story tonight in san francisco where a driver strikes 5 people in the west portal neighborhood earlier today. 2 of the victims died at the scene and one of them was a child. emergency crews responding to the deadly crash that forced you, lois street and west portal avenue to shut down today. this happened just after 12:40pm, according to san francisco fire, the driver was traveling eastbound a new low when that person crashed into a bus shelter where 4 people were standing walk san francisco, a pedestrian advocacy, nonprofit group says a man and a toddler were killed and a woman and a baby were among the injured taken to the hospital. this happening as dozens of people were in the area. many witnessing the tragic car accident. >> it's a whole bunch and is here. sirens going fire trucks. it was simply just chaos here. a bunch of crowds. everything was nothing like this has ever happened.

>> san francisco mayor london breed stopped by the area to pay her respects in earlier she posted on the social media site x today. there was a tragic collision in west portal. 2 lives were lost, including a child. 3 more are in the hospital. i've just visited the scene and it is heartbreaking. we will share more information when we can. but now our focus is on the victims and their families. police are still not sure what caused this crash. this is the 5th and 6th pedestrian deaths of the year. more than double what it was at this time last year. san francisco streets could have speed cameras monitoring drivers. transit officials are looking to install them at 33 spots. that includes school zones in areas that have seen sideshows officials say warning no, notices will be sent to those who are speeding in the first 2 months of the operations. then after that fines will be sent to those caught speeding. transit officials say it's not about collecting money.

>> we would be very happy if this program earns no revenue. what we're trying to do is change behavior. >> the sfmta will be discussing the camera locations at a meeting next week. oakland police are investigating tonight. 2 separate overnight shootings. the first happened around 10, 30 last night on 100nd avenue. not far from international boulevard and bronze elementary school police say they arrived to find a man from san francisco who had been shot and he died by the time paramedics got there. a man from oakland was taken into custody for the shooting. but police did not share any details about what happened. the identities of both the victim and the man in custody are being withheld at this time as the investigation is ongoing. the second shooting happened just before 1 o'clock this morning on international boulevard on the corner of 8th avenue near clinton park. police were called here by shot spotter, which is the gunshot detection where

officers on scene say they did see evidence there was a shooting, but they were unable to locate a victim. later, police learned a person who had been shot took themselves to the hospital for treatment. police are still investigating what happened in this case as well. happening now, caltrans officials have shut down a nine-mile stretch of 6.80, southbound through early next week. it's for a paving project that was meant to start in january but got delayed because of the rain storms. 6.80, is closed between the 5, 86, 80 connector in pleasanton all the way through highway 84 in sunol. the closure goes through 4 o'clock monday morning. caltrans says this weekend's closure will help lower the number of closures needed to finish the project. also happening this weekend in the east bay, a stretch of bart between richmond and the else del norte, a station closed through tomorrow for track work. all red lines services canceled in the area

free buses will be available for community and commuters between those 2 stations. all right. let's get you a check. your 4 zone forecast tonight. we're taking a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. it was a nice day for people to be out and about in the city and pretty much all across the bay area today long. joining us with a look at the forecast to >> and that nice weather will continue through the rest of the weekend. and at least monday, we're going to be holding on to some warm temperatures in the upper 60's and low 70's here is quite tower lit up tonight. we do have some the clouds are rolling again tonight along the coast. and that's going to a little shift in the weather. but here are the daytime highs. so we had the return of on-shore flow. the change in the wind directions. and you can see that the temperature drop in san francisco, which was 73 yesterday. 67 today and 70's everywhere else. so still above seasonal averages. but we're still quiet here on our satellite and radar. the unsettled weather remains to our south. there is a winter storm warning over at big bear until sunday morning. and

temperatures out the door are a little cooler side down to the low 50's upper 50's and you can even see we are cooler, especially in san francisco where down 8 degrees, the newburgh yesterday. that's because of that. a sea breeze coming in and it is a little bit breezy right now, relatively calm everywhere else in places like mountain view in half moon bay. and here is the rest of your weekend forecast for the holiday. it's going to be very nice during the day. so come back, we'll talk about a little bit of some wind breeze in the afternoon and late in evening as well. but we'll still be in the upper 60's and low 70's. so a very nice around weekend on tap for the rest of the holiday weekend. if you're out celebrating back to you. all right. thanks a 3 people are dead after a shooting and then a standoff in pennsylvania. >> tonight we're learning about the connection between the gunman and the victims news nation's drake. clark has the latest. >> police here in trenton say they want a peaceful surrender and that's exactly what they got. but the way it happened is what took many people by

surprise trenton police officer spotted andre gordon junior just casually walking down the street a few blocks from here. the officer approached gordon gordon confirmed his identity and he was taken into custody. meanwhile, police surrounded this home. you see here behind for more than 5 hours believing gordon was inside on saturday afternoon. now, police say gordon was here at one point, but he left here long before police officers arrived and set up that widespread perimeter around this community down. this entire ordeal began saturday morning just after 8 o'clock when police say gordon stole a car here in trenton and rover cost the state line to nearby falls township in bucks county, pennsylvania, where police say he broke into a home and shot and killed his 52 year-old mother and 13 year-old sister with an ar 15 assault rifle. police say there were at least 3 other people inside the home when the shooting happened. but they hid from gordon in a separate room effectively saving their own lives. police

say he then drove to a second home in the same town and murdered the 25 year-old mother of his 2 children and then beat her mother nearly to death using the same gun that he used to kill the victims. gordon, then carjacked a 44 year-old man at a nearby store and roll back to a home in trenton. there were people inside the home when they see gordon rushed in. they ran upstairs and police were able to get them out through a second-floor window for hours. local and state police as well as federal agents surrounded the home waiting for gordon to peacefully surrender. only to find out he was not inside the home. here's more from trenton's mayor explaining how the situation reached a conclusion. 2 blocks away. >> seems to be walking down, fit the description. they approached surrendered peacefully. and the mayor says he's happy. the ordeal ended peacefully. but heartbroken knowing 3 lives were taken senselessly. meanwhile, police were still here. >> outside seeing several hours after gordon was taken

into custody. investigators working inside and outside the home. >> the key question for investigators right now, they say gordon was homeless. so they're trying to find out how he was able to acquire that ar 15 assault rifle that he used to shoot and kill those 3 victims earlier in the day. meanwhile, he is in custody facing both murder and weapons charges. >> and that was news nation. drake. clark reporting for us tonight in san jose, a man walking on 2.80, was hit by a drunk driver and then sent to the hospital. this is the scene on 2.80, north of vine street around 11 o'clock last night. chp says that and they're not sure why the person was walking on the interstate when they were hit head-on by a man driving a white bmw when the highway patrol arrived, the victim was unresponsive and taken to the hospital. the driver was arrested. no word on how that victim is doing tonight. also in san jose police officers searching for someone who broke into a house with a hammer earlier today. this

happened around one 20 this afternoon on hamilton avenue in the south side of the city video from the citizen app here showing the police presence on the street. police responded to reports of a suspect seen inside the home holding a hammer. when officers arrived, though they say he didn't find anybody inside the house. investigation is ongoing. bagpipes corned beef and a sea of green taking over the streets of san francisco today for the annual saint patrick's day parade. the parade marching down market street ended at the civic center plaza for a festival. you can see the dancers. they're, of course, marching bands feeling the street with traditional iras song. mayor london breed also attending the event there were floats, people and participating in having a good time and it was a nice day to be decked out in green. the celebrations continued today in the east bay. while it looks delicious. alameda county firefighters hosting

where a middle school was forced to go on lockdown yesterday after people saw student holding a toy gun they thought was real. police say they got reports of the student carrying a handgun in front sinaloa middle school. this happened after classes were over, but there were still staff and students on campus. police did find a group of teens with nerf guns intended for a senior challenge. the lockdown was eventually lifted. the nation. police arrest 2 men after a gun battle in 7.80, police say this started as a chase around 9.20, last night after a car spotted in connection to a robbery took off onto the freeway. one of the suspects shot at officers before crashing the car at the bottom of the eastbound off-ramp at military west. one of those suspects was arrested right away. but the other took off on foot and continued shooting

at the officers who then returned fire. officers eventually arrested the second suspect after they were found hiding in some bushes. investigation shut down 7.80, in both directions between columbus parkway rose drive and southampton road for several hours. no injuries were reported. the oakland zoo's gondolas going to be closed because of wind. the park released a statement on their social media saying the attraction is going to be closed until monday. the rest of the park is open now all weekend with some new animals for people to check out. with that. let's get you a check. your 4 zone forecast tonight taking a live look at the embarcadero. you can see maybe just a little bit of wind out there with the flag there flapping around. but it was real nice one out there today. gayle ong joining us with a look at the forecast. a gale. >> hello, you can expect another nice day in store for tomorrow and monday. and we do have the return of fog in the clouds, as you could see, a view from across the bay area. you see some clouds over at the mount tam cam, the golden gate bridge and the east bay

hills. so just keep that in mind. visibility will be tough. you'll see it in the future. cast model temperatures out the door are down to the low 50's mid to upper 50's in some places. and we have a little bit of a breeze that it was breezy or earlier in the evening, but not as strong as what we saw earlier in the week with the offshore when this is now a change in the wind direction. so it's bringing the temperatures a little cooler because of that onshore flow. so it is relatively quiet on our storm tracker. but if head down south to southern california, there is some unsettled weather out there. and there's also a winter storm warning over at big bear until tomorrow morning. future cast model shows of those clouds and the fog rolling in. this is about 11:00pm and overnight it will be dense in some places like san francisco towards the east bay and then it will linger on until sunday morning. but things will clear out in the afternoon. so we'll be mostly clear. same pattern monday. well, you'll notice some clouds there, but then the evening you'll see the

cease-fire talks which may resume as soon as tomorrow. well, today, the first aid ship is arriving as concerns about nutrition and famine grow in gaza. the ship carrying 200 tons of food and water on a barge. humanitarian aid is being offloaded onto a jetty. the aid was delivered by world central kitchen, the nonprofit of celebrity chef jose andres. and this comes as israeli officials and hamas leaders are expected to join in direct negotiations in qatar as soon as tomorrow. netanyahu is called hamas's primo's proposals for anything unrealistic. yesterday he approved plans for a military operation in rafah concerning world leaders. >> i think the consequences of a ground operation in rafah in the current circumstances will be catastrophic for the people. of gaza, for the palestinians. >> and tom dempsey is tracking the very latest with where negotiations stand now.

without. a proper accounting for all those people that would, as we've said be a disaster. and so we're going talk to the israelis about this. progress could come sunday when israel and hamas plan to resume stalled peace talks. the first time both sides will meet since ramadan began. hamas has proposed a plan that would begin with a six-week ceasefire and the release of 35 israeli hostages in return for 350 palestinian prisoners being held in israel, whether israel will accept the terms remains unknown. we're cautiously optimistic that things are moving in a good direction. but that doesn't mean that it's done and we're going to have to staff this to the very, very end. >> that was tom dempsey reporting for us tonight. the war in ukraine has been going on for 751 days. >> russia and ukraine strike cities on the border with long-range missiles. attacks come as russian president vladimir putin seeks another 6 year term. new video shows russian missiles hitting a residential area near the port of odesa in southern ukraine.

dollar general is making changes to its check out procedures because of ongoing theft issues. the company ceo is removing self checkout, stands in about 300 locations after an increase in shoplifting. the company adds that it wants more workers involved check out again to help cut down on the number of people stealing. this comes as target is also rolling out changes to its self checkout lanes, starting tomorrow. it's converting them to express lanes for customers with 10 items or less. the federal

trade commission is providing more than 4 million dollars in refunds to people duped by student debt forgiveness camps targeting mission hills, federal in federal direct group in 2019. a complaint from that time. the ftc claims the organizations have been defrauding borrowers since 2014. the agency says more than 27,000 people fell victim to the scams and can expect checks within 90 days. the ftc says that it will continue cts efforts to combat such fraudulent schemes. in san francisco, a new hub for career counseling is helping residents with there job journey for city rolls. mayor london breed announcing this week that a room in city hall will now serve as a place that city employee applicants can receive resume reviews and practice their interviewing skills. just last year. a jobs report from the san francisco civil grand jury found that there were nearly 5,000 vacancies for city jobs. now

welcome back to kron. 4 news at 10. a car slams into a city national bank in oakland during an apparent attempted burglary. take a look at this. this is at the city national bank location on broadway and 12th and downtown police say 4 or 5 people were in the car when he drove into the bank just before 6 o'clock this morning, the car was used to get into the building that once inside, police say that these would-be burglars were unable to gain access to anything of they ran away and left their car behind. no injuries were reported. police are still looking for the people who are responsible. chp releasing video of a wreck involving one of their patrol cars earlier this week in sacramento. 2 officers were injured and they're now calling the crash intentional. this happened wednesday afternoon. the officers were sitting in their vehicle stopped on the side of the road. can see that they're on the right hand corner. that's when they say that one person intentionally drove their vehicle right into the right shoulder. chp also issuing a

statement on this crash. it's like this against our officers will not be tolerated. >> are chp detectives, investigative personnel will work collaboratively with the district attorney's office to ensure this individual is held accountable for his actions. >> those 2 officers were both taken to the hospital for their injuries. chp says the suspect he's accused of crashing into the cars there has been arrested. a southern california family calling for murder charges after deputies shot and killed a 15 year-old boy with autism. deputies are responding to a domestic disturbance call on march 9th when they shot 15 year-old ryan gainer body cam video released this week shows gaynor charging a deputy with a 5 foot long garden tool before the deputy shot and killed him. attorneys for the gator family say teen was autistic and experiencing a mental health episode. adding that deputies were aware of that in a news conference this

week, the sheriff said gainer needed and should have received mental health care in the days and weeks before the shooting. well, this weekend, people are cleaning up and assessing damage following deadly tornadoes. storms ripped through parts of ohio, kentucky, indiana and arkansas on thursday. one of the hardest hit areas was the indian lake section of logan county, ohio. 3 people were killed, 40 others injured. one woman desoribes the scene up. she found. that she found after the tornadoes. >> my dad's garage was leveled. the back of his house is gone like that. everything's gone >> just climbing over everything screaming for our dad. when i finally found and though he said soccer, >> storms damaging dozens of homes and indiana as well.

mother nature sends another damaging winter storm across southern california, causing trees to fall on top of homes and leaving many residents displaced. omar lewis reports from long beach where the community is left to pick up the pieces. >> this may be a sunny saturday. however, some southern californians are still surrounded by a muddy mess. and without certain utilities living somewhat primitive lee residents along caribou lane in beverly glen are dealing with the fallout from rainstorms and mudslides in early february when it collapsing hillside washta home right off its foundation, sending it crashing into the neighbor's houses across the street. the force of the flow quickly shredded the structure pushing debris and furniture downhill. the home was unoccupied at the time. but neighbor david christensen had a rude awakening around you know, 5 houses were affected.

6 cars were totaled new scratch. and humans who is pretty miraculous. >> how are you doing now and tell us about the cleanup effort. yeah, the cleanup effort has really slow. it took about 4 and a half weeks just to get crews out here to start to do the work. so they're digging it out. but then they had a water main and now really deep. he has to come out. socal gas is saying they need 3 to 8 weeks of planning. >> across town in baldwin hills, some storm victims are getting a helping hand this holiday weekend. team rubicon is an international humanitarian relief organization based in los angeles, these volunteer gray shirt good samaritans reach out to elderly and underinsured. residents in need mud and debris had smashed through the home of eighty-year-old floyd's sims earlier this year. but here again, sharing and caring.

>> it's still continue also blast. >> and that was omar lewis in long beach for us tonight. all right. let's get a look at our forecast here in the bay area, taking a live look at the golden gate bridge. lot of cars still coming into and leaving the city tonight was gorgeous. one out there today. gayle ong joining us with a look ahead go. >> yes, gorgeous, indeed. and we have a more of that weather coming up tomorrow and monday as we enter the first day of spring on tuesday, you can see in the bay area. we have pleasant weather, quiet weather but unsettled weather in southern california. just heard there. there was some storms yesterday and there is a winter storm warning in the big bear area until tomorrow morning. so this is the same system that actually brought us so strong winds earlier in the week. that low pressure system now moving to the desert southwest. no watches and warnings in tahoe here. a very nice weekend, actually to head out to the sierra sunny skies in the 50's back here in the bay area. we have the return of the clouds and the fog coming in overnight in the in the evening hours as well.

so san francisco, 53 degrees right now. same in livermore and 50 degrees in half moon bay. 51 in santa rosa. so low 50's tonight and we have a bit of onshore flow here, but pretty much relatively calm. but here is some of the wind speeds now in the overnight hours. you see a pop which typically happens. but then winds start to calm down tomorrow morning and daytime. so you'll still have that nice. pleasant weather is going to feel refreshing with that sunshine. and then late afternoon, we're going to get another round some winds here. so not as strong as what we saw, but the typical sea breeze as this front comes in. but here's the tenet an outlet because there are some changes. we have sunshine from now until monday. and then some unsettled weather next weekend. so enjoy this sunshine this weekend because we have some beneficial rain. it looks like coming up next weekend. back to you. all right, gail, thanks. a lot social media giant meta under investigation. >> according to a new wall street journal report,

authorities are investigating to see if the company helped facilitate or even profited from the sale of illegal drugs on its platforms. that report claims that federal prosecutors in the fda getting a new probe investigating meta for its role in facilitating the sale of illegal drugs and other substances throughout like facebook and instagram. in a statement, a meta spokesperson said the sale of illicit drugs is against our policies and we work to find and remove this content from our services. but investigators aren't so sure prosecutors in the fda yet to comment on the report. but matt is president of global affairs pushed back against the allegations friday highlighting the company's partnership with the alliance to prevent drug harm and their efforts to stop the sale of drugs online. well, it's not the first time that we've seen a social media company come under fire for drug sales just 2 months ago. a california court ruled with the families of 11 children who overdosed on fentanyl. but on snapchat. now the platform is going to face families in court after a
