fighting dps or lapd. they were chanting, they were loud about their beliefs, but they were marched down truesdale avenue to the exit of campus without staying in the tents, without being there. when the encampment was being disassembled and we mentioned ucla crews are continuing to clean up after the pro-palestinian encampment there was cleared out, a stark contrast to what happened at usc. you may remember last at ucla last week, demonstrators clashed with police refusing to leave. more than 200 people were arrested during that confrontation. police are maintaining a presence on the campus amid fears protesters might come back to try to set up another encampment. now on the san francisco state campus. the encampment that began monday is growing, and folks occupying these tents are excited about an event tomorrow. people at the encampment are telling us that the school president, lynn mahoney, will be joining them on campus for what we're told will be an open negotiation. the demands on the university include disclosing and divesting

all investments with companies doing business with israel and declaring opposition to what they call the genocide in gaza. it will be hosted here at the quad over our encampment. we are going to be discussing our terms of demands and we are hoping that we come to a concrete conclusion and if we don't, then we'll continue the work that we are doing. a spokesperson says the demands are non-negotiable, and we're just hearing back from san francisco state that, in fact, a meeting is on the schedule of president mahoney. well, not the war in gaza, but climate justice was the center of another protest in the east bay. and instead of land, the demonstrators took their protests to the water. they paddled out to the bay near chevron richmond refinery, demanding the company take action to address climate crisis. now here's nbc bay area's christie smith, who they paddled to shore in richmond and were met with cheers after spending hours on the water. this was a peaceful protest out on the water. we are, trying to

cinco de mayo. it's always kind of a fun festive day, you know it. to be able to be on the water is such a different experience from being on land in the city, it's just a great day to be out and enjoy the festivities. yeah one last note about the free to be this schooner. the woman who owns it. yes. her name is marina. it is only fitting for a boat owner to be named marina. that all makes sense. had to mention that. margaritas. marina. there we go. all right, well, up next, a bay area city is seeing a population boom. yeah. the new report rating the fastest growing cities in the state and an east bay city topping that list. and some good news at the pump. prices are ticking down but will the price drop last through the busy travel season? analysts are weighing in and we have a nice spring finish to the weekend. but let me ask you this are you ready for summer? we're going to have a major warm-up coming up this week. i'll show you those temperatures in the microclimate forecast ahead for us college protests disrupting graduations at some schools as others think

oil prices show little change short term. two main factors are lower crude oil prices and weaker u.s. gasoline demand due to high inflation and higher prices. and we are still paying much more here in california. unfortunately, the statewide average 535. in the bay area, the average price for a gallon of regular 557 in san francisco. 547 as you see there in oakland and in san jose. 542. one bay area city has made the list of fastest growing cities in the state. i'm going to give you a moment to think about it. which city is it? the population of just over 13,000, ladies and gentlemen, emeryville, california's second fastest growing city at the start of 2023, about 12,700 people living there, 5% up from the past year compared to ten years ago. it's an increase of more than 20. emeryville joins a list of central valley and san joaquin valley cities that are also growing at a similar rate. one reason may be that emeryville's housing production rate has

to warm out as we go on into the coming weekend. really throughout the week as we saw those models with the snow, we just kept going, oh my goodness. and it just kept coming. our snowpack really healthy even at this time of the year through the north, central and southern part of the state. and remember this supplies about a third of our water supply as we deepen that spring melt and go into our summer months. so a really healthy note there back here in the bay area. gorgeous finish to the weekend after a soggy start. it is breezy at times as we go on into some of the coasts and some of the valleys, but it will start to subside as we go on into the week and actually get much warmer. 70s and some upper 80s are in the forecast. there but we have to hold our horses for a little bit again on tomorrow morning. we are going to start with those chilly 40s in our valley. so you're going to need the heater, grab the jacket and by lunchtime, still breezy out there as you make your lunchtime plans and into the afternoon. more sunshine. breezy at times, but again, those winds will start to subside as we go on into a more high pressure pattern here. building that ridge, clearing our skies, showers are going to

stay away from the bay area, so what's that going to do to our temperatures? i want you to find that sunscreen. all of those nice water bottles that you've been stocking up in the kitchen, because we're going to need it. as we go on into wednesday, we start to get more of those 70s and some 80s on the map. i think the warmest days of the week, however, are going to be onto thursday and friday. and what the good thing that this weekend's rain did is subside. some of those fire concerns as we go on into thursday. look at this dry and warm 84, in santa rosa, upper 70s through the peninsula. some low 80s for los gatos, san jose. but it's really as we make our way east into concord and fairfield, where we start to creep up into those mid 80s. so if that's too hot for you, maybe staying inside with the shades closed, the fan going. that's not too bad either . by the time that we get on into friday, we are feeling like summer here with some of our inland valleys flirting with the 90s out there in vacaville, fairfield and parts of the santa clara valley will also be pretty toasty along the bay. that might be a nice end to our workweek
