supervisor still hoping the a's will stay in oakland kron four's philippe djegal tells us why. >> were you caught off guard? i was a little caught off guard alameda county board of supervisors president meet miley says months went by without him talking with oakland athletics. president dave carroll has miley attended to other pressing county matters but says he reached out a few days ago to check in on the team's plans to build a new ballpark at howard terminal and had no indication the a's had already signed a binding agreement to purchase land in las vegas and move the team to the desert, though he says it does not come as a complete shocked. the a's are looking at their options. we all knew there look at options so you can be. >> that was a naive enough to think if they can strike a deal, a business decision relative to what works best. >> that's for them. they would that they would strike that miley who has had a decades long relationship with the a's dating back to his time in the 90's on the oakland city

council. >> says he hopes the team city and county can part ways on good terms. if the team does eventually secure all of the financing and other requirements to build a new stadium in nevada. he would be willing to extend the a's lease at the coliseum which expires at the end of next year to make that happen. we could potentially be looking at extending their lease. >> for another 3 to 4 years, you know, would be a time of uncertainty. but we can also put in there with an option for additional year or 2, depending on whether or not these these continue to play here in oakland because of any delays or setbacks in las vegas, you just don't know what the future has in store. so i'd much rather see us continue to happen. brace and get the benefit of that as opposed to working with them and then make a decision. everybody you know, is angry. they go play somewhere else during the interim period

mostly dry into the monterey bay. you'll find some cooler temperatures. we've got some patchy fog to deal with this weekend. that's pretty typical. this time of year about 55 degrees in carmel. 54 and cool in monterey with some fog in the morning giving way to partial clearing in the afternoon. a very nice 64 degrees, though, becoming sunny in santa cruz, southern california. boy, these numbers heating up 76 and santa barbara. 83 degrees in los angeles. mona 90 degrees to start to get on the hot side there in the high country. but it will be kind of mild out there really up for this time of year. 50's in south lake tahoe. 58 degrees in trucking and then a warm 71 in reno on 70 degrees in carson city. we plan on sticking around for the weekend. looks like it will be a nice weekend to should stay dry throughout the weekend. no storms expected mostly sunny skies. temperatures hovering in the 50's right around the mid 50's most spots may be cooling down just slightly on monday, but still some nice weather ahead. looking very nice out toward the golden gate bridge out there right now. people traveling around the bay area. why not? this is going join

kind of weekend weather-wise looking good all around the state. looks like that will continue through sunday and probably well into next week. 2 guys, back to you. thank you, lawrence. >> the woman known as the law scotus party mom was in court today were current and former high school students sometimes tearfully urged to santa clara county judge to send her to prison with a maximum sentence. you're looking at shannon o'connor at an earlier hearing. she is accused of throwing secret alcohol-fueled parties for underage boys and girls pressuring them to have with each other. at today's hearing, victims told a personal stories about how they say o'connor, be friend of them through her 2 teenage sons and social media. several girls told investigators they were sexually assaulted while extremely intoxicated. and while o'connor watched new at 6 tonight, amusement parks are places where people of all ages go to have fun. but across the country, many theme parks are. >> gaining an unwanted

reputation for teenage brawls temporarily turning the family-friendly playgrounds into an safe havens of violence and chaos. nancy loo reports from knott's berry farm in orange county. >> it is all fun and amusement until it's not the past few years have brought a flurry of fight videos inside theme parks, big and small. this fight in kansas city included hair pulling and kicking 3 minute she got kicked in. our faces hit. so i'm very blessed to say that she is still here. knott's berry farm first imposed it, shep around policy last summer after a violent incident that left 2 people injured and forced the park to close early disney unveiled a courtesy warning just a few months ago urging park goers to treat others with respect, kindness and compassion. shep, around policies are also kicking in this weekend. it other theme parks across the country, including great america and adults will be

allowed to chaperone more than 10 miners. one california incident this week turned deadly. that was less than expected to be involved in anything like that. we know seconds it took us all by surprise. there a great kid. 10 year-old anthony duran died after a fight between kids at a trampoline park in merced said police have been screening surveillance images from rockin jump. we just want justice for anthony. we don't know what happened. we want answers. >> still ahead, we're going to check in on what both democrats and republicans are doing in the early stages of the 2024 preside

>> a coalition of more than 60 progressive grassroots groups claiming to represent more than 100,000 californians of sent a letter to senator dianne feinstein asking her to resign. the groups argue that her extended absences held up president biden's agenda. einstein's announced she will not run for reelection, has missed senate votes since being diagnosed with shingles in february. her absence is being felt especially on the senate judiciary committee, which remains deadlocked without her vote. kron 4 is your election headquarters with the 2024 presidential election looming. >> president biden is expected to make his reelection bid official find land that could happen as soon as next week that says his republican rivals are jockeying for

position. reporter hannah brandt has the latest. >> the 2024 presidential election is still a long way off. but campaigning is already in full swing. we have more to do what we meant. a lot of progress for months. president biden has dropped hints about running for reelection and he's expected to officially launch his campaign next week. there's of always significance when the sitting president announces for reelection that doesn't make it surprising. news nation political editor chris says once president biden does announce the thermometer. >> for warm or cool democrats feel toward him will get good sense of that. on the republican side, florida governor ron desantis also hasn't officially announced he's running, but he spent the week meeting with lawmakers in dc and touting his political record. we deliver big victories every single day. >> we rejected the culture of losing that has infected the republican party. in recent years, though, several of the

jumping around having a good time. it is going to be a great time to boost park in san francisco, starting at 11:00am watch out for a couple of patches of fog out there. they are going to have a best dress costume contest. of course, look at the best tale best dog. all kinds of different contests. just a lot of fun to get out there with your pets and enjoy will be a little bit on the cool side. hey, celebrating. those are fishermen in bodega bay. they've got the 50th annual fisherman's festival in the day. a bay. it will be cool and cloudy, but that's kind of just the way it should be out there. of course, they're gonna have some clam chowder. a lot of fish out there to enjoy all those festivities and enjoy that time out there. if you want to take a look at the birds before you go out, that might be a fun thing to do as well. hey, how about this? they have in the mini milpitas night markets doesn't sound like seth small, though they're going to have as many as 30 vendors out there, all kinds of different food and drinks to enjoy if you want to head on out, it actually starts at 1 o'clock in the afternoon on saturday, continuing until 10 o'clock at
