down of where the pipelines lie. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. you can pick up a local paper in any of the communities throughout the bay area and see a headline similar to this. we are in stanford and palo alto and stanford does have risky pipelines on the campus. a spokesperson from stanford said they don't want people to be alarmed and some of the pg&e pipeline top 100 pipelines run through campus. a 6,000 foot section runs under sarah boulevard between page mill and sand hill road. this is along the southwestern edge of campus near 280. four segments of the stretch mame at 56 and 60, 61, and 62 on the list of pipelines because according to pg&e they had the potential corrosion. the lines are not in immediate need of repair and instead they

are just monitoring them. the university is concerned and a spokesperson telling stanford daily they want to meet to find out more about why the pipelines are on the skpls what has pg&e done to improve them. the area is so populated. at number 14 is another line across the bay. it's in another highly populated area. we are talking about three mile long pipeline in fremont. in santa clara, pipes are on the list. this is in milpitas and another on ranch drive. up north in the north bay, four marin county pipelines under scrutiny. there is an 1800 foot pipeline in san rafael that runs through a suburban area. if you want to find out if you live near a top 100 riskiest

pipeline, you can go to the front page of nbcbayarea.com and i will get you the information you need. live in palo alto, today in the bay. >> oakland police hope to have a sketch out of a man they say rob and sexually assaulted two women in the lake merit neighborhood. the attacks happened sunday evening, but they won't specify what time or where they happened. police say both assaults happened in secluded areas and both victims were on the way home. police think that the same person might be responsible in both cases and think he was armed. they are asking people in the area to be more aware of surroundings and stay in well-lit areas. paper oakland could be the next city to get uniform cameras for the police officers. this is an update to the story we brought you last week. the council will vote on a measure that purchases 350 of the cameras. the police chief said the move

would benefit both officers and the people of oakland. >> what are it allows me to do is watch the interaction. make sure that we are could go the correct things and obeying the laws. if we get a complaint at a given point, it allows me to show the citizens was it occurred. this is the procedures and why we support officers. the officer did the correct thing. >> officers would have to turn on the cameras when they pull people over or make investigative stops. >> meg whitman said she will spend her own money to get her issues passed. to balance the budget, state workers need to take pension cuts. if they don't, she is willing to place a proposal on the state ballot. the former ebay ceo said ideally she would raise money, but she would consider putting her own money behind the measure if she had to. democratic candidate for

the single car accident. at least one person is dead. the car caught on fire after hitting a tree. we continue to work the scene and bring you more information as soon as possible this morning. stunning news from the nfl. one of the denver broncos is dead. kenny kinley was found dead in his apartment yesterday. police think the 23-year-old killed himself. mckinley was on the injured reserve list this year and he played eight games last year and returned seven kickoffs. the senate could vote to overturn the don't ask don't tell policy. senators are supposed to vote to end debate on a $725 billion bill. included in the bill is a repeal of the don't ask don't tell law. they are expected to be close today, but it will most likely pass if democrats can stop a republican-led filibuster.

but they are sad. why would someone do that to themselves? >> police will arrest her when the time is appropriate. she is still in the hospital. >> apple is the head of the class when it comes to customer satisfaction. a survey shows a cupertino company scored 86 out of 100. dell and ph scored 77 and all the scores are up from last year. a new study said getting the flu shot may have an added health benefit. a study said the risk of having a heart attack was reduced by 19 percent per for people who had a flack vaccine in the last year. some experts don't buy it. they said if getting the flu shot prevented heart attacks, it would have been noticed before. a link between heart attacks and the vaccine existed, it's not justified by the data.

and today in the bay's christie smith is live at lake merit where the attacks took place. christie? >> reporter: these attacks took place in a secluded area in the evening. both were on their way home. they are warning people to be careful, particularly getting in and out of the car when you are walking around, don't be distracted by your cell phone or ipod. we have been talking with people this morning and this is the first they have heard of anything going on like this. two women rob and assaulted during the robbery. this happened sunday evening. they are not releasing a lot of details, but believe the same guy may be responsible for both attacks and they do say he is armed. women are being warned to stay in a well-lit, well-populated area and lock the car door when we are getting in and out. we spoke with a woman walking

her dog around the lake. >> you have to be on alert and we carry mace. i think you have to be careful no matter where you live. >> did you hear about it? >> i didn't, no. i haven't seen more police present at all. >> she showed us that can of mace she carries just about everywhere and feels with it. the man that police are looking for, he was wearing dark clothing, african-american male. medium build about 5'10" to 6 feet tall. we are told that police are working on a sketch and as soon as we get that, we will bring it to you. >> time to be careful out there. thank you. >> police in the south bay are also looking for an attacker and a man tried to rape a jogger on a popular san jose trail. the woman is a triathlete and fought back kicking and screaming until the attacker ran

away. she was at the south end of snell avenue when the man jumped in front of her sunday. the suspect is described as an hispanic male in his 20s about 5'6" and 150 pounds. >> we are learning more about pg&e repairs are located. it released a list of the top 100 risk gas lines. more than 2/3 are in the bay area. enteringly enough, the san bruno pipeline was not on that list. today in the bay will explain why in a live report just ahead. >> city council said it has no confidence in california's high speed rail. the council passed a resolution unanimously and called for state and federal officials to pull funding for the $43 billion project. it's slated to travel between los angeles and san francisco.

50. that's typical for the morning star. livermore shows the slowing coming in and still 14 minutes through livermore in towards the interchange and south of there we are focusing on the area approaching highway 84 where woo had a number of problems. a clear view of the great, no problem. how is the forecast looking. >> not seeing too much in the way of low clouds. my drive from 680, wouldn't see anything in the way of fog. some low clouds pushing around and look at the temperatures. jacket weather in novato. san jose kind of chilly at 55. we have the sea breeze starting to pick up. you can see it into fairfield and that's one of the reason yes today and tomorrow, the temperatures will be cooling off. we are talking 60s and 70s for most of the area, but beginning friday, high pressure building in and the temperatures are really going to start to scream upward for the weekend. a system here offshore will not bring us rain. it will bring a stronger sea

breeze. high today in the low to mid 60s. 73 for san jose. inland with mid 70s and more or less the same forecast for tomorrow. friday and the weekend things start to change. 80s and 90s inland and 70s and 80s near the beaches this weekend. >> sounds warm. 5:40 and a rocket launched off the california coast last night and where it was headed. >> the united nations assembly is meeting and could talk about the uc berkeley hikers. they are still jailed in iran. >> many places are waking up with this headline. we will fill you in on the top 100 most risky pipelines in pg&e.

the cell phone or ipod. this was sunday evening when it happened. this may be the same guy responsible for both of these attacks. not much of a description, but he is an african-american male wearing dark clothing. he had a medium build and about 5'10" to 6 feet tall and we are told that investigators are working on a sketch. as soon as we get that, we will bring it to you. christie smith, today in the bay. good morning. we had a good slow down and approaching the area where the express lane starts. 5:00 is when the metering lights and the express lane started the operation and things are moving

smoothly through the area. a little slow down into fremont. yesterday about 6:00 is when we see the slowing as well. so far, so good. a nice easy flow for 580 approaching the interchange where we had a problem as well. that caused folks to head down to add to the congestion. a 16-minute drive continues to build early, but this is a tuesday. we expect that as well through the heart of livermore. clear to about airway boulevard. we will take a look at the bay bridge itself. the toll plaza with no back ups. a clearer view so far. an 18-minute bridge off of the bridge. hercules and towards the berkeley curve. a nice flow and the upper deck shot from san francisco. we could not show you this shot. the steady flow of traffic and we couldn't see the shot because he had a lot of fog.

stanford. a spokesperson from the university said they don't want anybody to be alarmed at the campus's home to at risk pipeline segments. releasing this top 100 list of the pipelines in response to an explosion ranked in the middle. the four segments of a 6,000 foot section that run along the southwestern edge of campus. this is roughly between page mill and sand hill. they put them on the list because they have the potential for erosion. something pg&e is monitoring. still the university is concerned. the spokesperson telling the stanford daily they want to meet to find out more as to why the pipelines are on the list and what pg&e has done to improve them. a sentiment echoed by people who live in the area. pa. >> all facts should be

homeowner's tax exemption for those who have lost their homes. they are devastated financially and way we can help is to ton allow even though they don't own the home anymore, there is no home to continue the tax exemption. locally because of the destruction of the structures, school districts and local communities no longer get the tax revenues and the property tax revenue. they will back fill those dollars and those individual who is have lost their jobs, they can at least take that loss off of the income tax. there is a way that we can somehow help build back lives of so many individuals. >> do you also have to work in the provisions of how long the back pays will take place? >> we are still crunching the numbers and this will cost
