testimony. of stormy daniels in the case. and oakland's newest baseball team is less than a month away from its home opener. the major announcement by the ballers and our partnership with kpx this morning. so let's get to that. developing news out of the middle east. the israeli strikes to root out hamas in rafah have begun. israel's war cabinet voted unanimously to continue its campaign in rafah after dropping leaflets with warnings to citizens to evacuate and telling them where to go. video this morning showing explosions in rafah as news outlets report israel has captured the gaza side of the rafah border crossing. following targeted airstrikes against hamas targets. now it's a ground game tanks are on the role, so egyptian officials say the operations appear limited in scope. although there are casualties. report on both sides. this comes after what was really a confusing set of headlines yesterday, hamas released a statement announcing that they agreed to a ceasefire brokered by the egyptians. and there was the other side of

that coin. israeli officials said what hamas agreed to and what israel demands are just too far off. there was reaction is you just saw on both sides of the war lines in gaza? you saw people cheering at hearing of an agreement. in israel families of hostages, and there are more than 100 held by hamas this morning. they rallied their leaders to accept ceasefire terms, so that people could walk free the proposed deal, so let's drill down on what that would be. it would include swapping israeli hostages for palestinians. in israel. and take those out of those israeli jails. it would also displays that take gazans who are displaced and get them home with no restrictions in the end, no deal and the fighting continues this morning as israel sends a delegation to egypt to continue talks today, so let's come home to the bay area and talk about that. there's a war of words. and word of a negotiation process between protesters in san francisco state university officials our council third reports school administrators actually say there's hope when they meet and communicate and dialogue with protesters face to face watch.

palestinian people in gaza. >>president mahoney promised to work with student protesters. out exactly what it would look like saying she was willing to meet with representatives as soon as possible. herbal and work with them to meet some of these demands. >>in the end, president mahoney and the student protesters left the conversation, to be continued. both sides seemed happy with that result. >

bodega bay but down into the santa clara valley, we go a little bit lighter winds there with daytime highs topping off in the 70s throughout this afternoon. hey, let's take a quick look at what we're expecting throughout the next 7 days. high pressure is moving its way in, and that doesn't really mean too much to you unless you know what it's going to do to us. we're expecting upper 80s lower 90s in the forecast throughout our inland areas by thursday and friday, so a little bit of a heat risk as we head into this week's forecast. luckily, we cool down fast as we head into early next week, but we still need to prepare for thursday and friday. that's right around the corner, and we noticed that warmup for our friends along the bay to closer to oakland and san francisco. we go 60s quickly turning into 70s by tomorrow, and then we hit the 80s into thursday's forecast. it will be a beautiful day to head out to the parks, maybe head out to a new trail or head out to the coast, for that matter, and then once we head into this weekend, we'll see partly cloudy skies return along the peninsula. >reed>all right. this just in and this is history, making after 114 years of being the boy scouts of america. the

organization is now changing its name just scouting america. the organization says they are pushing towards more inclusion after decades of turmoil involving sexual abuse claims and claiming that it's not inclusive. in recent years, the boy scouts have made moves. allowing gay youth and women to participate in fact, in 2021, there were nearly 1000 young women in the inaugural class of female eagle scouts. that's the highest rank in the organization. and i recently had a chance to attend the very large bay area council of eagle scouts awards. ceremony and i saw many young ladies who have earned that rank. so a new name. scouting america. service in your communities. and we'll have a lot more on this story in future editions of cbs bay area. now at this morning, top stories day 13 of donald trump's hush money criminal trial is underway in new york city. adult film star stormy daniels is expected to take the stand. you know, this comes a day after testimony from 2 witnesses from the trump

organization's accounting. department. they laid out in detail the documents the prosecutors say, make up the 34 charges of falsifying business. records against trump. prosecutors say the documents show the reimbursement. to former trump lawyer michael cohen after co in front of that $130,000. to daniel's shortly before the 2016 election. the money was allegedly paid to keep stormy daniels quiet about her alleged affair with donald trump. donald trump continues to deny ever having an affair with stormy daniels. coming home to the bay area back in court today, david cpap. he's of course, the man convicted of attacking paul pelosi. the husband of former house speaker nancy pelosi. d pop will be in court again today. this is perhaps state trial following the 2022 attack. keep in mind. the judge already convicted him last year in his federal trial. he's awaiting sentencing on that 1. jury selection for the perhaps state trial, scheduled to begin may 22nd. but the federal women's prison in dublin is now clear of all inmates weeks after the feds announced that they are closing
