pleasant one as well here in fremont. a live look past truck scales. a few trucks pulling off of the freeway. maps, registering sensors through the area. vehicles, a chance to have one or two slow vehicles. a crash reported north of there, just north of decoto road folks making their way to dumbarton bridge. a crash, car went off a roadway, hitting something a large rock as well. vehicles reported on the side as well. there may be debris to be cleared. for now worry about the flashing lights and folks there, not a lot of slowing. watch activity through fremont. the rest of the bay good either side of the bay. 101 and 280 clear heading up to or from the city in san francisco. a warning from the cdc, yesterday's first confirmed ebola case in the u.s. probably will not be the last one. unidentify man is in isolation

in dallas. he flew from liberia to dallas to visit family. passengers' temperatures are taken before boarding planes in liberia and again when they land in the u.s. the man had no symptoms during travels, meaning likely not contagious and passengers are most likely not in danger. >> i think sitting next to the person on the plane or sitting in the same cabin of the plane particularly if the person's asymptomatic i don't think is a concern. >> a bit of relief there. cdc concerned about the people the man was in contact after he became sick. the virus spread through contact with bodily fluids, not flew air. the agency has a team in dallas tr tr tracking down the man's contacts. hospitals in the bay area are on alert urging professionals to be watching for patients with symptoms and travel history to west africa. tune into the "today" show this morning for a live interview with the director of the cdc at

7:00 a.m. into starting today, victims of the earthquake can go to several locations to pick up cash to help with food and temporary shelter. napa valley community foundation is giving away $350,000 in cash for people who need help right now. the money came from community donations including $10 million gift from the napa valley vinters. other nonprofits will screen applications for larger grants. san jose police officer once accused of rape is facing a new charge. officer graves will be in court, accused of walking out of a gilroy safeway with a bottle of vodka 2:30 in the morning. officials say he tried to buy the bottle but the cashier wouldn't sell it to him. he reportedly threw down money and stormed out. charges with the alleged rape of undocumented woman but was out on bail when investigators say

the vodka incident happened. the familiar life the giants fan beaten in 2011 filed a new lawsuit against the dodgers. bryan stow's attorney is suing the team, claiming it tried to recoup $3 million in insurance payments from stow for medical care following the beating. the dodgers and his insurer demanding money be paid out of $18 million awarded to the family over the summer. stow suffered a traumatic brain injury beaten outside of dodger stadium three years ago. expected to need treatment for the rest of his life. in july, jury order the dodgers to pay stow nearly $15 million, $14 million for economic losses because stow will never work again. $1.4 million for pain and suffering. caltrain will launch a new page dedicated to suicide prevention. local resources for people in the bay area with thoughts of suicide as well as crisis hot

line. on average, 13 people die every year on caltrain's tracks. caltrain hopes the new page will cut that number down to zero. pg&e's testing a high-tech device that could detect leaks early to save lives. 10:30 workers will test a leak detection tool, created using the same technology as nasa mars rover. the technology's laser-based and relays information to a tablet about possible gas leak locations. if pg&e likes the way it works, the device will be used with other gas leak detection technologies. the utility says it hopes two will help it provide safer, more reliable energy service. the city of san jose says the police substation empty since built is finally going to open the city's working on hiring 28 community service officers to use that space. construction on the substation ended four years ago but the city could never afford to open

it because of budget and staffing issues. a soft opening planned for today. community officer are trained by the police department to do a variety of things like taking reports and responding to minor calls. 4:36. some people live in unincorporated areas of saratoga could be kicked off their land if city council approves resolution to annex land today. council considering annexing more than 200 acres of unincorporated properties in canyon drive and red bury drive. this summer officials had an open house to talk about the possibility of annexation and 60 people showed up. let's get your wednesday morning started off right. a bit of a cooler air this morning but christina loren joins us now is going to tell us, i assume, don't get too accustomed to that. >> that's right, especially over the next couple of days. this going to be a short-lived heat wave. by next week we will be talking about a whole new weather pattern. good morning to you.

this morning, waking up with widespread 50s, 40s on the map. in half moon bay, for example, an indication of no blanket of low clouds, completely clear for all across the bay area this morning. on the breezy side. temperatures today are going to be warm. in fact, you're going to notice the difference, about 10, 15 degrees warmer than where we hit yesterday. that's 90 for the north bay. 89 today in san jose. that's a warm day. 82 east shore. tri-valley at 91. here's the deal. tomorrow we're rivaling temperature records and expecting winds to shift offshore and tracking that transfor rain. here's mike and your drive. >> one of the hotter spots in the bay area, 580 through tri-valley. right now dublin area, easy, light. this is light. 4:37, typically see this number of headlights. let's look at the speeds through the area. not westbound 580 that's the problem, it's eastbound where we

see slowing, i've marked the arrow arrow out of livermore through the altamont pass. road crews cleared up earlier but we still see the typical amount of slowing. i'll continue to follow that. no problems into the area. commute westbound 580 smoothly as rest of the bay. look at the green all over the bay, including to and from the bay bridge. the bay bridge itself, no problem as far as visibility. crystal clear view, getting into the city. howard between 3rd and 4th closed all week because of oracle open it won't reopen until the evening saturday. keep that in mind. looking at golden gate bridge, smooth drive. light volume of traffic. with warmer weather, more motorcycles and a lot of crashes yesterday. thankfully no major injuries but a note, watch out, harder to see, lower visibility, take an extra half second. >> mesmerizing shot. we could learn more about

4:42. residents of a small california town waking up in shock this morning after their mayor was shot to death by his own wife. this is video of 45-year-old daniel crespo, the mayor of bell garden. the investigators say yesterday the mayor and his wife levette were arguing in a bedroom where their 19-year-old son intervened. >> the father, daniel sr., became physical with his son, reports he punched him in the face. shortly after the wife, levette, shot the mayor multiple times in the upper torso. >> the wife was questioned for hours, but later released. she's not been charged. the couple was from brooklyn and described as high school sweethearts who married in 1986. they also have a 26-year-old daughter. daniel crespo was elected to city council in 2001. the army veteran who made federal prosecutor called a danger to the president will be

back in washington, d.c., courtroom today. omar gonzalez, accuse of jumping over the white house fence and running into the white house armed with a knife two weeks ago, indicted on federal charges yesterday. if convict he faces up to ten years in prison. new evidence this morning that white house incidents, that wasn't the only time security was compromised. a new "the washington post" report says when president obama was in atlanta, a security contractor with a gun, mind you, stood next to him in an elevator and the man was never screened. lawmakers grilled the head of the secret service about the recent findings. >> i wish to god you -- you protected the white house like you are protecting your reputation here today. >> director, julie pierson, admits agents did not follow protocol. 4:44. news na the ebola virus arrived in the u.s. helped out medical companies, sending stocks soaring overnight. courtney reagan live at cnbc

world headquarters with details for us. good morning. >> good morning. let's keep watch of shares of biotech companies because several firms working on drugs to treat the ebola virus spiking last night on news of the first confirmed u.s. case. biggest mover jumped 30% after hours. the fda allowed the company to use experimental drug on patients with the virus. tkm ebola was the drug taken by the u.s. doctor infected working in lie beer yap he recovered returning to the u.s. for treatment. wall street, futures are mixed after stocks ended lower to close out september. for the month, doubt had its worst percentage drop since july. the nasdaq, worst drop since april. we'll get data today on private sector job growth, manufacturing and construction spending. the dow falling 28 points. the nasdaq down 12 to 4493. amazon and disney may be friends again. reports say the companies are close to settling two-month

students whose parents signed consent form. health officials are targeting kids because they're major spreaders of the flu. leaders of the program hope it will expand to other parts of the country. first phase of san francisco's water bottle ban goes into effect today. under the legislation passed this year, venders will not be allowed to sell bottles of water up to 21 ounces on public property. the 16 ounces are now illegal. food trucks and outdoor events exempt until 2016. the goal to expand on all events by property 2018. minimum wage in berkeley going up today. october 1st of next year the minimum wage will rise to $11 an hour, october 1st of 2016, it will make the final jump to $12.53 an hour. an investigation under way after minority students in san mateo and santa clara will put

into math classes below their level. yesterday state leader as tended a meeting in east palo alto to address that issue. it follows a report that found minority students are being asked to repeat algebra once enter high school though the students passed the class in eighth grade. the report says math misplacement was done with minority students in disproportionate number over white students. >> it happens because some teachers, for various reasons, have a bias towards kids of color, particularly latino and african-american kids. >> some believe the study shows schools are holding back minority students from achieving higher education. they will hold more meetings to address the issue. 4:49. on your wednesday morning, the a's come up short. a tough loss on the road, to the world series.

a new man in charge of the raiders for the time being. >> a day after firing dennis allen, oakland announces tony sparano will take over as interim head coach. spending four years as head coach in miami for the dolphins and tells us, he's ready for another chance. raiders have a bye this week and will take on the chargers on the 12th. at&t park this morning, giants, not here, they're in pittsburgh for the wild card game but the team will hold a watch party for fans. viewing party will take place at at&t park 4:00 tonight and tonight's game starts at 5:00. madison bum garden on the hill. >> the ace is on the mound. giants are the only bay area team left in the playoff. a tough night for the a's who coughed up 7-3 lead going into the bottle to of the eighth. kansas city rallied and celebrated. tied it up in the 9th and threatened in the 10th and 11th.

headlights. we have two of the cash lanes open on the left side approach. typically we have four. that will be changing. they typically open those 5:00. no problems now other than that backup. watch which lane you pick. getting into the city yesterday a big backup until 1:00 in afternoon. that oracle open might be adding to the traffic coming across the bay. watch for heavier flow again today at the toll plaza. north bay san rafael, southbound 101, clusters of cars, not a big issue. and no delays through the area. again, a couple of days of fog. clear view for 101 down past the 580 split and toward the golden gate bridge which is crystal clear. smooth drive. highway 37 at the top 0 the screen, we have a smooth flow of traffic but already see sensors flowing a tad bit 16 miles from vallejo and sears point. volume starts to build there. westbound highway 4 out of antioch. arrow marked eastbound, we saw a
