summer. yeah. >> recent what's going yeah. be careful what you wish for you guys because it's certainly going to feel like summer in the coming days in the bay area. let's take a look at today's daytime highs. cooling down along the coast and east bay shoreaine do write about where we should be for this time of year. but for those of you in santa rosa in the north bay, you actually warmed up into the low 80's 10 degrees above average when you should be in the low 70's this time of year. so we did see some cooling trend for most of the bay area that cooldown definitely under way along our bay area coastline, checkup, pacifica and bodega bay already in the upper 40's. but brentwood in eastern contra costa county, 20 degrees warmer at 68 degrees. yeah. flirting with 70's at this 8 o'clock hour and santa rosa. 61 degrees. 10 degrees cooler than where you were. 24 hours ago. not seeing those northerly winds. so that's why you're in the low 60's this evening compared to around this time last night we are tracking crystal clear blue skies even along the coast and

inland valleys. that trend going to continue overnight. calmer winds speeds as well. so a little bit breezy for downtown san francisco. 21 mile per sustained winds, but we're still tracking gusts upwards of 35 miles per hour. less from now through monday. so still going to get that cool. sea breeze influence and cooler temperatures monday before the heat is on by later this upcoming week. more my full forecast in just a few minutes. back to dan in a while memories and thank you. tonight, the supervisor representing the tenderloin district speaking out. >> about governor newsom's plans to bring chp and the national guard to help with the fentanyl epidemic in san francisco. the governor says the focus will be on disrupting the supply of the drug. but supervisor dean preston calls it a publicity stunt. in a statement, preston says he'd like to see the governor prioritize public health over public relations. he goes on to say there's no doubt the tenderloin urgently needs resources, which is why i'm fighting for overdose prevention sites, treatment on demand, enhance street cleaning homeless outreach, community ambassadors and

10 million dollars for emergency safety interventions for the tenderloin. i would welcome governor newsom and mayor breed support in getting these resources. now, overdose deaths in san francisco have gone down each year since peaking during the pandemic in 2020. they're on pace to go down again this year. however, according to the cdc overdose death rates overall in california and across the country to continue to rise. >> the maker of one overdose medication now wants to make it cheaper. emergent biosolutions wants to lower the price of its narcan nasal spray. the medicine can be used to reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids like fentanyl, a current wholesale carton of nar can cost about $125 and emergent wants to lower the price to about 50 bucks. the company says the price lowering will require government and stakeholder collaboration. but the final prices ultimately set by retailers. we are, of course, following the fentanyl crisis across the country and the bay

area on kron 4 dot com. you can scan this qr code which will take you to our website there. you can track the latest information and see the stories that our reporters have been working on. >> san jose police are investigating a suspected hit and run crash. it happened just after midnight near berryessa and piedmont road. you can see just how badly damaged this car was. one passenger was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 2 people were killed in a wrong-way crash in sunnyvale. this happening on highway 2.37. near mathilda avenue around 4 this morning. chp says a car went the wrong way and hit another vehicle. tonight, we're learning both drivers died in that crash. >> police say a driver headed the wrong way on i-580, and was intentionally trying to crash into other cars. this happened just after 7 o'clock this morning near seminary road in oakland. a driver was

heading east in the westbound lanes on 5.80, when it crashed into a truck owned. but the city of oakland, chp does not know where the truck entered the freeway. the reckless driver suffered major injuries. the victim suffering minor injuries. both had to be taken to the hospital for further treatment. there were a total of 4 wrong-way crashes that happened in the bay area this week. in our nation's capital, hundreds of business and political leaders from the greater state capital region are in washington, d.c., to advocate for key issues facing our state, which is all part of the 51st annual cap. the cap conference 8 on wallace is traveling with that delegation. >> he has a look at some of the priorities. attendees plan to address. >> applause and smiles today as meetings officially got underway at the annual cap to cap conference in our nation's capital, organized by the sacramento metropolitan chamber of commerce. this is the 51st year metro chamber has put on this program. we're

>> welcome back. a group of canadian tech in turns became victims of smash-and-grabs at an in-and-out parking lot happened at the restaurant on his sperry and boulevard in san leandro yesterday afternoon. the victims tell kron 4 the backpacks personal and company computers and other belongings in the trunk that were covered up with a jacket. >> when they got back, they found the back window and the side windows were smashed in, of course, all their belongings one of the students tells us that he had his passport and social security

card inside of his bag the group called 9-1-1. but they were immediately put on hold, they say, and then they were told. >> to call the non-emergency line. they say the security guard inside that in and out. >> said he didn't see the smash-and-grab but about 5 of them happened in the parking lot there each day the students decided to call that non-emergency police line they were put on hold there as well. they then headed to a local police department. it was closed. they went to another also closed. police did not arrive to the scene. they say until about 4 to 5 hours later. >> last may another group of traveling students had their belongings stolen while visiting that same in and out. the incident also happening during the day with a security guard on site. >> in oakland, police there are investigating a series of weekend shootings. one of them involving a child that shooting happened around 11 o'clock last night on birch street. 2 people were killed.

the child had to be rushed to children's hospital with gunshot wounds. a person was arrested at the scene. >> a few hours later around, 01:00am another shooting broke out this time on 91st avenue. police say 2 people were shot there. one of them now in grave condition not expected to survive. no word on a suspect in that shooting at this time and around 11 o'clock this morning, police say a person was injured in a shooting on high street near the boys and girls club. >> they're in oakland. police say the victim was later found on foothill boulevard. they were sent to the hospital and are listed in stable condition. >> take a look at this. emeryville. police sap an officer came upon this burglary in progress this morning at the med men, cannabis dispensary. you can see the suspect used a honda sedan to smash through the front door of this shop. police say nothing was taken from the store. the suspect had left the scene just before the officer made the discovery. a cluster of small

the pronouncer, but they're beautiful. and with our coffees, absolutely amazing and our local hill. so let's take a look outside right now for your sunday night. hope you enjoyed today's cool down pleasant temperatures for most of our inland valleys today. and we are tracking still that marine layer. it's been pretty stubborn along our bay area beaches, especially for half moon bay. radar for though, is tracking overall fairly clear skies compared to around this time last night. and we are tracking that clearing trend to continue all night long and even into your monday morning and afternoon. but don't let that sunshine fool. you were actually tracking cooler weather tomorrow compared to today. so temperatures out there right now because of that lack of blanket of cloud cover. 49 degrees for pacifica and bodega bay downtown san francisco, barely in the low 50's at fifty-two degrees as half moon bay in the low 50's with mid 50's. for those of you in oakland and even san jose currently at 56 degrees in starting to cool down into

the mid 50's for north bay valley, sonoma and nevado. 57 degrees for your sunday night and overnight lows tonight. going to see a lot more 40's as opposed to last night's 50's. so it is going to be chillier because of that lack of blanket of cloud cover overnight, widespread mid to upper 40's and antioch, though, the mall, the city at 52 degrees. but just barely. let's take a look at temperatures tomorrow because we are going to see widespread mid 70's for most of our north bay and east bay valleys, san jose in livermore, 72 degrees for you with oakland at 67 degrees and downtown san francisco. slightly below average at 62 degrees. taking a look ahead at the next 7 day outlook. as you could see, the warming trend is on for tuesday and it's going to get downright hot on thursday. we're going to get a little bit of a summer sizzle starting wednesday, peaking on thursday, still hanging tight on friday for the 2nd half of your workweek. and then by next weekend, gradually cooling down, but still mild, even for spring standards. but we could be on thursday, 10 to 20 degrees above average,

these other things that would be tied into this baseball ballpark. i wanted to point out that, you know, we look at the a's baseball team right now. there's not really any you know, players that you can really write home about. there's nobody that you're like no on the team that, they finished the last place in the american league last year. second to last in the league overall. yet forbes pointed out back in march of this baseball team is one of the top 5 most profitable teams in the whole sport at 62 million dollars. so they can't necessarily cried poor and the situation. and i mean, there's money to be made in oakland with this team. yeah. the force. >> thank your husband called into question by the a's. but i think is generally acknowledged they did make a profit. our mission was now john fisher bought the team in 2016 180 million. that's now worth 1.1, 8 billion and would probably sell for more. so that means that john fisher about team in 2016 and made a

profit every year. top of that, the team has gotten value more than billion dollars. maybe a billion and a half dollars. so by doing nothing by running the team in the ground by destroying fan base, he's made himself a billion dollars. >> that and may be sure that that goal been tapped out time to sell. >> well, and i i do feel like i wonder, you it's there is new ownership. and and it is possible to kind of re build all this is this kind of the only way that you think the a's. we'll for sure stay here in oakland or could potentially be are there other avenues? this is just the only one that really kind of has legs at this point. yeah, i know there are there are other avenues want do would be that. >> john fisher and he's a spokesperson. but then president, dan cow said they say, okay, we're our training a las vegas. we have a deal in place to buy the property in las vegas where we will bill

that that's not necessarily going to go ceme to fruition. that's the kind of not a lot of things happening in las vegas, including the government up there giving kind of money that could fall through john fisher and his group to come back with a's too, to oakland and say let's revisit the deal on out i'll take the for you your game. so it's possible that he could come back. i think it's more likely that he would sell. yeah, scott another. we have a lot of time left and that's what i want to just touch on this quickly. >> is your view on where dave campbell fits in all of this? because he sort of came out and made the announcement. and if new ownership was to come in, does he stay with the oakland a's of the las vegas, cesar, whatever they become or is he just do to get big payday and then, you know, go to another club or what happens? well, he is president of the team. and the team might very spot, not just that he would be not not part of the new regime. i very much

tracking mild temperatures. not just to start your monday, but we're also going to see that warming trend continuing for the 2nd half of this upcoming week in the sierras. so snow melt certainly going to be a concern. but a mild start to the week. 57 degrees for truckee and south lake tahoe. but as you can see, temperatures already going to warm up by wednesday into the low 60's for south lake tahoe. and we could even see 90's for warmest inland valleys in parts of the sierras. so just keep that in mind 10 to 15 degrees above average. temperatures expected thursday and into friday. but let's take a look at temperatures out there right now in the bay area, widespread 50's with 60. still for those of you in eastern contra costa county mid 60's, a piece for pittsburgh and brentwood. 49 degrees for pacifica and upper 40's as well for bodega bay with overnight lows. widespread 40's. but and 52 degrees and temperatures continuing with that cooling trend. still pleasant inland. conquered. 75 degrees. santa

>> visitors are scared. they're the happiest place on earth. they got more of a spectacle than they bargained for last night after the animatronic dragon caught fire during the final showing a those flames started at the dragon's head before the end goal thing. its whole body guests and cast members were evacuated from tom sawyer island as a precaution. nobody was hurt. thankfully, design officials say they're temporarily suspending similar fire effects at select shows while they investigate what happened here. >> take a look at this. some scary moments on an american airlines flight today when the plane caught fire mid air. initial reports say a possible bird strike sparked an engine fire. the plane had to make an emergency landing at john glenn international in columbus, ohio, this morning.

degrees cooler for santa rosa. so not even tracking those northerly winds are seeing winds out of that cool sea breeze influence. so that's why we're seeing that cooling trend from coastal valleys with overnight lows tonight, widespread mid to upper 40's for everyone in the bay area. with the exception of antioch, the mall, the city at 52 degrees and afternoon highs tomorrow going to continue with a slightly cooler forecast. still pleasant as you make your way inland. so santa rosa out of the 80's cooling down to 77 degrees. 62 degrees for downtown san francisco. so just a degree below average there with fremont and san jose in the low 70's to start your work week monday and then temperatures we're going to switch from spring to summer starting on wednesday. we're going to see temperatures 10 to 20 degrees above average by thursday. that's going to be peak of our mini heatwave coming up in the next couple of days. still warm even through next weekend with that cool down. stick around. more news and weather after the br
