>> from the bay area's local news station. you're watching kron. 4 news at 6. >> at 6, the country bracing for what will be an unprecedented court appearance as former president trump is expected to surrender to the manhattan district attorney tuesday over accusations of hush money payments to adult film. actress stormy daniels. thanks for joining us for kron. 4 news at 6. i'm ken wayne and i'm catherine heenan. we know more now about the charges trump is facing after the alleged hush money payments. he will reportedly face charges of falsifying business records, including at least one felony offense. court officials say he will be formally arrested and arraigned on tuesday. the indictment against him remain sealed. the specific charges were not immediately disclosed, but some details were confirmed by people who requested anonymity to discuss details that aren't yet

fall. herron reporting live for us in new york city. thank you, >> and the woman at the center of that investigation, adult film actress stormy daniels was reportedly surprised by the indictment a few weeks ago. she said she would, quote, danced down the street to the former president was indicted, but her attorney says she does not actually feel like dancing at all. he claims she feels bad. trump was charged hard to follow the truth here, however, because daniels tweeted after the indictment that she couldn't personally respond to all of her supporters because she didn't want to spill her champagne and she's claiming that orders for team stormy or merchandise are pouring in. >> back here home other news tonight, san jose police officers association employee who is accused of attempting to unlawfully import fentanyl is facing 20 years in a federal prison if she's convicted. joanne suh go be a. she made her first appearance in federal court today.

undergo alcohol and drug testing and substance abuse treatment. segovia didn't have to put up any bond is part of her release. she's due back in court on april 28th. >> at the federal courthouse in san jose. dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> other news tonight, benicia police are warning community members about a dangrrous activity that they think high school students plan to do tonight. it's a catch and release game and it's called. let me grab it. older students capture younger students in venetian and drop them off at random place against their will. the games name comes from a slang term used for u.s. immigration and customs enforcement. the benicia unified school district put out a warning saying the game is not only dangerous but it's inappropriate racist and offensive. the activity is not sanctioned by this city or the school district. benicia police said that they will have extra officers on duty tonight and will be on the lookout. >> time for a look at the forecast as we look live at

the bay bridge toll plaza looking pretty much the way it does on friday evening. friday's people go to the city, lawrence, especially when it's nice and sunny and clear for a change. but looking forward to some dry weather now getting it outside tonight. and what a beautiful evening. it's going to be. certainly it's colder than it usually is that this time of year. but hey, it's dry. we'll take that. that's for sure. out of the golden gate bridge looking good. little busy, though, out there on the bridge tonight. people coming and going and enjoying that sunshine and well, just a gorgeous evening all around. 58 degrees right now in san jose. just 58 in livermore. 55 degrees in san francisco and 55 degrees. also in santa rosa winds. they've been kicking up a little bit little breeze out there, not as strong as yesterday. i think winds will be more of an issue, especially as we head into monday of next week. but more of a gentle breeze out there right now. and there is well, another of that's approaching the coastline. you can see it right there. we don't have a ridge of high pressure dominating our weather right now. so that's allowing some

of these clouds to filter into our skies as we head toward tomorrow, there's still a slight chance of a sprinkle both saturday and sunday, mainly in the north bay. but overall, nothing that should ruin your plans. get out there and enjoy just grab a jacket. temperatures, good rain. a little cool around the bay area. >> thank you, lawrence. well, the fact a pedestrian bridge was destroyed and sam leandro, this happened during the recent storms. it's forcing residents and schoolchildren to find detours. the almost 60 year-old structure will need a lot of repair. crews also need things to dry out for strong forcefully to call has the story. >> san leandro mayor juan gonzalez says the city and san leandro unified school district's first priority is to get the area between kerry drive and haas avenue cleaned up first. >> before considering short-term solutions to replace the pedestrian bridge over san leandro creek leveled by a giant eucalyptus tree on march. 21st to give school

>> san francisco is launching a new program to try to help fight the opioid crisis. starting tomorrow, emergency responders will be able to start administering a drug. >> called to prove your feet. and the department of public health says it is the most effective treatment for opioid use disorder. >> kron four's rob nesbitt, talk with experts about how it's going to be used. >> health experts say the buprenorphine also known as the bucs own reduces the risk of an overdose death by to the san francisco paramedics will have on hand starting april

1st, san francisco has a number of initiatives to combat the opioid crisis in the newly-launched buprenorphine program is part of that. doctor. hillary clinton says the director of behavioral health services in san francisco and she explain how the drugs effects work similarly to methadone to help a person not experience withdrawal if they have an opioid addiction >> reduce or stop cravings for the illicit substance. and for that reason, both are highly successful in supporting a person in the recovery for years. buprenorphine prescriptions were heavily regulated. but last year, president biden relax those federal regulations starting saturday, emergency responders with the san francisco fire department will be able to administer the drug to those struggling with addiction section. chief michael mason with the community paramedicine division says his staff is trained and ready after someone is given narcan. feel very there have what we call precipitated withdrawal. and that's a very short window. and that's the window

where some box could be useful for many people, it would help them feel better. it would help manager withdrawal symptoms and allow them to accept that cycle. i reached out to the national harm reduction coalition about the new program in san francisco. >> acting director laura guzman says treatment expansion is important as long as it's done in a culturally appropriate manner. we want to make sure that. >> you know, that the 2 men that says is a concealer. how are people are educated about it and also how they're treated when they enter the emergency room. doctor cullen says buprenorphine will also be more available at primary care clinics, hospitals and pharmacies. >> reporting in the newsroom. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> in the east bay, police say they arrested 2 people in connection to a shooting that killed 2 teenage brothers. oakland police say angel in jay z sotelo garcia were shot and killed in october last year. all attending a birthday party. they say the shooting was related to a conflict that might have started at school. they say the situation was not

gang-related. the department has not released any information about who they arrested and they say they plan to give an update early next week. >> and pacific on 17 year-old girl and a woman have been arrested and accused of robbing a grocery store. police identified the woman as know lazy award. they say that she and the teenager were involved in a robbery at the fairmont shopping center and they are accused of assaulting an employee before leaving. investigators say they stole about $1400 worth of merchandise which was found in the car. police say the teenager was released to a parent. developing news out of arkansas. a tornado raced through little rock and surrounding areas today. >> it tore first through neighborhoods in the west side of the city, shredding a small shopping center. the tornado then crossed the arkansas river into north little rock and surrounding areas where widespread damage was reported to homes, businesses and vehicles. the city's main

trauma center said it expecting at least 20 patients. a tornado emergency has been declared for that area. president biden and the first lady met today with victims of the mississippi tornado that killed 21 people and caused. >> widespread destruction. the president says the federal government will cover the cost of the state's emergency measures for the next 30 days. fema is opening disaster recovery centers to make it easier for people to get help. roughly 300 homes and businesses were destroyed last week. hundreds of others were damaged in alabama. one person was killed. >> reason for them have. with specially people last night. we've got a bunch of these >> the disaster declaration frees up federal money for things like temporary housing, home repairs and loans to cover uninsured property losses. kron 4 chief

meteorologist lawrence karnow joins us now how things are looking out there. yeah, it's going to be a rough night ahead here. very scary. whether this is that time of year where really much more of an impact on parts of the central parts of the country. and so. >> tonight, the things are really going right now. we saw picking up in the afternoon worried about this and looks like things have turned out to be as forecast. severe weather breaking out this a very large system. you can see all the way up in the northern plains, the center of the low, then all the way down to the south. we've got the watches and warnings in yellow here in red, stretching all the way up from texas up in the chicago. so that's a large weather system that's rolling through right now. reports of tornadoes coming down yet the hail in there as well. and really just some scary weather. thunderstorms erupting all along frontal boundary year got some very cold air in the 30's behind it. we've got some 70's out ahead of it. and that's when you start to see these very dangerous storms out there right now. you can see the little heard some terrible reports of a this possibly just a causing catastrophic

damage, almost cutting the city in half there as the system rolled on through. but you can see not only there, but you see the pop-up reports of tornadoes all along this boundary. you fall that thunderstorm and there you go. you see all the activity. it cause with that as well. so still going out there tonight, we still got some places under tornado warnings. get a germantown. they're still looking at a possibility of tornado coming down there. they're getting some signatures there in the doppler radar showing a bit of a hook echo. also further to the north, we're looking at more tornado warnings in those areas as well. and then even northward. you've got more of that activity continuing along this boundary. so this is going to be scary night ahead. i think tomorrow again, we could be talking about some more severe weather along this line. but that's going to play out through the season and we do not reach peak tornado season until the middle of may. so we've got a long to go. yeah, thank you, lawrence. well, the state legislature is on spring break. governor newsom is taking a trip to kick off a new political project. he's traveling to republican led states.

>> it's all part of what he calls the campaign for democracy. and this is a political action committee is focused on pushing back against conservative policies and supporting democratic candidates in red states. karma dickerson reports. >> we're going on the road to take the fight to states where freedom is most under attack. and the launch video for his new political action committee. california governor gavin newsom is targeting republican policies around abortion, education, guns, immigration and gender identity, specifically focusing on governors of florida, texas, arkansas mississippi. those are some of the same states with the newsom. campaign announced billboard last year promoting california has an abortion safe haven saying no red state is off limits. the stated goal the pack is to promote democratic policies in the 2024 election blue states have lower murder rates. >> better health care outcomes and higher gp's. that pack launch follows the governor's recent pattern of celebrating policies of democratic states and sharply criticizing the
