>> thanks a lot. one peninsula story that we're following is how neighbors have been impacted because of police activity happening this morning. >> in north it's a community right near redwood city and san mateo county and kron four's michael thomas. is there. >> well, neighbors tell me as early as 3.30, this morning there was swamp team and multiple police officers here in this residential neighborhood. and you can see they're still here hours later going through the garage. and this is east of l community. allen. we've got a map up on your screen. it's the north fair oaks neighborhood. bureau street here. this includes san mateo county sheriff's office, redwood city police and neighbors tell me essentially that early at about 4 o'clock or so that they heard loud noises and that it was a swat team and multiple police agencies here to arrest him. and i did speak with the person who is inside of that apartment complex and they tell me they were actually how sitting for the apartment that was being served with the search warrant. they tell me that the man who was arrested

at around 7 to 7.30, this morning was actually inside that garage. he's barricaded himself at some point, which is why police are now going through the area to see if you left anything behind as to what they were trying to arrest this man for it is currently unknown as to what they're looking for. it's also currently unknown. we get more details from officials press releases will keep you updated. that's the very latest reporting near redwood city. michael thomas will send it back to live in the studio. >> ok, thank you, michael. channel. 2 is the time and more breaking news from overnight. the oakland police department is investigating a deadly shooting that involved one of their officers. the shooting happened just before 9.30, last night on 16th street. the police department says the sacramento police were actually in town investigating a homicide when they asked opd to help them arrest a suspect. come, police say that suspect came out from a home armed with a gun and that's when their officers opened fire shooting and killing that person none of the police were hurt. but the

department says the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave as they investigate what happened. and just in to the kron 4 news room, the driver who struck and killed a 4 year-old girl near oracle park last year will not be charged that decision just coming from the san francisco district attorney's office. 71 year-old karen card was arrested and charged with 3 counts of failure to yield to pedestrians and manslaughter in connection with that august 2023 incident, the little girl who died was in her stroller at the time of the crash. her father was severely injured. the family was visiting san francisco and attempting to use the crosswalk at the intersection of 4th and king streets when that crash occurred. san francisco da brooke jenkins confirmed that her office negotiated a plea deal with car to gain a and under the terms of that settlement, she will serve 2 years probation, complete 400 hours of community service and complete a safe driver class. >> it's 10, 0, 4 and

pro-palestine. demonstrators are back and south san francisco after a man attacked them last week. video showed him physically and verbally assaulting members of a group called change ssf with kron four's dan thorn with what happened. the man in that video was arrested by south san francisco police and charged with battery and hate speech. >> organizers for change ssf say facing that kind of vitriol was unfair and unacceptable because they're simply calling for peace and an end to the war in gaza. and the rallies are not going to end until this war is over. >> all people messages targeting pro-palestinian protesters last week in south san francisco races. a 57 year-old man was caught on camera bumping hurling insults and even spitting and i don't think being anti genocide.

whatever you're or whatever case you're advocating for. i think that this is a matter of human rights and >> i think if you're advocating against preservation of human life, you take a good look at yourself. >> these demonstrations were not supposed to be a weekly thing, but after last week's attack, the group says they felt compelled to carry on and they're planning on having another rally next week at the civic campus here in south san francisco in south san francisco. dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> meantime, we have a follow-up on pro-palestinian demonstrators and what's going to happen to them next. remember some of the more change here inside a barrel with concrete in an alameda county. and now the dea is working on gathering evidence filing charges. charges have been filed yet against those protesters. but in a statement, the da says that her office is working with the chp to process the evidence and information. and she says that while her office supports

the essential right to protest. it's important to note that public safety should never be compromised in exercising the first amendment right of free speech. the da in san francisco is also working on cases that will come out of the golden gate bridge protest that happened on monday. brooke jenkins is reaching out to anyone who was impacted and stuck on the bridge on the golden gate bridge on monday saying the eu were should contact the chp in moran. if you are inconvenienced by that. >> well, google has fired 28 of its workers who protested at the company's offices day. one of those protest was outside the google offices in sunnyvale. our cameras were there with the demonstrators, as you can see, the folks that were demonstrating wanted google to cut ties with israel and police in the and arrested 5 people, including some google employees who are refusing to go a google spokesperson says physically impeding other employees work and preventing access to

facilities is a clear violation of company policies and that's why they were fired. well, meantime, we understand that google is also going to be laying off more people. spokesperson for the company says that this is all part of efforts to cut costs. no word on the exact number of employees that are going to be let go. but we know this latest round of layoffs follows job cuts that were made earlier this year when the company laid off about 1000 workers. time now is 10. 0, 8, >> it's been one month now since a family for was tragically killed when a car ran into the west portal bus stop. they were waiting out. and last night, san francisco police conducted a traffic sting operation in that area. it's low and will loan a near west portal avenue. 22

let's talk about this youth based youth baseball league. this now out like $15,000 after a lot of their equipment was taken by thieves that broke into their sports complex. and now they're asking for help to rebuild as they're in full swing for the season. kron four's philippe djegal has more. >> mark northrup and his brother anthony's kids have grown out of the junior optimist baseball league. but both still helped run the nonprofit in concord because they care help out his kids marks serves as board president anthony is the facility's director and he's the one who discovered their sports complex that encompasses he knew baseball and softball fields was burglarized over the weekend. we hit a roadblock saturday night. they literally snapped the padlocks. the northrop say thieves broke through the bars and locks to at least 4 of their comics boxes, which stores the heavy equipment used to maintain the field. stormy in the fall. >> keep our generators and we

reason not to get outside and enjoy these next several days. as much as you can 60's to 70's on the peninsula today. very pleasant, feeling day and temperatures warm again for some of our areas further away from the water south bay. yet again, our warmest spot san jose at 82 degrees. well, not far behind in the east bay, especially not from danville, walnut creek, up to concord. each 80 degrees opened up to richmond at 74. even some low 80's up in solano county today. looking ahead tomorrow as temperatures will be in the mid 70's. same for saturday. a little bit of a temperature bump into sunday and monday near in the 80's again, before we fall into the 60's by next tuesday and wednesday. back to you. >> all right. thank you, john. time now is 10. 49. and starting today, the pacifica pier is going to be closed for the next couple of days as crews are going to be out there inspecting that structure to make sure it's safe enough to reopen it because it's a great weekend to get out. you know? yeah, but as we know last december,

next week. what does all that mean? well, it means temperatures are going to be a whole lot cooler from the 80's today inland to just the 60's. by next tuesday. so you'll have a noticeable cool down there, but still comfortable. a little bit of cloud cover bowl today and tomorrow, but still mostly sunny on both days. and today in particular is going to be a warm one 60's 70's for sf 60's at the coast. and then 70's to 80's elsewhere. burlingame, at 73 today saying carlos, the redwood city at 76 south bay temps in the 80's for your highs. then we'll also see a few more low 80's today. such is the case in danville, walnut creek and concord, as well as antioch, pittsburgh and fairfield reaching the low 80's napa in benicia getting close at 79. tomorrow's temperatures fall a little bit. it's mid 70's to kick off the weekend and there's the 60's i mentioned by tuesday and wednesday of next week. >> all right. thank you very much, john. 10, 17, the time for your health this morning. some of your favorite snacks

like cheetos like even like pop tarts. they could be at risk of being bam because of their ingredients and putting air quotes because they're not going to go away anytime soon. but they may have to be reformulated because california is one of 5 states that are proposing laws to prohibit certain kinds ingredients, color additives that help preserve the food. make it look vibrant but have also been linked to some health issues, including cancer advocates behind this change want the companies to start producing them with alternative choices for these additives, different dies and that could change the recipe up a little bit. one of the ingredients targeted is brominated vegetable oil. in fact, the fda has been proposing banning that for a little while now. it's used in a lot are used to be used in a lot of sodas and sports drinks, but not so much anymore. and red dye number 3, which gives food and drinks that bright red cherry color. that also is something that's going to have to be swapped out. we spoke to a nutritionist about all this.

>> so if europe can do it, we certainly can, too. but it does take more money and it takes really this dedication to saying we're not going to allow for this low quality stuff to keep entering into our systems. >> and again, like you just heard her say, a lot of these companies, cheetos gator. it they sell their products in europe and europe already bans these dyes. so they've already reformulated the product for those markets. they're simply looking to do that again here, too. critics of the law, though, say that this is all ultimately going undermine the authority of the fda and confuse and it's still a lack of confidence in consumers. that's their argument. but again, like i said, these favorites are not going away. they're just going to delivered likely already. i thought that things are neon green and bright red good for >> and natural and scandals. yeah, those not make a body work. all member just recently raised in california, the minimum wage for fast-food workers to $20 an hour and the
