within the past hour he fileded a federal lawsuit with the district of california and in the 39-page complaint that you can see on the screen he's asking the federal court to intervene and stop oakland from renaming oakland international to san francisco bay oakland international airport. chu argues that the addition of those three words, san francisco bay, will confuse travelers especially non-native speakers of english into thinking oakland international airport is san francisco's airport. he argues that confusion will lead to travel mishaps and infringe on sfo's trademark name san francisco international airport. the city of san francisco alleges the renaming plan appears intentionally designed to divert travelers who may be unfamiliar with bay area geography and lead them to believe that oak has a business relationship with sfo which it does not.
11:03 am

have done without the insurance and you know, the red cross and other resources that the city has offered me after the fire. after years of catastrophic wildfires in our state, the state's insurance safety net, the california fair plan is reaching a breaking point. it was created to provide basic fire insurance coverage for high-risk properties when people cannot get traditional coverage, but with so many insurance companies pulling back from california it is overwhelmed by demand and funded by a pay-in program by all insurance companies doing business in california and now there are fewer of them. just last month california state insurance commissioner, ricardo lara announced a reform plan that would try to make it more affordable for companies to stay in california by allowing them to raise rates and premiums. of course, that would make it more expensive for homeowners, as well. in san francisco, kris sanchez, nbc bay area news. >> three people are now behind
