join us now with the fight that broke out. >> reporter: if you were here at 7:00 tonight you would have been wondering what was going on. there were police everywhere trying to contain a riled up crowd but what exactly motivated all of this, that still remains unknown. police cars screaming by, hundreds of high school kids roaming. they were screaming. there were fights, several people were pepper sprayed. all of this after rumors spread among students on social media on a fight that took place near berkeley high. >> i heard there was going to be a fight earl littler today. from this girl. >> reporter: police responded to those rumors but the fights broke out any way. >> it looks like it's been a combination of kids from oakland tech, berkeley technical and berkeley high school. >> reporter: after police arrived the kids spread out to shattick avenue with several fighting breaking out there.

>> this guy came out with like a black eye and bloody nose. he was just messed up. >> reporter: this woman was hit by pepper spray and treated by par medics as was this young man, targeted by the mob. >> he said the people that came after him were not berkeley high students but we don't know that for sure. we had a pretty scared little kid there. >> reporter: it's unknown what sparked all of this. why hundreds of students gathered from other schools and converged around his campus. police say there may be a pattern. >> this is the third friday we've had more and more kids showing up on shaddick. but the most have been more water blooms and youthful exuberance. >> reporter: a lot more happened than tossing water balloons today. social media likely brought all

of these people together. but social media is also helping. he's getting video to track down who was behind all of this. developing news now out of san jose where a small plane had a rough landing at the airport tonight. but the pilot and the two passenger on board were okay. you can see flashing lights on the runway as airport workers were trying to take care of the plane. the airport worker tell us it was a problem with the landing gear when it tried to land. the spokesperson also said this rough landing is not having any impact on airport operations. a san francisco firefighter is taking legal action tonight against her own department. the female firefighter is tied to the runway death of a passenger in last year's asiana

crash and now she's calling herself a scapegoat. >> reporter: she filed a complaint late this afternoon against the city claiming retaliation and the violation of her rights as a firefighter all following the crash landing of asiana flight 219 at san francisco international airport. >> after the crash here, she started questioning things that happened at the scene. >> stop, stop, stop. there's a body right -- there's a body right there. >> reporter: her attorney says duckett arrived after a rescue rig ran over 18-year-old nguyen. >> basically flattened this vick into the ground. then you put the foam over it. >> reporter: he says duckett drove the second truck that ran over nguyen but she was already

a cal football player is facing felony charges tonight. he's accused of seriously injured another student at a fraternity party and also kicking a dog. jana katsuyama has been digging into the allegations and is outside the jail in berkeley. >> reporter: tamari drew was arrested yesterday but i spoke with his attorney after he met with drew here at the jail today. it appears all of this started with a fight over a dog bite at a fraternity fundraiser. demarie drew was recruited from livermore high school in 2012. a safety on the football team on a full athletic scholarship. now jarue is accused of felony battery and seriously injured another student at a fraternity house. >> the suspect at one point reportedly kicked the victim's dog and the victim reportedly kicked the suspect in the face

-- the suspect reportedly kicked the victim in the face. >> reporter: the victim told police he had been punched at least three times. he had a fractured jaw and now could need reconstructive surgery. today fraternity members told us they didn't want to talk on camera but the victim is back from the hospital in pain and with his jaw wired shut. we spoke with drew's attorney. >> it wasn't anything malicious. >> reporter: drew told police the fight started when the other student's dog bit him. >> wait and be patient before anybody passes about what may have happened. he's a good kid. from a good family, a hard working mother. >> reporter: the news quickly spread through campus. >> it's unfortunate because everybody is proud of the football team. >> it's not good for the school, not good for the football team. i don't know what happened but
