department says terrorist organizations mike seek to exploit lgbtq+ events and venues and local organizations say these potential threats are ongoing concern. >> the u.s. state department issuing a global security alert friday warning of potential violence against the lgbtq+ community. the federal government cautioning u.s. citizens traveling overseas for next month's pride events to be vigilant. we're always concerned that our community is continually have to face hate. >> physical badly, you know from to us. >> just sometimes unknown source sources, oakland pride board, president george smith. the 3rd says his organization is taking the alerts seriously. >> earlier this month, the fbi and the department of homeland security warned terrorist groups could target pride. celebrations here in the united states is ongoing. >> for communities, stay safe

caltrans says it will affect southbound 6.80, between acosta boulevard in san ramon and the 5, 86, 80 connector in pleasanton roads are not expected to reopen until 4 in the morning on monday. the partial closure is one of 2 with another set for the weekend of may 31st. if you're heading to big sur this weekend, highway one is finally back open to traffic. crews sharing this video from this morning after they set up a temporary signal system. part of the highway collapsed in late march after one of our winter storms. just a half mile north of the famous bixby bridge, a project to construct a permanent repair to the highway is projected to be ready by the spring of 2025. all right. time to weekend weather. we are looking at what appears to be a nice weekend ahead. little less fog. >> around the bay area, although the clouds rolling in right now, you see over san francisco, we've got plenty of cloud cover out there right now that has made its way inside the bay. watch a breakup, though, as we head throughout the afternoon tomorrow. still that sea

breeze. yeah, it has been kicking in again likely to see some drizzle out along the immediate coastline of the part of the bay, not too bad. in fact, a fog going to break up a little bit earlier and we're going to be talking about more sunshine around the bay area, but may be a cooler air mass kind of settling in overall. we've had a high pressure trying to build a little more of a northerly component. the winds out there this evening and that has brought with it. the erosion of some of the low clouds and the fog, but likely to see that make a return for tonight into tomorrow. high pressure going to weaken somewhat a cold front diving just to the north of us kind of falling apart. but leaving behind some cooler air. so that means we'll see some milder, some warm temperatures around the bay area. highs tomorrow about 77 degrees and sunny and san jose. 72 in oakland and 59 fog and son in san francisco. >> david de pap the man convicted of assaulting nancy pelosi's husband, paul has gotten a sentence of 30 years in prison for the brutal attack in october of 2022, a federal judge in san francisco sentenced a path today in

court. former house speaker nancy pelosi says that her husband is still struggling with injury, suffered in the attack to paps and talked with us after his father was sentenced. >> you really tried his best to be a kind person. and the thing is because i know him personally. know that there is no real heart and that person. >> what's next for the pap a state trial. pap is facing 6 felony counts at the state level and jury selection in that trial is set to begin next week. coming up 10, 30, we're going hear from a legal expert about how today's sentencing at the federal level could affect those state proceedings. >> new at 10 tonight, oakland community leader carl chan is now among the countless people in the bay area to get their car broken into. he says his car got hit last night in agave uptown and oakland. that's a restaurant that's also been dealing with numerous burglaries. chan says the thieves took off with golf gear. chan is one of the leading organizers of the effort to recall alameda

county district attorney pamela price. police in power out to are looking for 2 men who they say. >> robbed a mail carrier. they say it happened yesterday just before noon in the parking lot of the south with apartments on middlefield road. police say that the postal service worker, a man in his 60's was out delivering mail when 2 men approached him and demanded his postal keys wallet and his phone. the postal worker turned over the keys, but he refused to give up his personal property. and that's when police say a fistfight ensued and the suspects, not the carrier to the ground. the carrier says both men drove off in an older model. nissan altima. >> offense is now up at building in berkeley after a dozen people were arrested for occupying that vacant building. the building was taken over by pro-palestine demonstrators earlier this week. police say last night the 12 people blocked an entrance to the building with plywood and shields and violently or it resisted arrest using crowbars to hit

officers. police say it's reviewing video to see if it can identify those who attacked the officers. so state university president mike lee has decided to retire just days after he was placed on leave following an agreement he made with demonstrators to look into divesting from israel. the chancellor of the csu system says president lee's agreement was made without the appropriate approvals. graduation at the campus is set for tomorrow. house republicans are investigating ucla tonight over the university's treatment of >> jewish students during pro-palestinian protest. republicans are calling on ucla to turn over documents regarding what they say was a failure to protect jewish students. the committee is also seeking texts from staff. the police and others by next week, the lawmakers have criticized ucla and other schools for allowing pro-palestinian encampments and for not getting law enforcement involved sooner. >> the debate has been

canceled, nonprofit together sf action announced tonight it is canceled. what was supposed to be the first mayoral debate in san francisco after 3 of the candidates dropped out, the debate was set to happen monday. and according to organizers, 4,000 people were set to attend. we first learned wednesday that mayor london breed and supervisor aaron peskin would not participate. the mayor's office cited conflicts with their schedule and the format of the debate. daniel lurie, another candidate also pulled out. organizers say the political establishment must be really afraid of change. one mayoral debate is set for tuesday and it's still a go. the harvey milk club plans to host mayor london breed supervisor. aaron peskin supervisor ahsha safai. e former interim mayor mark farrell and nonprofit executive daniel lurie is set to happen at the first unitarian universalist church and center in cathedral hill in the city. >> hundreds of republicans from across the state are set to converge in berlin game

needs assistance. pastor lacey says last friday a massive fire broke out at saint andrews missionary baptist church in oakland. he was inside with others praying before choir rehearsal. >> it started to get hot. in the building and they what? i will open the windows. this kind of warm in here. >> and we're in the choir stand the years. that's where the fire started. and the house next door to church. open up one of the windows in the sanctuary. and i heard the fire crackling and popping >> pastor lacey says that he and a parishioner grabbed fire extinguishers, but the flames were fears. i spoke with pastor lacey as he returned from getting food for workers clearing the burned debris. >> westerly shares of the church is an historical landmark. fact, the history of the church. >> 1916, it was built. by the

that onshore wind doing its work and bring in that cooler air. not only just along the coastline, see a filtering all the way into the valleys. now and that's where we'll start out the day that cool marine layer and that fog out there early tomorrow morning. you can see those could be a little more broken as we head toward tomorrow morning. not that real love. a large batch of fog out there early on tomorrow morning. so more broken. that means more sunshine by the afternoon. but fog likely to linger along the coastline, then begin to push back on shore by tomorrow evening. so yeah, you head out the door tomorrow. enjoy the sunshine, 70's inland, cool 50's and 60's out at the coast. former radisson hotel workers demanding justice for wage theft. they say they made complaints with opens department of workforce. >> 4 years ago saying the hotel was held more than $400,000 from 128 workers are demanding the city of oakland make radisson pay them what they're owed. >> might not be tolerated in

oakland or anywhere. the owners to pay the workers with their own. and oakland, you take all possible steps not to let the company get away with stealing from workers, respect their work and pay them what they're owed. >> the former workers are also asking for oakland to impose penalties on the hotel on top of that $400,000, nurses, san francisco's public hospitals and clinics say that they want to strike today. the group voted to authorize a strike after they say the city has failed to address staffing shortages. the nurses gathered at to count votes. the result doesn't mean the nurses will be walking off the job immediately. but it does allow the nurses bargaining team to call a strike after their current contract expires at the end of june. the cdc is ending a program that provides free covid vaccines to uninsured americans is summer. >> the agency says it no longer has the funding since the start of the pandemic. the agency is providing more than 1.4 million free covid vaccines. it estimates the program will affect 25 to

convicted of breaking into former house speaker nancy pelosi is home and assaulting her husband with a hammer 2 years ago. a federal judge on friday sentenced him 30 years in prison for salt in 20 years of attempted kidnapping. the federal official, the sentences will run concurrently. the government wanted to say here. >> is that we have to protect our governmental officials and we have to protect our american system of democracy. and this was much bigger than just the pelosi family. this was sent to the community. and dip happes upcoming state trial. some charges he's facing their includes attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse. but the key will be did he have specific intent to commit murder paul pelosi? and i think that would be the big fight in the state case if he's convicted of attempted murder, he will face a life

killed. >> and the path state trial is expected to start its jury selection next wednesday. we'll have those updates here and online newsroom. let's go in. kron. 4 news. >> new video tonight shows sean diddy combs violently attacking his former girlfriend. we want to warn you the video may be difficult to watch the hotel surveillance videos obtained by cnn shows duty pulling cassie ventura by her hair, slamming her to the ground and then kicking her and dragging her back to a hotel room. that's gators say this happened back in 2016. it matches the timeline of a fight. ventura told the court in her lawsuit against combs. this comes after homeland security raided combs house back in march in connection to allegations of trafficking and assault music producer is currently facing lawsuits by a number of alleged victims spanning more than 30 years. a shortage of veterinarians is forcing shelters to put down their dogs and cats. the

all right. let's check out. you get away forecast in the monterey bay. we start off with some patchy fog giving way to a little sunshine in carmel valley by the afternoon. 67 there or by the coastline in carmel, by the sea. your 58 degrees. 58 monterey and 61 in watsonville, southern california. find a mixture of some sunshine and a few clouds and temperatures running a little bit below the average 68 in los angeles about 74 degrees in pasadena. if you plan to have the high watch out specially south of lake tahoe area, we're looking at 70's in the tahoe, but south of that, maybe some thunderstorms popping up in the afternoon about 73 degrees in truckee. 85 and warm in reno on 81 degrees in carson city. but next few days looking beautiful. if you're sticking around through the weekend, we're going to see a lot of sunshine in the high country. temperatures cooling down, though by monday. some of those highs hovering in the mid 50's. right. the forecast, though, you can see the after numerous been see watching these pop-up thunderstorms south, really of the great lake tahoe area down toward 2.70, mammoth lakes. we'll see that kind of play out as we head throughout the week on and off again those afternoon. thunderstorms popping up out

there and that will continue all the way through friday on and off through that time. all right. the bay area of the we're talking about some changes coming our way to the temperatures. go to start to cool down just a little bit. not much 50's 60's and 70's going be pleasant by the afternoon. see that fog right along the coastline, the sunshine in the bay. but it will be cool up toward the beaches. 63 degrees in millbrae mostly sunny in the afternoon. that warming up as we take you down the peninsula. temperatures running in the 70's, maybe even a couple 80's by tomorrow in the santa clara valley, east bay. temperatures well into the 70's by tomorrow afternoon, mostly sunny skies, not as much fog around the bay area, but a cooler air mass beginning to slip in. that's going to drag the temperatures down just a little bit. so over the next few days, let's check out you can attend. we'll see those temperatures hovering a little bit below the average, but them a probably warm up on monday and tuesday, then cooling down, especially we get to friday and saturday. next week's look those temperatures start to bottom out a little bit. but overall, nice weekend ahead. just cooling down on the temperatures just a little bit for the weekend. looking forward to it. yeah, thank you, larry. welcome. as we take a live look outside at

sfo. here we go. the tsa says it's ready for the busiest summer travel season ever between may 20rd may 29th. the tsa expects to screen more than 18 million passengers at airport checkpoints nationwide. next friday is forecast to be the busiest day of the long memorial day weekend with 3 million people expected to fly. there will be some days the summer that we will likely see 3 million travelers in our screening checkpoints across the country are records. about 2.9 million. >> but we expect 3 or 3.1 million travelers on most likely during the busiest during the court's summer in in july and early part of august. >> so far this year, the tsa says passenger travel is up 8%. >> thousands of people are going to be in san francisco sunday morning for the annual bay to breakers. runners are going to start at main street in the city at about 08:00am. >> and then make their way all the way to ocean beach at the
