they're fed up with the lack of city services. earlier this evening, we visited several businesses for that have been targeted by criminals multiple times. workers at seibel's pizza in oakland's diamond district say it's anything but business as usual. >> we're scared of our lives now. diamond district is not the same as back in the years, so that i have been working. >> surveillance video shows manager nestor sanchez stopping a man from reaching over the counter to grabc the cash register. sanchez fights back by pulling out a hammer. he says he was prepared since this was the second time someone came in to rob the business. sanchez says. in january, the restaurant was twice.rized twice and robbedt- >>c we're really struggling. sales have dropped 20% and office and off. >> we frustrated. so we're not going to pay taxes to the city until they give us what we want. >> jose ortiz owns la perla started, what he hopes will be a

environment. we were also told taco bell has hired extra security guards and met with local police to discuss safety. >> new at ten. the names of the mother and son found dead in santa rosa last week have been released. authorities say 54 year old cynthia fimbres and her son, ten year old maximus monroy , were both found dead their hon summerfield road in an apparent murder suicide. the coroner has not released the cause of death yet, but police say the woman appeared to have self-inflicted wounds caused by a cutting instrument. police said the boy's body did not have any visibleúinjuries in solano county. >> a fairfield police officer is accused of inappropriately texting high school students. 33 year-old officer james lewis, who worked as a student resource officer at rodriguez high school, was arrested friday night. officials say he exchanged inappropriate text messages and photos with two female students. fairfield police chief daniel marshall says a parent of one of those students reported the incident to his department. >> it's definitely a shock to us

for sure. i think at first you're shocked and saddened and turns into some anger, and there's a mixed emotions for sure,úand i think everybody in the department is feeling that, chief marshall says. >> officer lewis requested to be a school resource officer. the district attorney's office says he's no longer in custody as of this evening, but he's facing several charges and is scheduled >> fbi agents converged on the federal prison in dublin today. a number of issues, inmates whoe sexually abused. as ktvu crime reporter henryc lee tells us, te warden is now out of a job. >> a major shakeup at the all women's federal prison in dublin on monday, as fbi agents swarmed the facility. ktvu has learned the warden and associate warden and a captain were all dismissed, andc that new leadership is now in place. the restructuring comes as about 20 fbi agents raided the facility. a bureau spokeswoman confirmed

those agents were at the prison conducting, quote, court authorized law enforcement activity, but declined to elaborate. the fbi agents were at the prison for most of the day at one point, they were seen removing at least one box of potential evidence in a minivans been at the center of a long running sex abuse scandal that's been documented extensively by ktvu. eightúprison workers have been charged by federal prosecutors with sexual abuse of inmates, seven have been found guilty, including former warden ray garcia, who was sentenced last year in federal prison for abusing three female inmates. just last week, a dozen more womenúfiled sexual abuse and retaliation lawsuits against guards at the prison, bringing the total number of lawsuits to 63.úthe litigation comes as the dublin prison by its fourth administration. since garcia's departure. >> i have very little faith about bopp's ability to reform this deeply troubled institution. >> kara jensen is an attorney representing a number of

of people signed up to speak at tonight's meeting that is still underway. ktvu south bay reporter lamonica peters joins us live tonight from redwood city hall that meeting. lamonica >> mike, over five months after the gaza attacks, people here spoke against a cease fire resolution in redwood city. dozens of people waited outside of redwood city's council chamber to speak at the meeting, as photos of kidnaped hostages lay on display in front of city hall. >> it's not about politics. it's not aboutc religion. it's abouta humanitarian cease fire. >> since the hamas attack in israel last october. gaza health officials say more than 30,000 palestinians have been killed with little aid entering gaza. the united nations says a humanitarian crisis is unfolding as a quarter of gaza's population faces starvation. >> i want a cease fire. i think it's important that we have a

neighbor's couch. >> the mayor also touted a city program that employs homeless people to clean up the city. he says more than 150 people were enrolled in the san jose bridge program last year, and more than oneúthird went on to secure a full time job. >> a new committee in the state assembly has been tasked with scrutinizing state spending on housing and homeless programs. during a hearing just today, members of the newsom administration told the committee. california has spent $18.5 billion earmarked duringc the last five years, resulting in 57,000 units so far, but just 22,000 are finished. the rest remain under construction. administration officials say new construction has recently become more expensive. some project homekey converting motels into affordable housing is also at the center of a state audit, set to be released this coming spring. >> a few light, scattered showers showing up in the bay area already. more rain coming overnight, just like last night's system that powered through the bay area. pretty

much when most of us were home and overnight and then cleared out quickly during the day. that's kind of how tomorrow goes, except i don't think it will clear out as quickly. i think there might be a sprinkle on that morning commute, but the clouds will be lingering a little bit into the mid midmorning early afternoon. like partly cloudy, partly sunny. today kind of just went mostly sunny for a bit. these were the highs from today. tomorrow will be just about the same. we can take a look at the current outside. you can see that we can't see much other than salesforce and the bay bridge, but there are clouds out there and this is the radar showing you where the rain is and where it's not. and there it is. and there it's not. it's kind of showing up in hercules. this activity will pick up. this is the main crux of the system up here where the yellows are. and you can see the line, i guess. right. so this whole line is sort of your system and that's going to go through the bay area. so that's what we're going to time out when i come back with the latest computer model. and maybe a quarter of an inch, maybe a 10th of an inch, marin county got an inch of rain last night. we'll see how that goes.

11 citations and recovered a gun. police posted these photos on social media and issued a warning saying if you take part in illegal sideshows in oakland, your vehicle could end up towed and seized with a 30 day hold. >> family members of a woman killed in a hit and run in oakland late last year say they have not heard from investigators now for months, and they worry this case has been fgotten. >> the woman was hit by a driver on seminary avenue, just south of mills college in september. and as ktvu crystal bailey tells us now, neighbors in that area say they want changes to be made to that corridor to avoid more deaths. >> people who knew marlee delaney say she was a beacon of light. now, the scene where the 72 year old was killed in a hit and run in oakland is left with a note and a photo memorializing her. delaney was leaving her friend's house trying to catch the bus here on seminary avenue. before she could make it, she was hit by a car and flung several feet off the road. it was 36 hours before anyone found

her. >> these are always tragic events and they impact the families forever. i mean, my brother died in a traffic collision when i was five years old. i'm 62 now, and that has an ongoing. my. my brother is not here. >> delaney's daughter says the investigators told her they were submitting the case to the district attorney's office back in october, with no criminal charges to recommend for months. her family says they stopped hearing back from the investigator. but when i reached out to oakland police today, they told me the case had still not been sent to the d. a and would be sent this week. police could not tell me whether or not there would be charges on the hit and run driver. >> people don't feel safe. >> oakland's department of transportation has a tentative design currently in the works, which is not set to begin until 2026 or 2027 if you wait two years or three years, right, because it's scheduled to get in the ground around 2027, well, that's you can do the math that more people will be injured

before that happens, and maybe even some more people will die. traffic records indicate nearly 60 people were hit along seminary avenue in ten years. advocates with the traffic violence, rapid response say there are quick fixes the city can make in the meantime, like adding speed bumps, tightening the lanes through the use of these plastic flexible posts that you sometimes see preventing people from making lane passing movements, that sort of thing. >> they're asking for work to begin sooner to avoid deaths like delaney's. >> there are meetings scheduled between the neighborhood council and millmont, and oak dot happening later this month, where the city gathers input from neighbors before they move forward with construction. crystal bailey, ktvu, fox two news. >> a suspect has been arrested after they allegedly stole a car with a two year old inside. san pablo police say they first responded to a call of a vehicle theft around 125 this afternoon at a home on california avenue, right near rumrill boulevard. officers flooded the area,

ktvu jana katsuyama made a trip there today. she joins us now live to show us how that library is branching out in a very unique way. >> yes, it is julie and mike. and you know, usually when you think of libraries, you might think of long stacks of books, magazines and computer stations. well, san francisco public library has a new lending library in the bayview, which they hope will literally take root. san francisco public library's bayview branch is full

of books, but on a table tucked away in an old wooden card catalog. back in the day, we used to have cards in here that will tell you where books are located. in the library is the branch's latest collection, but we have a lot of vegetables right now, and we're trying to keep it seasonal. these small paper packets are planting seeds of knowledge in a very different way. >> our seed library doesn't require library card at all. >> yes, that's right, a seed library where people can come and borrow seeds to plant for free. >> the patrons can take whatever seeds that they would want to grow, and once they harvest it, they just bring their seeds from their harvest back. >> the librarians hope these tiny seeds will open a bounty of learning about nature, biology, urban gardening, and even health and nutrition and it's become an inspiration for even the most seasoned librarian.

alto police. >> the mother of a san francisco teenager killed while surfing a bart train is now speaking out about the tragic loss of her son as ktvu joey jorda reports, she's hoping to prevent others from making the same deadly mistake. >> train surfing the daredevil stunt of riding on top of a moving train is a risky trend, floating around on social media and for frequent rider daniel baron of san francisco, one ride would cost him his life. yeah that's the stuff. his heartbroken mother, marina baron , remembers the 19 year old for his brave and adventurous spirit. >> he was a bit risky, i would say. >> according to bart, a body was found on the tracks near the balboa park station just after 1 a.m. on january 29th. baron says that that's where her son attempted to surf on top of the train, but instead of a thrill ride, he would fall from the moving train, get, run over and

it denied loans to daca recipients. discover bank settled a bay area lawsuit today filed by migrants in 2020. plaintiffs say they were denied loans because they were under 16 and undocumented when they entered the us. discover bank denied those allegations, but has now agreed to provide equal treatment to those in the daca program. about 17,000 daca recipients who were denied loans since july 2018 will now be eligible for compensation. >> president biden's $7 trillion budget proposal includes a boost for san francisco transit. the president is recommending $500 million go toward the transbay downtown extension project.

reportedly agreed to a two year deal with edge rusher leonard floyd. the contract is worth up to $24 million with incentives. floyd played last year for the buffalo bills. he started 16 games, recorded a team high ten and a half sacks, and prior to that, the 31 year old played with the rams and the bears. the niners also planned to add defensive end yetur gross matos, who played the first three years of his career in carolina. 49ers also put a second round tender on wide receiver juwan jennings. that what does that mean? well, the niners have. they've offered the restricted free agent a one year deal worth nearly $5 million. and that enables the team to negotiate a multi-year deal with jennings. but if he signs with another team, the 40 niners will receive a second round draft pick as compensation . nfl free agency doesn't officially begin until wednesday, but you wouldn't know it. know it with what happened today, the negotiation period

opened up today. things are heating up. quarterback kirk cousins he's moving on from the minnesota vikings. he's agreed to a four year deal worth $180 million with the atlanta falcons. 100 million of that is guaranteed. the 12 year nfl veteran was having one of his best seasons last year, before tearing his achilles in week eight. former raiders running back josh jacobs. he's agreed to a four year, $48 million deal with the green bay packers and five seasons with the raiders. he rushed for close to 6000 yards and scored 63 touchdowns, but finished with career lows in games played, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. this past season with the silver and black okay, one other big name running back on the move, it's saquon barkley. he's leaving the new york giants but staying in the nfc east to join the rival philadelphia eagles. barclays reportedly agreed to a three year deal worth $38 million, and the former second overall pick.
