we begin with the new developments in the trials of donald trump. the former president has posted a $175 million bond in his new york civil fraud case. it was provided by a california-based insurance company. nbc's brie jackson is joining us live from washington, d.c. brie, what does this mean for the former president? >> reporter: good morning, jessica. it means that donald trump's properties and other assets are safe for now. they were in danger of being seized by new york authorities, but now they are protected while the appeals process continues. attorneys for trump say he will be vindicated , and this verdic will be overturned. if that does not happen, mr. trump will still owe more than $450 million. meanwhile, in the criminal hush money case in new york, judge juan marchand has extended a gag order. mr. trump is now barred from attacking the family members of court staff, in addition to witnesses and prosecutors. the republican frontrunner has called on the judge to recuse

himself and repeatedly attacked marchand's daughter because she worked for a firm that was used by democratic campaigns. trump accused the daughter of using a picture of him behind bars as a profile picture on social media. but a spokesperson for the court said the account was not actually hers. the d.a.'s office says trump's attacks have been based on falsehoods, saying the defendant knows what he is doing, and everyone else does too. a source with direct knowledge tells nbc news that hope hicks is expected to testify in the hush money case. as you may recall, hicks was the trump campaign press secretary back in 2016 when trump is alleged to have made hush money payments. now mr. trump has denied any wrongdoing. jessica? >> all right, brie, thank you. now to a city commissioner in oklahoma who is facing a recall election today, following the revelation that he has ties to white nationalists.

42-year-old judd blevins attended the 2017 unite the right rally in charlottesville, virginia. today he'll face off against his opponent, cheryl patterson, a grandmother and long-time church leader. both candidates are republicans, but the election is bipartisan and open to all registered voters in the ward. today is also primary day in arkansas, connecticut, mississippi, rhode island and wisconsin. a six-week abortion ban is set to begin in florida in 30 days. that's because the state supreme court upheld a current 15-week ban paving the way to implement the already-approved stricter law. but the state justices are also giving voters the final say, allowing a constitutional amendment to preserve abortion access to appear on the ballot in november. if approved, florida's constitution would allow abortion up until vieability, which is right around 24 weeks. a ballot measure was also

by an idf airstrike. now following the reports of this airstrike, the idf saying in a statement that they are conducting a thorough review at the highest levels to try to understand the circumstances of this tragic accident. now world central kitchen saying they are suspending their operations, and chef jose andres saying in a statement, i am heartbroken and grieving. the israeli government needs to stop this indiscriminate killing. now this episode follows an airstrike on an iranian consulate building inside syria t that they blame on israel. israel not commenting on this airstrike, as they typically do involving airstrikes inside syria. but iran saying two generals were killed, along with other officers in this airstrike. the ambassador vowing revenge, as fears continue to grow that this conflict could continue to

expand in the region. jessica? >> all right, chapman, thank you. back here in the u.s., former nfl corner back von tae davis was found dead in a florida mansion. foul play is not suspected. the broward county medical examiner's office is investigating the death. he played in the nfl from 2009 to 2018, suiting up for the miami dolphins, colts and buffalo bills. he was just 35 years old. let's turn now to baltimore, where progress is being made to reopen the port after that deadly bridge collapse. crews have been able to open up a small channel to help in the recovery process. aaron gilchrist has more. >> reporter: authorities battling more bad weather in the urgent mission to get a portion of the baltimore port back open, announcing a temporary channel now complete. >> it will help us get more vessels in the water along the site of the collapse. >> reporter: we were out on the

water with the coast guard. with this temporary channel open, we are seeing a barge being pushed by a tugboat. the operation in full swing, six days after the francis scott key bridge chancedollapsed. crews were out there with cutting torches slicing the metal. the new 11-foot-deep temporary shipping lane expected to only allow vessels needed for salvage operations. experts working around the clock. >> the plan, clear the bridge wreck an wreckage from the channel. stabilize the dolly and eventually move some cargo containers. all of this expected to take weeks at least. >> we're going to move as rapidly as possible but continue to do it safely. >> reporter: every day the port remains closed could have a major impact on the supply complain and the 8,000 jobs that

central oklahoma so far this year. in san antonio, texas, hail hammered down into a resident's back yard pool. this morning, the threat continues, as the system pushes east. now, let's go to nbc meteorologist angie lassman who is tracking all of this. good morning. it could get messy out here. >> yeah, good morning, jessica. you are exactly right. we have the potential for strong storms, heavy rain. the flooding is there. let's break down these impacts. satellite or radar, rather, showing you this line of thunderstorms, plenty of lightning with it. waking up to rumbles of thunder across parts of the midwest. and from places like missouri to indiana, we have a tornado watch that's going to remain in effect a little longer. we also have winter alerts as we gear up for snow. and flood watches are in effect for 17 million right now. here's the storm system we're watching today. you can see the gusty winds and snow in the upper midwest. the rain a little farther to the
