airport. so 3 locations. let me show you video of what happened. it's rare that it happens. it's even more rare that is captured on video. and that's exactly what happened yesterday right afternoon when the plane took off from sfo and it was trying to tuck in its landing gear when all of a sudden one of its tires comes off and lands in an employee parking lot. fortunately, nobody was inside the cars course severely damaged cars. so nobody injured or killed because of it. the plane kept going, but it had to be diverted instead of going all the way japan, osaka, japan. it was diverted to lax where it made an emergency landing, not a problem. they have 6 tires on east street of the landing gear so he could handle the weight even without that one tire. but as soon as it landed, it came to a stop and was actually towed to the

gate where it's still there. so everything hopefully is intact where they will look at it. the remaining passengers they were put on another plane and then took off to osaka japan. but you know what's left behind? lots of questions from passengers and travelers at sfo. >> i would hope after some of the incidents that those start upping the inspections doing little bit more chair before people get on the planes. >> daria reyna reportedly that plane is 22 years old. was made by boeing so the engineers could be called in. but it's been owned by united airlines. so the first thing that they will talk to our first people they will talk to are the maintenance crews to see when was the last inspection of that. what did you do? and if it's them, then it stops right there. but it is an engineering problem. and of course, boeing often make an

even more rare. that's even captured on video. >> back salute leak and believe we saw the thing. hank, you all right. let's turn to another big story 2 people are dead after a murder suicide led to a police chase. yeah. police say that the man in this case shot and killed a woman and a home in pleasanton then led police on a chase that ended up shooting him self on the side of 5.80, near san leandro kron four's amanda hari has more. >> everyone i spoke to says this neighborhood is extremely quiet and the experience almost no crime. they say the situation is very sad, but they're grateful the threat is over a little bit strange and shocking. that's how people live in this neighborhood described what happened thursday. saginaw circle near santa rita road and west lost see does boulevard covered crime scene tape amid a murder

suicide investigation this morning at around 11 o'clock >> i some bangs, apparently there was a gunshot at that time. i didn't recognize it as a question. this woman who didn't want to appear on camera. >> says she was home in pleasanton. police responded and found the victim dead with multiple gunshot wounds. that and they came in. she says she's lived in this complex since 1997, but she has never seen a police presence like this one. the shooting was then almost immediately followed by a police chase. there are requesting assistance. their officers were actively in pursuit of a known a murder suspect on 5.80. that pursuit ended in san leandro. >> near the benedict drive exit, the driver died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. the suspect vehicle while him pursue. >> crash. and at that point, there was a high risk staff as well as the standoff. approximately 30 minutes. it was determined that the

suspect had to come to his own injuries. i saw on the news earlier. >> the 5.80, was shut down. and i said, that's crazy. that's a major freeway shut down for hours. then i came home to see police around her neighborhood and found out that it was related. tim parks as he chose to live here in pleasanton because it's a safe community. he never expected anything like this. >> he says he's not sure who the suspect or the victim. it's i don't know who live there. >> maybe i saw them, but i don't know if if i know who does or not, it just a disturbed guy. didn't know how to control his emotions. i guess it's only thing goes through my mind. pleasanton police is handling the murder investigation. again, there is no threat to the public at this time. >> in pleasanton amanda hari kron. 4 news. well, happening today, 3 men charged with the shooting death of security guard kevin nishita are going back in court along gilbert hershel hale and shadihia

mitchell. we're going to face arraignment 8.30, this morning, kevin, as she did, was shot and killed in november of 2021. while protecting a kron for news crew in oakland, all 3 men face murder charges as well as charges of attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon. >> its 606, in the east bay parents of uc berkeley students are taking matters into their own hands when it comes to keeping the kids safe on campus. so now they've hired private security guards to help michael thomas is live in the newsroom with those details morning. michael. hey, good morning, everyone. now this pilot program for private security near uc berkeley is being put together by parents and it's called safe bears. it's going to last for the next 2 weeks. >> and it's going to take place during the overnight hours, making sure that students don't fall victim of the city's crime issues. so we've got a map up on your screen. you can see where that private security is set to be placed its between the hours of 6, 30 at night until 3 in the morning. it was chosen based off of crime reports that have been done in the last 6 months. and you can see

it's a square shaped area and it's about 5 blocks long from bancroft way all the way down to dwight way. and then also along piedmont avenue. in total, there's going to be 6 security ambassadors that will wear bright colors and be assigned to different areas with one that will make rounds on a bike. they're being paid an organized by parents and say enough is enough when it comes to the area's crime rate. and the goal is to put pressure on the university's administration to get a similar program put in place. the safety ambassadors will not be armed, but they do have california guard cards and have undergone background checks. they will not carry pepper spray. they won't have batons, handcuffs or any other type of defense equipment because their purpose is simply to be a physical deterrents as roam, the area and also escort students by request from one place to another. so the pilot program will be for the next 2 weeks ending on saturday march 23rd. as of right now, parents have a goal of raising $300,000 for

it reaches the bay tomorrow afternoon, dries back out. so the key thing to note here is tomorrow morning wet for the north bay. not so much for the rest of us. we are going to be looking at a return of rainfall come sunday afternoon. so sunday starts dry. but then even more rain pushes in initially for the afternoon for the north bay and then towards the evening for the rest of us could see some heavier pockets during our overnight and early afternoon or late afternoon hours on sunday, we'll dry out into the middle of the day on monday before another system monday night into tuesday. so 3 individual rounds of rain pushing through snowfall on saturday morning. it's literally just an inch most. nothing much to worry about. will see much more significant snowfall into next week. so if you plan on spending the next week up in the sierra, that's what you're going to be looking at. additional snowfall measured in feet. as for temperatures today, today really is truly the one that you want to capitalize on venturing out. there is much as you can mid to upper 60's 4

>> so the glaring miss for me was there wasn't a conversation about how we're going to make san francisco more livable and affordable for all san francisco families. that wasn't a conversation about working families. frontline workers and how they're struggling in. the mayor mentioned teachers, nurses, firefighters, but she didn't say there's thousands of vacancies within those department. the electorate has changed. they want. leadership inside of city hall. they want someone to come in and turn our city back around. >> lori says that he didn't hear any answers. new ideas about approaches from the mayor. lori is the only person running from outside of what he calls a failed system. and while the mayor may be tired of the negativity, lurie says that he is too. >> i'm tired of the excuses and the finger pointing instead of accountable leadership and getting meaningful results. this is

family and child at the center of a civil lawsuit against this man. kevin whitmer and the san jose sharks whitner was a coach for the junior sharks. youth hockey organization last november. santa clara prosecutors charged with murder with 30 felony counts of abuse and 20 counts of possession of child. >> there was a another parent that raise concerns about how he was using his position as coach to really, you know, control the athletes in an unhealthy way. boskovich says on multiple occasions, parents reached out to complain to the sharks organization. >> about observing whitmer demonstrating disturbing behavior with young players. >> so there were a lot of red flags, some of which were raised to the organizations. some of them were kind of the open that you should expect that organization would have to tack to it if it were properly supervise and its coaches athletes. also

boskovich says that the suit alleges the organization failed to follow. >> national youth guidelines by allowing whitner to be alone with minors in the sharks. locker room. >> the unique issue to hockey and there were coaches over the years that have done similar kinda things in locker rooms. and so that's why usa hockey, but this in pkace and enforced on its clubs and this is the situation of were club just decided to ignore about a new better. >> boskovich says fundamentally the suit's goals is descend. a clear message. and this is exactly why we need these kind of rules and we need to enforce them otherwise or get other member clubs are going to have the same situation. they're handsome. >> we want to prevent that as best we can in the future. >> as for what mayor, he remains in custody, he is entered a not guilty plea in his criminal case. we reached out to the sharks organization for comment but have not received a response yet

theresa kron, 4 news. it's 6.33, on the peninsula. a man is arrested, accused of threatening to go on a killing spree. >> new tubes, san bruno campus shachar littleton, the 4th has been denied bail. he was at a hearing wednesday. the san mateo county da says that he threatened to shoot and kill multiple people at the eu to campus. he pleaded not guilty to felony charges. his preliminary hearing is march 13th. oakland police are investigating a shooting that happened between 2 motorists on interstate 90, 80 near 11th street. man was driving early thursday morning and said he felt another vehicle hit is when he was stopped. >> and then a car drove alongside and opened fire. 4 shots were fired. >> into the front right tire and the trunk. and then the gunman took off oakland.

nash. the former city manager pleaded guilty to fraud for misusing his city-issued credit card for personal expenses. he was fired in 2021 and now he's set to serve 3 months behind bars and pay the city more than $300,000 lawmakers are now calling for an ethics investigation into one of governor gavin newsom's campaign donors. panera bread franchise accused of inappropriately benefiting from an exemption to the new california minimum wage law. the law will require most fast food chains to increase minimum wage to $20 an hour by april. 1st. but there's an exemption for businesses that bacon some brent as a standalone item, which many say that includes panera. ethics chair of the investigation says there's important context behind the bread exemption. >> one of the unions organizes reason. other kinds of facilities was concerned that the area of their jurisdiction was going to be encroached upon by the bill. what was
