happened. >> in california, landlords, all landlords have a duty to protect their tenants from criminal acts being done on the property. and california gardens did nothing to protect pedro or his brother or the other victims of that shooting. >> today, they filed lawsuits on behalf of both families, against the farm owners, california tera gardens and jin min guan, saying they created deplorable living conditions. pedro said they were living in shipping containers. >> it had been converted into an empty space, where they were forced to leave their home. >> those conditions led to the shooting. >> the shooter, when you find out the facts. what caused him to do the

for sure. following this most recent round of rain. this is what it looks like on mount hamilton today. yes, it is spring. but that looks like winter. sky ranger, capturing this video of the mountain blanketing the snow. earlier this afternoon, we saw some hail in walnut creek too. you can see it there gathering on the cars. you can see it there. meteorologist vianey joins us now. and that may be a harbinger of things to come. >> certainly did. depending on where you're heading. some areas just seeing that active weather pattern. because of this cooled air mass. and we've even seen some heavier pockets. temperature-wise now. if you notice, san jose at about 57 degrees. 57 in oakland. and we've got the low 50s in through parts of walnut creek. but the next big story, heading into saturday.

and tonight is going to be the continued drop in temperatures. as we begin to see the cold, overnight 30s. let's take a look now at our storm. notice this. i'm going to zoom in closer. we are detecting lightning strikes now. right over san ramon. portions heading into tracy. that's about to make its way over there. into the afternoon. this is going to continue to sort of trek eastward. and notice, that's mount hamilton. still seeing that wintry mix coming down. those areas are also seeing some gustier winds, especially for some of the higher peaks. and this does stretch, not only for us here in northern california. but stretches out through parts of central california. we're talking bakersfield, fresno. all along the grapevine stretch through southern california. you're dealing with dangerous conditions. meas make sure to check the road if you have plans to travel. i know it's the weekend. what to expect, we're going to keep the chance for rain, wind and thunderstorms the next few hours. it will continue to taper.

one of california's most notorious killers is wait to find out if one of its death sentences is overturned. for the murder of polly klaas in petaluma. her body was found two months later. davis was sentenced to death in 1996. his lawyers are arguing now that a 2022 california law invalidates his sentencing enhancements for felony convictions, entitling him to a full resentencing. prosecutors say that did not aphrao i to his death sentence. the next hearing is scheduled for may 31st. san francisco is known as

temperature-wise. and even clearingwise. when it comes to the cloud cover. that's another big story with the eclipse. because across the u.s. it's going to be hard to see in some spots because of cloud cover. but for us here. it's good. currently, we have temperatures, 44 in livermore. 44 degrees. to south here. we have upper 50s on the map. and certainly still seeing a lot of that instability. if you're in san francisco, you're likely noticing just clearing in the skies. if you're in through portions of the i interior. it will continue to make its way east. notice, we have lightning picking up. we even have small hail. and the same conditions going down portions through mount

hamilton. but also through parts of tracy, central and southern california. timingwise, let's talk the timeline. because this isn't going to last all night. but notice the instability. it's going to continue to drop those. notice kind of into early saturday morning. we get the return of cloud cover. but before the cloud cover. the drops in temperatures will be pretty significant. notice, 7:00 in the morning. we've got 30s in santa rosa. dublin, 39. we're still going to be in the upper 50s, low 60s for saturday. buzz cold conditions will continue. this is early sunday morning. around 7:00 a.m. in the 30s and 40s for san jose. and as that cold air mass begins to make an exit. we'll start to see the bump up

into temperatures in the 60s by the time we get to sunday. >> i want to make you aware of this frost advisory. napa, oakland, danville. we're talking about wind chill values, especially low 30s. that's going to be in effect until 9:00 a.m. for saturday. now, the long-range outlook now. i mentioned the slight warmup into sunday. but the system could bring us enough instability, where we could see another shoty shower or two. but don't expect complete downpours. see the orange that moved in there. that is a warmup as a warmer air mass coming in. also decent bump in temperatures. we're going to see 70s for san francisco. partial eclipse starts around 10:14. clear skies expected to the
