7:06 am
highway patrol said there is an accident that is likely blocking most if not all of the northbound lanes. this is the non commute direction but we are getting reports that it is impacting southbound traffic. the reason he did not seymour red or yellow on the map is the density of sensors here is spotty pith the report of an accident northbound. we just got this from the california highway patrol. it is right about here. it could be affecting the rights coming out past the dumbarton bridge and also affecting the commute direction which is interstate 880 south ounce. this is just a first look or puree will keep you apprised of any additional information as we get it.

7:15 am
>>george: the accident in fremont has indeed become a hot spot. a sig alert has been issued by the california highway patrol. when they do that, they believe that one or more lanes will be blocked for 30 or more minutes. even though this occurred in the non commute direction it is having an impact on the southbound right. for the location of the accident is here northbound at toccoa road which is just before the turn off for the dumbarton bridge. the southbound ride, because of
7:16 am
onlookers is backed up solidly towards hayward. we do not usually cds much red on the road sensors southbound although it is not unusual to see slow traffic read. speeds have definitely dropped in the northbound right. there are only two lanes available. the left lanes it right lanes are blocked by a multi vehicle accident. there are also injuries reported. it is likely that it could take a while to clear. again delays here. that will add about 12 minutes to the drive time on highway 80 in the southbound direction. if you normally commute on 880 southbound, you'll find that it will not be that much longer to get from san leandro to milipitas because the rest of the freeway is so light. how the northbound lanes are the ones that are blocked. this will affect your ride on the dumbarton.

7:22 am
percent less. here's a look at what that could mean. if congress had a one-year payroll tax cut its payroll taxes from 2 percent down to 4.2%. if they cannot come up with an agreement the senate passed a two month extension, the house of representatives refuses to even vote on it. they say they want a full one-year extension. >>erica: people are obviously he did it sound off on our facebook fan page. i asked viewers what they thought of the payroll tax cut and what the money meant to them. take a look at some of the responses coming in. here is what one dealer said. if the >>erica: here is what denise says. >>erica: those are some of the mild comments coming in.

7:26 am
7:27 am
>>george: the accident is involving a chp motorcycle accident. lanes 1, 2 and 3 are blocked. it is likely that this could mean a lengthy investigation. traffic could be tied up for a while. it is the northbound at decoder road. there are no good alternates sadly. if southbound traffic in the commute direction is backing up pretty badly. more on the kron4 news returns.

7:29 am
>>mark: thousands of nurses around the bay area started a one day strike at eight
7:30 am
setter hospitals. will tran is live in oakland. >>will: instead of going to work the nurses are in front. they will be here for the next day. they want to return to work tomorrow the hospital plans to lock them out. they will not officially be back at work until saturday. the reason why is there burning in replacement workers to fill in their shift. if you are a patient here, the nurses are saying the you should be afraid because they claim the nurses are not as qualified and they are unfamiliar with the system. from this is highlighted by what happened in september when one of the replacement nurses allegedly gave a non prescribes medication to a cancer patient and the patient ended up dying. we are still hoping to talk to the spokesperson at summit medical center, she has yet to come out and give us her response to all of this. the nurses are still fighting over many things including

7:32 am
decoder wrote in fremont. this is where there was a multi vehicle accident involving azt officer, a motorcycle unit was involved in this crash. there were injuries sustained to the driver but normally that means a lengthy investigation. they have managed to get all of the lanes of freeway opened. they have moved to the investigation to the shoulder of the road. traffic is still sluggish southbound. with lanes opening up we could see big improvements for the northbound right. again northbound is not typically the commute direction it is the southbound side of the freeway in the morning that is much heavier. traffic is slow leading down from hayward into newark and union city. that is a typical commute on a normal day. of course, this is a lighter than normal day.
7:33 am
this sig alert has now been cancelled. >>george: here is a good check on the bridges. on the bay bridge, very light traffic and no delays. the metering lights have not yet been activated. your ride on the sanity of bridge is still a pretty good one with no problems. no need to consider this as an alternate any longer. you'll have an easier time getting south from hayward to the dumbarton. on the golden gate you will find it easy ride with lighter than usual traffic especially in the southbound direction. time for a check on the web with james fletcher. thefts >>james: clear skies and warmer morning temperatures than we have seen in a
