and, of course, i'll see you each weeknight for "nbc nightly news." i'm lester holt. good evening. right now at 11:00, dejected, depressed, and just plain down. the faces of the players say it all, the warriors failed to close out. the whole team now heading forces the seventh showdown in sacramento. they keep that playoff run a life. it is the tale of two cities, 80 miles to the east of us, a totally different scene. fans celebrating outside of the golden 1 center, where it will be do or die on sunday. here is something they didn't want to see tonight. the kings liking that beam in sacramento. the kings did what they haven't of the series, they beat the warriors at home.

now the sears is tied, 3-3. gia vang is at chase center with so many disappointed warrior fans. >> fans began streaming out of chase center with 3:45 left in the fourth quarter, the warriors down 19 points, and now the series is headed to a game seven. >> it wasn't warriors and six after all. no streamers symbolized taking this series just a stream of disappointed warriors fans. >> it was a good great game by the kings, but to be honest the warriors-- they were really bad today. >> they can do better. there is a 30% chance somehow that they mess it up, because that is what the season has been like. >> they came out, they stayed out all game. >> warriors and seven. >> warriors and seven, but a very disappointing day. >> their hands looks like they were made of something, i forgot, butter or something. >> an hour before tip-off, the tickets ranged $250 to $400 per

opens at 11:00 a.m., tip-off, 12:30, it is open to the public, the game will be displayed on that square foot outdoor video board. a lot went wrong for the warriors tonight. anthony florez is that chase center, joining us with players reaction in about 15 minutes. we are following breaking news, where fires are working on a warehouse fire in the hunters point neighborhood. the driver along 101 shows flames on the roof of the city lights sf showroom, and fire crews, working to put them out. crews are trying to keep the flames away from a nearby paint store, being urged to avoid that area. we know no injury so far, but not clear how this started. again, fire crews are right on the scene. lots of fire crews there. we will continue to bring you updates as soon as we get them. across the bay tonight, anger and bitterness, not with the a's, but with the a's owner, fans protesting at the game. this is the first home game since the team announced that deal in las vegas.

here is nbc's tom just that. >> this was the first chance for a's fans to show the team and ownership how they feel about the team being uprooted and moved to nevada. a group of about two dozen a's fans showed their displeasure with the news that the 25 have a binding agreement on 49 acres near the las vegas strip, where they plan to build a new stadium. >> it has been got wrenching. >> reporter: oakland fans have seen this before when their nfl raiders moved to las vegas in the warriors moved across the bay to san francisco, and they are not ready to give up on their a's just yet. >> i am hope there is one last ditch effort to have them stay in oakland. >> reporter: protesters specifically target 25 owner, john fisher on their sign. they say fisher intentionally sabotaged the team to justify a move to las vegas by raising season ticket prices and getting proven talent from the a's roster and driving home attendance to just over 11,000 fans per game.

>> absolutely. i do. >> he is purposefully making the team lose. they doubled the ticket prices and expect people to show up and drop that bombshell news last week. >> the president told nbc bay area, the team has been eyeing las vegas for more than two years and they are working with the city and state of nevada to help fund the project. fans are waiting to see if nevada will play along and reject the tax credit from the state before they move. >> i still have hope. this is not the first time oakland has said they are buying property other than oakland. >> and prepared for the worst, but i'm hoping for the best. >> reporter: we did reach out to the head of a's baseball communication to get reaction, especially to that allegation that the team is intentionally being sabotaged to justify the move, but they did not get back to us. in oakland, tom johnson, nbc

bay area news. >> thank you, tom. things will look a little different on the streets of san francisco , most especially in the downtown. we have a timeline for a brand- new pant plan to bring in the national guard and chp to help crackdown on fentanyl trafficking. nbc bay area, velena jones has what it will look like. >> we will send a strong message to those who are perpetrating these crimes that are holding communities hostage. we will do everything we can to work together, to make sure that there is accountability. >> a new approach to a long- term problem, having a growing crisis on the streets of san francisco. now, from chp of the national guard, local city leaders are hoping accountability will lead to saving lives. >> people are fed up with it, we are fed up with it, and our attention needs to be on people who are causing problems.

>> reporter: the joint effort, directed by governor newsom with drug rings focus on the job market. intend to see a lot more chp officers in those neighborhoods, the city has seen the highest death rates from overdoses, don't expect to see any national guard troops. we are told they will work in the background and working together intelligence and drug rings. the plan comes after police say they seized over 85 pound of fentanyl in the first four months of the year. >> is a public health issue. so, we would much prefer a public health response. we have a situation where it is really difficult for people to access treatment. >> reporter: jennifer the coalition and worries new efforts will mimic the 70s were on drug approach, and disproportionately criminalize people of color. >> it will drive up the jail population, and all of these have a negative effect on the individuals involved, but can't

actually address the issues. >> reporter: the mayor says the committee remains prioritize to the addiction treatment. leaders say they are trying to find an arrest the major drug dealer. >> this is different. this is program services, second chances, opportunities, but also accountability, and what has been missing has been accountability, and that is what this is all about. >> the city will start to see more chp officers on the street, starting monday, on the launch of the operation. this is an ongoing partnership, with no specific end date. in france and san francisco, velena jones, nbc bay area, news. a security guard in custody tonight after a deadly shooting at one of san francisco's busiest shopping districts. the security guard was arrested, shortly after that shooting i thought outside of the walgreens. a medical examiner has identified the victim as 24- year-old, china brown. a witness says she knew that victim.

kept coming back. >> lighting candles for this 26- year-old. >> it was more than a coworker, he was a friend. >> we all miss him terribly. >> reporter: a loss prevention employee at home depot in pleasanton. police say he died after confronting 32-year-old as you try to shoplift. they say she was later arrested with a getaway driver in oakland. >> i feel very sad, i don't know what to say. i just couldn't even sleep during the night. i was thinking about him. this young man should have a very bright future. >> a case that motivated those who never met him before to attend and even organizes vigil. >> different people have different kinds of gravity. >> reporter: tonight, many shared their memories of blake and sent him one last message. >> i appreciate him so much, his friendship meant the world

nearby paint ststore. ththat could d be susuper probl with thosose flammablbles in t so, atat this poinint, ththe be idea, don'n't go near ththis ar no injuries, but again, lots of fire crews outside. this is a dangerous situation, so you just steer clear. once we find more information we will bring it to. this might make your stomach turn. rats urine dripping down the walls and ceiling tiles collapsing. that is how teachers at an oakland middle school described conditions on campus. >> they say the school district is not listening to their concerns. nbc bay area's natalie vera has the story. >> welcome to united for success academy in oakland. were teachers say they are seeing rat feces on school papers. and where classes are getting interrupted by night. michael rodriguez is a seventh- grade teacher here and says they have tried tackling the problem with mouse traps that they have to cleanup themselves.

parents are now worried about their children eating and studying in these conditions. but the cleanliness concerns don't stop there. >> on the wall, they tried to claim the urine that came down, and it damaged the paint on the wall. >> those are urine stains from p dripping down at the ceiling from a second-story urinal. teacher say they have complained to oakland unified school district several times, but they are still waiting for repairs. for now, no one can use the urinal upstairs. this monday, these steve ceiling tiles and a six glade classroom collapsed. teacher say unfortunately he didn't have been during class hours, but kids are worried. >> our school is falling apart. >> now parents are concerned about learning that the last special day class of the middle school will be canceled next year. this mother says her daughter will be forced to attend a school further away, where she

will have to take two buses to get there. we reached out to the school district, but have not yet heard back. reporting in oakland, natalie vera, nbc, bay area news. despite a strike threat from the teachers, this video is from a large rally on wednesday, a day after the teacher's union voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike as soon as next week if a contract isn't reached. a leader sent a message to parents the school will be in session as usual on monday and the district will be at the bargaining table with the union leaders over the weekend. we will continue to follow this story closely, and we will bring you an update once that agreement is reached. while controversy swirls around, ai implementations funding continues to pour in. san francisco-based open ai just closed its most recent funding round. according to tech crunch, the company raised more than $10 billion.

most of that investment comes from microsoft. the investors are buzzing about open ai, primarily because of their controversial, but wildly popular chat gpt conversation ai model. here's something that caught our attention, an ai clone, good enough to fool family members. a journalist with the wall street journal recently enlisted ai companies to create a clone that both looked and talked like her. >> tiktok femme, it is joanna stern, your expert. >> that is an ai version of joanna stern. she created this avatar, she used chat gpt to create the script of what to say, but stern took her experiment much further. she had her clone stand-in for her, talk to her bank and even chat with family members. scott spoke with a stanford professor today who spoke with this and says now, it is harder than ever to tell what is real and what is fake. >> well, we can't stop technology at this point.

anything that cap can happen will happen. it is difficult to enforce. you can't say stop using this technology, stop using this application. that is going to be difficult to do. >> it is exciting and sobering at the same time. the company said its primary customers use it for things like corporate training videos. california is taking a big step towards cleaner air in the future. state regulator approval today to ban the sale of big rigs. that transition requires big rigs and local delivery and government to move to zero emission engines by 2035. local buses must be zero emission by 2039. all of the vehicles covered by the regulation must transition, by 2042. now, truckers say the goal, just unrealistic. environmentalists say it is key to reducing smog, they are the first of their kind in the entire world.

okay, the big melt is happening as we speak in yosemite. the powerful waterfalls racing down. coming down like thunder down those cliffs, and they will get even more intense. that is why much of yosemite valley is closed for at least the next six days. we have been talking about flooding potential in the river. it could reach flood stage this weekend. other parts of the valley also concerned. let's bring our chief meteorologist, jaff ranieri. what my change next weekend? >> that is exactly right. we are looking at a colder storm that would actually bring some higher parts this year, potentially a foot of snow and colder temperatures to help slow down that flooding threat through the foothills and the central valley. right now, outside of our sky camera network you can see that from rolling into san francisco. that will be with us tomorrow morning at the coast with a spotty drizzle in some areas of low clouds inland through the afternoon. we get in on some sunshine and some high clouds for most of

the bay, and if you are headed to the beaches, be ready for some fog. let's get you a full look at that microclimate forecast on this friday night, and we will shakedown what we can expect as we had through this weekend. it will be nice to get here for tomorrow, temperatures are going to be pretty comfortable to start, widespread 50s across the bay area, that will leave us at san francisco, 51 and for those of you in the east bay 53. daytime highs for tomorrow, that fog in the coast will drop 3-6 degrees, but this is still some amazing weather for the end of april. look at these temperatures, pretty much perfect, down here in the south bay. 79 in san jose. you can see right here through the east bay, check it out, 79, vallejo, 82 in pleasanton. we got that ocean breeze which will leave us at a cool 68 in oakland. peninsula, 76 in palo alto and anywhere near the beaches, make sure the layer up. 57 here in half moon bay.

in downtown san francisco we are back to the 50s and the 60s. maybe you are heading up to one country, we have 81 in sonoma, 80 in santa rosa, 80 in mill valley. so, dry all weekend long, and by next week our storm system will drop down and hang out for the entire week. not only colder temperatures in the 60s, but a chance of rain, even some sierra snow. let's see what we are seeing about the rain chances, monday through next week, nothing big, but we will see a test to a half inch of rainfall. then, by next friday night and saturday we could see a quarter to an half inch. quarter weekly totals of 3/10 to 1 inch. so, a sharp turn from what we have seen this week, and sierra snow, look at this. looking at a foot there for some of the highest elevations next week. seven-day forecast, the other thing i want you to see is wind monday, 20-3 miles per hour,

welcome back. i'm anthony florescent shea center in san francisco. this series is going to a winner take all game seven, after the warriors fail to take care of business at home, against the sacramento kings. >> warriors. >> the warriors were nearly unbeatable in the postseason a chase center, going 13-1 before their loss to the kings in game six. the warriors were playing catch up early, and klay thompson got it going.

he scored 16 of his 22 points in the first half. but the key bench was the difference in this one. sacramento subs outscored the warriors bench 52-21, led by malik monk, who dropped a team- high of 28 points. stefan curry tries to lead a charge, had a game-high 29, but the kings were feeling it from behind the yard. they got 17 three-pointers. sacramento blows at golden state, 118, 99, and now they are facing a must win. >> they came in and earned the victory, and now we have got to regroup and get ready for game seven. >> want to make sure everybody is on the same page about what we are trying to do out there. so, we had a fun 36 hours or whatever it is to get ready for the game. mentally, vocally, physically, everybody getting they stressed , we've got a be ready for it.
