now at 5:00, chaos breaks out and police crack down in a sudden show of force in an oakland sideshow. a number of

people end up in handcuffs. two people killed in old town napa. we have reaction from neighbors. and at least a bit of sunshine be around for a while? we've got the back-to-work forecast in just a few minutes. live from the cbs studios in san francisco. a night of sideshow violence in oakland with gunshots and cars on fire. residents say what is different this time it all ended with a big response from police. they will block the site participants and spectators. one of them ran into the responding police car. da lin's got the story. >> reporter: from west oakland to east oakland. sideshow participants took over at least six major intersections early sunday morning. oakland police say people spun donuts, fired shots into the air, even set a couple of cars on fire. some of the participants even mocked parents with this sign that reads drive like your kids

live here. but the real fireworks happened at the intersection of high street and foothill boulevard around 4:30 a.m. as drivers were burning tires and laughing at the cops, dozens and dozens of oakland police were coordinating, blocking off all the escape routes. it all unfolded in front of the neighbor, debbie wilson's house. >> i applaud them. they need to keep them in there. >> reporter: the monthly side show hurt their health as she recently had a stroke. >> and i have been having strokes and seizures. so this kind of chaos, i don't need around me. it terrorizes me and scares me. >> reporter: as some drivers found a narrow pathway out of the blockades. oakland police used the patrol cars to block that route. a short time later, one driver drove a white infiniti into two police cars

to leave the area. he wasn't done. that driver returned to challenge the officers. one officer appeared to fire some kind of projectile to scare the driver away. other participants tried to leave, but didn't get very far. our cameras showed officers arresting some of the drivers. they also impounded a number of cars. >> make them pay. and make them pay. >> what impresses me, they not only came, but those in the middle of the sideshows and they arrested other people. >> reporter: the councilman says they dispersed the large crowds and let them go. neighbors asked why the cops can't block them in and impound their cars every time. the response i get, well, we don't have enough officers. well, we don't have, you know, enough money in overtime to pay

for officers to be here. >> reporter: some of the participants set two cars on fire. it could be very dangerous, especially when they are outnumbered by the large crowds. those are likely stolen cars. as for debbie, she wants the city to do more to shut down the sideshows. >> and they are from the south as they want to shoot to find somebody and to send them to the army to give them the ultimatum. >> that they would worry about retaliation, but they say ms debbie wilson spoke their mind. they would add one more thing saying that the cops cannot arrest their way out of the problem. that the parents, they will have to do a better job to get more involved with these young people. >> they have not elited the number of citations yet. out in napa that happened along the river where police responded to reports of a shooting around 8:00 this morning. one woman

dead at the scene. the other taken to the hospital and later died. john ramos talked to witnesses. >> reporter: tay believe what happened here is a part of a growing trend of people settling verbal disputes with deadly violence. >> this is our safe space and our home. to find out that it happened here was really shocking. >> reporter: at 8:00 on saturday night. police responded to the 400 block of riverside drive. there they found two people lying in the streets near the clubhouse for the local organization. she was working on the car across the street and says they first heard people arguing, followed by a number of loud pops. >> and right after the shots, you'll see the person just sprint, you know, with everything they got and into a car that was parked right on the corner and slowly drives by

it. when that happened, they took off. we see that this person has got a couple of shots in them and i try to check out that person to see if they are okay. but yeah, they were not okay. >> reporter: the two victims were both young women. one was deceased at the scene and the other reportedly died at the hospital. that's all police will say so far. but those who live in the riverside drive area say it feels like things are changing for their neighborhood and their idealic little town. >> it just kind of sucks to see our super calm town, you know, kind of do this. everyone as a kid, you never had to worry about none of this. now it's slowly popping up everywhere. >> right now, you never know what's going on, you know, when you're running around the streets like that. it is everywhere, guns are everywhere. and it is a beautiful place to raise a family, but they are everywhere no matter where they are in every city. >> i don't know why, but

something has changed here in town, and people are just getting more and more violent. and more and more willing to do stupid things that cause people to lose their lives. what is happening to our town? i just don't know. i don't know what makes people spring to violence so quick. >> reporter: some blame an increase in gang activity. a problem recently plaguing schools in santa rosa as well. police are not saying if they were gang related. but regardless of place, it's becoming common for people to respond to the insult with deadly force. >> reporter: turned over to the investigation team, asking somebody with information to get in touch with them. an apartment fire left one

person at home tonight inside the road. crews say that neighbors, they fought the blaze with extinguishers until they arrived. the family wasn't home at the time and no one was hurt. >> four people rescued in san francisco after their boat capsized that happened three miles off ocean beach early this morning. video shows the 32-foot vessel that flipped over. they were taken to a hospital for evaluations and are reported to be in stable condition. if you are trying to san francisco's cherry blossom festival tonight. be aware that caltrans has reduced service for the day. the train service is minimized in order to make progress on the electrification progress. four trains in three southbound ones will be replaced by the bus shuttles. they are also canceled as they say to take alternatives, the same closured are planned for next weekend.

now to the middle east where israel is weighing how to respond the day after they launched drones and missiles directly towards israel in a historic attack. they say most of the weapons were intercepted. cristian benavides has the story. >> reporter: new video released by israeli defense forces will show how they intercepted drones and missiles headed towards israel. in all 99% of weapons were intercepted by israel, the united kingdom, jordan as they lit up the night sky. >> iran launched approximately 350 suicide drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles and rockets from iran, iraq, yemen, and hezbollah, and lebanon. >> look at the size and the scale and the scope of what they fired at israel from iran proper. more than 300 missiles and drones. they wanted to cause question, no doubt about it. but they were successful in doing so.

>> reporter: following the attack, they held a phone call with prime minister netanyahu. cbs news learned biden told netanyahu that the u.s. would not participate in a reprisal strike on iran. >> the president made it clear we're not looking for a war on iran or a broader regional conflict. everything that we have been doing since the 7th has been designed to present that outcome. >> reporter: they met with other leaders via teleconference on sunday over their unprecedented attack, which is in response to the israeli air strike to iran's embassy in syria. under increasing pressure over israel's response to gaza on the october 7 attack and hoping to avoid escalation to a wider regional conflict. a cbs new poll prior to the iranian strikes, show 33% of americans approve the handling of the conflict. >> they wrote on social media that they don't plan on any further attacks and warn the u.s. not to get involved. back

francisco city hall and continued down market street honoring the culture. through music, craft, arts, and dance. oh, look at that beautiful day down there on the south bay. and where people were enjoying a little promenade along the margins of the bay down there. and they did enjoy the dry weather, the sunshine, the windy weather as well. and all prospects for sunshine to continue this week as the few showers that we would have yesterday are now drying up. just a few residual showers on the kpix high-def doppler tonight. aside from that, things will be looking sunnier and warmer to the mid-80s by the time we hit wednesday. but in the meantime as you could see here, rogue shower or two, that's about it. mostly in the south bay. so we're pretty much done with this one. the numbers are still on the chill side. we have been 15 to 30 degrees below average high temperatures in the bay area for this time of the year. that's going to turn around a

bit. at least we will climb back towards average or actually we could climb back to below average by the time we get to wednesday. and it is all courtesy of that low pressure that is finally getting the elbow and headed out to the east as that low will kick inland and the temperatures will climb up. not that we were totally out of the clouds. tomorrow morning, some high clouds are moving in earlier in the day. but by this time tomorrow night, we will make one thing perfectly clear and that will be the sky as it looks like things will clear up. in terms of rainfall the past three days, didn't do too bad where we are mostly between a few tenths of an inch and an inch in much of the bay area. over the east and south bay. livermore came in with .45 inches and san jose, half an inch in cupertino about two-thirds of an inch. right now we still have clouds hanging around the bay area with increasing sunshine. high pressure nudges towards the south land over the next few days. dry all week. so it looks like we're finished with the rain all the way through next weekend. you look into the

extended forecast like this week coming up, we've got next weekend. after that, things might get unsettled again. but in the meantime we've got sunshine and pretty much plenty of it. rainfall chances, not much. sinking to zero the next few days. showers are clear overnight. then more sunshine, it will be warmer for tomorrow and tuesday. temperatures will be in the low 80s inland by wednesday and thursday and it actually looks like next weekend it will be dry. the first time in a while. it's like there is a clock on the weekend saying rain, but not next weekend. for tonight, we'll be looking at numbers in the low to mid-40s for overnight lows. and the daytime highs for tomorrow, mid-60s will do it for the most part with fairfield at 68, san francisco at 61, and 66 at fremont. in the extended forecast, things look pretty good. temperatures are warming up in san francisco to 70 degrees by wednesday and thursday. in oakland, pretty much the same. a little bit warmer. dry, including in the inland areas where tomorrow,

the numbers will skirt the 70s. in the north bay, the mid-70s by wednesday and thursday. san jose, sunset, a few more clouds coming in on wednesday. but again, next weekend looks mild. and in the east baby the time we would get to wednesday and thursday, we are close to 80 in the warmest spots inland. things are warming up, drying out. things are looking good. so is this guy. here is vern glenn. hey, straight ahead in sports. we are only mid way and it is still in april to remember for golf's number one player, scottie scheffler. with steph curry and draymond green on the bench for the warriors, well, the dubs learn their fate beyond the regular season.

before we get to the masters, we've got the nba up top and the warriors. the league's regular season closed for business, but golden state did not get the business to move up with the kings and the lakers both winning. so steph curry and draymond green, both in street clothes with a healthy stretch for visiting utah. check it out. the second quarter. they would hit that three and made it a nine-point lead. scoring 19 out of his 25 in the first half. the final seconds of the

quarter. utah turned it over. up ahead to brandon for the land. 63-56. dubs at the half. now a lot of e rotation guys on the bench got minutes today. setting up santos for the fourth quarter slam. made it 97-89. santos scored 13. the jazz rallied a two-point game, 90 seconds left. jerome robinson for that fouled with the reverse lay in. making it a five-point game and golden state won it 123-116. and now it is on to sacramento for a single elimination play-in game on tuesday. >> it's ncaa tournament. we need to win the first two and then get to the first round. but we have a shot, so we're excited about that. >> their fans want to light the beam and see us lose and beat the crap out of us. they come in here as we want to beat the crap out of them. a lot of

well, it's time for us to be accountants for the government again. the tax deadline is here. you have until tomorrow, april 15, to file your tax return. the irs is extending the deadline for those who live or work in a federally declared disaster area. a track suit made popular by the dunkin' donuts super bowl ad sold out in minutes. but customers are waiting to get their hands on them. the commercial featured a fake boy band called the dun kings starring ben affleck and tom brady and matt damon. wearing
