down to the low 50's were pretty calm with the exception of san francisco. 14 miles an winds there in fairfield due to that delta breeze. so san francisco probably will feel a little chilly just with that sea breeze. but mostly clear skies tonight. >> that light breeze, that temperatures overnight, upper 40's low 50's that is quite mild for the evening and early morning. the rest of the weekend looks sunny sunday. the warmer day of the weekend. monday looks like a repeat of sunday. we just so a nice day to get out doors to do all the earth day activities. and then we start to cool down when state tuesday. so stay tuned. we have a chance of rain. you'll see it on the seven-day forecast. back to you. >> all right. thanks a lot. san jose's budget must be approved by the city council this summer and a big issue as a budget shortfall of about 50 million dollars. one thing mayor matt mahan says he will prioritize is homeless resources but some of those resources don't seem like sudden house people, dvocate s-

especially as the city as more affordable shelter solutions. kron four's jack moment dives into the issue and has more from san jose. johnny mendez. let's and her girlfriends the windy and warm day in san jose. mendez has been homeless for just a couple weeks. she says she works as a security guard pulling in about 1000 bucks a she's been homeless before. but this time. >> she says her hopes are shot. she says she's been rejected for voucher programs. so far we have to get really pragmatic or concern comes amid the city's struggle to fill a 50 million dollar deficit in this year's budget. mayor matt mahan told the community they're going to prioritize homeless resources. you have to experiment with things that we haven't done a lot of in recent years while at the same time focusing on reducing homeless encampments, we're going to have to experiment with safe sleeping sites may or may have says a cheaper option to get people out of an unsanctioned

encampment is through illegal. what an example is when you drive down willow street by the 87 and see this encampment may have has proposed moving this one into a sanctioned encampment. there's just way too much red tape. the founder of a cop, a silicon valley and homeless advocate. top clinton says unhoused people he works with are worried about the summer and what the council will end up approving. but yeah, they're worried about the safe parking the worry about. they don't want to go into congregate shelters or anything that resembles a congregate shelter like in says he hopes san jose will make the possible sanction encampments low barrier and allow people to come and go as they please. not but does says she would go to a sanction parking lot. >> and he's just tired of being homeless. >> i stress. >> now all this comes as a recent audit finds that the

city of san jose is not doing enough and is not being transparent. but the money that is given to them from the state of california to address its homelessness issues. now the city says this highlights a bigger statewide issue in terms of funding, but it will be up to the city and the counselors to decide how it should fund homeless programs going into this next fiscal year in downtown san jose. jack molmud kron. 4 news. >> in the east bay, oakland police are investigating after a man was shot and killed. police say they responded to the area on 99th avenue in east oakland just before 1 o'clock friday afternoon, the victim died at the scene. his identity has not been released. anyone with any information is being asked to call oakland police and arrest has been made in a stabbing death in east palo alto stabbing happened back in february on bell street university avenue investigators released this surveillance video last month saying they believe the people inside that white suv witness. the attack on frank fining finding died a month later at the hospital. 19 year-old has been arrested and charged in

connection with the death. another person was also stabbed that night, but they survived. investigation is underway after a baby and a dad were attacked on a san francisco muni bus. the father telling police his infant was randomly assaulted by another writer on friday morning. the unknown man then took off from the bus near van essen o'farrell street. police say the baby appeared to be okay and they're still searching for the suspect. golden gate ferry service between sausalito and san francisco is still suspended. damage was discovered at the sausalito peer friday, shutting down the service through at least sunday. until the ferry is up and running again. buses will be service for people to get across the golden gate. the ferry service says that they apologize for the inconvenience and it's still unclear when the ferry service will resume. in the north a part of highway. 37 is closed this weekend. caltrans says it's repaving the westbound

lanes this weekend and next weekend as crews then going to be working on the eastbound lanes for the first 2 weekends of may. they're encouraging travelers to please use detours. >> beginning around 20 to you're going to go right towards napa county taking state route. 29 where you'll catch. they wrote one. 21 where you make a left to go eastbound to once again keep going and cats. 12 that would take you down to state route. 37, everybody here that is local kind of knows this route as a shortcut. but it's not. it's along the tours that we're expecting that to be from one hour to 2 hours. so we really are asking the public to plan ahead. >> the westbound lanes are expected to reopen around 4 o'clock monday morning. >> waving goodbye. bart is officially retiring its legacy

trains. the transit agency hosted huge ceremony in oakland's macarthur station today setting off the trains for one last run. people were able to right a legacy train for macarthur to fremont nearing the initial service part provided when it opened back in september 1972. the trip lasted around. 45 minutes along 24 miles of the original section of tracks, 3 legacy cars are headed to the western railway museum and sassoon city. >> they include an iconic front, a car and they will be the only carson. the legacy fleet displayed at the museum. the legacy trains are going to be making way for a new generation. nearly 700 new fleet of the future train cars are now certified for service. still ahead here, 11 o'clock bay area communities giving back to the environment. >> got details on earth day initiatives that you can take part in. and a getaway doesn't get seems very far. car

>> 3 people arrested in coma after their getaway car apparently ran out of gas last sunday. como police officers were alerted of a black mercedes benz recklessly driving near junipero serra boulevard and sarah center. callers said the car ran 2 red lights before stopping in the middle of the road. police arrived to find a man and a woman walking away from the car. the driver still inside told police they went to go

get gas. officers ran the driver's information and learn that he wasn't fugitive out of texas. police then searched the car and found ammo and stolen clothing. police believe the stolen goods worth about 1400 bucks for to nearby stores and serramonte boulevard. the 2 passengers who want to go get gas also had warrants out for their arrest. all were taken into custody and booked in the san mateo county jail. san francisco police arrest a man for having child at his home. the special victims unit launched an investigation into 43 year-old peter sherman back in january. officials say they have probable cause he was guilty for having child assault material. police searches thursday. sherman was arrested and booked into jail on 3 counts of child. the fire in san jose threatens a nursing home this morning. fire crews responding to the scene on east santa clara and north 13th streets. the fire broke out at an abandoned building, but crews we're able to stop the spread. nearby.

bay an event to raise money for kids with disabilities took over san jose's history park, coastal kids home camp brought back its signature touch a truck event, children and families got to explore their favorite cars and hop in the fire trucks and construction vehicles and police cruisers. there was also a classic car parade that happened as well. you can see it rolling along there. the nonprofit was founded in salinas and has been around in the bay area for nearly 20 years. happening tomorrow, the toilet bowl and celebrating know of alleys, public restroom opening in san francisco. there's going to be arts and crafts and a troupe of acrobats performing all for this. yes, the public toilet. that was first announced in 1.7 million dollars can believe that era. and 1.7 million. but thanks to multiple contributions. the price was reduced down to $300,000. so still kind of pricey. but in a if you've got to go, you've got to go. you can find the bathroom between sanchez and vicksburg streets now we've ali going to be
