hey, everybody, i'm beth troutman, we've got the best videos of the day for you -- "right this minute"! a man steals a cop car and blazes down a busy freeway. but wait, there's more. >> is he wearing like you know, underwear. >> he's wearing little tighty blackies. >> meet the guy who puts crazy, in crazy car chase. this whole time i've been freaked out and paranoid about sharks. >> after you see this video you will fear the orca. >> why did they call them killer whales? >> boom. cameras catch a dog napping. >> they stole blue a couple of
9:01 am
days before christmas. >> now blue's owners break news on "right this minute." >> blue was returned to us this morning. >> oh! and combine tandem sky-diving, base jumping and pure guts. what do you get? something steven won't try. >> because i'm holding your hand and we're in the air and then whoa, and then beth dies. we begin our show today, with a story that steven found for us. >> yeah. we know it's a bad idea to steal a car but it's an even worse idea to steal a car that belongs to the department of public safety and it's got a dash cam. >> what? >> that's what 34-year-old ryan elliott cunningham did. he escaped custody after being believed to have drugs and guns in a motel. this motel that we're seeing here. the car he's in, is an suv belonging to the blackman leoni
9:02 am
department of public safety. you saw the guys up on the balcony running after him and he proceeds to take police on a high-speed chase. this thing is a chevy tahoe, but he gets it moving. he's passing people on the shoulder. he's weaving between traffic. >> whoa! >> oh! >> keep your eyes on the video. the camera gets jostled and turns around. >> he's wearing speedos. >> he's wearing like you know, underwear. >> he's wearing little tighty blackies. >> the dude took the suv 75 miles through a number of counties, crashed on the ohio/michigan border. and as you saw, he wasn't wearing much. mr. ryan elliott cunningham was arraigned on seven felony charges and get this, he told the judge, i don't remember much of the chase. >> he probably doesn't. >> doesn't it look like his joyride was very joyous, baseded
9:03 am
on his expression. >> i think that's coming down from whatever it was that made him not remember the car chase. when you guys see this video you're going to say, this is a christmas eve miracle. this is in new mexico. what you're seeing is a cop car that crashedinto the patio of a. specifically -- >> holy cow. he didn't just come in, he flipped over and was on his side. >> uh-huh. and so people had just been sitting in that patio. >> we came in and we were super excited to sit down and eat. and they had just been told, come inside, we have your table ready. when he they rushed outside, there was a fire pit. >> and i'm smelling gas and hearing gas. >> so i, i grabbed this fire pit and dragged it out into the parking lot with the help of a couple people, jumped in and helped me pull it. >> there were some propane tanks. >> we rushed everybody out the back door is what we did, because we didn't know if it was going to blow up. >> how did this happen? >> sheriff's officials say a deputy was heading to a call
9:04 am
with lights and sirens on when another driver hit him. it caused his car to spin out. he hit a snowbank and then flipped on to the restaurant patio. he also took out a couple of other cars in the process. >> was that other car speeding? what was -- what do we know about the other car? >> there's an investigation going on right now as to who hit who first. and the deputy is on paid administrative leave while they figure out what exactly happened with this accident. to go back to what happened, it's amazing that nobody in the restaurant was hurt. >> not a scratch. that's amazing. >> the only thing that was scratched up was the restaurant and that car. we have more dash cam video coming from a police officer's car in seattle. the driver of the car, that you see from this dash cam, is 23-year-old emanuel gabrielle salasi. he was pulled over for going 40 in a 30-mile-per-hour zone.
9:05 am
ecording to emanuel, the cop was acting a bit erratic. cussing and being very aggressive. as the officer goes back to his patrol car, emanuel actually calls 911. >> 911, what are you reporting? >> an illegal stop by an officer. i just want to make sure that you know, he's a real officer. he's talking crazy to me and i'm not going to deal with this guy. >> is it a seattle police car? >> yes. >> yes, seattle police car. he's cussing and i haven't said really anything much to him. >> i'm looking at the call. what can i do for you? >> get outside of the car. >> step out of the car, man. >> well i'm -- >> they realize that he is on his phone. and watch what they do. they yank emanuel gabrielle salasi out of his car on to the ground. the release of this video comes two weeks after the department of justice said that the seattle
9:06 am
police department uses excessive force that is unconstitutional, 20% of the time that they use force. james egan, an attorney that we've had on "right this minute" before, he is representing the driver in this case. we have james egan via skype. what do you think is going on in this video? >> it is clearly excessive force, there's no question it's excessive force. it was absolutely unnecessary to drag him out of the car. >> tell me about your client's record. when he was pulled over. >> my client had zero criminal history, zero. he was booked in jail, spent two days there. >> in your opinion, what is going on with the seattle police department? >> the department of justice said both that there's a pattern of excessive use of force. but they also said there's a serious question about biased policing. the clients that i'm representing happen to be minorities. >> you've asked for the police chief, john diaz, to step down. >> yeah. chief diaz spent 30 years in this force and i don't think
9:07 am
he's very good at policing his own. the mayor has the authority to ask him to leave and terminate his employment. maybe the mayor should do that. >> we contacted seattle pd about this matter and they didn't respond by the deadline. this is a full-on fight between about 100 clergymen at the basilica of the nativity in bethlehem. it is between greek orthodox clergymen and armenian clerics. >> and they're beating each other with brooms and broom handles. >> not only were they fighting, they were throwing them across the room to each other. >> they got together for their annual christmas celebration. which takes place next week. they were sweeping away, but they've always had some sort of quarrel over their jurisdiction within the basilica. >> oh yeah, they've been fighting about that for years. >> except this time, it took a whole different level and they just went at it.
9:08 am
>> these are supposed to be the people that are responsible for helping our souls find salvation. >> and it's happening at the basilica of the nativity. i mean this is supposed to be where jesus was born. >> clearly, they're not reading parts of the new testament that says, let us reason together it doesn't say beat each other upside the head with a broomstick. >> this broul continued until get this, palestinian police came and broke up the fight. >> religion is facing a huge pr problem because of so many is e issues that are attached to the church and this is not helping. >> churches aren't supposed to look like that. >> that's the example they set. look at this. what would you call this sport? >> roller blade skateboarder, robo cop. >> yeah. what nick said. we're showing you how roller man makes it down the hill.
9:09 am
this is andy's quick stop. and this car violates the quick stop rule by not stopping at all. >> whoa. >> see what happens to the guy. >> uh-oh, cat stuck on a utility pole. >> only a cat would do this. >> but wait, these guys to the rescue. what could possibly go wrong. you'll see a little later on.
9:10 am
9:11 am
it's time for -- straight talk with beth and steven. >> hey, cincinnati and west palm beach. can we talk openly? >> yeah, yeah, we noticed or our rating sheet here that not all of you watched all of yesterday's show. >> what's that about? >> yeah. >> we need you. >> yeah, san francisco, birmingham, and cleveland -- yeah. >> great job. >> you guys have done great. >> now cincinnati -- west palm beach, we think that you can do better. >> yeah. step it up a notch. now back to the show.
9:12 am
what you're looking at is a cold lava flow. this is in the island of tenate, which is in indonesia, one of the spice islands, about 29 square miles. they had a volcanic eruption on december 4th. nothing big happened, except people had to be evacuated. but then the other day, it happened again. but this time they had a cold lava flow, which is basically drainage from the volcano, mud, debris, rocks. 2,000 people were displaced because of this. indonesia has dozens of active volcanoes. this is just one of them. but somebody was able to capture this on their phone. >> i don't think i've ever seen anything like this. i've never heard of cold lava. >> multiple people were injured, and the injuries spanned from broken limbs to head injuries because of all the debris. >> the person shooting this is very close to the water. >> it looks like it could rise up much higher at any given moment and sweep this guy away. >> i wonder if he has a choice
9:13 am
to go anywhere other than that. because if you look, the homes are right by the water. >> think about it, you're on an island that's mostly volcano. people live on the sides of the mountain, when that stuff starts to flow down and you have torrential rainfall for three hours, stuff is going to flow. plus this is in a fertile area, so all the water and topsoil, that's rushing down the street. the volcano at one point spewed ash 2,000 kilometers into the air. orca-shark standoff take one. >> the whole time i've been freaked out and paranoid about sharks. it turns out i've been freaked out by the wrong marine animal. >> what? >> don't tell me there's something else i got to be scared of. >> oh, my goodness, look at that. >> that's an orca. taking out several sharks. >> you hear that all the time that orcas are mean, they're really, really deadly. >> why do you think they call them killer whales. >> we've been to sea world.
9:14 am
>> this video was captured by the robertson family at the blue cliffs beach in new zealand. >> i think this orca is awesome. because the orca took out all of these sharks that were pretty darn close to the shoreline this orca saved the lives of people. >> you thought that was close? in this whole whale-eating-shark extravaganza, the sharks got really scared. instead of swimming out to sea, they beached themselves. >> oh, my goodness. >> this is the robertson's family dog and he loved the sharks. orcas are known to attack sharks. can you guess what their favorite strategy move is? >> sneak up from behind. >> they hunt in pods like wolves or they play dead. >> they don't play dead. >> oh. >> they karate-chop the sharks, they will up-thrust with their tail to move the shark up to the surface of the water. they will then pivot and take
9:15 am
their tail out of the water and -- karate chop the shark. >> i think this is awesome, i love this orca. >> you're rooting for an animal that's so deadly it killed the shark. what if this was a nice shark family out for a swim in maybe the mother shark s is teaching the baby shark to swim. >> those sharks learned a real lesson on that swim. >> yee ha! everyone knows, people that watch the show, that i love videos with wheels. and you know what's going to be good, this one has got 32 wheels. >> the video has wheels? >> the guy in the video has 32 wheels. this shoi was shot and produced by danny straser. johnny bundo is known as roller man. he created a suit in his design and engineering class as a project and over time has developed it in several
9:16 am
different iterations. >> what? >> what the heck? >> this roller suit is sort of a combination transformer/rollerblade/skate boarder/robo cop kind of thing. >> wow! >> he is twisting down these mountains on his belly. >> whoa! >> he's got rollerblade wheels on his elbows, hands, toes, knees, on his belly. >> how does he stop? >> great question. he stops similar to how a skateboarder or rollerblader, he slides, skids to the side and that slows him down. he can get up to 70 miles per hour in the suit. look at the reaction he gets from people as he goes through the town. people are amazed to see what he can do. he can go from prone to kneeling to standing like a transformer. >> you know what this reminds me of? it reminds me of the wheelers in "return to oz." >> his face is like two inches from the ground as he's going
9:17 am
by. >> this could be a new olympic sport. next time on "right this minute" -- >> join us this friday for a special year-end m top 2 the 20 best >> friday, on "right this minute." a man, a stroller, and a crying baby recording. >> shut the [ bleep ] up! >> funny prank? or interesting social experiment. and, this mom gives her boys the giggles. >> she's failing miserably is what she's doing. >> failing miserably at juggling is a pretty funny thing. but the laughter is even

across africa came together for the african cups of nations for amputee football players. >> that's incredible. these guys would kick my tail on the pitch. >> with two legs. >> me, too. they're like fast, they've got crutches and they're moving out. >> they're not messing around. they're very, very talented and this is the african cup, you guys, which means there's a world cup that they're trying to get to. it's the tiny 12 amputee football world cup, taking place in iran. and that's what these two teams are duking out for a spot on the world cup. i would like to see you two -- >> oh, my god. if they made a team with me and nick and all the camera guys, we would get killed. we would get smoked. >> this game was between liberia and ghana and liberia won the spot in the 2012 world cup. >> good for you guys, that's awesome. i've got a youtube video for
9:23 am
you that you could call a bit of a social experiment. a guy takes a baby stroller to the streets of new york city, with a cd player inside the baby stroller with the sounds of a baby crying. >> stop! >> so there's no baby in here at all. this is just a guy trying to see how people will respond? >> exactly. >> shut the [ bleep ] up. >> wow. hey! shame on you! >> you do hear a woman yell shame on you, shame on you. >> is it surprising that no one is going up to this guy? >> yes. >> or saying something to him or going to check on this baby. i see that people are disturbed by it. but it doesn't seem like anybody is really doing anything. >> i'm not surprised, i'm not surprised that nobody approached the guy. >> that's a shame. because somebody should have at least called the cops. something. >> i think it's easy for us to sit here and say, oh, i would have done something, i would have stepped in, i would have called the police, but i
9:24 am
honestly think we don't know unless we were in that situation. eventually there are some security people who are after this guy who is guy named ronny jabber, he has a youtube channel and he has prank videos. >> i don't feel that this is a prank.ent. >> security did come after him. so somebody did something about him. got dramatic rescue video to show you. steven, involving your favorite animal, the cat. >> oh. >> kitty stuck at the top of an electrical pole, nowhere to go, doesn't know how to get down. what do you do? say got an electrical utility truck, they flipped the rescuer up on the top of the pole where the cat was stuck. gets the kitty off and -- happy day. kitty is leap. rescued safely in the bucket. oh, but, cat freak out!
9:25 am
ow. now -- >> the cat jumped out of the bucket? >> the cat -- >> after all that, the cat jumped out? >> only a cat would do this. i'm thinking, why doesn't he jump out he's got nine lives. >> what happened to the cat, the cat is okay, a little freaked out but as soon as the lineman put the cat on the ground, he took off. >> that's incredible. that's a long way down. >> only eight lives left. a train goes off-track after disaster strikes. >> look at that right there, there's nothing underneath. >> hear how it happened and what's still lurking in the waters. and a video from down under featuring -- >> an animal versus like a yard tool? >> yeah, we know you're curious about this one, so we'll explain, next.
9:26 am
9:27 am
9:28 am
hi, everybody, i'm beth troutman and it's time for 30 more minutes of "right this minute." let it go, let it go! >> a cranky croc is fed up with a noisy mower. >> so basically, he's the old man who is saying, get off my lawn. >> good luck getting that mower back. see the brave guys who gave it a shot. a car plows through a store window and flattens a guy inside. >> whoa! >> you don't walk away from that one. or, do you? it was his dream wedding day, but was it hers? we grill one of the rowdy groomsmen. >> what did the bride think about all this? >> you know it's official party, yeah? and a recording drives a wolf puppy howling mad. >> hmmm?
9:29 am
we begin this half hour with a story that nick found for us. >> you know the gas pedal and the brake pedal on the car? they put those things really close together sometimes, it's kind of a pesky problem. to andes, quick stop in cleveland, mississippi, surveillance camera footage. you see a car pull up outside and -- whoa! right through the window. the guy that got hit, got up from -- the crash. >> that's anon, the co--owner of andy's. and the only thing that happened to anon after he got hit by this car, pushed through a plate glass window and into a bunch of chips? broken toe, that's why he's walking a little funny there afterwards. multiple different angles of this accident. the one i find particularly interesting is the one where you see the entire aisle, right here get shoved. it looks to be about eight feet.
9:30 am
>> it's good thing it was a smaller car, not a gigantic truck and a good thing that he landed on the chips and not like those cases of beer. it would hurt a lot more. >> it's suspected that the driver of the car just pushed the gas instead of the brake and right through the window. >> i think i know what happened here, guys, the driver has a very large right foot, right? so the person hit the gas instead of the brake. big foot. >> i'm starting to think that i want to go out and redesign all of the parking lots at gas stations and put all the parking spaces over to the left or the right. none in the front. >> dare to dream, beth. meanwhile, in australia -- take one. >> we see a lot of animal versus animal confrontation videos on the show. but we've never seen an animal versus like a yard tool. >> this was at the australian represent tile park near sydney. now some guys were trying to mow

9:32 am
tooth fell out. he is 50 years old, that's a denture. >> yeah, right. what you're seeing is the aftermath of a train derailment in the early morning hours of tuesday december 27th. this happened in the northern territory of australia near a small town called catherine. >> there's where the bridge should be. >> according to reports, flash flooding caused by cyclone grant caused damage to about 150 feet of this train bridge. >> it's a lot of work. >> this area got near lay foot of rain in less than 24 hours. >> now am i looking at some of the train that fell into the water? >> yes, that's exactly what you're looking at, gayle, the cars that fell into the river were the container cars, this train was an ore contain, it was
9:33 am
carrying copper ore core seven trait. >> you can see the water here is very black. >> people here are concerned because this copper ore concentrate has been washed into the floodwaters. >> holy smokes. >> look at that right there, there is nothing underneath. >> and you see how this is bowing right here? you can see how it's bent under the weight of the train. >> the cement slabs that the train is on top of are on top of air, nothing. >> it's a big mess, it's going to take a lot to clean up. >> the driver and co-driver of the train were both injured. they in fact had to air-lift the driver of the car to darwin, which is the capital of this region. they suspect that he has spinal injuries. the co-driver is at a hospital currently under observation. there's a pair of dog-nappers in el paso, texas and we got to find them, because
