ballots could confuse voters on election day. we'll we'll tell you how one bay area city is scrambling to fix the problem before voters head to the polls. >> reporter: we're live in san jose where hundreds of people are being told not to drink the water at their homes because of e. coli contamination. we'll tell you what the water company is doing to fix the problem and how residents are coping. "mornings on 2" starts now. good morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." you are looking at live pictures of a popular diner in kansas city, where game 2 of the world series will be played this evening. kansas city fans, you have to say they are hoping their team can bounce back from a crushing 7-1 loss against the giants in game 1. kind of interesting headline there, bummer. we've got live team coverage from kansas city and san francisco. coming up in three minutes, mike mibach has a special wager

going on with a big royals' fan you don't want to miss it. i'm tori campbell. >> i'm dave clark. let's talk about weather and traffic. we have a beautiful forecast for kansas city. it will be nice there. 70 degrees first pitch. the big question, game 3 back hole. it looks warm and windy to me. mostly sunny to partly cloudy. a little chilly to some. partly sunny but mild to warm even though we're starting off very cold. there is a big moisture source taking aim at northern california. mostly sunny, partly cloudy skies. noticeable chill in the air. 43 at the napa airport. that's the coolest i could find. 40s in la fayette, alamo and san ramon. all of the way down to morgan

hill and find some 44s. a lot of rain will fall to the north. some of this will make it to the south. but not until tomorrow, then we lift it up and not bring it in until late friday or early saturday. 60s or 70s. we've had a fire in gilroy. three alarms, sal? >> that's right. we'll have a report coming up. but 101 in gilroy, you might be able to see that from the highway. we have an update on that coming up. i want to mention sop of the thask that we -- some of the traffic that we have coming up to the bay bridge. still normal 20, 25-minute delay at the toll plaza and once you get on the bridge, it looks good. in the last few days, they got rid of the bumps on the bridge that was causing slow traffic. that's a thing of the past. no major problems on the bridge unless there's a crash, of course, and there isn't right now. northbound 880 it looks like there's something going on north of high street. i see a chp getting up to something that's going on there northbound 880 at 29th, there is a report of -- it's either a noninjury accident or something

going on there. we'll update you on that. westbound 580 as you drive through the livermore valley, you will see slow traffic and on 680 southbound coming out of pleasanton. back to the desk. >> thank you, sal. we begin with the breaking news. we first reported it an hour ago. sal, you touched on it. there is a large pallet fire burning in the south bay. it's at ferguson and cruz roads. this is a view over the scene from newschopper2. firefighters from calfire and the gilroy and the san jose fire departments are there right now. we're told the area is about 10,000 square feet. to give you a better reference point. the area is east of highway 101 about a mile from the premium outlets right off highway 101. a command post has been set up. so far no injuries have been reported. but we see an awful lot of flames from this view from newschopper2. brian flores is headed there right now. we'll have a live report

here, tori. big smile on my face after the win for the giants. can't say the same for the royce' fans. getting some heckling down here, a couple boos. i can take it. i feel lonely but i they are very gracious. beth, tell me about the game last night. >> last night was an unfortunate chain of events. that's okay. the royals are strong and rumming back. i think it was bumgarner blowing his nose all of the time. >> we're gonna send home a box of tissues when he's trying this year because the royals are gonna win. >> reporter: i want to bring our audience back into the kitchen. i want to introduce you to the chef. what's happening? what did you think about the

7:13. people in one san jose neighborhood are being told not to drink or cook with the water at their homes because of e. coli contamination. the san jose water company is working to fix the problem. ktvu's janine de la vega joins us live from san jose to tell us how many people are affected by this. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. we spoke to a man earlier this morning who lives in the area affected. here in this neighborhood, this is near landisavenue. he's using bottled water but he got a notice posted on his door basically saying that e. coli was in his water. he got nervous because he had already drank coffee that he had brewed with water from the faucet. now, here is the area affected. it's in north san jose close to the milpitas border. the san jose water company handed out notices to 300 homes telling them the water may have been contaminated with the e. coli bacteria. they've been advised it's not

safe to drink water. if they are gonna cook they need to boil it. milpitas school is in the neighborhood and there's warnings to students and staff. the problem was discovered when crews were replacing a pipeline and took samples and found the contamination. san jose water officials say after further testing, they've determined the water is only contaminated at 50 homes on sidney drive and sidney court. we spoke with a man who lives on that road this morning. >> i knew they were tearing unstreet and they probably made a -- up the street and they probably made a mistake. at least they are giving you free water. i would expect some type of rebate on my bill at least. >> reporter: san jose water is providing free bottled water at fire station 19 located at sierra and piedmont road. a spokesman said the ban to drink water is still in effect for all 300 homes and the school because only the state

water resources control board can lift the ban. it won't do that until all samples from the area come back clear. san jose water says the contamination like this is a rare occurrence and crews will continue to flush the water main until the problem is fixed. we've been told that crews are supposed to show up at about 8:00 a.m. to continue fixing this problem p.m. reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, janine. we want to take you back now to the breaking news we've reported at the top of this newscast. a massive pallet fire continues to rage out of control in gilroy. moments ago, brian flores arrived at ferguson and cruz roads east of highway 101. brian, what can you tell us about the fire? >> reporter: hi, tori. good morning. crews continue to battle the fire. we saw the smoke as we were coming down here. it's east 101 near the premium outlets. as you can see, several fire

crews are here. gilroy, morgan hill, calfire here responding to the three- alarm fire that started about 5:00 this morning. you are taking a live look at the ground shots here. you can see several pallets. but you are looking at older cars and a barn. it's covered up by smoke. you can't seep it but there's a barn -- see it. but there is a barn that suffered damage. the fire has closed off ferguson road from highway 152 to dunlap. highway 152 to 101 is the alternate. still unclear what started this fire. but again, fire crews several fire crews are out here this morning, three-alarm fire. no reports of injuries or evacuations either. there is a command post, a command center not too far from here, roughly about 150 or so yards. working to get more information about how the fire started. it looks like crews have this

under control this morning. still working. pretty impressive fire that was seen eastbound of highway 101. we'll keep you updated on "mornings on 2." we're live in gilroy, brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. thank you, brian. let's check in with sal. sal, you've got your hands full. i know you are watching highway 124. >> that's right. we don't have any big problems. i will show you highway 24 and the drive time. a lot of this is right here in our picture. you can see a lot of -- bunching up here on 24 as you drive toward the la fayette b.a.r.t. station. i'm looking around to see if there's anything new that popped up on 24. i don't see anything. chp is not reporting anything. let's move along to the bay bridge toll plaza, that's a 30 to 35-minute delay coming into san francisco with no major issues. i want to look at the peninsula

southbound 101. you can see southbound 101 traffic is a little bit busy. looks like we have something minor southbound 101 near third. watch for slow traffic. 280 is doing very well down the peninsula. 7:18. back to the desk. steve, how could i forget you? >> inever forget you. >> the sunrise pictures came roaring in. we had a bright orange sky. not as good as ten minutes ago. kevin sent me a picture and said it was here but now it's gone. we had a spectacular view. orange sky. a lot of clouds continuing to roll into the north. oh, my gosh there's gonna be a lot of rain from eureka, crescent city northward. some of this will make it into mendocino county. and then it will put on the air brakes and not come in until late, late, late friday after game 3. some partly cloudy skies. these higher clouds are coming

in. the rain beginning to pick up. there could be 3, 4 inches. normal is 53, 69. the record low, 47, 1949. the record high 90. have to go back to 1929 for that. 40s on the temps. napa airport is 43. half moon bay, 46. walnut creek 46 degrees. sunnyvale, upper 40s. los gatos 48. a lot of comments people saying it's cold this morning. 49 morgan hill to even gilroy. 32 in tahoe. 39 reno. that little front that came in, didn't have much rain but had a lot of cool air. look at all of the moisture. the key will be the rain line where it stops. it looks like it will be santa rosa as we go into friday morning and then we'll have to wait until late friday into saturday. but there will be heavy-duty rain coming in especially on the north coast. you can see the system.

watch the clouds dip. it does that. the low will be developing offshore. a lot of clouds to the north. machine, partly cloudy. a chilly morning. 60s, 70s. not only the lows but so are the highs. no issues for game 2. it will be just as nice. 70 degrees first pitch. windy and warm i think as we head toward the latter part of the week. rain light friday, early saturday. there will be a huge difference in the temps friday and saturday. >> really? >> yeah. >> and it was chilly this morning in the 40s. >> thank you. 7:21. well, with halloween right around the corner, officials are trying to ease fears about mountain lions after an increase in sightings in the south bay. fish and wildlife held a meeting in south san jose to address the concerns. a home surveillance camera caught a mountain lion pouncing on a car near the almaden country club. we showed you this pick a little while ago.

a woman said her daughter saw one outside of their home in santa teresa. >> we a big window. the window was open. she was afraid for her life. she hid until it passed. >> wildlife officials want to educate people about what to do if they see a mountain lion. the best thing make yourself look as big as you can. if you have a sweatshirtor jacket, hold it over your head. make a lot of noise. and that will hopefully scare it away. that's kind of anti-intuitive. you just want to run. >> i don't doubt them but okay, that's a mountain lion. there is a new effort to build new stadiums for the raiders and the as. coming up in 23 minutes, the investors who is talking about financing that $2 billion project. positive vibes are heading back to kansas city this morning as the giants prepare for game 2. after the break, some of the superstitions fans

americans who get social security can expect to see a little more money in their checks next year. this morning, the government announced a 1.7% increase in monthly checks for 015. that's about $20 for the average social security recipient. it goes into effect on january 1st. the cost of living adjustment was 1.5% this year. a piece of apple history is on the auction block. one of the first 50 computers made by apple is for sale. it's called the apple 1. it hits a lot less sleek than anything apple currently makes. it sold for $666 when it went on sale in 1976. this one, though, is expected to go for between $300,000 and

$500,000. let's go back to talking about the giants and the world series. some of the fans are over the top when it comes to how far they will go to support the giants. for some of the fans that means being real superstitious. we met this guy, a web developer in san jose. he watched the game at one of his favorite hangouts. he has to sit at one particular table. >> we were sitting here last time. we must sit here again or else we break it and they might lose. hey, it's working. >> reporter: of course. >> it really seemed to work. giants won last night, 7-1 other fans had to wear their lucky jerseys. we found a woman who named her dog torres andres named after the out fielder. we want to hear your superstitions. i know you got them. what did you do last night that you think helped giants win game one?

47 menlo park. some low 50s. foster city is right there. san mateo a little warmer. but not much towards belmont. look at the source of moisture. that will give heavy-duty rainfall. some of that will get towards our area in 12 minutes. mostly sunny, a chilly morning. more clouds to the north. more sub to the south. 67 os and also 70s -- 60s and also 70s. sal, any improvements on the gilroy fire? yeah, fortunately, it's not affecting the traffic on 101 all that much. people are on 152. by the way, we'll have a report from the scene coming up. there's slow traffic in the east bay this morning on highway 24. a lot of it is here west of the caldecott. most of the slow traffic is approaching b.a.r.t. which you see off the left. once you get past that, it looks better for the drive into oakland. if you are going as far as the bay bridge, there's a 25, 30- minute delay on the toll plaza. nothing major on the span that's causing the slow

series at at&t park. >> all of the people wearing orange and black to support the giants, that's translating to a lot of green for the city of san francisco. ktvu's tara moriarty is near the ballpark this morning where businesses are getting a giant boost it does everybody have world series fever. >> reporter: orange and black is everywhere. i got this scarf in 2010 right after the giants won the world series. giants' fans are snatching up all they can, all of the jackets, jerseys and hats. all of those sales mean more tax dollars raised for the city. from buying drinks and dinner, giants' gear and hotels, fans are spending and san francisco is raking in the profits. we hit phil's coffee where the manager says hunter pence and michael morse have been customers. >> we're typically busy but

actions of giants' pitcher sergio romo hours after the giants clinched that spot in the world series. now, according to the chronicle, the police got a report of two men trying to push a woman into an suv at taylor and post streets about 2:00 a.m. last friday. the woman was identified as sergio romo's girlfriend. when police tried to sort out what happened, they say that romo reportedly exchanged heated words with police officers. they eventually concluded no crime had been committed. but there are sources who are saying this case has been sent to special investigations to make sure the statements of the couple are accurate. 7:36. the alameda county registrar of voters, scrambling. they are trying to fix a mistake made on thousands of mail-in ballots sent to voters in berkeley. alex savidge joining us live now. you can show us the error and also tell us what voters are saying about this mixup.

good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning. some voters may not have noticed this area. you have to take a crows look at the mail-in -- close look at the mail-in ballot. it says election day, november 5th, 2014. the only problem is, election day is actually the day before, november 4th. this is a small mistake, of course. but it's one that could confuse a lot of voters. 27,000 of these vote by mail envelopes with the wrong day on them were sent to voters in berkeley. the county registrar of voters is sending letters and e-mails to all of those people making sure they know the correct date for the election. of course, this mistake could be problematic because in order for your ballot to count, it must be received by 8:00 p.m. on election day. this morning we caught up with one voter here in berkeley who says this really isn't the biggest issue but it should have been caught. >> it should be computerized. i'm surprised there's that kind of an error. those things happen. i know this other counties there are issues as well, where

they've gotten things incorrect in the ballot itself. that's even more serious. >> reporter: election officials here are blaming this mistake on a printer that's used by many large counties across california to print election materials. it's important to point out that all of the other materials mailed to voters including the ballots themselves do have the correct election date printed them. election officials are grad they caught this error early on because it gives them to straighten it out. the message to people in berkeley who vote by mail, mail that ballot, so it arrives by tuesday, november 4th. alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. very interesting. thank you. a new associated press poll came out of likely voters released two weeks before the november election. it found that 55% of likely voters now expect republicans to win control of the senate even though seven out of ten say they are not happy with republican leaders in congress.

the economy, that's the number one issue for voters along with healthcare and terrorism. 7:38. a memorial ceremony is set for noon today on the sonoma state university campus. protesters will mark today's first anniversary of the fatal shooting of 13-year-old andy lopez in santa rosa. similar demonstrations are planned in san francisco, oakland and berkeley. sheriff's deputy erick gelhaus shot and killed the teenager after mistaking his pellet gun for a real assault rifle. on monday, a county-appointed task force criticized the sheriff's department's decision to return gelhaus to street cutie. cue -- duty. under a new or dip nance smoking tobacco and electronic cigarettes will be banned in condos and townhouses. people who don't comply you could be fined up to $100 for

the golden gate bridge district meets friday to take up a controversial proposal to charge people who walk or bike across the bay area's world- famous bridge. drivers pay up to $7 for a trip across the golden gate but the many people who walk or bike across the bridge every day do it for free. all of that could change, though, due to the bridge district's budget problems. >> the district has a $33 million, five-year deficit that they are trying to address. >> charging to walk or bike across the bridge creates a distance center for walking and biking. >> it's still not clear how much the toll would be if the board approves the plan. an investor is interesting in financing the $2 billion coliseum city project in oakland. floyd kephart appeared yesterday with mayor quan.

several fire crews remain. some have been allowed to leave. but it's still unclear what started the fire. but the fire crews will be here for the next couple of hours put out hot spots. i want to go to video from newschopper2. this is from above. you can see how large this fire was. a three-alarm response. started around 4:00 a.m. on a pallet yard and ranch. the 2100 block of ferguson. as a result, the fire has closed off ferguson road from highway 152 to dunlap. that remains closed. still, highway 152 is the alternate. there was challenges. the battalion chief we spoke to from calfire says water source or finding water here is already a struggle which is why they this -- had to have a heavy response. >> we have no water. we had a tremendous amount of fire. the fire was 200, 300 feet in the air. and one tank of water can't do

it. so our fire engines and our water trucks had to roll into gilroy, fill off their fire hydrants and return here to try to slow the fire spread. >> reporter: still unclear what started this fire but investigators are here. there was a barn nearby that originally thought to have suffered severe damage. but we understand from firefighters that about a fifth of the barn was damaged. fire officials estimate that also about 10 to 20 families who lived on this property, this agricultural property they were evacuated. they are doing okay. no injuries reported as well. crews say right now the game plan, least for the next couple of hours, is to basically let the fire burn out. they won't be pouring any more water on it. they will be here for the next several hours looking for hot spots. brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. thank you. still ahead, there is a new smoking ban here in the bay area. coming up at 8:40, the county

8:14. an update to the developing news in canada we first reported 20 minutes ago. reports from ottawa say an unknown gunman with a hunting rifle opened fire at a war memorial early this morning. a soldier standing guard was wounded in the attack. canada police were warning people in ottawa to stay away from windows, roofs and -- after the parliament shooting but several reports say the gunman has been shot and killed inside the parliament building. this comes two days after two canadian soldiers were run over and one was killed in quebec by a man with jihadist sympathies. with halloween right around the corper, officials are trying to ease fears about mountain lions in the south bay. fish and wildlife held a meeting last night in south san jose to address concerns over

the sightings. one person said there's surveillance video that caught a puma pouncing on their car. another woman said her daughter spotted one outside their home in santa teresa. officials say if you see a mountain lion make yug self as big as possible and make a lot -- make yourself as big as possible and make a lot of noise. residents are being told not to drink or cook with the water in your house because of e. coli contamination in one neighborhood. janine de la vega joins us live to tell us how the water department plans to fix this problem. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning dave. we are here at milpitas christian school in san jose near the border. students are starting to arrive. the principal told us that the san jose water company told them as a precaution, they shouldn't drink the water. they've been e-mailing parents about this and bottled water has been brought in. here is the area affected. it is in north san jose close

to the milpitas border as i mentioned. the san jose water company handed out notices to 300 homes in the area near piedmont and landisroad. they can take showers and wash their hands but the residents have been advised it's not safe to drink the water. if they are gonna cook, they need to bile it. the problem was discovered when crews were replacing a pipeline and took samples attarria you and found the -- in the area and found contamination. they dermed the water is only -- determined the water is only connated at 50 -- contaminated at 50 homes. but as a precaution, the school has signs posted around the campus and in the bathrooms warnings students and staff. the water has been shut off to the school's drinking fountains as well. >> we also went and purchased a lot of the hand sanitizer to make parents an children feel

more comfortable with that but the bottled water situation is taking care of all of our needs. >> san jose water is providing free bottled water at fire station 19 at sierra and piedmont road. a spokesman says the ban to drink water is still in effect for all 300 homes and the school because only the state water resources control board can lift the ban. and it won't do that until all samples from the area come back clear. san jose water says contamination like this is a rare occurrence and crews are gonna be out here. they arrived a short time ago. i think we see them down the street. what they are gonna be doing is flushing out the water main and, again, taking samples until the results come back clear. reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. that's a unique way to start a new way. thank you. let's check in with sal and traffic. i know you are about to look at the toll plaza. but i know on friday, the toll plaza will be cray with people

excitement is really growing for game two of the world series. coming up, tara moriarty will have more on how the orange and black is turning the city green in a lot of ways. october 22nd, wednesday. i'm dave clark. let's talk about weather and traffic. steve paulson is back here again. the forecast kind of interesting. >> there is a lot of high clouds. really cool this morning. temperatures kind of recovering a little bit here. we're getting near seasonal averages. slightly above. farther north you go, you will find more partly cloudies. farther south, more mostly sunnies. there is a lot of cloud cover racing in here. unfortunately -- we could use the rain. it does not look like much will happen until maybe tomorrow some towards mendocino county, lake county. could make it down to santa rosa. san francisco today 56, 68. that's pretty close to average which is 53 -- which is 53, 69. the record 90 -- high 1990.

48 morgan hill. low 50s for many. it was cold this morning. cloudy, some rain to the north but mostly sunny for us. more clouds farther north you go and a chilly morning. temperatures today, 60s and also 70s. sal? >> yes, sir p.m. >> any improvements on the traffic? >> steve, i'm glad you asked me that question. we do have some improvement. we'll start out at the bay bridge toll plaza. there has been some improvement. if you look to the right of your screen, there is more room coming up and the 880 ramp is getting better. we haven't had any major problems on the bridge. it's starting to begin -- it's beginning to get better into the city. it's about a 20-minute drive time from there to the san francisco side also looking at 101 in san francisco, that looks positively good as you approach the split. 101 to the airport it's a nice day. san jose is improving a little

air bnb. supporters of the change cheered after a split vote by the board of supervisors passed the measure. it will allow property owners to legally offer their homes as short-term rentals but it limits rentals to a total of 90 days a year and air bnb will have to pay the hotel tax which is expected to raise millions of dollars a year for the city. the mayor said he will sign the measure in law. the legislation is scheduled to go into effect in february. the alameda county reck strar of voters scrambling to mix -- registrar of voters scrambling to fix an error on ballots sent to voters in berkeley. alex savidge is live to show us what the mistake was and what voters are saying about it. >> reporter: good morning. some voters are really concerned this mistake could cause confusion. take a close look at this mail-

in ballot envelope. it says election day, november 5th, 2014 but in actuality, election day is november 4th, the day before. 27,000 ballots just like this one were mailed out to voters in berkeley recently with the wrong date on them. now an effort is underway to correct the problem. the county is sending people and e-mails to all of the people who received those ballots to make sure they know the correct date for the election. of course, this mistake could be problematic because in order for your ballot to be valid it needs to be received by 8:00 p.m. on election day, one day late won't cut it. i caught up with one voter, he told me he's glad election officials are working to get the word out. >> if you were putting it off, if people are busy, if you have a job and kids and you know, you are looking at the front and you have an extra day, yeah, it -- that would not

count. >> reporter: and election officials are blaming this mistake on a printer used by many large counties across the state, including alameda. all of the other materials that have been mailed to voters here in berkeley, including the ballots themselves do have the correct election date printed on them. of course, the message for people here in berkeley who vote by mail, make sure that ballot will arrive by the end of the day on tuesday, november 4th. election day. we're live in berkeley, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> it will be interesting to see how this turns out. a new associated press poll found 55% of likely voters now expect republicans to win control of the u.s. senate in the november election. even though 7 out of 10 say they are not happy with republican leaders in congress. the economy is the top issue along with healthcare and terrorism. well, the latest autopsy on michael brown may side with the

police officer's account of that deadly shooting in ferguson, missouri. the st. louis post dispatch reported an analysis of the autopsy. according to that report, michael brown was shot in the hand at close range. michael brown, as you know, was the unarmed teenager shot and killed by a ferguson, missouri police officer earlier this year. it triggered nationwide demonstrations. the police officer says he and michael michael brown fought over the gun. the officer said when he thought he had control of the gun, he fired twice, hitting michael brown in the hand. back here at home, we have a followup on a story about a woman what claims her uber driver dragged her out of the his car in san francisco and smashed her phone. the driver, martin, told the san francisco chronicle he never touched the woman or her phone during that incident on saturday. martin says the woman was angry before she got into the car. he asked her to get out after she refused to give him an

address or cross streets for her destination. now, he says the woman flagged down a police officer only after he told her he was going to get police involved. martin was cited for three misdemeanors. uber deactivated him as a driver. 8:40. female firefighters from the san francisco fire department are taking part in a potentially groundbreaking study on breast cancer. local researchers are examining blood and urine samples from 80 female firefighters. and they are comparing that data to samples from 80 city workers to see if the firefighters are at a higher risk of developing breast cancer. similar studies have been done before but have included both men and women but the sample of female firefighters was so small to draw any conclusions. san mateo county approved a new ban that would make it illegal for some people to smoke in their homes. under the new ordinance,

smoking tobacco and e- cigarettes will be prohibited in all apartments, condos and townhouses. those who don't comply could be fined up to $100 for the first infraction and $200 for the second one. the new law goes that effect at the end of -- goes into effect at the end of next year. a man from arizona says his new iphone is literally the hottest device on the market. look at this. coming up at 8:55. what he says caused the phone to catch fire in his pocket. superstitions surrounding the world series. the very specific things giants' fans are doing in hopes of securing another win for their team. right now traffic is going to be busy on the san mateo bridge heading out to the high rise. no problems. but it's cre busy across from the -- very busy across from the peninsula. cool air is in place from the weak system on monday. cloud cover continues to drift in. mostly sunny now. but clouds are on the way. we'll see if there's any rain with that.

take a look at the new video. 56-year-old jeffrey foul reunited with his family this morning after spending the last five months in custody in north korea. now, he was picked up yesterday on a u.s. military plane. he was arrested back in may for leaving a bible in a nightclub. it's not clear why the north korean government decided to set him free now. an arizona man said he was burned when his new iphone 6 caught fire while in his pocket. phillip lector says the phone bent in his front pocket. that popped the lithium battery which started the fire. he says the phone burned through his jeans and his boxers. >> it was -- it was pretty scary. the flames were coming out of the pocket. the smoke was coming right out of here. but it did burn me right here as i pulled it out. >> lector said threw the phone. someone poured ice on it. he could hear it sizzle. apple replaced the phone.
