56 years in oakland. >> about half a cent. rancher d a's will play their home games in west sacramento starting next season. the announcement comes after the a's and oakland leaders. >> failed to reach a deal on extending the a's a lease at the coliseum. the team's owner instead decided to move the team to the state capitol ahead of the team's planned move to las vegas in 2028, the a's decision to make this season. they're last in the bay area as a lot of fans pretty angry. >> for him to go and help facilitate this or sleeve oakland faster than what they were expected to be a. it's very disheartening. and and may just point this is an oakland fall. this isn't fans fall. this is only indication that john fisher himself has made will be in all. 29 other owners have signed off on. >> they're ok with the fans being treated as expendable as that. they never mattered. >> some fans say they will continue to boycott games and they may even bring that

protest to sacramento. >> tonight, future of the oakland coliseum as another big question, alameda county leaders say that the focus will be to bring in as many events as possible. former oakland a's executive andy do live show who we spoke to over the phone. has this to say about the future of the coliseum. >> coliseum was the last town square left in open that people of all backgrounds could get together and celebrate their sports change. and now it is going to be a quiet location. >> the statement that the oakland mayor sheng thao says in part we wish the a's the best and we'll continue our conversations with them on facilitating the sale of their share of the coliseum site. the city of oakland will now focus on advancing redevelopment efforts at the coliseum. this, of course, will be the last a season for hundreds of people who they beer, hot dogs and peanuts at

the coliseum. the team is just 74 home games in oakland before they had to sack kron four's. dan thorn joins us in the city after talking with vendors who say this move is heartbreaking >> yeah can one of those vendors says it's been a dream job, talking beers at a's games. >> he says this move is taking money out of his pocket will also ripping away his team from his city. >> it today >> cold for oakland, native kendrick thompson, selling beers at the oakland coliseum has been the holy grail. i grew up. >> watch my father man. and it's like a dream job for me. not only i want a good football player in basketball player. but, you know, this is something down a whole bunch of friends, lifelong friends. hawker is did. the dream come true some i change the world. thompson says he learned through acts. the a's are moving to sacramento next year. >> his first stop was of all his fellow workers who now

know for sure that it's over in oakland isn't much that makes emotion. you want to yell strain. you know, you want to figure next move as soon as possible and hundreds of other people are now facing that reality overall. i think it's a travesty for the city of oakland. >> in that they will no longer be a big league john arnulfo is a former turned business agent with teamsters local 8, 5, 3, >> arnulfo represents around 50 to 60 people who work as novelty or in vendors at the coliseum. but this departure from oakland affects so many more. he says some of his members will likely follow the a's to sacramento. some of the guys already worked there at river games. >> and i suspect more. go up there during the suppose it 3 years of the a's are supposed to be thompson says he's not planning on going because outside of oakland in the bay area. >> it's just not the same

feeling. it's kind of disheartening because, you know, i'm a i love this city. i love this job. >> and do it for free. it is heartbreaking. you know. >> well, as you saw there, thompson was running that sell shirt was vendors are obviously banned from wearing at the coliseum. but thompson said he's holding out that little hope that the team will not leave oakland. that's probably not going to be the case, but he's also telling people to focus on the positive things, right. the teams that are up and coming that could take over in the coliseum. you've got the roots, the soul, and then the new team, the ballers. yeah. it was a little excitement building. yeah. yeah. so it's a it's route because they're on those connections that people have right. when you become not a vendor, you go to the games. you see people calling out the hot had be a part of the action and on a more just cannot guile. all these guys are pride of the city of oakland. the raiders are going on. the war has moved cross bay now. now the a's. yeah. it stop it. and i-5 or 6 years. yeah. and a very short period of time. it's been a. >> and that i'm not going to lie my hometown of sacramento.

more showers tomorrow, too. in fact, this area of low pressure, usually cold system dropping out the gulf of alaska bringing rain not only to the bay area, lots of snow in the high country and snow and rain all the way down into the los angeles area, too. and that's where we sit right now. that area of low pressure just kind of spinning through right now making its way across the bay area. couple of thunderstorms trying to pop up in the east bay as we head throughout the day and then we have a little sunshine couple breaks. and then all of a sudden by the evening hours, the rain started to roll back in. well, things started to pick up again. so we're looking at more snow continuing to fall in parts of the bay area. in fact, boyne mountain hamilton. i think if you look up there tomorrow morning full of white. that's right. plenty of snow across the mountain peaks. thank you. want attend fire crews in the east bay are cleaning up after an apartment fire in the complex is on san pablo avenue between 23rd and van ness streets in san pablo. firefighters say they responded to an attic fire about 9 o'clock tonight. they

had to temporarily evacuate residents while they work to put out the fire and restore utilities there. good news. nobody was hurt and no word tonight on what caused that fire. counting ballots in the race to succeed. congresswoman anna eshoo, it is a tie between assemblyman evan low and santa clara county supervisor. >> joe summit in both candidates are now moving on from the primary and joining former san jose mayor sam liccardo on the november ballot. a time like this is a first for california kron four's noelle bellow here in the studio with reaction from both low and submitting noel. >> can one of these 3 men will represent california 16th district in congress. this race was truly a testament to the statement. every vote count city in and low. both speaking tonight about the tie. both surprised at the outcome and thankful to voters. neither seem interested in a recount. instead, they're focused on november. the issues they want

to tackle and reminding voters why they're the best candidate for the seat. >> there are a host of issues out there that are calling out for someone to be effective in congress. we've got a high cost of living. we've got climate change to tackle. we've got a woman's right to choose all these are issues the cry out for effective legislators among the candidates who are going to be a runoff. i've got the ability to say. i've been there. i've done that have had the success and i can take that same set of skills to washington to deliver for people in our district. what sets me apart is that record of service that when it comes to the most pressing issues that time. >> i champion in co author legislation to enshrine reproductive freedom protections in our state constitution. i've been legislative beer from the california police chiefs association. record amounts legislative proposals continue that washington, d.c., will continue to book partnerships over partisanship and also answering the call for service.

>> cardoz team also sent a short statement tonight saying, quote, we welcome the opportunity to continue to talk to voters about the issues facing our communities, including the high cost of living utility rates and housing and sam's long record of fighting on behalf of residents. now we did ask our political analyst michael yaki earlier about what happens if there's a tie in the november election. it goes down to drawing lots. he said their names would be tossed into a bowl and the secretary of state would pick one and that would be the winner. so we'll have to wait and see. >> if that happens all right. no. well, police in san leandro looking for a killer after a man was stabbed to death inside a safeway store. it happened tuesday evening at the store located on bancroft avenue and treat boulevard. police say the victim got into a fight with the suspect who took out a knife and stabbed the victim before leaving the store. no description given of the suspect, migrant farm worker who survived the half moon bay mass shooting is now

upsuing the owners of the mushroom farms where those killings took place. the worker was shot 5 times during last year's massacre. he survived but lost his older brother. the lawsuit accuses the owners who also house the victims of failing to take reasonable steps to protect their tenants from violent acts. >> apple is planning to lay off more the 600 of its workers from various locations in santa clara tech company recently notifying state labor officials about the layoffs back in february. that tech giant shut down its decade-old quest to build an electric car that resulted in more than 1000 job cuts are reassignments for employees who are working on that project. san francisco mayor's office says it's received 380 applications for its new affordable housing aimed at housing teachers and staff from the city's unified school district. but they won't be able to accept all of them. the housing community plan for the sunset district will only have 135 homes. it's expected to open in the fall.

>> pacifica police releasing body cam video from the deadly shooting last week. officers shot and killed a mother who they say shot and injured her for sara stinson talked with the woman's daughter about what may have led up to the shooting. she joins us now live from pacifica. sarah. >> the daughter says her mom had never been violent before the night prior to the shooting. she says they were celebrating her brother's birthday. she says that's when they learned their mom had bought a gun and they tried to convince her to return it. she says they're all shocked, but she's glad her brother's okay. >> newly released body camera video shows the moment leading up to a deadly police shooting in pacifica. it was before 8 in the morning on march 27th when a 23 year-old man called

9-1-1 after locking himself in the bathroom of his apartment. he says he got shot by his mother. police identified her thursday as 50 year-old michelle or raise shot twice in my arms. i i think >> get shot. want woman in early? 50 point a moment. >> police say a raise was just pulling out of the apartment complex on francisco boulevard. 2 officers tried to stop her one on each side of the driveway. staff police slow down the video to show a raise pointing a gun at both of them before officers shot at her. after the car came to a stop. officers say they removed the gun from a raise his hand and checked on suspects down. >> ambulance arrived for both the sun and mom, but a race died at the scene. >> the son was taken to the hospital after being shot in his left arm and right wrist in a race car. police say they

found a loaded handgun and 4 boxes of ammunition in the apartment. they found the family dog shot and killed the san mateo county district attorney's office is in the middle of an independent investigation to see if the shooting was in compliance. pacifica. police are also doing an internal investigation to see if officers followed policies and procedures while speaking with a race daughter off camera, she told me she believes her mom was going through a mental episode that morning and wishes she never had bought that gun. >> the da says it will take 8 to 9 weeks to complete its investigation. the 2 officers involved are on administrative leave. i'm sara stinson reporting live in pacifica. >> back to you. all right, sarah, thank you. a man and woman are recovering after being shot in east oakland. police say one of them was arrested and happened last night near the intersection of austin avenue and birch street officers say both were taken to the hospital, but one of them was arrested right after being treated. no other

details were released in san jose. 2 men accused of selling drugs on the dark web have been arrested following a months long investigation. >> take a look at some of the items that were found in their homes. police say the investigation stand from a traffic stop in november where they found illegal drugs in the car and that led officials to get a search warrant to the suspects homes. and that's where police say they found multiple guns and large amounts of drugs intended for sale. police say the investigation revealed the suspects sold illegal drugs on the dark web and only accepted cryptocurrency as payment. >> are sick of >> some runners we caught up with in the north bay. pretty tired of all the recent rain. normally at this time it is warmer and sunnier kron four's lawrence karnow joins us now with what's next in the forecast. yeah, i do hear that a lot for people that are tired of all the wet weather.

that's for sure. but we're going to get back to some really nice weather. how about some 70's and some 80's. but that's not to later on. so but tonight we've got more clouds rolling in. we've got more showers here. we've got more snow falling across our local mountains. and boy, this year is just getting covered with a late season storm and that is bringing lots of snow. you see the tree just filled with snow up there. this from you, 70 up there near the falls up there. but we're going to see more of that overnight tonight as that snow really just kind of rolling on in. so they're chaning upon 50 and 80 there. if you're headed across the mountain slopes, be careful. this going to be a very low snow level event. fact, the snow levels dropping down to about 1000 feet. if you can believe that for a day in april, that is unusually low for this time of year. gives you an idea of just how cold the storm rolling on through. and you can see still spinning off the coastline and kind of get the sense of the rotation here, bringing the showers onshore. more snow in the high country. so, yeah, it is going to be one of those nice a cold spring storms. some heavy snow overnight tonight. think maybe some places you could be talking about a couple of feet of snow by the time we have

this all up. but overnight tonight, 2 to 6 inches of snow down to about 2000 feet or so. but that snow level all the way down to about 1000 feet. so they've seen a lot of delays already and that will likely continue tonight. maybe tomorrow at times, too. really interesting. we've got winter weather advisories just to our north clear lake get up toward lake port, hidden valley lake here, looking at snow falling there. and of course, you can see that up over the sierra nevada. that continues all the way down past matt of lakes. and guess what, all the way to the grapevine tonight. you're looking at issues with snow and delays headed in that direction, too. guys, back to you. >> protesters blocked the entrance to the lockheed martin research facility in sunnyvale. the group called for a cease-fire in gaza saying the facility is supplying israel with jets and missiles. about 250 people participated in the rally that lasted for about 5 hours. in a tense moment, a driver sped toward them, got out of his

vehicle and threaten the protesters with a knife. >> present. >> protesters say the man was working at the facility. no word of anybody being arrested during that protest. meanwhile, in los gatos today, people showed their support for people in gaza to palestinian owned businesses teamed up with islamic relief usa today. >> for a fundraising event, one of the business owner says he felt like it was his duty to lead an aid effort like this one.

of berkeley is getting fined $130,000 over how the city has been managing its landfill site at cesar chavez park. >> bay area, air quality officials say the site failed to collect harmful gases from escaping into the air during a power outage in february. they say these gases can negatively affect the health of residents. officials also claim the landfill has failed to submit gas emission test results more than a billion dollars is going to improve the state's hydrogen hubs. u.s. senator alex padilla and oakland congresswoman barbara lee took a tour of one of those hubs. >> at the port of oakland today, the lawmakers say that they secured 1.2 billion dollars for the hubs that help clean the air.

back or mental relief are. just can't imagine these guys playing in minor leagues stadium taking with them more than a half century of memories. from broken records to the bash brothers from 3 in a row to the battle of the bay from legendary mustache to legendary mustache. not that from get off my mound to perfection. and from the swinging moneyball. what comes next as the sun sets on the a's time in the town. >> now 10, 30. yeah. we're going to continue our coverage on the a's moved to sacramento. this move. >> just temporary as the team is really just set its sights on and eventually move to las vegas. yeah, a lot of memories. lot of history after calling oakland home since 1968 that he will now be playing at sutter health park in west sacramento. that starts next year. and while they proposed moving in the past, this will be the first time a move actually takes

place in 2014, signed a 10 year lease to remain at coliseum that in 2018 the a's announced a plan for a new ballpark at the howard terminal at the port of oakland by 2021. with no ballpark plan in place. major league baseball permitted the a's to explore relocation in 2023. the a's reached a deal to move to a site at the tropicana on the strip in las vegas. and mlb owners approved that move with the vegas stadium not set to open until at least 2028. the team has been searching for a place to play when the current lease at the coliseum ends at the end of this season. this is not the first time a major league sports team, of course, has moved out of oakland. the t% raiders located las vegas in 2020, the warriors moved out of oracle arena in 2019 for chase center across the bay, a sports executive and consultant who worked for the a's for 15 years gave this perspective on the situation. >> how did we lose? the

warriors? how did we the oakland raiders? how are we losing the oakland a's? no major american city lost 3 major professional sports teams in such a short period of time. this is going to keep smashing into the side of the hearts minds and souls and a's fans for years to come. but coliseum was the last town square left in open that people of all backgrounds could get together and celebrate their sports changed. and now it is going to be a quiet location. >> but you know, if you want to catch the last game at the oakland coliseum, tickets are going as low as $20 on the mlb website, but they're already being resold for double that price. it the re sailor websites. the game is against the texas rangers september. 26. and if you want to continue to celebrate the a's in sacramento, i you can already secure next season tickets. this is a sutter

got more rain drops falling around the bay area, looking toward the 70 oh bridge right now. yeah. along the golden gate, more raindrops continuing to fall outside as well. little drops there on the lens to and well, there you are. that storm system late season storm bringing us more spring-like flavor as it moved on through even a couple lightning strikes a locally as well. and now it looks like mountains, some leftover rain continuing, especially in the central, the south bay into the east bay as well. even some more snow over the mountain peaks that continuing to fall being picked up by the doppler radar, even in the santa cruz mountains. so it has been an impressive day specially for this time of year to see such a cold storm roll on in and bring that snow. make sure you look toward the mountain tops. tomorrow's the sky begins to part just a bit like to see a nice little white covering of snow across many mountaintops locally about that around the state. this is really affected everybody all the way down. los angeles, some of the showers moving around there as well in the slow going to slowly drag its way southward. so because of that little more wrap-around moisture around that storm system, leave least a chance. some showers, maybe

some thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon, especially in the east bay. you see right here overnight tonight, scattered showers continuing as we head through the night tonight. moves through about 02:00am or so. and then even more snow popping up over the mountain tops by tomorrow morning for the cute, i think it looks mostly dry early on, but by the afternoon started a little heating in the atmosphere. and of course, you start to see some of that moisture rolling on through and then start to worry about some pop-up thunderstorms. and that's something you could watch late in the day. so be careful with that far as rain is concerned, not a ton of rain more to deal with as the system kind rolls on by. so just most that's going to be fairly light up. temperatures going to be very cold, though, tomorrow morning. how about this? we're going to be starting out in the mid 30's in santa rosa tomorrow morning about 39 in the battle. 36 degrees in napa and 34 degrees in little more hovering just above freezing. you can bet some of the mountain tops will be freezing overnight tonight to locally as well. highs tomorrow, maybe just a little bit warmer. i think we're going to squeeze in some more sunshine. despondent about 58 degrees in lemore. 57 in san jose about

55 degrees in napa. but here's where we get happy. we get the weekend. looks like a nice day on saturday, slight chance of a shower on sunday. but look at next week. how about that? you see the 70's number pop. it in the 80's have been able to do that 80's on wednesday and thursday and then it's going to feel like baseball weather next week. so, yeah, we've got some good things to look forward to. you know, there's the half the cup. half empty people. cup. full people. yeah. your the cup overflowing. haha cause. i like it. so well, yeah. and the reservoirs there there there that off. so that's the best thing of water last couple years. fantastic. >> the snowpack looking absolutely amazing. can go skiing this weekend keen other. you know. >> guilt-free son. that's right. feel bad about a drought, not enjoy the sunshine that other cliche. it's a silver lining. there we go there. thanks high speed rail could get support from congress in the future.

lawmakers are hoping to pass a bill that would invest more than 200 billion dollars into high-speed rail over 5 years. >> each year, 40 billion dollars will be split between the state and region said show they could use the money most effectively. high-speed rail is a popular and highly effective mode of transportation throughout europe and asia. supporters of the bill say the u.s. needs to catch up. >> we're behind the rest of the world by a lot. but we can catch up with this bill. it's really a way to rebuild america to reconnect america. >> opponents of the bill say it's unrealistic to compare the u.s. to the geographically smaller countries in europe and asia. when it comes to high-speed rail. >> april is autism acceptance month and here on the bay area's local news station, why we're spotlighting the program in the south bay that gives adults with learning disabilities a chance to continue their college education when off in that group is aged out of the educational system. our kron four's philippe shows us how
