tonight u.s. postal inspectors are offering a reward of up to 100 and thousand dollars to catch this thief. >> reporter: u.s. postal inspector is showing surveillance videos of what happened on march 2nd. the video shows a suspect pulling out a weapon then demanding the postal worker turnover their mailbox keys. the suspect snatches the keys against -- thankfully she wasn't hurt but attacks on social workers -- postal workers are happening more often. >> on that date of the robbery in oakland, there was also a robbery and tracy.

this video from last month shows these using keys to open up mailboxes on 18th street in san francisco but in this case postal inspectors quickly arrived on scene to make the arrest. >> the thieves are hoping they can use the keys to open bigger groups of mailboxes and steal mail from customers. >> reporter: the suspect could save -- face robbery charges. and with a $150,000 reward being after -- offered, postal workers hope he is caught. >> reporter: in oakland, nbc bay area news. san jose hopes search is much faster and without the controversy. leaders held one of seven

community input meetings, a chance for people to let their voices be heard relating to s jp and the future of the department. there is also an online survey open through march 22nd. all this comes as the current chief will retire at the end of the month. a tense day for parents and rodents in the south bay. administrators at willow glen high school got a tip that a student may have a weapon on campus. a shelter in place was ordered and police were called. officers did find a student with a pellet gun and they did arrest him. no shots were fired but it led to a lot of anxiety on campus so counselors are going to be on hand to stop what students if they needed -- need it. federal hate crime charges

being faced by a -- the driver was arrested today. the incident happened on october 26th of last year a couple weeks after the israel hamas war began. in a statement tonight u.s. attorney general merrick garland said "no in this country should live in fear because of how they worship or where they come from, the justice department will aggressively prosecute those for trait hate field violence motivated by anti-semitism or by bias of any kind. tomorrow morning senate majority leader chuck schumer is promising to deliver a major speech focusing on a pathway to peace in the middle east and a two state solution for israel and palestinians. this comes as much of the world is observing the monthly -- muslim holy month of ramadan.

this teddy bear to remind him of his 2 1/2-year-old nephew who already lost his mother now needs his father back. >> we are just trying to hug him and show him love and support, but at the end of the day it's a 2 1/2-year-old boy who has been hurt by his parents for more than five months now. >> michael's visit to the bay area came on the same day hundreds of protesters poured into several parts of sfo's international terminal calling for a cease-fire gaza. protesters parked cars outside the terminal and the demonstration forced the airport to find alternate routes for passengers trying to make their flights. it lasted about three hours. according to gaza's health ministry more than 31,000 palestinians had been killed. >> we are here today to remind the world of what is happening. >> i'm not against them. i hate to see anyone suffer and the fact that innocent

at least 16 people were hurt in an explosion in southern california at an fbi training facility in irvine. deputies were using one of the buildings for exercise.

paramedics rushed in, all 16 of the people in the hospital, 13 of the injuries were related to the noise the blast, to others hurt their legs and another person suffered a back injury. clock police announced the arrest of a couple accused of a string of bank robberies. there they are. brandon lopez and tamara busch were arrested for six robberies or attempted robberies and in each case lopez would hand a note to the teller which read "i need all the money in both of your drawers, be quick, no games." >> i know it sounds like a movie , it is not a movie. >> reporter: investigators say

hard to believe he is the cal head coach. the golden bears led entire way until the final 30 seconds. sanford in the dark jerseys and up stealing the ball here and michael jones it's the game- tying shot. cal had trouble just getting it in and stanford ends up with it and made it 69-69 so we go to overtime and then stanford got hot. brandon angle with the three- pointer here and stanford overcomes an 18 point deficit, they beat cal and the cardinal now advances to the quarterfinals tomorrow against washington state. finally 87-67. st. mary's will find out their seating this sunday.
