recall? how pamela price plans to make her case to east bay voters once again. wrecking news on wall street. for the first time the dow crossed the 40,000 threshold this morning. it is thanks to yesterday's inflation report. the bureau of labour statistics showed prices rose at 0.3%. it is a slower pace in the two months prior. the blue-chip index was up 114 percent. trading around 40,022 this morning, holding steady in the 40,000 mark. this is where the markets are right now but we will continue following this. this is something that could be a good indicator about how the markets respond to data and reporting and we will have a full wrap up at 3:00. uc berkeley, a group of protesters have taken over a condemned building. it happened

overnight and you are seeing what the scene looks like right now at the alumni hall. the university claims that what you see on screen are a group of activists that are separate from the free palestine encampments that lasted for weeks and disbanded yesterday. we are shown what the situation looks like this morning. >> reporter: we are about a black a week -- block away , they are keeping everyone from getting inside. we can see a better look at the setup at this particular location as there are plenty of tents, signs, and flags surrounding this abandoned building. around 20 people set up on the lawn of this turned out building on campus overnight. it is the alumni hall. we have noticed people going through a door at this location. the university says these appear to be peoples park protesters and it is the 55th anniversary of a major protest that happened at that park. all of this coming as the

uc berkeley campus related to the pro-palestinian protests came to an agreement with the university tuesday. the school saying they will look into invest to see if they align with the university's values. the chancellor is saying she will personally call for a cease-fire in gaza. this morning we have been here at this location monitoring ration and tried to speak to the situations outside of those tents. they said they did not want to speak on camera and could not provide with a statement. you notice there are palestinian flags and messages of support for the cause, as well as those criticizing israel. classes are out at uc irvine after protesters clash with riot police. uc irvine

canceled all classes yesterday because they are angry that they were worried that they suspended protesters who were on a negotiation team. hundreds of protesters rallied outside the school and faced off with riot police. they did not articulate how the violence is defined. protesters wanting the attention of regents. inside those meetings they are debating whether professors and staff should be barred to post their own views on the war on garza -- gaza. face congressional pressure to set boundaries, appear to represent the official stanford we are monitoring and encampment in san francisco were ceremonies for graduation happened. a deadline has come and gone. protesters say they are not moving. administrators say

they're not planning to move them by force but warned they could face academic replica additions -- repercussions. mike lee was put on leave after an agreement he made with protesters on campus. csu chancellor said he made the announcement in an email and did it without approval. the move is under review while he remains on leave. we are getting response from the jewish caucus, they support the suspension saying that it leads -- his endorsement was . he was unfit to lead the university. for continuing coverage on the bay area encampments and protests and the ripple effects down close to los angeles, stay with us on air and online. we stream 24/7 on our news at.

happy thursday. what do you have planned? it is a cool cloudy day along the coastline with daytime high sitting in the 50s and 60s near san francisco. half moon bay, pacifica. it clears up more in land. concord, to napa, are topping off to the upper 60s and 70s. a beautiful day. we have seen the forecast all week long with day-to-day changes . around the corner going into the weekend we will have high pressure moving in, the warm effect into the 80s throughout the inland areas. now we are sitting at the upper 70s. we are close to that in san jose. not only will we see 80s plenty of sunshine as early as saturday, and a sunday. a beautiful weekend coming . the concorde fair or if you're feeling daring of for an adventure. we will see

upper 60s are sunday in time , turning to low 70s next week. partly cloudy skies along the coast in the bay. let's talk about what is happening in alemannic -- alameda county. to get her name on a recall ballot. here is her response. >> the people of this county have the right to elect a district attorney. they did that. we should not have to do it again. but, we will. we will do it again. she won her seat with 53%, fair and square. a group of people angry with her decisions in high profile cases. once they got the signatures and recertified, supervisors chose to add the recall to the

november ballot instead of calling an expensive special election. we will watch that closely. settled with the family of angela for $7.5 million. he died while in police custody in 2020. 30 years old, restrained during a mental health emergency. his death was ruled as excited delirium. the diagnosis since has been banned

attention to people in jude -- injured or killed. they took part in the of silence. talked to one survivor of a horrific hit and run who said the people who lost their lives on bicycles in our community deserve to be remembered. >> reporter: alex is embracing her second chance at life. >> i am super grateful that my friend paul did not have to make a ghost bike for me. >> reporter: she was hit from behind while stopped at a red light. as a result she suffered a traumatic brain injury. >> i luckily do not have memories of the accident at all. >> reporter: the accident also wiped out a years worth of memories from her life. she has physical scars from her injuries. >> i headed tracheotomy and a

feeding tube. i still have pain from the feeding tube. even though it has been gone for two years. in this right of silence is a way to honor the victims. it has seven stops where bikers lost their lives. every victim since 1997 is remembered. >> this was someone's daughter, a son, a pedicab operator. >> reporter: paul is considered the unofficial bike mayor of san francisco and helped organize the event. there is one day he will always remember when two people were killed on their bikes just hours apart. >> i will never forget that day, how painful that was for me and our community. we did not know why it happened? >> reporter: one of the stops was here at third and mission bay. they were killed in 2017. every year his mother comes out to greet the riders. >> i am grateful. this is to
