ktvu chap channel 2 news starts right now with breaking news. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. and we have breaking news of two shooting is dent -- incidents. one at a school in washington state. another in sacramento where a sheriff's daupt -- deputy has been shot. the sacramento shooting happened at a motel 6. these are pictures of the scene. witnesses say they heard multiple gunshots. it started in the parking lot with an investigation into a carjacking. >> the suspects were inside of

the vehicle when they fired rounds at the officer approaching the vehicle. i cannot confirm at this time if the officer was able to fire back. i don't know that yet. >> whoever did the shooting is still at large. investigators say they are looking for a red ford f-150 pickup, model year 2002 with california plates. there's no word yet on the condition of the deputy. our other breaking news, police responding to a reported school shooting in marysville, washington. about 35 miles north of seattle. according to local tv stations, two students have been shot and were being airlifted to a hospital. video showed students being evacuated from marysville high school in high school near everette. as soon as we get more information, we'll update you on both of these stories. again, a possible school shooting near seattle and a sheriff's deputy shot in sacramento. orange and black being

proudly displayed around the bay area as giants' fans gear up for the first home game of the world series. in just a few hours, the giants are scheduled to take the field at at&t park. this is video of them practicing yesterday immediately after flying home from kansas city and landing at sfo. and we have team coverage as the bay area gets ready to host the first game of the fall classic. rosemary orozco and alex savidge are monitoring weather and traffic if you are heading to the game tonight but we begin with katie utehs live at at&t park where i'm sure it's already buzzing out there. good morning, katie. >> reporter: good afternoon. the energy is absolutely infectious. the royals just rolled in, via a san francisco police escort. i would have to imagine in the giants' players are not already inside they will be arriving soon. crews are getting the last- minute touches put on the ballpark. there are plenty of fans.

i ran into a small fan. he has to be my favorite so far. he traveled all the way from georgia with his dad. a 7-year-old. he tells me his favorite player is pablo sandoval. this will be ryan siegel's first world series game. the memory of a lifetime for fans young and old. the video you are seeing is from inside the dugout store. we shot it within the hour. fans are clearing the shelves. you can expect the park to be packed with orange and blackened to. but i did spot one kansas city royals fan who lives in san francisco although he seemed to be on the fence on which team heade meyers more. >> it's been a long time coming. 29 years. i'm pretty fired up. i love the giants. there are a similar ballclub. i love the way they play

baseball. they are not really a bunch of superstars. it's just a team. i like the way they get it done. it's a good series. >> reporter: now, this morning, you may have watched sal castanedo and tara moriarty reporting from inside the ballpark. they had so much fun you can hardly call it work. sal asked larry baer the question everyone is thinking as the giants play their third world series in five years. >> reporter: does it ever get old? >> it doesn't get old. i think it makes us feel young. you have a community cometh together. that's a powerful thing and today with the things we face in our lies, this is something where we can take a step back and all enjoy something together. >> reporter: making the series and winning never gets old. the ktvu crews are surrounding the ballpark. we're out here in full force

and everybody is really excited to bring our extended baseball coverage. i have to tell you, you are likely the only person left back in the studio. everybody out here is enjoying themselves even though we are working. >> i know. i do have a little bit of company. we have rosemary here in the studio with a look in store about the weather around the ballpark. good afternoon, wearing or orange. >> yes, indeed. what a beautiful day. you saw katie's live picture. beautiful blue skies. here's another perspective across the bay. again, a nice one. temperatures, around 68 degrees. as we get into the second half of the afternoon, we're looking at 70 for the afternoon and light winds. but by the evening hours, those winds are expected to pick up. so the forecast at game time, partly cloudy skies. 70 degrees. beautiful day for a ballgame. those southerly winds to about 20 miles per hour. so it could be breezy for the second half of the afternoon and into the evening hours. those winds associated with the

system that will bring us some wet weather for saturday. i'm going to track that system for you, show you whether it will impact the game coming up. >> thank you, rosemary. for those who are daring enough to drive into the city for the game, here is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza, that's still five hours before the first pitch. traffic looks very smooth there. but sal who covers traffic for us has been strongly encouraging people to take bart. now you can see some real-time conditions on the maps. it looks like a little bit of red for those folks heading north on 880 in yellow and also for those folks heading south on 880 heading toward the bay bridge. a little bit of reds there -- red there as well. many people being urged to use public transportation to get to and from the games. alex savidge talked to riders at b.a.r.t. and have made arrangements for the game. how is it looking out there? >> reporter: good morning to

you. it's really gonna pick up as we move throughout the afternoon. we ran into a lot of giants' fans. a lot of folks will be calling it quits so they can get home and watch the game. those lucky fans with tickets to game 3 tonight will likely be hopping on b.a.r.t. to get into the city. giants' fans were boarding b.a.r.t. trains at the fremont station ahead of the world series game in san francisco. there will be longer b.a.r.t. trains running all day to get all of those fans into and out of the city. joan steele will be among them. she's heading to at&t park tonight. a long-time giants' fan with the flags, key and necklace to prove it. >> looking forward to it. gonna be fun and hopefully mr. hudson can pull it out. >> reporter: as we saw during the nlcs, a trip to the ballpark is not cheap. steele is going with a friend who bought the tickets. she knows they will be expensive but will find out how

expensive later on tonight. >> it will be a surprise. i don't tell my husband. that's all. >> reporter: giants' fans are finding ways to support their team. we ran april cross this woman who wore -- across this woman who wore an orange dress and true giants' fans won't let anything keep them from watching the series. this man's birthday is tonight. they will be celebrating at the house but the game will be on in the background. >> i got her a bracelet with orange and black on it. she's not a big sports fan but gets the motif. >> reporter: and public transportation is your best option. along with ten-car trains, b.a.r.t. will have extra hands onhand, special trains that will be on standby throughout the afternoon and evening and if the platforms get crowded, especially in the downtown san

francisco area with giants' fans, those trains will move in and scoop everybody up and get them home safe. we're live in fremont, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. that's good to know. thank you. one person who is definitely ready for tonight's game is giants' starting pitcher tim hudson. the 39-year-old is the oldest player on the giants' roster and leads pitchers with 214 career inwiths of he's been on teams that made the playoffs seven different times. but tonight will be the first time he's pitched in the world series. >> here i am. things are -- you know, it's funny how things fall into place. this is -- this is exactly how i envicksed it. it's kind of crazy to see it happen and, you know, throughout the season. i feel very, very lucky. it's almost a sense of relief. it's -- you know, that it's finally here. what i hope and dream for

we're following breaking news out of oakland. there are is a lot of police activity at san pablo and mead avenue near interstate 980. newschopper2 is overhead as oakland police, u.s. marshals and the fbi took several people into custody. we're still working to get information on why these agencies are conducting this raid. we'll bring you any new information as it comes into the newsroom. we'll also update the situation on twitter and facebook. doctors say nina pham, the

first person infected with ebola in the united states, is now free of the virus. pham walked out of the hospital in bethesda maryland and spoke briefly to the press before heading to a meeting with president obama. she caught the deadly disease caring for a patient in dallas. >> throughout this ordeal, i've put my trust in god and my medical team. i am on my way back to recovery even as i reflect on how many others have not been so fortunate. >> in the meantime, in new york city, mayor deblasio says a team of disease detectives will worst on -- report on the movements of the first person dig -- diagnosed there. dr. craig spencer had been treating patients with ebola and came back to new york city

last week. a family of four barely escaped from their home overnight. this all happened around 3:00 in the morning in milpitas on farm crest street near piedmont road. all four family members were on the roof when crews arrived. two jumped to safety while two came down on a ladder. the grandmother was burned on her arms and was taken to a hospital. >> they are very, very lucky. they are probably in the one last occupiable space the home had. >> after putting the fire out, firefighters found the family dog dead inside the home. no word on what what started the fire. investigators say its to not appear to be -- it does not appear to be suspicious. giants' fans will be out in full force rooting for the home team. not all of them will be inside at&t park. ktvu's janine de la vega caught up with one superfan who will be hanging out in the water at mccovey cove. >> my friend made me this world

conditions but mainly dry conditions over the north corner of california. this is the system we're tracking for tomorrow. as early as tomorrow morning, i'm talking overnight hours into tomorrow morning. the rain will begin to fall. we'll speed up the time line here. it started at 5:00 a.m. just to show you what i mean of the over the north bay we have light rain falling. it's down along the coastline. light drizzle expected by 6:00, 7:00, it begins to shift into the central bay, have the peninsula, the east bay here, still over the north bay, by 8:00, 9:00, it marches on into the inner east bay. it's into the south bay. by 0 10:00, 11:00, we get a break. but scattered showers on and off, spotty showers continue throughout the afternoon. here we stop it at game time, game 4 saturday afternoon and notice scattered showers in the forecast and we really continue this way all the way into the evening hours before it finally dries out. we do have the possibility of scattered showers in the forecast for tomorrow and into the afternoon when the unstable air moves through. even the slight chance for thunderstorms. we'll be tracking that closely

for you. meanwhile, as far as amounts, anywhere from didn't 10 to .25 or so for the -- .10 to .25 or so for the central locations. temperature, 66 san francisco. 68 in novato. for the afternoon, widespread 70s. low to mid-70s around the bay. the extended forecast with your bay area weekend always in view, in addition to the wet weather on saturday, temperatures will fall back in the low 70s for our inland communitieses, low 70s around the bay. 60s by the coast. temperatures don't warm, we sort of stay put sunday, monday and tuesday. back back to the two breaking news stories. the search is on for a red ford- 150 extended cab pickup in sacramento believed to be involved in a shooting that injured a sheriff's deputy late this morning. it happened a motel on arden

way near howe avenue. witnesses told police they heard multiple gunshots. no word on the condition of the deputy or the identify of the other victim. our other breaking news story, police in washington state now say a shooter is dead after an attack at a high school just north of seattle. according to police, the shooter was a student. video from hole tv station shows students being evacuated from marysville high school. 30 miles north of seattle. according to local reports, that student opened fire in or near the high school's cafeteria. we'll be back with a check on wall street. another big swing for stocks.

stocks are higher on wall street putting the market on track for its best week in almost two years. traders got encouraging news from microsoft and u.p.s. but amazon is down over 8% after the company reported a steeper-than-expected loss in the latest quarter. taking a live look at the big board, the dow is up 107. the nasdaq is up 20 and the s&p is up 10. sears could soon be chosing more than 100 stores and laying off more than 5,000 employees. according to reports, the retailer is still struggling and is now planning to step up store closures. earlier this year, the company closed 96 of its others within a six-month period. sears says next month when it

reports its quarterly earnings it will have a better idea how many more stores it will close in the future. when the giants take the field in just under five hours, one san jose breast cancer survivor will be fulfilling a life-long dream. eileen lowe will be at the game watching from the breechers. she was -- bleachers. she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer eight months ago and has undergone a double mast ecket tim, chemotherapy and radiation. with her last session on wednesday, she will be focused on cheering on the home team. >> i have no idea they are gonna win this one. it will just be all-around superexciting. >> lowe will be among the fans the giants invited to roll out the american flag before the start of the game. she says during the game, her seat may be in the bleachers but her heart will be out on the field. our live coverage from at&t park starts at:00 -- at:00 this
