world has passed a milestone in clean energy, according to the global

electricity review, a record breaking 30% of the world's electricity generated last year came from renewable energy sources. global levels of greenhouse gas emissions reached a record high in 2023. however, climate experts say the recent numbers reflect a crucial turning point toward clean energy. >> we will go through several decades of transition where we will have to make concerted efforts to rebuild our infrastructure, our to support electrification. >> this milestone is also a significant step in reaching 60% renewable electricity by 2030, which scientists say is crucial to meeting our global climate goals. well, a beloved 102 year old former park ranger is honored by a bay area university. >> cal state east bay held a commencement for the college of letters, arts and social sciences. soskin received an honorary degree. she has lived in the east bay for 90 years, and was 101 when she retired from the rosie. the riveter world war two home front park in richmond. the school presented her with an honorary doctorate

shots fired in the neighborhood. ktvu joey hoord spoke with people who are now calling for change. >> just behind this bullet pierced window is where an oakland man tells ktvu he was lying on the couch sunday when a bullet shot right through the room. also home at the time, his wife and their three year old child are. >> we need more police around here. >> oakland police could be seen investigating the shooting at east 32nd street and hamline avenue in the tuxedo neighborhood, one block south of 580 on sunday. joyce wong lives down the street, heard all the commotion at first not realizing what was going on. >> first of all, you think about fireworks. >> she would end up counting more than ten shots fired. >> very big noise. >> wong, who's lived in this community for 40 years, ran outside and concerned about her

neighbors. >> i see two people was running away. >> first, this man. and soon after this woman took off running as wong snapped photos of them. >> we don't want all the criminal coming here at the crime scene. >> a blue suv riddled with bullet holes appears to have collided with a white suv at the entrance to a dead end alley. this garage door also has bullet holes in it. >> it's no good. >> police would respond within ten minutes. here's what wong wants oakland's next police chief to know. the police have more often run our streets like we want to be safe here. >> joey horta reporting there. now, the man whose home was hit by the bullet didn't want to speak on camera. he says. though he's shaken up, his family is safe. it's unclear if anyone was actually hit by the gunfire or if police have a suspect. joey reached out to oakland police. we are still waiting to hear back. >> family and friends in oakland are mourning the loss of two longtime east bay political leaders who were killed over the weekend in a car crash. community members gathered at

the lake merritt amphitheater to remember the lives of peggy moore and her wife, hope wood. they were killed friday night in a crash in san diego county. both built solid ties in oakland and beyond, working with former president barack obama advising former oakland mayor libby schaaf and even starting their own political consulting firm. at the candlelight vigil, former colleagues remembered their work and kindness. >> came out to take care of each other, talk to each other and remember their love and their contributions that they made to all of us individually, but also to the city. >> peggy moore was 60 years old, and her wife, hope, was 48, and east bay family is grieving after a five year old child drowned near bethel island. >> a diver found the boy in the water inside a cove. he's believed to have been in the water for about 15 minutes. rescuers performed cpr, rushed him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. authorities say the child got into the water through a backyard next to a shoreline. >> i haven't really noticed whether there could be better

security measures. to tell you the truth, i think it's, you know, most of the most of the most of it is really up to the homeowners to sort of make sure their particular areas are secure. >> the child was reportedly visiting his grandparents on the island at the time. people are urged to be on heightened alert as we head into the summer months, where more children are in and around the water. an estimated 1000 children a year die from drowning, often slipping under the water in a matter of seconds. most drownings are silent, unlike unlike how we're used to seeing them depicted in movies and television shows. adults should prepare for a water emergency with having life saving equipment such as safety rings or long poles nearby. safety experts also recommend that all children learn how to swim, but even then, an adult should be in charge of watching children in and near the water. >> and if you have a life jacket on a child, absolutely arms reach at all times, and then the other thing. get them in swim lessons, get them, get them comfortable in the water. make it enjoyable to do. swim team, build your skills, those kind of things. but parental

supervision, on top of lifeguards that are on site is huge to water safety. >> children between the ages of one and four are at highest risk of drowning. many deaths happen when children have unexpected access to water and safety experts say. if a child is missing the pool or spa should be the first place you look. >> the cause of the fire at a hotel in san francisco's russian hill is still under investigation. this noon. the fire prompted evacuations at 6:00 yesterday morning. one person experienced minor injuries, but did not need to go to the hospital. firefighters stayed on scene for several hours after the fire was out watching for any hot spots. a lithium battery plant fire sent a large plume of smoke over oakland yesterday afternoon. the fire at the port of oakland was quickly contained. no injuries reported and still no word on what caused the fire. and in west oakland, the community is reacting to a fire that badly damaged a church. it happened friday night at the saint andrew's missionary baptist church on 27th and west streets. more than 60 firefighters battled the flames for several hours. investigators say the

fire spread from a vacant home near the church. many church members hope the historic building can be rebuilt. >> it's sad. there's a lot of history here. like i said, i spent the first 15 years of my life here at this church and. and, i'm glad to see you survived. although it was a lot of damage. >> firefighters say no one was hurt. and the cause is under investigation. >> the man convicted of attacking congresswoman nancy pelosi's husband with a hammer is set to be stenced friday. federal prosecutors want the judge to sentence david depape to 40 years in prison for the attack. in october of 2022. last november, depape was convicted of breaking into the pelosi's home in san francisco and attacking her husband, paul, court records show. federal prosecutors say they think he deserves the maximum punishment, saying depape shows no remorse for the crime and even seems to be proud of what he did. grand jury transcripts are providing new details in the case of a los gatos woman charged with hosting alcohol fueled sex parties for teenagers. 49 year-old shannon o'connor remains in jail awaiting trial on more than 20 felony counts, more than 2000

pages of transcripts were released friday. they include the testimony of more than a dozen teenagers who attended her parties. they said she invited. she invited them to her home as part of an effort to make her teenage son more popular. the teens say they were encouraged to drink alcohol and engage in sexual activity. they also said that she often tried to hide the parties from her husband and their neighbors in los gatos. >> well, hundreds of people coming together to remember a san francisco legend. crowds of people packed into glide memorial church in the tenderloin to honor the life and legacy of the late reverend cecil williams. ktvu bailey o'carroll was at the church where people lined up around the block to pay their respects. we used to sing this song every sunday morning and i'm grateful to be here today. >> it's impossible to measure exactly how many lives someone touches in their lifetime, but if sunday's celebration of life was an indicator of anything, it would be that reverend cecil williams impacted more people than many hoped to. >> cecil williams was an amazing person who fought for social

justice and equality. his wise leadership and incredible achievements had a huge impact on the world, inspiring people. even today, his legacy serves as a reminder that one person can make a difference in the world. >> williams helped to build glide into a world renowned church known for social services and activism, especially in the city's tenderloin neighborhood. he dedicated his life to fighting for civil rights, racial equality, lgbtq rights, helping those who were homeless or hungry or battling drug addiction. there are so many stories to tell. >> there's so much that can be said. growing up in san francisco, what i knew, no matter what was going on in this city, what my grandmother who raised me said, if you get in trouble, if there is a problem and you run into some type of situation, fine. >> cecil williams glide was packed on sunday. wall to wall. there were no empty seats. folks lined up around the block two hours before the ceremony

vegas. today, on mornings on two, i spoke with the san jose mayor, matt mahan, and asked him what was the secret to success in his city. >> well, you know, it really starts with getting back to the basics. we focused on creating a downtown that is safe, clean and welcoming for everyone. we've expanded police foot patrols, we're adding community service officer bike patrols later this year. we've partnered with our downtown association to expand our groundworks team, which responds to illegal dumping and graffiti typically the same day, if not within within an hour. so we're really pushing on those foundational issues that allow for the rest of the economy to be successful. >> mayor mahan said he'd like to see all the cities in the bay area be successful in their recovery from the pandemic, and that he hopes san jose can be a model for them if self-driving cars become more popular. >> on the roads, we may see a change to a number of traffic laws. one idea that's been floated around is a possible fourth traffic signal. that fourth traffic light would signal where autonomous cars get

the right of way. another option could be red and green flashing lights with no yellow. it's likely none of these changes could come unless half of all vehicles on the road are self-driving. new news san jose plans to honor its vietnamese community with a new monument. a groundbreaking ceremony was held today at the city's vietnamese heritage garden on roberts avenue. the garden was first constructed 13 years ago to pay homage to the thousands of refugees that fled vietnam after the fall of saigon, city leaders say. the monument, titled thank you america, is a continuation of that theme. >> the vietnamese heritage garden will be more than just a physical space. it is a sanctuary of remembrance. it's a beacon of hope, a testament of indomitable spirit of our community. >> city leaders say the monument will be just one piece of a long term vision for the space, which will one day host community events, cultural performances and educational programs for the neighborhood. >> all eyes on the skies over

man accused of killing his fiance and dismembering her body . 43 year old joseph roberts has been found guilty of second degree murder, was charged with murdering 27 year old rachel buckner and stuffing her body in a garbage bag. her remains were discovered in july of 2023 near the bay farm shoreline in alameda. court documents reveal that her head, feet and hands were severed from her body. our crime reporter henry lee is inside the courtroom now. that verdict was just announced. no word just yet on sentencing. we do, though. expect to hear from alameda county district attorney pamela price later on this afternoon as well. >> melinda gates, the ex-wife of co-founder bill gates of microsoft, has announced he is, or she is resigning from the foundation that she and her husband founded on x. she said she was proud of the work of the bill and melinda gates foundation, which she and bill started back in 2000. she said she would be leaving with $12.5 billion to community work to rather commit to my work on behalf of women and families,

little pink in the sky and, well, a lot of fog. same here. yeah hello, hello. happy monday. we are, with an enjoyable weather pattern for the next few days. not too hot, not too cold and kind of locked in giving you a view here over the bay where we do have blue skies this morning or this afternoon, i should say. and the pattern in place a ridge over the pacific. you can see the storm track well to the north. not going to have any rain. enter the picture. in fact, if we get a little bit closer here, we've got a low right off our coastline and that is what is providing us with a bit of onshore breeze. the low clouds and the patchy drizzle, and that is expected to last for the next few days. the ridge will be a little bit more dominant as well, and so temperatures are going to come up, but it looks like just slightly. here's a look at thursday at noontime. and again now a little bit easier to see the ridge well over the west. and the high pressure there over the pacific. all in all little change coming our way. very

enjoyable for most 56 degrees right now in san francisco in the north bay we have low 60s in napa. and for the inner east bay 74 in brentwood, that's one of the warmer spots. how about the south bay 67 for you, san jose getting into the afternoon. temperatures will be right about average for our coastline as well as our bayside communities. if you're going to the giants game a little bit later today by game time at 645, do expect the low clouds back across the city and entering the bay. and with that, temperatures are going to feel cool, as well as an onshore breeze to about 16mph as they take on the dodgers. make sure you layer up, even bring along the thicker jackets because it's going to cool off getting into the evening hours. meanwhile, across the bay area for the afternoon today, 67, in san mateo, low 80s expected for concord and into the north bay, 81 over santa rosa. temperatures for inland cities just a little bit above average, but not by

claudia cowan explains artificial intelligence is now being used in factories and warehouses to help protect people who work around forklifts, conveyor belts and other heavy machinery. >> we checked out the system being used at gerlinger steel outside sacramento. software made by san francisco based comp science processes. video recorded on the company's existing security cameras and then highlights potential dangers. the colored boxes show where a worker almost tripped over steel beams or got too close to a moving forklift. >> it's given them something obvious to look at. a true example, rather than someone like me just going and saying, hey, you know you're not

supposed to be standing next to that lift while it's moving, right? >> the software can also see if a worker risks hurting themselves for instance, from lifting heavy loads the wrong way. >> a set of tools that help companies understand the risks that their employees are exposed to and really engineer that risk out of the facility to prevent accidents from happening. >> the technology scans thousands of hours of visual data and then offers recommendations on ways to improve safety. there's no facial recognition involved. the idea here isn't to punish anyone, but rather to reduce accidents and lower worker's comp claims depending on the size of the area being monitored. the price tag ranges from a few thousand to a few hundred thousand dollars, but some workplace accidents, like a back injury, can cost more than that over time, and a workplace death can run into the millions. employees we spoke to say they appreciate this added level of safety information. they say they can see where the hidden dangers are and learn how to avoid them to get home safe

after work in los angeles, claudia cowan, fox news. >> well, a woman who underwent surgery and then lost her voice can now speak again with the help of ai. last summer, doctors removed a life threatening tumor from alexis brogan's brain. well, a month later, brogan realized her voice was gone and she tried rehab with little success. then last month, she got her voice back. but it's not her real voice. it's an ai generated voice trained on a 15 second video of her teenage voice. it feels amazing to get my voice back because almost like a part of my identity was taken away when i lost my voice. brogan uses openai's new text to speech model voice engine to create the synthetic voice. this voice engine software is not widely available yet. openai does worry, though. this type of technology could be used to create deep fake robocalls and other scams. the reimagining of splash mountain at disneyland, tiana's bayou adventure is set to open june 28th. tiana's bayou adventure picks up with the
