carlyle avenue in santa clara on october 12th. police say there was a loud verbal dispute between foster and elissa ennis. the report says ennis told police the fight was not physical-- and foster declined to make a statement. just yesterday-- ennis spoke to kron 4. she says foster was responsible for abusing her ... and she shared photos of the alleged abuse. she also claims the 49ers stepped in to talk with police ... before they spoke with her. ennis admits she recanted the first time she accused foster of abuse. but says blames the battered woman syndrome. the 49ers say they fully cooperated with authorities,

(catherine) developing news tonight... kaiser permanente mental health care workers are just days away from walking off the job and onto the picket line -- for a five day statewide strike.(justine) kron 4's maureen kelly reports that the union claims the h-m-o's mental health services division is chronically understaffed. and it's affecting patient care. i'm out in front of the kaiser permanente hospital in south san francisco....one of 21 northern california medical centers that will be affected in this weeklong labor action ....on the picket line....psychologists, therapists, social workers and psychiatric nurses. this video is from a strike in 2012 over a similar issue....underst affingthe union says they are to boost staffing...and that's

tonight. new details are emerging in the deadly mass shooting in thousand oaks. officials now say the deputy killed was shot by "friendly fire". last month a gunman opened fire at the borderline bar and grill in southern california killing 11 people. the gunman shot at sergeant ron helus five times... but it turns out that he died from a bullet that was fired by a c-h-p officer who joined him in the gun battle. helus was among 12 people killed. gunman ian long took his own life. investigators still don't know the motive.. into a crowd of counter- protesters at a white nationalist rally in virginia has been convicted of first-degree murder. 21-year-old james fields now faces life in prison. prosecutors said he drove his car directly into a crowd at the "unite the right" rally in charlottesville in august of last year-- killing heather heyer. they say he did it because he was angry after witnessing earlier violent clashes between the two sides. fields' lawyers told the jury he feared for his life after witnessing the violence-- and tried to argue self defense. the sentencing hearing begins on monday. at san jose state university are frustrated with the growing homeless problem on campus. they continued their protest overnight-- kron 4's sara stinson has the details.

now this is the 13th year students have done this poverty under the stars event. usually it is to raise awareness about the homeless issue in santa clara county, but this year they are concentrating their efforts on the students that are homeless who are sleeping in the library, in their cars and nearby shelters.13 percent of students - thats four thousand students.now they are calling on the unversity's preident to accomodate the homeless with safe places to park and sleep in the dorm put forth very reasonable requests.">professor and homeless alliance advisor scott myers-lipton pitched a tent with the students and describes the awful conditions. the professor sa tha education.

be fatal. kron 4's will tran has the story from lafayette... warning to dog owners and people who like picking wild mushrooms in the east bay. with the recent rainfall, two types of potentially deadly mushrooms are popping up again. east bay regional park district says the death cap and the western destroying angel mushrooms are growing. last year, 14 people were poisoned. three people needed liver transplants. keep an eye on your dog if you're walking it because consuming them could kill your pet. if you're thinking about taking mushrooms from the park to cook at home, don't! it's illegal to do that and can possibly kill you because they could be poisonous. the world health organization traffic now the leading cause of death for children and young people around the world. the new report says the number of worldwide traffic-related deaths reached a high of one-point-35 million in 2016. people in low-income countries have a risk three times higher than high-income countries. the highest death rates are in africa and southeast asia -- the lowest are in the americas and europe. the report says that progress has been made in certain areas, like legislation-- but not fast enough to meet the u-n goal to cut road traffic deaths in half before 20-20.before 20-20. "frankly, it was the last thing i had in my mind when i went in to operate on what i thought was a typical brain tumor."dr. charles cobbs is a neurosurgeon at swedish medical center.he operated on a 69 year-old woman who was suffering from seizures. he removed a brain tumor that was the size of a dime and sent a sample to a pathologist at johns hopkins for a second opinion.dr. charles cobbs/neurosurgeon"he thought it looked suspicious for amoeba infection. i was pretty much shocked because i'd never seen that before."the woman's condition quickly worsened, and when he did a second surgery.dr. charles cobbs/neurosurgeon"it had grown from about dime sized to about the size of a baseball at that point."he said amoeba eat brain tissue.the woman told doctors she used a neti pot on a regular basis.dr. charles cobbs/neurosurgeon"she had not been boiling water or using sterile water or using sterile saline. she had been using water that had been put through a filter and maybe it had been sitting there and somehow the amoeba from somewhere else got in there. so that's what we suspect is the source of the infection." there are warnings on the package of a neti pot.it says "do not use with tap water".we found this video of how to use a neti pot on youtube---natsot "standing in front of a sink, bend forward comfortably and tilt your head down."you can see how it flushes out nasal
