the area. >> we know the identity of the hostage killed in the shootout. stockton resident misty holt sing, a mother of two. we go now live to the bank in stockton. alan? >> ama and larry, these suspects were heavily armed when they walked through these doors. police believe they were trying to kill them during this pursuit. the crime scene is all over this city. there are holes in buildings, homes and cars. it all ended in a neighborhood two miles from here. >> it ended in this stockton neighborhood where police shot it out with three bank robbery suspects. two are now dead, but so is one of the hostages. >> it preliminarily appears that one of the gunmen used the third and final hostage as a shield. >> the victim, misty holt-sing was identified by family members gathered in front of

her home. they don't know if she was killed by the suspect or police cross fire. her cousin said misty's 12-year-old daughter was waiting in the car when the bank was robbed around 2:00. >> she it was -- she was an inma sent bystander. she left her kid in the car. she goes inside. whatever happened, happened. her daughter has to text her husband saying they took mom. >> they also took two female bank employees and lead police on a high speed chase while firing an assault rifle. here is a photo of the assault rifle on the scene. 14 squad cars were hit. along the way police say the two employees either jumped or were thrown out of the car while it was traveling at at least 50 miles an hour. >> she was on the ground and my brother saw her roll over and her leg was tore up and bleeding. the fire department wasn't there yet and nobody was there yet. >> police say the bank has a history of being robbed and these suspects may be connected to previous robberies. and the family of misty

holt-sing is extremely upset tonight. i spoke with them. they believe this all could have been handled much better. there were a lot of bullets fired. it is going to take an autopsy and ballistic tests to determine exactly how she was killed. reporting live in stockton, alan wang, abc7 news. >> alan, thank you. the chase lasted for nearly an hour. this is cell phone video showing how many police cars were involved in the pursuit. dozens and dozens. many involved in the gunbattle. at least 14 police cars were hit by bullets along with houses and other vehicles. the firefight was taking place on busy roads and in residential neighborhoods. >> friends, family and even total strangers are offering condolences on the facebook page of misty holt sing. the hostage and mother of two who were killed. many are sickened and saddened by this tragedy. others writing "rest in peace, misty." and offering prayers to her family. >> we will continue to follow this story on air and

on-line. our coverage continues on twitter at abc7 news bay area. a judge today ruled california's death penalty violates the u.s. constitution's ban on cruel and unusual punishment. the federal judge in orange county found unpredictable delays resulted in an arbitrary and unfear cap pal punishment system. california halted executions after a similar ruling by a federal judge in san jose. new at 11:00, the tsa is investigating claims that a trunk man posed as a security screener at sfo. investigators believe the 53-year-old man from san francisco was wearing clothing similar to those worn by tsa agents and he directed a woman into a private screening booth. he was caught while trying to get a second woman inside the booth. this happened yesterday at area a security in the international terminal. right now the man is only facing charges of public drunkenness. >> a pair of home burglars is on the loose in the north bay. take a look. the sheriff deputies hope someone can help them identify

the two young men. a home surveillance camera captured these images. the two are accused of burglarizing a home around 10:30 last saturday night. deputies think these men could be linked to two other burglaries around that time. santa clara police are using youtube to help track down a suspect accused of stealing an 11-year-old's bike and threatening him with a knife. it happened on july 7th near washington elementary school. this is surveillance video of the suspect and these friends at 7-eleven minutes before the robbery. you can see the suspects on the bike with another person a few minutes later. in what seems to be a never ending saga, the oakland city council approved a 10-yearlies extension with the oakland a's tonight. but there is a catch. the council made changes to the deal sending it back to the a's despite their owner lou wolf saying he was done negotiating. sergio is live with more on what was a lively meeting tonight. sergio?

>> that's the way it goes in the oakland city council meeting. these negotiations have been going on for quite awhile. it is really in the last six months they got rough. tonight's vote does agree to the financial portion of the lease. however, the small changes that agreed to were made even after the a's made it very clear that they are done with negotiating. on a 5-2 vote the oakland city council approved the terms of the lease extension to keep the a's at o-dot-co stadium. >> we accept 99.9% of everything. this was clean up language. there is nothing that affects the economics. >> over the next 10 years the deal projects more than $20 million in licensing revenues to oakland and alameda county. a big increase compared to eight million over the last 10 years. the chief negotiator said this deal is real progress. >> the total amount of money

this was shear terror at 30,000 feet. we are hearing from passengers on board a south african airways flight that was slammed by severe turbulence. at least 20 people were injured and tonight so many are asking, what about the seatbelts on this plane? abc news reporter matt gutman has the story. >> turbulence, the kind that can rock a plane like this rocked last night's flight so violently that these are images of the overhead compartments, cracked by passengers catapulted into the air. look closely at this hole. punched in by a passenger's head. in all, 20 injured as the

scattered in monterey bay. commander albert sebode and others died in 1952 when their plane crashed into an alaskan glacier. his family was there as his remains arrived at sfo. the monterey herald reports that he was not from the area, but for personal reasons his family wants his final resting place to be at the money -- monterey coast. the remains were found by the national guard during a training mission. the crash site is being monitored for the possible future recovery efforts. an update on a young bay area mother who suddenly collapsed from an aneurism two weeks ago. a blood vessel burst in heidi's head without warning. she underwent surgeries at stanford. heidi's family contacted abc7 news to tell us she has woken up and no longer in a coma. great news there. the family was also asking for help to pay for her medical bills. they say our story got the word out not just in the bay

area, but all across the globe. donations have exceeded $100,000 in just a week. bay area bunnies are multiplying like rabbits and it is causing a surge in the population at the peninsula humane society. right flow are 58 rob bits -- right now there are 58 rabbits at the shelter. that's up from this time last year. >> we believe because of the time they came to us, many of those were easter season impulse buys, purchased by families who thought it was a good idea at the time and then realized that it was either too much care or the novelty wore off and then dumped them at their local shelter. >> they are cute. because there are so many the peninsula humane society and the spca are waving adoption fees for rabbits. they make great pets and can live 10 to 12 years. but the families need to be willing to learn to care for them properly. this is a pint-sized proposal one new york couple could not refuse. this adorable little girl is anna bell earl.
