oakland coliseum. yeah, we're also hearing statements from a mayor sheng thao this morning. oakland offering a deal that was fair to the a's and was fiscally responsible for our city. >> with the a's the best and we'll continue our conversations with them on facilitating their cell of their share of the coliseum site. the city of oakland will now focus on advancing redevelopment efforts at the coliseum. know a lot of fans this morning not and a heartbroken by this, a number of them, thousands of them had been working to try and keep. >> the oakland a's in oakland, everything from boycotts too, pleading with a's owner john fisher to sell the team to somebody who wants to keep. the baseball team here in the bay area. but that looks like that's not going to happen. we did hear from john fisher in the form of a statement in that press release this morning. he said, quote, we look forward to making sutter health park, our home through our move to las vegas. we've also heard from the veteran who is the owner of the sacramento kings and by
9:02 am
extension, the majority owner of the sacramento river cats would play there at sutter health park. and he said this morning, i'm thrilled to welcome the a's to sutter health park. where players and fans alike can enjoy world-class baseball experience and create unforgettable memories. but again, sadly for local oakland a's fans who maybe can't make that trip up there. that's this is the end of the road. a local mlb baseball team there in the east bay. you know, i remember growing up here in oakland going to james lewis added. >> the different families that went out, it was a little break in just a hectic day today. you can share that moment with your kids. so i know that it really concerned about the turnout in terms of if fans are going to still continue to support while the a's were here. >> and now we know they're moving to sacramento, maybe can. hopefully they can have the fans in that area come out and still some of the faith pulls. well, ali drive up to >> sad news, though, for oakland a's fans all around. we do know there is going to be a press conference taking
9:03 am
place at 10 o'clock this morning. we're going to bring that to you live when it happens. so keep it to adhere to kron 4. we also are going to be chatting here just a couple of minutes getting is from 95 7, the game. we're going to be talking about. this whole movie has been covering this for a time. so his perspective. so stay tuned. and out's, ok? so another big stories you see on your screen. there is the rain and the storm. >> the wind, the snow. we've been seeing a whole lot of it. we've got flight delays. a few accidents mask out of sfo. yeah. let's get started the with the forecast. john yapp from sfo to the roads. it's just been delays for a lot of us this morning as we try to get thir thursday kicked off in doing so with some pretty heavy rainfall. unfortunately for us, the heaviest and most widespread of rainfall is right in the midst of this morning commute this morning, which has made for a slow go for a lot of our thursday morning. drivers. this is mount tam right now. it's back to some rain snow mix. but about 30 minutes ago it was big, fluffy snow falling on those trees and actually sticking there for a little bit. i was quite the sight to
9:04 am
see for april. this is an unseasonably cold april system that is working its way through right now. currently we're seeing a lot of blue in the santa cruz mountains as well as the blows. this is out hamilton. the lick observatory is above san jose and livermore right here. and it is going to see multiple inches of snowfall today. morgan hill, we've seen lightning in the vicinity for you. so as you make your drive down 101, it's not just a very heavy rainfall. it's also a thunderstorm right there and highway 17 between san jose and santa cruz have had confirmed a rain-snow mix going on there. so watch out for those tight curbs. a got lot of slick spots as you make your way to the redwoods there. highway 4 as well as 24 6.80, and i-80 are all looking at heavy rainfall on stretches of your spans this morning. take it slow. in fact, in the show this morning had downright downpours over about an hour ago. we are continuing to see showers and strong winds on our bridges as well. so slow and go on those areas. we'll continue to see the showers over about the next
9:05 am
hour by 10:00am. we're already seeing spots of sunshine and signs of clearing. but don't let that think you're in the clear necessarily, as you can see into the afternoon, we'll still see isolated thunderstorm development, including right here around one 15. you see that cell developing over san francisco and oakland. those pop-up showers will move really quickly. dark clouds developing in just a few moments after sunshiny spots. so that's the way the afternoon is looking as for right now, we're still chilly. it's 09:00am. and we're still hanging out in the 40's. this cold air mass that is pushing through will keep temperatures down all weekend long down in the 50's for most areas this afternoon. michael. >> thanks, john. and good morning, everyone will the roads are definitely busy this morning. you can see right here on traffic tracker for we see lots of green but small areas of red and that yellow and think of it as a traffic light, right? the green means go yellow means slow down in that red means stop so everywhere that we see red, that is where we're seeing major delays. we've got drive times now on your screen. you can see to step out the way. 21 minute commute crockett to
9:06 am
the maze. 25 minute commute. wanna creek to 5? 80 19 minute commute. castro valley to the maze. 26 minute commute. san leandro to the maze as well. and once you get to that mays and you're getting ready to cross over that bay bridge, you can see it's an 18 minute commute. still those slick roads, but 18 minutes probably the best we've seen all morning since about 5 o'clock this morning. so stop and go traffic with those metering lights on. but still good news. i want to take one look over at the 101. excuse me 101. earlier we did see some traffic delays there, but things are starting to clear up. you can see that yellow now turning to actually green. lastly will give you a live look at mateo bridge. it is a 16 minute commute over that right now. i will send it back to 2 at the desk. all right, michael, thank you for that. well, we've got team coverage. >> as we've been talking about switching gears here, we've been talking with the for commuters this morning. we've got will tran standing by with a look outside as what conditions are like in his part of the bay. good morning. well,
9:07 am
>> you know what, james? it's slow down for a little bit between like 8.30, in 8.45. and sure enough. i looked start to pick up again. once i stepped out to do a live shot, you can see the rain still coming down and the traffic is light. so maybe many people said, you know what, bosken i work from home and just get everything done without leaving because they can help light traffic is. and it's 9 o'clock in the morning. yes, we're over the major home of the morning commute, but we should see it bigger than it is right now. fortunately, it is not windy. the rain. it looks like it's going to be here all day. yes, there's some paddling going on, but not the torrential rains so far. i know it's an all-day thing. so you know what? maybe a got a little light dose in the morning, but maybe in the afternoon you will be hit hard with the rainfall. so take it easy out there. definitely have your rain jacket. and james, because i'm a team player in between. 89, i did some talking to the sun. told
9:08 am
him didn't didn't like how he got things done. sleeping on the job was raindrops keep falling on back to no all right. time now is 907. now. >> let's get back to the other big story this morning. the fact that the oakland a's are moving to sacramento here on your screen. you see the comment this morning released by the office of oakland, mayor sheng thao. it reached quote, oakland offered a deal that was fair to the a's and was fiscally responsible for our city. we wish the a's the best and we'll continue our conversations with them on facilitating the sale of their share of coliseum of the coliseum site, the city of oakland will now focus on advancing redevelopment efforts at the coliseum. all right, that the latest from the mayor on the news this morning. they have. so let me just mention the a's assured ill they are moving to sacramento for. >> the next 3 seasons that
9:09 am
starts in 2025. joining us right now to talk more about this getting with 95 7 the evan, thank you so much for joining us this morning. and we've been following the team for a while and all this drama. >> the news hitting this morning. what your first thought. >> well, it's isn't properly gloomy day. and the bay area, i think for a lot of people that are oakland a's fans that have friends or family members that have been supporting these for a long time. that group going to call see him since the mid 60's. it's a tough day, but unfortunately, one that people i think have been preparing themselves for for a long time. there's still a little bit of hope, i guess. but i think the let the last threat of that hope was little bit left today when they announced that they were moving to sacramento. the start of next season. do we just read that quote from the mayor that said, you know, they offered the >> what you call it a deal that was fair to to the a's and was fiscally responsible for our city. fans. i think if you talk to most of them, we'll lay blame on both sides
9:10 am
of this thing for a deal not coming to fruition was what the city offered. the a's reasonable wasn't fair. did it just scare them off to sacramento and vice versa? john fisher, was he a fair player in this as well? >> it was fair for the city of oakland but was fair for oakland has never been fair for john fisher and the deal also included the idea of an expansion team as oakland's trying to protect itself from not having any professional baseball in the city of oakland. and so it comes down to me. it's from 3 different sites, deplorable, despicable and damning recall the they were complicit in this. and when i look at this situation, a look at john fisher, the owner of the oakland athletics. i look at rob manfred, the commissioner, major league baseball. and i look at the background of they the owner center healthpark the team in the place that's taking the oakland athletics. beyond next season, all 3 of those members are complicit in what just transpired earlier today. and so whether fans want to blame the a's when
9:11 am
want to blame oakland, ice i believe they should point their iras. 3 different separate parts of this because it doesn't take just 2 to tango in the situation. in fact, actually took 3 to tango with what happened in the a's moving to sacramento. they're no longer going to be playing in oakland. and that's a stark reality that a lot of people i think are having a hard time wrapping their minds around. >> you know, evan, las vegas is not a done deal made. what are the that we see is staying in sacramento for longer than those 3 seasons? yeah, but there's still that fly in the ointment. >> that's true. i mean, it look, they've been talking about getting a ballpark in a lot of different cities and a lot of different places. both in oakland around the bay area for it feels like decades now. so if they were there beyond twenty-twenty 7 in sacramento, that would not surprise me because the only thing consistent about john fisher has been his inconsistency to keep his word. so if he says they're going to their 2027, i feel like i probably put my money on them being there longer. the unfortunate place for a lot of people in fans
9:12 am
that love the a's is that once again they got to think about a team that stuck in purgatory and instead of it being their favorite city in their favor, ballpark in the city of oakland, it's going to be an hour and a half or 2 hours north up in sacramento, a place a lot of people either don't want to or can't get too frequent enough to fulfill their love for a team that they've grown up with. >> i mean, yeah, we've been talking about that. the team that i've bmj is both a grow> up in love. economic lee. i mean, this is just another just another blow to imaging oakland with it. well, i mean, we already saw the warriors go to san francisco, leave that part of the day. obviously, the raiders are now in las vegas. and now you've got the a's leading to this. can't be good for i mean, just oakland. >> no, but unfortunately, the a's seemed to be the team of the 3 that was trying to take the most advantage of the city. and so while i'm very sad for a lot of my friends and family members that had to watch the raiders lead that had watch the warriors now playing san francisco. it felt like because of the absence of those 2 teams that the a's
9:13 am
felt like they essentially i don't put a shackle on the city and extract whatever they wanted out of them. and that was not something that the city of oakland to their credit was willing to do. so as much as some people might feel like the city of oakland is a little bit involved in them to me. they were trying to protect themselves from economic downturn. in from that perspective, i can't blame them for dissension, telling kick rocks when they wouldn't take a deal. that was fair enough for both sides. in my opinion and just >> valid evan, thank you so much for joining us this morning. clearly a story that you and everybody else going to be talking about all day-long. appreciate your perspective. thank you. thank you very much. have a good day, utah all right. we'll certainly sensed or to say the least. yeah. so. >> more to come. stay tuned again. that press conference, 10 o'clock. we're going to carry it here live. >> 9.12, and looking outside. we are seeing rain and snow depends on where you're talking. a lot of snow in our north bay peaks this morning
9:14 am
and the heavy rainfall continues out in the inland east bay, allay down the area on over to the some of our heavi
9:15 am
9:16 am
>> 9.15, the time as we continue our team coverage of the rain and the stormy weather around the bay. this a live look from san mateo right now where we've got the peninsula, obviously in on the party along with everybody else, the rain, the wind, even the snow to we've got all in this morning. sit in on the party. but what if we don't want to party party, you don't want to be have to participate right is like 04:00am when you wanted to sleep for 4 hours
9:17 am
now. >> but everyone else just won't but hey, you know what? this is april in the bay area this year. any ways we are looking at it and that lays a and that season. cold storm across the bay. so cold, in fact that we saw a lot of snow just moments ago up on mount tam. now that it's tik. well, it did for a second there. now it's back to the rain snow mix and you're not seeing it on the branches like you had been. but wow, that was quite the sight to see per early april. we're still seeing several inches of snow falling up in the north bay mountains and a lot of it up around mount hamilton, east of san jose this morning. the lick observatory like they have some impressive snowfall totals out of this one. we are seeing some of our heaviest of rainfall out towards the delta, especially in contra costa and solano counties right now and some heavy snowfall going to continue to fall today into tomorrow up in the sierra nevada. this low pressure is dragging in with it. some cold air from the gulf of alaska. and that is
9:18 am
bringing such an unseasonably cold system, our direction. we'll continue to see showers over the next hour here. but then some peeks of sunshine as soon as 10:00am. don't be fooled into thinking this is over. we are still going to be looking at spots of heavy rainfall on through the remainder of the day today. here's 01:00pm chance of not just rain, but maybe even an isolated thunderstorm moving over san francisco at that point, we'll see some peeks of sunshine further on into the afternoon. but still some of those dark clouds developing a thunderstorm or 2 overnight tonight, staying active snow level falling very low, 1500 feet up in the mountains above the bay area. we're going to be waking up tomorrow to some white caps on those mountains. we will continue to see an isolated chance of thunderstorms into the afternoon tomorrow. here's around 02:00pm into 05:00pm tomorrow afternoon. but wright, the time that we get to sunset it all just disappears will come down really quickly and friday night into saturday, consistently dry conditions. much better to get outside on saturday. as for rainfall
9:19 am
totals, additional rainfall around a half, an inch is still ahead of us for some areas. and we are going to see additional snowfall in the sierra. a winter weather advisory in effect through 11:00pm tomorrow. several feet of snowfall higher up another foot donner summit. and of course, that snow showing up here in our mountains in the bay area, too, expect chain controls delays. as you get up to the sierra today into tomorrow to enjoy some spring skiing up there. temperatures today are going to be in the mid 50's the very warmest. and that's even with those peaks of sunshine. factored in. so its jackets on today tomorrow, even saturday, we dry out on saturday. but we don't magically just warm up yet. we're still in that cool air mass. one more chance of overnight showers sunday night into monday morning. then we're smooth sailing by monday for the eclipse. we're near 70 degrees. and by wednesday, we're actually already getting near 80 degrees. michael. >> thanks, john. and good morning, everyone. happy friday, junior. the roads are looking a lot better right now. you can see to my left lots of green, not too much
9:20 am
red, but still some small pockets of yellow, meaning that it is slowing down. taking a look right now at some drive times for you. we've got to check out of danville 15 minutes. a 35 minute commute for san leandro to milpitas. 25 minute commute from san jose to cupertino again, there are some areas this morning that we did a little bit more traffic specifically over in the 101. and we'll get into that right now. but taking a live look over at the bay bridge, 16 minute commute. there's still those slick roads. this is probably the best. we've seen it since 5 o'clock this morning. and then if we head over to westbound 80 crockett to the maze, 18 minute commute, which looks really good. there were some collisions earlier. those have cleared up giving drive .imes a lot more room to breathe. 18 minute commute. castro valley to oakland stanley under to oakland. 21 minute commute. 14 minute commute when it comes to san jose to cupertino. all good things before sunday. guys back over. i want to take you a look at walnut creek over to 5.80, there. it's only a 19 minute commute. i'll send it back to the desk. >> time now to talk winners
