6:02 am
today and under those sunshiny skies are going to see temperatures climbing really quickly here really soon. currently temperatures are in the 50's with alameda at 55 allay 52. some 40's up in the north bay petaluma down at 46 degrees. currently later on today. i've already alluded to it just how warm we are inland again. but for only one more day after today, we're really cooling things off and quickly into the weekend will bring your full forecast still to come. but first, a look at the roads with michael thomas. a couple issues out there already. >> yeah, thank you, john. that's right. we have had a couple of issues. good morning, everyone. happy thursday. overall, things are looking good. and you can see that right here on traffic tracker for but over in the east bay near the san leandro area. we are seeing some congestion and that's because there is a stickler. there's a big rig that actually has been tipped over. it was an accident and it's now leaking fuel. so it's causing a lot of congestion. currently, those 2.38, northbound to 8.80, southbound lanes are closed on that connector. but the 8.80,
6:03 am
going northbound is available. but again, it's still causing a lot of congestion. and we can see that. all right. along here, we actually have a live look at it right now. we're going to put it up on the screen. we have a photographer out there. you can see those lanes are closed to sig alert has been happening since about 3 o'clock this morning. looks like they've got 2 lanes that are currently open. but again, i did speak with chp this morning. they tell me it's going to take at least 3 to 4, maybe even 5 hours to clean up this mess. keep in mind, there is fuel that is out on those roads and that big rig is completely tipped over south. just keep that in mind as you're heading out, we're going go back to our traffic maps now. so you can see what other alternative routes you could take. of course, you could always take 5.80, we're going to put that back up on the screen. hopefully we can get it for you. there we are right now taking a look at 5.80, just to see where that backup could eventually spread to. you can see it's an 11 minute commute livermore to dublin. but eventually at some point, this may be backed up. so to avoid at all cost, you could just take 6.80, and very quickly, some drive times for
6:04 am
those of you who are heading over to the maze. 18 minutes crockett to may's 12 minutes. walnut creek to 5.80, castro valley to the mains. 14 minutes. stanley under to the maze a 12 minute commute. a live look at the bay bridge. those metering lights are already on right now. it's a 15 minute commute to get into the actual city. a live look at the san mateo bridge, 17 minute commute. and that could be because there was a disabled, tractor trailer that was on this bridge. it's already been cleared by chp. so hopefully that starts to move a little bit more smoothly up north a little bit. richmond center fell 10 minute commute over that bridge. and lastly, that golden gate bridge. 21 minute commute into the city will send it back to 2 at the desk. all right, michael, thank you for that. happening today, open international airport could at san francisco to its name. yeah. this afternoon, the port of oakland is set to vote on that controversial name change one that san francisco officials say they're ready to go to court over covers. will tran is live at the oakland airport for now. >> with the latest. good morning. well, >> the city of san francisco hates the name change. they

millions of dollars every year because the airlines will see the uptick in passengers and possibly add flights routinely. so the bottom line is right now, we do have 2 distinct games, sfo, and even if with the name change, just to add to the confusion, it still will remain. kate, even if it goes to san francisco bay, open international. >> have the airport code stays the same. alright, we'll thank you very much. we'll see what happens with that vote. well, an arrest was made in connection to a crash that killed a 9 year-old girl from oregon. >> chp says jesus ivan durantez is in custody and facing multiple charges. crash happened sunday morning on northbound 6.80, in concord. chp says suv carrying a 6 people, joe, to a dirt median rolled over multiple times. the 9 year-old died at the scene and her mother, 13 year-old sister, 2.17, year-old cousins are still being treated at the hospital.
