the hands of b.a.r.t. and oakland police. police say that the man had two knives in his hands and refused to put them down and charged at them. >> reporter: past the criminal scene tape rippling in the morning breeze, a man shot several times by b.a.r.t. and oakland police. the sight has neighbors on edge such as annabella shield with her young daughter. >> i done think it's good for her to see those things, especially at her age. >> reporter: deputy chief israel explained how this fatal end began. >> this morning, around 8:15 :15 a.m., opd got a call of a man

carrying knives. >> reporter: police chased him where oakland police joined the chase and tazered the man. they say that the tazing department work tazing didn't work and-- tazing didn't work and he continued going when he was tazed again. >> he was tazed yet again which was ineffective. he turned toward the officer who had the taser in his hand and charged at the officer. at the time, the other officers who were there to protect officer holding the taser shot him. he did not survive his wounds. neighbors watched the scene unfold. >> police were out here. none of the police say anything. they were just gathered together. they followed him while he was

walking backwards all the way through the street. and then all of a sudden, i hear a little pop and then right after that, i hear pop, pop, pop, pop. >> police say at least five officers opened fire, including both b.a.r.t. police and oakland police officers. neighbors tell us they are concerned, particularly in light of the recent case of oscar grant, another man killed by a b.a.r.t. police officer. >> people are going to be crazy about it and b.a.r.t. with oscar grant, they're going to get all crazy. >> oakland police are taking the lead on this case, pointing out it happened on oakland streets and not b.a.r.t. property. in a statement this afternoon, b.a.r.t. called the loss of life unfortunate and promise to investigate in an trans parent manner. and oakland mayor called on everybody to work together. the man has not been identified

but they described him as hispanic, between 30 and 40 years old. >> b.a.r.t. board member carol ward allen stoke about how b.a.r.t. is responding to the shooting. allen is the director of b.a.r.t. police review committee. she said the agency has learned from the oscar grant incident and is making every effort to make information about today's shooting out to the public as quickly as possible. >> we pro actively will put out press releases along with the oakland police department and we are working in concert with other agencies and making sure that we get the information to citizens so that we are accountable and transparent in our activity. >> allen also called the shooting, quote, a tragic event in every respect for everyone involved. its consequences are irreversible and she extended

yukaia. a pickup truck was reported stolen with the two brothers inside. about one hour later, the olivaros brothers were found inside the pickup truck there is no word on the suspect or if any arrest was made. vacaville police are searching for gunman in a late night shooting that injured two people. police say four people in a car stopped at a liquor store and pulled over next to pedestrians. an argument ensued and one of the pedestrians began firing a semiautomatic handgun. one male passenger was seriously injured and air lifted. he is said to be in stage condition tonight. a feel male passenger was also grazed by a bullet. police arrested a suspect who crashed his car into a house overnight. the accident happened on

bellevue avenue just after 2:00 a.m. the man was driving at high speed from the monte carlo nightclub when he was threatened by someone with a gun. he was not hurt. police are stale searching for the man with that gun it took a long time, but now there is a nomination for commissioner. he beat out insurance attorney brian fitzgerald. what surprised everybody is that fitzgerald just spent about $5,000 while bribes spent nearly a million dollars teesla partnership with toyota will be for the riav suv. teesla says there is now a

two people, including a small child are in the hospital tonight after an suv slammed into their bicycle in alamo. the incident left a small town shaken. >> reporter: the two people were taken to the hospital by ambulance. the accident happened at about 2:15 at the intersection of camille avenue and danville boulevard in alamo. now, only a few marks of paint mark the scene. >> it was an 8-year-old. >> reporter: chris did not want to give his last name. he says he saw a bicycle carrier in which a child would sit underneath the car close to the interception. in addition to the two-year-old girl, an adult male was taken to the hospital in walnut creek. his condition has not been released. there is a bike lane marked by

get more details at ktvu.com. in china, a huge oil pipeline explosion triggered a second pipeline blast sending flames 150 feet into the sky. more than 2,000 firefighters and soldiers battled the flames which struggled for more than 15 hours. no one was hurt. it's not clear what trigger that had blast. in iran, tens of thousands of mile-per-hourers carried caskets for the victim of a mosque bombing. the attack happened thursday, killing 27 people and injuring more than 200 others. a sunni rebel group claimed responsibility for the bombing saying it was revenge for iran's execution of the group's leader. iranian police say they have arrested four people in connection with that bombing in east asia, powerful typhoon is moving out of china. at least two people were killed

firefighters are making progress tonight on a light nipping-sparked grass fire burning in kearn county. firefighters had been struggling with terrain. no homes are threatened and no one has been hurt a consumer watchdog group is going after mcdonald's targeting the chip's famous happy meal toys. it led to an outright ban that was just weeks away from taking effect. casey stiegel takes effect. >> the center for science in the public interest wants mcdonald's to take the toys out of happy meals. the cues accusing the fast food chan of using them to lure kids into making bad food choices, a practice they call deceptive and outright illegal in several states. >> kids don't understand the

the micro climate is making a big come back. flirting with 100 degrees. pretty much the same story going into sunday. coast side also rolling into the bay right around san francisco and right around the bay bridge as well. the cloud cover will be on the increase locally around the bay

and also a few patches by the immediate shore line overnight. as far as temperatures for the day, we had nearly a 48-degree temperature range for the low 50s in pacificca. 99 in antioch. san jose, lower 80s at 82 degrees. looking towards the bay area this evening and looking at the overall story, wind around 152 to 20 miles per 15-15 to 20 degrees. 65 by 12, look at this. 82 degrees. by 4, forecast high right around 96 degrees. so a little bit cooler than today. this area of high pressure warming up the interior, in fact, warming up a good portion of the west. we are lucky to have the fog at least close which. . temperatures near it the

immediate shorely. watchy morning fog. clearing skies around the bay, still a bit of a breeze and once going to sunny and hot for the interior. here is our forecast model. we are tracking the fog first thing tomorrow morning. 53 to 58 degrees and then into the afternoon hours, you will see mostly sunny skies, maybe a patch or two of some clouds hanging around near part of the shore line and there is that humongous temperature range. take a look at some of the numbers. fairfield at 92. right around the river. 94, antioch, 96 degrees. san jose tops out at 83. morgan hill, 94 and san francisco right around 67 degrees. here is a look ahead at the five-day forecast. still the hottest location inland to around 90. we'll continue to cool things off. we increase the fog for tuesday and wednesday. temperatures for the most part
