because i tend to think of this community as a safe place. >> i find it concerning they would choose to do these acts in a time when new faces are coming to the school. not far from where three undergrad students reported a man exposing himself. just after 1:30 on sunday morning. the man drove off. >> a lot of this has happened recently. >> reporter: this case is among a string of unsettling crimes last month. a staff member reported a man came up behind her, grabbing her. the man is not affiliated with the school. on april 19 a grad student said

a man followed her into their hall and exposing themselves in the common area. on april 7, two women reported being groped by a man 20 minutes apart. >> i think it will bring more of the forefront to your minds. and those types of things could happen to the other students. that type of thing could happen to you in a place like stanford. >> reporter: there is no rhyme or reason for these crimes. they can't recall a high number of gropings. >> we do invite the community to come in. >> i think there will be a trend. >> reporter: as they post high- profile sexual assault cases, police say students might be more inclined to report unusual behavior. police welcomed that as manycases go reported on campuses. >> with their campus changing,  it will be real great reporting these incidents are more of a common place. >> reporter: i wanted to show

you how dark this street is as i asked police if there will be a sketch provided and likely not. the victims provided very limited information since there is not much light. but they say the suspect is described as a white man between ages 30 and 50. >> these incidents have happened outside buildings on campus as you have different potential suspects. even if if one person is arrested there could be more cases to come? >> reporter: right. police right now, they're looking for different suspects because of different descriptions, but you're right, it is troubling. that's why they're trying to increase their foot patrols. they want to let the community know and they don't like seeing

the alerts, but they like knowing this is happening so they can be on alert. >> live at stanford, thank you. new at 11:00 is, police have announced the arrest of two suspected burglars. they were arrested yesterday as both men are from brentwood, suspected of creating a burglary at a business yesterday morning. investigators say evidence recovered from layton's home ties him to several other recent burglaries. both of them were booked on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property. we are following developing news out of san diego where eight people were wounded tonight during a shooting rampage. it happened at 6:00 this evening at an apartment complex on university city near uc san diego. a witness said he ran outside when he heard gunfire and he saw the gunman sitting in the pool chair with a beer in one hand and a gun in the other. that is when police moved in and police say it appears the man was reloading his gun and then pointed their weapon at officers.

that's when police say they opened fire killing him. investigators say several of the victims are in critical condition at this hour. so far there is no word on a motive. tomorrow is day one of the bay area's spare the air summer campaign and those alerts might begin this week because of high temperatures. air quality managers, they issue alerts when they are expect today reach unhealthy levels on those days where they urge people to take public transportation and to go national throughout the day to avoid mowers, charcoaled barbecues and aerosol spray cans. >> the weather is warming up. let's go over to mark tamayo in the weather center now with an update on their workweek forecast and a beautiful day today. >> we are wrapping up a very nice weekend and a stretch of warmer days heading towards the bay area with a lot of 80s in a few neighborhoods. we'll be right around 90 degrees possibly for monday, tuesday, and you can count on that wednesday. take a look at the highs from today and actually these temperatures, they are not a big change from their readings

yesterday. but santa rosa 81 degrees. san francisco a very nice 72. san jose 79 and lots of 80s towards livermore, antioch, and concord. here is the overall temperature trend. we warm up a bit on friday and we stabilize a bit on friday. look what happens on monday, tuesday, and wednesday and wednesday will be pretty hot here. outside right now a live camera looking towards the bay bridge with fog-free conditions. we are in the clear and monday will be sunny and warm as well. the main storm track is way up to the north of the bay area and just a few clouds are approaching oregon. that's just about it. we have the clouds in place right there and a bit of a northerly wind will be setting up. with that they will keep the clouds away and the fog away and also warm up those temperatures. coming up, we'll take a closer look at the forecast in your neighborhood and also talk about the cooling that will show up in your five-day forecast. all of that coming up in a few minutes. many services it in sunnyvale will be limited tomorrow as half the city employees are planning to go on strike. that's because city workers and

the city of sunnyvale are at odds over wages. as ktvu leigh martinez reports, the mayor can be forced to roll up his sleeves and pick up the slack. >> reporter: jackie davidson loves her job and was happy to come to work on sunday. but she says being a sun isny veil city employee barely covers the bills. >> every once in a while we are making the cost of living and the cost of housing, especially if you rent. it just continues to go up. >> a lot of city employees want to live in sunnyvale and that is the actual fact. we have people that are driving three plus hours every day to come in. >> reporter: on monday davidson and half of their staff say they are planning to stay home. >> sunnyvale employees are going on strike tomorrow. >> reporter: working in the planning department library and parks, they will join the picket line. the mayor of sunnyvale is prepared to work in the front office this week after sunnyvale employees rejected the city's last offer. >> it includes a 10% raise for

them with generous healthcare benefits. even this last week we've added a $6,000 per employee signing bonus to try to get those deals made. >> reporter: but the sea says that's far from enough. under 16% of the rest of the bay area. >> what sounds like an astronomical number. when you look at the cost of business that's what it is. >> reporter: arguing there hasn't been a raise in five years. >> in 2014/15 i receive add 3 3% -- i received a 3% raise. however we gave back 2% before getting that 3% raise. >> reporter: they took a $300 million hit. the state employee pension program, giving into the employee's raise increase would add $82 million. the city will have to cover in coming years, which could mean layoffs. >> yes, that will be the only way to go ahead and make sure

where she a balanced budget. >> reporter: at this moment the call to strike for the 450 city employees is on. that is unless their union president will call them tonight to say negotiations are back on with the city. otherwise their city employees will join the picket line outside city hall tomorrow morning. in the newsroom leigh martinez ktvu fox 2 news. san francisco police are looking for witnesses to a fatal pedestrian accident last night. they say a 77-year-old woman was crossing lake merced boulevard near font boulevard when she was hit and killed by a pickup truck. police say the driver was a 56- year-old man from millbrae who is cooperating with investigators. they believe people riding in a two-door white sedan may have seen the accident. investigators don't believe the driver of that pickup was impaired. in iraq a u.s. soldier was killed yesterday in an explosion near mosul. the pentagon has not released the soldier's name. this is the third u.s. combat death in iraq and afghanistan

philippine president. he said he wanted to talk to the president about the u.s. philippine alliance against north korea. he's known for a murderous war against drugs by encouraging the killing of drug dealers and users. mr. trump extepidded the invitation without first consulting the national security council or the the state department. former vice president joe biden tried to put rumors to rest tonight saying, "guys i'm not running." biden was putting down the speculations he would be running for 2020. he denied the accusations. instead he reaffirmed his commitment to helping to find a cure for cancer. his son beau died from brain cancer. despite his denial, political reports say members of his staff have been strategizing in case biden decides to throw his hat in the ring. the annual white house correspondence dinner went on without their usual guest of honor. the event attracted hollywood celebrities and the star journalists last night. for the first time in 37 years,

washington and while beyond may 1. on the embarcadero robert handa ktvu fox -- rob malcolm ktvu fox 2 news. a woman attacked bay shark is now fighting for her life according to the gofundme page. the victim was identified on the fundraising website as leanne ericson. her mother wrote her leg was torn from the top of her leg to the knee and doctors say she almost drowned when the shark pulled her under. she was attacked just after 6:00 p.m. last night at the popular surfing spot. that is near camp pendleton. her mother says she is a single mother of three young children and will need help paying for several surgeries. meanwhile that will be closed until tomorrow afternoon. deadly weather hit the midwest in the south and 13 people are dead and dozens more injured after several tornadoes and severe flooding. will carr is in texas with the latest. areas across the midwest and the south, deadly weather this weekend. they grew impassable as heavy

path of destruction. >> i went into a storm shelter today. you could feel the winds and you could just feel the temperatures and the winds and it hit so hard so fast. and it just kept moving. i have never seen anything like it after 22 years of living here. >> reporter: in canton will carr fox news. back in california now the national oceanic and atmospheric administration today said higher temperatures this week are expected to rapidly melt california's record snow pack. forecasters are expecting the merced river near the yosemite to hit flood stage by wednesday. officials are warning swimmers at some california rivers will run colder and faster than usual while that snow melts. that will definitely be wrapping up the snow melt with warming temperatures for monday, wednesday, tuesday. it's that time of the year. probably the warmest in the season and really changing things up in the mountains.

northeast. mainly up in the north with winds around 15 to 20 miles an hour especially up in the north bay for tomorrow. wednesday the hottest day of the week and a sharp drop-off in temperatures on friday and your upcoming weekend. tomorrow morning mostly clear skies. 8:00 a.m. you'll need those sunglasses out there throughout their afternoon hours. basically we will be talking about some 70s right around the bay and a lot of 80s beginning to pop up here as well. that will be the 90-degree mark, getting closer to 90 degrees and a shore thing as they will head towards tuesday and wednesday and take a look at the highs for tomorrow afternoon and for your monday. fairfield 88 degrees. san rafael, mid-80s for most of the beaches, very nice as well. be extra careful with the rip current activity out there. always very dangerous. those rip currents could pop up suddenly and surprise you with a lot of upper 80s towards
