in santa rosa. after this cool start, it's going to be a very pleasant afternoon. no april fool's joke here. we're headed for the low 70s today, with sunshine, after that mixed bag of weather we had over the weekend. it's nice that things will calm down for a little bit. we're up to 71 in dublin today, 71 in mountain view. in san francisco, 66 degrees. 75 in santa rosa. a significant warm-up compared to the past few days. we'll have a couple of days of this before things change. mike, you're checking out two reports on the grid. >> i've got two reports on the grid. one is by the bay bridge toll plaza, westbound toward san francisco. eastbound, reports of a disabled vehicle. scanned the reports and cameras, i don't see any problem. we'll follow the report there getting off of the bay bridge. again, no major problems. over here, the second on the grid, this is northbound 242. five minutes ago i saw a little

slowing. it looks like it cleared up, but that is the crash direction as you're heading into concord out of pleasant hill and walnut creek. no major slowing in your commute direction coming out of antioch for westbound highway 4, easy drive through the tri-valley. altamont pass, a little slowing, as typical. >> thank you. starting today, thousands of fast food workers all across california will see a significant jump in pay. >> yeah, "today in the bay"'s bob redell is joining us live from outside of a mcdonald's in dublin. that new law mandates the minimum wage pay for workers is $20 an hour now. >> reporter: correct. but it does not apply to all fast food workers. good morning to you, marcus and kris. this raise in minimum wage applies to workers at chains that have at least 60 locations nationwide, so that would be, like, mcdonald's, kfc, subway, starbucks, places like that. according to federal data, this will impact more than 500,000

fast food workers in the state of california, who until today averaged around $16.60 an hour, which was only slightly above the state's minimum wage. the new $20 minimum wage for workers will amount to roughly a 20% pay raise. there are exceptions to the new rule. the state has said that restaurants that produce and sell bread are exempt, but not if the dough is pre-made elsewhere. restaurants inside a grocery store are exempt, and at airports, event centers, theme parks. we spoke to the owner of a pizza location concerned about the increased cost to his business. >> as an owner or employer, you have to have coverage to pay them. if you cannot, you have to shut your door. or they're going to lose hours. >> it could have this positive impact of increasing wages where possible in other non

hospitality fields. >> reporter: the second person was the former director of employment development who thinks it will take some time to clarify the gray areas in the new law. employees who think they should be paid the new minimum wage but who are not, they do have the option to file a claim through the state's labor commissioner. mcdonald's, starbucks, chipotle and other major chains have said they do intend to raise the prices we pay as consumers. but by how much, some economists anticipate about 5%, others as little as 2%. reporting live here in dublin, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> it will be interesting to see. we know it's hard to make it in the bay. >> yeah. >> thank you, bob. 5:05 right now. a pedestrian is dead after a crash last night in san jose. it happened around 7:40 on saratoga avenue. this is near the harker school upper school campus, and interstate 280. police telling us the man was on

foot when he was hit. officers closed saratoga avenue briefly while first responders investigated and cleared that scene. it's not clear what led to the crash, but the driver stayed and cooperated with police. business owners and the oakland community are coming together in support of one of their own after thieves broke into a boutique. take a look at the surveillance video. it shows the moment when someone forcefully made their way inside taylor jay's flagship store on broadway. the owner says the burglar took at least $20,000 worth of merchandise, including its pos or point of sale system, and a full rack of clothing. even before this, taylor jay says she has been having meetings with other business owners concerned about safety. >> just being a business owner, oakland has been a struggle. the last couple of years it's been really hard for myself and fellow business owners, and the community, people that are

afraid for their safety. >> yesterday a solidarity rally was held near city hall echoing the needs for safety. small business owners and community members are calling for the support of local neighborhoods, restaurants and shops. just into our newsroom, the u.s. and israel are set to discuss talks about potential alternatives when it comes to ground assaults in the israeli city of rafah. that meeting is set to take place virtually. now, originally it was scheduled to happen in person at the white house last week. that was canceled by prime minister benjamin netanyahu. the discussion comes after the u.s. declined to use its veto to stop a u.n. security council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire in gaza. an official tells nbc news israeli officials are still traveling to the white house in the coming days to continue the meeting in person. all of this comes as the race for presidency continues to heat up, as well as the race to raise money. here is "today in the bay"'s

brie jackson. >> reporter: former president trump spending easter sunday online, railing against the court cases against him, calling prosecutors and judges crooked and corrupt. while trump's rhetoric may offend some backers, other donors are doubling down. >> they're afraid of donald trump and they're afraid if donald trump's s.e.c. decides that if they didn't sufficiently support him that they'll come down on their various investment banking firms, hedge funds, et cetera. >> reporter: the presumptive gop nominee is promoting an array of products, ranging from sneakers to bibles, in an effort to fundraise. he's also preparing for an april 15th trial date in his new york hush money case. meanwhile, house republicans say their impeachment inquiry into president biden is nearing an end. >> right now the lawyers on the committee i talked to say there's not a specific crime. you need that for a high crime or misdemeanor. i think the investigation

merited an investigation to put the facts out, let the public look at it. >> reporter: the biden campaign is ramping up public appearances and extending its fundraising lead, posting a record setting $26 million during a star-studded event featuring presidents clinton and obama. >> it's not just the negative case against the presumptive nominee on the other side, it's the positive case for somebody who has done an outstanding job in the presidency. >> what we saw in new york last thursday was a show of unity and a show of defense of democracy. >> reporter: president biden still faces challenges. outside his events, crowds protested his policy on the israel/hamas war. in washington, brie jackson, nbc news. 5:09 now. and heavy rain moved across california over the weekend, causing flooding in several areas. in montecito, down near santa

barbara, nearly 2 inches of rain fell in the span of just one hour. we know that much rain in that short amount of time is trouble. heavy rain led to flooding, as well as rocks and mudslides onto many local roadways. several homes also experienced damage. downed power lines fell, trees fell, gas leaks were reported throughout the area. >> it's crazy to see all of that happening. just so much rain. in the bay area, most of us along the coastline and the north bay had about 1 1/2 inches, the farther inland more like 1/2 inch of rainfall. that was throughout the entire weekend. so we didn't have as many problems, but there were some spots that had brief, heavy downpours. now that system is moving out of the region. you can see it is clearing southern california and continuing to move off toward the east. we'll have a break from any wet weather for the next few days. it looks really nice as we're getting started. it's all clear. temperatures are on the cool side as we are right now in the

mid-40s. we will see a gradual warm-up and it's going to shape up to be a really nice day, headed for the low 70s in the south bay, and we'll see some upper 60s and low 70s across the bay area today. it's going to be even warmer for tomorrow, with some mid to upper 70s for the second day of this week. so we'll talk more about that. mike has a look at where we can find lower gas prices. >> yeah, like an easter egg hunt. it's about the same as it was last week. i saw a few prices that went up a dime over the last day and a half. the best in the south bay is $4.43 at cupertino car wash on north de anza boulevard. our next price is $4.45, the lowest in concord, valero on willow pass road. on the peninsula, $4.59 at foster city's arco on east hillsdale boulevard. all of these prices are available or we're looking for updates on gasbuddy.com. the roadways, a smooth, easy

good monday morning. right now at 5:14, as we take a look at our day planner for gilroy, we're starting out at 47 degrees, a very chilly start. but then as we go throughout the day, our temperatures head into the upper 60s and low 70s with sunshine. we'll talk about the way the week ends and the drastic change we'll see in a few minutes. yes, this is monday in oakland and i see the drive starting off on the nimitz freeway with a little more traffic over the last few minutes. we'll see where there's slowing so far. none on the nimitz. we'll look a little farther east. good morning. very happy monday to you. it looks like the dow might

cross over 40,000 today for the first time. now, nothing magic happens. there's no prize other than stocks are up and they keep going up. at&t warned over the end much of its customer information had been posted on the dark web, 73 million affected. not clear if it was hackers or a vendor or an accident, but expect to hear more from at&t. mcdonald's, our bob redell is covering the big day for fast food workers in california as the minimum wage in that industry goes up to $20 an hour. today is april 1st and that means it is the first day of the second financial quarter. it also means we get a big jobs report at the end of the week. and april 1st is also april fool's day, which used to be a big deal in high-tech. a lot of companies would make silly announcements, and sometimes those went wrong, which is one of the reasons they don't do it anymore. google was being serious when it announced gmail on the 1st of april in 2004, nobody took them

seriously. shares in tesla dropped something like 7% after elon musk announced the company would file for bankruptcy on april 1st, 2018, completely and totally bankrupt, he tweeted. investors did not find that funny. as for the first quarter, a win. the s&p 500 up 10% in just the first three months of the year, nasdaq up 9%, dow up 5.5%. rubrik is preparing to go public, ready to file confidential numbers for its ipo. the company will likely be valued around $4 billion. rubrik has been working on this for years, waiting for the right time. you remember reddit went public last month to great success, caught the attention of many tech companies. a sign, perhaps, investors are ready for the return of the ipo. rubrik, run by a former venture

us, no matter what -- >> whether it's financial risk or emotional risk or anything else. >> we're in college decision time and we might be listening to that one later. now let's take a live look at the white house this morning, where easter celebrations continue today with the annual white house easter egg roll. about 40,000 people, most of them children, are expected to gather on the south lawn. this year's wooden eggs feature the first pets commander and willow. along with the celebration, there will be the continuation of the first lady's egg-ucation team, they'll have other reading activities for the kids as well. the white house historical association has a virtual scavenger hunt online, which means those of us who can't be there can take a tour of the white house and find hidden facts about the easter egg roll and other events at the white house. this tradition dates back to

1878 when president rutherford b. hayes invited egg rollers to the white house for the first time. a monster debut at the box office this easter weekend. >> what else were we wrong about? >> well -- >> godzilla and kong. >> the new empire. i heard it was pretty good. it topped the charts this weekend, managing to bring in a mighty $192 million globally. now, this is for the first weekend in theatres. that's pretty good globally. the movie now stands at the third highest grossing movie of the year and sits behind kung fu panda, which has made $437 million. the number one spot goes to "dune: part two" with $626 million in ticket sales over five weeks.

>> i think the next debut is godzilla and kung fu panda. >> or those sand creatures on "dune" and they could all have a battle. >> now we're talking. why don't we get freddy and jason? >> spring is when we get the crossover, sunshine, wind, rain. we saw that this weekend. at one point it was nice and sunny and mild, and as soon as you got out to enjoy it, it started pouring down rain. >> were you looking at me in my back yard? >> that was me, too. i think there were a lot of people. we were just trying to get out and enjoy some of those bright, sunny spots we had. and now we're starting out at 50 degrees this morning as we go throughout the day, it goes from upper 40s, low 50s, to low 60s at noon and continuing to warm up from there. hitting a high of 66 degrees in san francisco. we'll be 71 in oakland today. definitely warmer compared to

what we had yesterday and the day before. and then even warmer for tomorrow as our high temperatures peak, reaching into the mid to upper 70s. now, from that point on it starts to cool down. on wednesday we're in the upper 60s, there may be a spot or two with the low 70s like morgan hill. definitely a significant cooldown with some gusty winds, as the cold front blasts in for the middle of the week. now, it looks like at least on wednesday the rain kind of skips around us, but we may have some more rain hitting the bay area as we head toward thursday, as well as friday, and the weekend is looking chilly, with a reinforcing shot of some cool and possibly wet weather going into sunday as well as monday. so we are looking at another dose of some significant rainfall toward the end of the week, with some of our coastal areas possibly getting about 1 1/2 inches, and some of that making it into the east bay. most of us, about 1/2 inch to 1

inch. look at the changes. for an inland spot like walnut creek, highs in the low 70s to only 54 degrees for a high on thursday. i know, we were just, like, oh, i'm so glad it's spring. we're going to have winter weather over the next few days. mike, you have a look at the bay bridge. >> we had the advisory from chp. chp said it was windy on the bay bridge. kari says it's calming down. no problems getting into san francisco, taillights westbound, smooth drive. the disabled vehicle cleared from the toll plaza area. it was eastbound. we do see slowing westbound there, as well as highway 37. there may be a new incident out of antioch. we'll check highway 4. there may be a couple of new incidents for 242 as you travel through pleasant hill. so a lot of activity right now. the northbound side, the earlier crash looks like it cleared.

well, turning to our climate in crisis, a professor in monterey bay is investigating if fog is disappearing from areas along california's coastline. >> professor dan fernandez is calling fog catchers, the devices he uses to understand the water cycle and how fog contributes to the water cycle, and he says its link to climate change remains unclear. >> we're unsure what the impacts of climate change are going to be on many things, including fog. some studies indicate that fog has seen a reduction as a result of climate change. my own studies aren't long enough to be able to say that. i've seen periods of greater fog and periods of lesser fog within the last 12 years. >> during the record-breaking warm temperatures across the globe in 2023, more fog was visible in parts of the bay

spring seems so peaceful, but not in the weather department. >> no, it's been pretty rocky for us here lately. and we had such a big weekend with some spots with heavy rain, some thunderstorms, some times of sunshine. we're seeing things quieting down this morning, and we are now seeing the sky clearing out. so temperatures are dropping, we're right now in the mid to upper 40s, 50 in san francisco. but take a look at our highs for today. no april fool's joke. it is going to be a beautiful day, with highs in the low 70s. we'll talk about more changes coming our way. mike, you have updates for contra costa county. >> we've been tracking this crash 242, opposite your commute. we see slowing in the opposite direction and i think that's the start of the morning commute, just picking up volume. we'll track that. meanwhile, the fire is contra costa boulevard, the fire

department is on scene. no other related issues. we're going to follow that, but i don't think it's a problem. westbound 37, very light build, and no problems for highway 4. the earlier incident we saw in antioch was on a surface street and cleared. across the san mateo bridge, a calm drive. this morning we are learning more about the victims of a plane crash in truckee and the impact they made to entrepreneurs in the bay area. >> "today in the bay"'s ginger conejero saab is live in palo alto. ginger, silicon valley venture capital firm upwest confirms one of the victims was one of their own. >> reporter: that is correct, kris and marcus. their office is behind us. they're based here in palo alto. upwest is a venture capital firm that funds israeli founders looking to break into the american market, and one of the victims of that plane crash is someone who did just that. he helped change the course for

entrepreneurs. this picture was shared with our colleagues at kcra. you can see them in the air alongside investor liron petrushka, who he says loved to fly. liron and his wife naomi were the names of a fatal plane crash in truckee sunday evening. petrushka helped companies get off the ground. petrushka invested in the company envy in 2011. >> it's a big loss for us, the community in the silicon valley. it's big shoes to fill. i hope that all of us will keep on supporting the next generation of founders like he did. >> reporter: upwest also writing in a social media post, liron left a huge imprint on the lives of many of our founders and is remembered for his unwavering commitment to their journey. his honest advice, integrity and empathy exemplify the journey we took as founders and investors

along the way. the ntsb and faa are investigating the crash that happened just before 7:00 saturday night. it took off from colorado in the afternoon. investigators say the single-engine plane was trying to land at the truckee tahoe airport when it crashed onto union pacific railroad tracks. that's near a neighborhood. a witness says the crash was so intensity caused their house to shake. now, the ntsb is asking for the public's help. if you, by chance, have surveillance video in that area, you are asked to reach out to ntsb. this could really help possibly answer questions in the investigation, as well as questions left behind for the couple's three sons. guys, back to you. >> so sad. thank you very much, ginger. well, commercial ships may have an alternative route to enter the port of baltimore after that deadly bridge collapse. city leaders have plans to create a channel near the collapsed francis scott key

bridge, which would allow commercial ships to go through the port. it will be a temporary solution. they don't know when the new channel will open. workers are still cleaning up the area. engineers have begun cutting and lifting the first section of the bridge. they're also working to make sure that side is stable so it's safe for divers to continue searching for the bodies of the four remaining missing workers. happening now, some fast food workers in california must be paid a minimum wage of $20 an hour, an increase that is above the state's minimum wage of $16 an hour. so as you might imagine, there's a lot of confusion about whether certain types of workers will be covered by this. the new state law only applies to chains that have at least 60 locations nationwide and places where customers order and pay for items before eating. the state has said that restaurants which produce and sell bread are exempt, but not if the dough is pre-made

elsewhere. restaurants inside grocery stores are exempt, restaurants in airports, hotels, event centers, theme parks, also exempt. former employment development department director thinks this is going to take some time to clarify those gray areas in the new law. >> i think there's a great deal of confusion within the restaurant industry on who is covered and who is not. but there's clearly a segment of workers and it's a large segment in california that are covered. >> employees who think they're not being paid this minimum wage have the option to file a claim through the state's labor commissioner. well, santa clara valley health care is preparing for a systemwide nurses strike. it is expected to last three days starting tomorrow. now, the picket lines will be at three of the county's hospitals, o'connor hospital in san jose, st. louise regional in gilroy

and santa clara valley medical center. the nurses are calling the increases to staffing pay, benefits and security. santa clara valley health care says patient care will not be impacted. >> clearly it's very disruptive to our typical patient services, but we feel as though we have made the maximum effort to ensure that our services can continue to the community who we care for. >> now, it says it has spent $20 million to cover the strike, bringing in more than 1,000 contracted nurses. hospitals began training fill-in nurses yesterday. some patient appointments have been rescheduled until after the strike. as far as contract negotiations, santa clara valley health care says that it has been generous in terms of a new contract. it is 5:38 now. new data shows something that people trying to make it in the bay know all too well.

san jose and san francisco are among the top ten cities in the nation where it is cheaper to rent than it is to buy. this is across the u.s. new numbers from realtor.com show that in february paying rent in san francisco was 96% less expensive than a monthly mortgage payment. when it comes to san jose, the difference was nearly 87%. i spoke with economic research analyst for realtor.com, hanna jones, who explains when renting is a good idea. >> renting versus buying is such a personal decision based on your household and your needs. if you're a household that could afford to buy and you're in a situation where you really need a new home, you could afford to buy one, your family is expanding, it can still be a good investment to purchase a home, especially we don't expect the housing market to get much more affordable this year. so if you need a new home this year and you can afford to do it, it can still be a good decision. however, a lot of people are in

a situation where you can't afford to purchase a home. in that situation, renting is a great option. you absolutely should not get yourself beyond your means to take on a mortgage. >> you can watch our full interview coming up during our "today in the bay" streaming newscast at 8:00 this morning. you can watch live on roku and on nbcbayarea.com. a commuter alert for people along the central coast. so authorities are telling drivers to avoid highway 1 after part of the road collapsed. it happened saturday as heavy rain moved through that area. now, the collapse is near rocky creek bridge, about 17 miles south of monterey. at this point it's unclear when the highway will be repaired. caltrans says the highway is closed, but chp will be escorting residents who show proof of residency into that area. california state parks have temporarily closed all parks in big sur for day use and camping, because of the road closure

there. now, we have a full list of the parks impacted. you see them there on your screen. officials say that anyone who had a camping reservation will receive a full refund. kari, the good thing, crews have a break in the rain for repairs right now. >> yeah, they had about 2 inches of rainfall in that area throughout the weekend and it was still active yesterday. now as we get a look at what we're seeing across the bay area, across the region, high pressure is rebuilding, the rain is moving out. we're calming down. it's going to be a while before this next system comes in, which we're expecting late on wednesday into thursday. so we do have a couple of days of some sunshine, and also warmer weather. we're starting out clear this morning in san jose, and a look at our trend and what to expect throughout the day, going from mid-40s to upper 60s and low 70s. we'll want to make some time to get outside and enjoy. if you didn't really get that chance over the weekend. we are headed for 73 in napa and

six-figure salary is what you need to make in order to buy a home in nearly half of the country. a new study from bank rate finds home buyers must earn nearly $111,000 a year to afford a median priced home, which is roughly $402,000. home buyers need a higher salary here in california and hawaii and d.c. and massachusetts and in washington state. since the start of 2020, the annual income that you need to afford a typical home has gone up nearly 50%. a republican congressman says the impeachment efforts against president joe biden are not getting anywhere. >> scott mcgrew joining us. representative don bacon says the committees investigating the president found nothing. >> that's right. no high crimes or misdemeanors, the bar you need to reach if you're going to impeach. don bacon making those comments on our "meet the press" on easter morning. >> well, right now the lawyers on the committee that i talk to

say there's not a specific crime, and you need that for a high crime or misdemeanor. i think the investigation merited an investigation to put the facts out, let the public look at it and make a determination. i think it's going to be transparent. we're in an election year. let's put the facts on the table. when i talked to the lawyers on the committee staff, they say at this point there's not a specific crime that's been committed. >> those committees were authorized by then speaker of the house mccarthy, who was trying to hold on to had is job. he did not. replaced by speaker johnson, of course, who himself is facing pushback over his cooperation with democrats and a rumored plan to put a bill to support ukraine to a vote. bacon spoke about that as well, saying it's possible johnson could also lose his speakership. >> it's possible. i'm not going to deny it. we have one or two people that are not -- they're not team players. they would rather enjoy the

limelight, the social media, and with the one-seat majority, and we'll end up with a three or four-seat majority after special elections, but it's a very narrow majority. >> bacon, along with traditional republicans, support aid to ukraine as it fights to oust the russian army from its territory. other news, the prosecution in the donald trump hush money case in new york is asking the judge to broaden his gag order to include his own family. trump continues to attack the judge's daughter online. that gag order currently restricts trump from talking about witnesses, potential members of the jury and court staff. he's free to criticize the judge and the prosecutor, and he does. trump's first posting on easter morning was happy easter to all, including those people i completely and totally despise. mr. trump has until thursday to post the $175 million bond in the other new york case, reduced from more than $450 million.

he still has to pay the $450 million if his appeal is denied. and a congressman from michigan is walking back comments he made at a town hall meeting some weeks ago caught on tape, when he said gaza should be treated like hiroshima and nagasaki. >> we shouldn't be spending a dime on humanitarian, and it should be like nagasaki and hiroshima. >> someone posted it to social media, saying, listen and share. representative tim wahlberg said in a statement it was a metaphor to show that israel and ukraine should end their wars quickly in order to avoid further bloodshed, not that israel should use nuclear weapons on gaza. he maintains the people of gaza should not receive any humanitarian aid. 5:50 now. new this morning, within the next few months a hospital in boston will start using drones to deliver medical care to

patients at home. mass general brigham expects the program to launch by june with drones taking medicine, equipment and lab work to patients' doorsteps. african countries are already doing something similar. we're not aware of this happening yet with hospitals in the bay area, but zach doherty is trying to change that. he is an attorney based in colorado who works on behalf of drone companies working to get faa approval, which could still be years away for many places. >> when people start realizing that these drone deliveries on the medical side can truly save lives, blood transfusions, for example, i think there's going to be a greater push when the public becomes more aware of these benefits. there's going to be a bigger push to adapt this technology as fast as possible. >> if you're looking for an example, in rwanda they've used drones to distribute blood to rural areas. the drones are built by a

company called zip line, which is based here in the bay area. well, lopez versus lopez returns to nbc tomorrow night for the start of season 2. mayan lopez costars with her real life dad. if you've been following this, you know the duo were estranged for a number of years. mayan hopes that audiences can find the rumor and some of the inspiration in their reunion. i spoke with her about this particular topic and she shared how she was able to merge her real life experiences into those of her character. >> these characters that you grow to love go through the same challenges, you're able to see yourself with them, and to be able to connect. especially during filming in front of a live audiences, some of their reactions, you can feel it in the room and you can feel the impact, and it only makes our performances more personal and better. >> they say art mimics life.

"lopez versus lopez" airs tomorrow night at 8:00 right here on nbc bay area. so it is spring, we are in full spring mode, which means that you are seeing everything in the weather department. >> yes, it's a little bit of sierra snow, it's a little bit of warm weather. it's a little bit of rain. so, yes, definitely a lot of changes coming in. it will be a pleasant afternoon today. just enjoy. it will be sunny with a light wind, even warmer tomorrow. for this time of year, we're headed for the mid-70s, so that's well above what we typically see. but then for the rest of the week there will be a big drop in temperatures and then the rain comes back with the wind. we'll be back to winter. but with spring comes allergies. let me show you, if you're allergic to something, this is what it may be. oak, pine, sycamore trees are high, mold is moderate. so with a little bit more rain on the way, we may see more of those mold spores also developing over the next few days. but looking at our temperatures,

this is going to be nice. up to 66 in san francisco, 73 in hayward, and upper 60s for livermore. some low 70s for much of the north bay. as you've probably seen on the bottom of the screen, that seven-day forecast shows that it's going to be very chilly by the end of the week. changes coming with another cold front coming in. that looks to stay dry at least for wednesday, but thursday rain is back. that continues into friday with some spotty showers. it's going to be another chilly weekend as well, with a potential of rain. so looking at the next several days and how much rain we may see, as this active weather pattern continues, the areas in red for the north bay and along the coastline could see about an inch and a half of rainfall and that could make it into parts of the east bay as well, with rain and potentially even some thunderstorms to wrap up the week as our temperatures go from low to mid-70s to 50s by the end of the week. so we're not yet putting away those warm sweaters. mike, you're seeing a

5:58 this morning. turning to our climate in crisis, a professor in mant ray bay is investigating whether fog is disappearing from california's coastline. >> cal state east bay professor dan fernandez is using a so-called fog catcher to understand whether climate change is impacting the water cycle and how fog contributes to that. >> we're unsure of what the impacts of climate change are going to be on many things, including fog. some studies indicate that fog has seen a reduction as a result of climate change. my own studies aren't long enough to be able to say that. i've seen periods of greater fog and periods of lesser fog within the last 12 months. >> we certainly saw more fog
