from cbs news bay area , this is the morning edition. >> more bad news for san francisco's first republic bank. >> this is important. we need to keep deposits in the u.s. banking system. it is imperative we keep deposits in the u.s. banking system because that is how we build our economy. a meeting in moscow that is raising eyebrows why the u.s. has concerns about a visit from china's leader. former president trump is predicting his own arrest. we are tracking new developments on the stock market. shares of first republic bank are sliding. they have become the barometer of the regional bank crisis and slipped 50% in premarket trading

. this is after the credit rating was downgraded for the second time in a week. this means first republic's credit rating drop deeper into junk status by s&p global. it comes despite the $30 billion infusion from 11 different banks on thursday. s&p cut the credit rating and the stock market index warned another downgrade could be possible. switzerland's biggest bank ubs agreed to by credit suisse. a swiss national bank in an emergency rescue deal. ubs announced the takeover singer rescue would secure financial stability and protect this was economy. on "face the nation" yesterday, margaret brennan spoke to the vice chairman about the recent banking failures. >> at the end of the day, the banks that are most qualified and have the most secure and soundest balance sheets that can afford to of the orb some of these larger regional banks, are the largest banks in america.

be shocked if you see lingering showers and windy conditions. the national weather service issued a wind advisory starting tomorrow morning lasting to the afternoon with wind gusts expecting to hit close to 45 miles per hour. as we time the system out, you see the rotation starting to push him. that will allow for the winds to push from the south to the north. don't be shocked if you are dealing with breezy conditions along the bay bridge or the golden gate bridge tomorrow around noon. here is a look at the next seven days. mild conditions but cooler temperatures tomorrow. some top stories. former president donald trump is expected to be arrested tomorrow in connection with the hush money case that is being weighed by a new york grand jury. he took to truth social, his social media network early saturday morning, blaming illegal leaks from the manhattan district attorney's office to be the cause of his potential arrest. trump's team that the prediction is based on media reports, not what has been released from the manhattan das office new york officials started prepping for possible protests.

jinping. the white house said president biden told his counterpart there would be consequences, if china provide support to russia. the meetings between them come days after the international criminal court issued an arrest warrant for vladimir putin for the deportation and abduction of children from ukraine to russia. >> it is a somber occasion. for the first time ever, judges of the international criminal court of any court have felt it necessary to issue warns against a leader. >> reporter: over the weekend, vladimir putin made an ordinance visit to mary opal, driving himself through the ukrainian city that russia's military bombed, seized and annexed last may. it is believed to be the closest vladimir putin has come to the front lines since he started the war. china's president xi jinping is expected to run through wednesday and he is expected to

we have breaking news. more layoffs in the tech sector. amazon said it is going to get rid of 9000 more jobs in the next few weeks. this comes weeks after amazon said it would lay off 18,000 employees. amazon ceo says there is not a hiring freeze and the company would still higher in some strategic areas. the three major u.s. stock indexes took a dive friday as investors were on edge over the failure of multiple banks. looking at the market this morning, the dow jones in the green. if you love smoothies, check your freezer. scenic fruit company is recalling frozen organic tropical fruit blend and

organic frozen strawberries. the products were sold under various company labels to multiple retailers including costco, and trader joe's. the fda said there has been at least five infections linked to the recall. consumers are advised to throw away the fruit or return it to the store for a refund. import news for americans living with diabetes. a pharmaceutical company is the third major drugmaker to announce insulin price reductions. the company promising the out- of-pocket cost for the most prescribed insulin will be capped at $35 for patients with commercial insurance. the 10 most expensive states to retire in has been released and california did not make the cut. compared affordability, quality- of-life and healthcare across 50 states. new york is the most expensive and then new jersey, vermont, massachusetts, washington and connecticut.

i'm guessing they did not look at property values and gas prices. the period seacliff state beach has stood for nearly 100 years, but it will be torn down today. we spoke with a park ranger about preserving parts of the pier before it was destroyed. >> reporter: structural engineer say the pier was in imminent danger of collapse after recent storms left and buckled and broken and beyond repair. but there are a few special items still left on the that park rangers will try to salvage before the rest is torn down. >> people have gravesites. we have a bench. >> reporter: her family had a memorial bench placed on the pier after her father's death. there is about a half dozen of those benches on the remnant of the pier and park rangers say preserving them is priority number one. >> that is a priority before any excavators start destroying the pier. we will salvage as many of the memorial benches as possible.

>> reporter: when we spoke to her last month, she said the bench on the her father's connection to the ocean and in turn their connection to him. she did not want it to be one more thing lost to wind and waves and whether, this year. >> sometimes you are having issues and something. you may go and sit at the bench and talk. >> reporter: park rangers say the demolition could take up to 6 weeks but probably less than that. they are letting the public to come out and watch, but from a safe distance. >> no one will be able to go near or around or under the pier during the demolition. >> reporter: the cement ship as it is commonly known will stay but the pier, a landmark for generations, will be gone for good. >> we will not do anything to the ss palo alto ship. it will stand in place for a natural habitat that is already been created for marine life.

we do not have any plans to rebuild the pr itself. we are kicking off this work week pretty mild. mostly sunny skies and high clouds passing through. daytime highs in the 50s. a little cooler than average. inland areas will hit upper 50s in the forecast. throughout the bay, it is great to get out and get some fresh air ahead of our next big rain event that happens tomorrow. we are highlighting tuesday as an alert to let you know that on our first alert forecast things are changing. we are seeing some high clouds sweeping through this afternoon. there is not a lot to talk about until the early morning hours tomorrow. this will wake us up with light drizzle to heavy drizzle as we sweep throughout the morning hours. this is by 5:30. into the 8:00 hour, it sweeps to the north and you can see the rotation offshore. right around 6:00 in the

afternoon. that system is an area of low pressure and it will continue to track mostly to the south as we head all the way into those evening hours, even as we linger into our wednesday forecast with some unsettled weather into wednesday late evening. in total, our rainfall total amounts will get anywhere from half an inch to about an inch in the forecast. this is a pretty impactful storm that sweeps its way through from tuesday into wednesday and it tapers off for the rest of the week. to add to that, the windsor the big concern. a wind advisory is in effect issued by the national weather service as the system sweeps from the north to the south and it pops offshore, heading into noon as we head into our forecast tomorrow. with that in mind, it wind advisory has been issued. that will last from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. tomorrow. 45 mile-per-hour wind gusts are expected. let's time this out. tuesday into the 10:00 hour, rotation offshore allowing for the winds to push from the south to the north. mount diablo up to 40 mile-per-hour winds expected. gusty conditions no matter where you are in the bay. the next seven days, we will

in california, march 18th through the 24th is women's military history week. the city of l.a. who held a ceremony to recognize female veterans. the goal is to encourage them to speak out about their service.

>> reporter: salute to the military are not unusual. they happen several times a year across the country. recognizing women who serve is rare indeed. on this day the city of l.a. who offered a special thank you to women who have had to fight for the right to fight for their country.>> for your small town to recognize your service, after so long, is very, very gratifying. >> reporter: women have played a key role in the wartime history of this nation, but even as the role has become more central to the mission, their efforts are often overlooked. dolores joined the navy in 1955 , later retiring as a chief petty officer. she says women veterans have stayed quiet about their service for too long. >> it is a time for women now to stand up, and not be afraid to speak and be part of our country. but we have always been in the background, and now we are coming up to be equal and stand up for what we believe is right. >> there were so many women

that have broken barriers and have done things that we would never even know. for the mail, part, they are being recognized and women are not. >> reporter: the caps because it has been such a struggle, many women veterans don't talk about their service. as a result, they have had a hard time getting consideration when it comes to benefits for retired and active duty service members.>> not every woman is willing to stand up for what is right, what is right for themselves come what is right for the person next to them. it is important because if not you, then who? >> reporter: as a token of gratitude and encouragement, the city offered women veterans a certificate of appreciation, one small symbol that their sacrifice is not going on scene. and even though she is now 90 years old, she said she cherishes the recognition and urges current servicewomen to speak up for fair treatment.
