hit and run crash. the sister of the men accused of killing the tech executive, bob lee. he was arrested in november while under the influence. prosecutors say she was high on fentanyl, cocaine, and nitrous oxide when she signed her car into other parked cars. her hearing has been rescheduled until the end of next month at her brother has pleaded not guilty to killing bob lee. prosecutors in that case say that her connection to lee mike either connection to understanding what led to lee's killing. account searching for solutions, a coordinated cleanup effort is underway in the city of oakland. it's been three months since the mayor launched the fresh initiative with the goal of cleaning up some of oakland's most troubled areas. athena jones caught up with city crews today to see if the program is working.

in the heaven targeting graffiti, potholes, trash, clearing overgrown brush. it's an effort between multiple departments that the town hopes sends a message. >> we can take back our response. we can take back the area completely. >> reporter: is part of the oakland fresh program to clean up the core door. gerald bradley's crew is working on 32nd and market. he explains that graffiti has been the hardest to tackle with taggers coming back nearly every day. after months, he is starting to see a change. >> we probably need to do more of this with everybody working together. this is the first time -- in the program targeted the most underserved communities in areas with the most reported complaints. neighbors say that life is a problem that is out of control. >> it is terrible.

in the central valley firefighters racing to a fire ended up involved with her own emergency with their truck slammed into a home.

this crash happened around 7:00 this morning in stockton. police say the fire truck was responding to a call when it crashed into a car in the road. it went to the intersection, hit a second car and crashed into the home. the roof of the house on top of the truck, the time of the crash the owner of the home happened to be across the street at a gas station. >> we see the fire truck go by and we looked out and the owner of the house that the fire truck is sitting in, he was over here for his coffee. i think he was there by himself. he calmly walked across the street. >> the drivers of both cars were taken to the hospital. four firefighters were hurt in the crashes under investigation. in president biden made a move that will protect american workers. he said china is overproducing goods like steel and aluminum. exporting them to the usa undercutting american producers.

the president is calling to triple the current tariffs on chinese steel and aluminum that will bump them up 25%. critics argue it could backfire. higher consumer crisis and fuel inflation but mr. biden says he believes it will protect american workers and ensure fair competition. the bottom line, i want fair competition with china. not conflict. we are investing in american workers again. >> the president made those comments in speech while campaigning for reelection in the swing state of pennsylvania. the steelworkers union endorsed him last month hopeful news for college grads. president biden is pushing for a student debt forgiveness plan. his first attempt was unsuccessful. last summer the u.s. supreme court shut down his proposal. this time the administration hopes the plan will survive legal hurdles. it's relying on the regulatory

process and set of executive action. the biden administration will review feedback. if all goes well, the plan could clear that for millions of borrowers by this fall. as we have been telling you all day, the road to paris is wide open for the 2024 olympic games. >> jessica is here for a look at some venues for team usa. hello. >> can you believe we are 100 days out from the 2024 paris games. the cost for another tour de france. athletes will compete for gold. the city of light will have 15 olympic sites and 11 paralympic sites shining a light on paris historical landmarks. none is as iconic as the eiffel tower. it is at the foot, the iron lady, 12,000 spectators will watch beach volleyball and the men's paralympic line for.

it was built for the 1889 world fair. the eiffel tower is made of over 18,000 iron parts. in stan's 1000 feet high and it lowers 7 million visitors a year. the world champs of volleyball, they will try to extend team usa's perfect street. since the debut at the 1996 games, the u.s. collected a lot of link in beach volleyball. they will get a little piece of metal with iron metal down for that majestic site. fantastic. don't you think? >> her french is really good. the opening ceremony for the summer games in paris is july 26. you can watch the coverage start to finish exclusively on nbc bay area.

we are continuing the countdown to the paris olympics in 100 days. i want to start off with a look at what the weather is like once the games get underway. july and august. overall, it is pretty comfortable on average. these are the warmest months though. looking at an average high of 78 as the games get underway. the average low of 61. rainfall at about 2.5 inches. there is a possibility of getting thunderstorms but here is the thing athletes are closely monitoring four. also, preparing and training for. the chance of heat waves. if they get any heat waves, it usually happens in july and august. the past couple of years i have seen hot temperatures within the past 10 years. they got as high as 108. heat waves will be the top story

, if any, that comes out of weather from the paris games. all of our coverage continues and as we go through tonight and beyond. let's move to the bay area weather. high pressure that will keep the main storm tracked to the north and we are still seeing the southern branch of the jet stream moving into california. we will get some cloud cover for tomorrow. the other thing i want you to be on the lookout for if you are getting in the car and going on a road trip, you may get thunderstorms popping in the central valley. it's only a slight chance that there is a possibility going into tomorrow and friday. for us, we will started off with areas of fog and high clouds. we will see the high clouds continuing to mix in through the afternoon. like today, it is more of the filtered sunshine. morning temperatures will begin like this. down the 52 in the south bay. 50 in the tri-valley. the 50s continued for the east

bay and san francisco and northbay. it is another day were numbers are above average and back in the 80s to the south bay. 81 in cupertino. 80 in morgan hill. the 80s also in play for cochran, pleasanton, danville. 74, oakland. a big contrast in temperatures for the peninsula. 62 at half moon bay with the cold ocean breeze. palo alto, 78. san francisco, the wind out of the west you will stay at 67. you get a little bit away from that ocean breeze and it will get up to 74. the northbay, 80. 74 in mountain valley. beyond this, we have been talking about the possibilities of rain in the next 10 days for the storm system out here by friday morning. it gets close by saturday morning. everything still shows breaking through the weekend. saturday and sunday, drive. as we go through next week, it

elon musk is trying again. he wants tesla to give him the conversation he says he deserves. in january a judge blocked plans for him to receive a $56 billion pay package. tesla failed to prove the number was fair. he asked her holders to repay the package. in response to the decision he asked shareholders to move the company from delaware where it currently is incorporated to texas where it is headquartered. the move comes days after tesla said they will work by 10%. a slump in sales and stock prices. there are lots of losses on wall street today. all three indexes drop low with nasdaq dropping the biggest.
