answer. >> no, no to a performance. yeah. >> welcome to friday, april 5th. yes. >> hope you're having a good day. we are checking in with lisa for a look at our forecast. >> so our april fools came a little late, right, with the wintry weather. but we're on the back side of the system as low pressure heads to the south and east of us. but hey, check out the snow mount hamilton and the rain that's running parallel to the coast. here you can see pescadero highway one. we've got some downpours and then the upper elevations. yes. turning to snow. so certainly looking at the wet weather as we get into boulder creek. 647 there's a look at mount hamilton. and just east of highway one, the wet weather mount diablo, looking at a rain snow mix and also some scattered showers out there. a level one system today. more dry slots than rain, but nonetheless it'll be gusty. it'll be cold. it'll be below average. yesterday was 52. in napa we had almost an inch of rain in hayward right now. upper 30s to low to mid 40s. it is certainly much colder. we've got our frost advisory for saturday morning and there's a look at the chilly

day today. the winds, the scattered showers, isolated thunderstorm. hey, amanda. >> hi lisa. so much for friday. light a few issues to get to, specifically in the east bay. we're talking about emeryville. you can take a look at our emeryville camera. one lane of the connector, northbound 880 to eastbound 80 is blocked. two other lanes have reopened in the last few minutes. and then we want to get a westbound 80 to southbound 880. that connector, a solo crash, has been cleared from the connector ramp, but there are heavy residual delays. traffic is backed up from gilman street back to the desk. >> thank you. amanda. here is a live look right now at sfo. if you are traveling today, make sure you're prepared for potential weather delays. according to flightaware, there are already 25 delays at sfo this morning. oakland mineta, san jose both have fewer than five delays right now, but yesterday was a totally different story. sfo saw almost 500 delays, averaging two hours and 15 minutes, and many of those are happening as we saw

higher winds and a storm moving through. of course, you can track the weather where you live anytime. with abc seven bay area app. you can find it in your device's app store and download it. >> happening now caltrans crews are racing to come up with a rebuilding plan after a portion of highway one washed out over the weekend. yesterday they brought in dozens of concrete barriers. they'll soon be placing those along the road to guide traffic going between carmel and big sur. convoy passages escorting drivers remain on pause because of the rain. while the closure is inconvenient, caltrans says it could have been worse. >> i think we maybe caught a little stroke of luck and maybe a lot of luck in the sense that we still have one lane open. >> evacuation warnings remain in effect in and around big sur. the monterey county sheriff's office plans to lift the evacuation warnings if the convoys resume tomorrow as planned. >> happening today, we're expecting another candidate to officially enter the race for

san francisco mayor. amanda is at the live desk with what aaron peskin is saying about his decision. >> good morning kumasi. we've known for a while now that san francisco supervisor aaron peskin was preparing to enter the race for mayor, but today he's expected to make it official by filing the proper paperwork. peskin enters the race as one of the most progressive voices in san francisco, so we know he's been a supervisor on and off for 24 years. he's currently board president. the job current mayor london breed held before she was elected mayor. peskin told the chronicle he's entering the race partly because of what he describes as a chaotic governing strategy by breed. he criticized breed for what he described as an incoherent approach to solving the city's most pressing problems. >> now, aaron peskin has long been a thorn in the side of mayors, going back to willie brown and he represents that 30 to 35% of the voters that backed chesa boudin for district attorney. he got recalled. he's also was opposed to the measures

first pitch. the national anthem will be sung by platinum recording artist montell jordan. and of course, we have the amazing flyover with f 15 from the california national guard. >> great. and i know that we also have a new sound system and some new spotlights that were installed. tell us about those and what makes it pretty unique for this stadium. yeah, unfortunately today is a day game so you won't get the full lighting experience. >> but you know, our sport lights have been upgraded to have the full color spectrum as well as motion sensors. we have 12 spotlights installed around the ballpark, and then the sound system has really been improved for increased fidelity and quality of sound. great. >> and my last question back to the food of course, we know that's what so many people are excited about. of course, with also seeing some of our players get out here on the field with the food. we're hearing there will be some more grab and go options. is that true?

degrees with more sun out there. a look outside it's pretty gray. 41, oakland 45, in san mateo yesterday, nearly an inch of rain, only low 50s in many neighborhoods, 36 in petaluma, 42 in livermore. and as we go hour by hour, the air is unstable enough that we still will see some showers today, but more dry periods. and then by late sunday uh- early sunday morning, i should say we could see another wave of showers. but that's while you're sleeping, so don't worry about that one, gusty winds here right along the coast. it's going to be very chilly at the giants game and elsewhere. breezy highs today. well below average. mid 50s for most. and looking at scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms. windy. the accuweather seven day forecast level one system today. tomorrow waking up to a frost advisory. upper elevations. very cold afternoon. highs from the mid 50s at the coast to the low 60s. slightly warmer on sunday. look what happens monday eclipse day. not only great viewing, but the temperatures come up

significantly day to day and we are well above average by the middle to the end of next week. all right. >> thank you so much lisa. now let's get to our toyota tahoe report. talking about that chilly weather. if you're headed to the snow something you need to know is chains are going to be required all throughout your drive. palisades tahoe from the city. it's going to take you three hour and ten minutes. north star, california three hours and eight minutes. heavenly is going to take three hours and 12 minutes from the city. sugar bowl resort two hours, 48 minutes sierra at tahoe two hours 52 minutes and then three hours and 28 minutes to get to kirkwood again. chains are needed. let's get back to the desk for your headlines space. >> amanda. new at six san francisco is close to finalizing a grant that would upgrade restaurants in union square. according to the examiner, the $2 million grant would go toward improvements at two city owned restaurant kiosks that celebrity chef tyler florence took over last year. the board of supervisors will vote soon whether to accept the funds, the recs and parks department says the cash will go to upgrade kitchens serving areas and public space starting today.

>> uber eats customers in arizona will begin receiving food orders through autonomous waymo vehicles. customers will only be allowed to choose that delivery option if they live in the metro phoenix area. once the waymo waymo vehicle arrives with the food, they'll get a notification to go ahead and unlock the vehicle and get their items. customers need to have their phones with them during the pickup. they can opt out if they don't want a driverless waymo delivering their food. now there's no word yet if this service is going to be coming to the bay area. >> we're just three days away from a total solar eclipse. businesses and cities along the path of totality are taking advantage of the amount of tourists coming in, while others just can't keep up with the business or are mismanaging it. overbooked hotels from upstate new york to the south are canceling some guest reservations, leaving them with no place to stay at the last minute. >> it's just really hard to manage that many people. >> it's not. it's not? what do

runner, it's anyone's race. >> the a's time in oakland is officially coming to an end, the team announced yesterday morning that they are leaving the coliseum at the end of the season, and they'll be playing at sutter health park in west sacramento until their new vegas ballpark is done. and as you can imagine, fans of the team are upset about it and many of them voiced frustration with owner john fisher. we just saw him there on the screen. others are questioning the city of oakland and alameda county. >> this new mayor, i don't think she really know how to play the game when it comes to professional sports team. >> i love our mayor, but i think she has a lot to do. she didn't fight to keep the teams here. it sucks to see another team leave and it feels like our city is failing. >> mayor shengtao says oakland offered a deal that to the a's that was fair and fiscally responsible. the a's management said both sides were just too far apart. the a's plan to spend

laid off. amanda, we're learning this coincides with the end of a major apple project. >> yeah. reggie. the layoffs come only weeks after multiple reports that cupertino based apple was ending its decade long project to build an electric car. state filings did not mention the project, but impacted employees include machine shop managers, hardware engineers and design engineers. in total, 614 apple team members are losing their jobs. they were notified at the end of last month with the layoffs effective may 27th. this is the first mass layoff at apple since the pandemic, and they come at a difficult time for the world's second most valuable company. apple's quarterly revenue fell in the last three months of

>> abc seven news reporter lena howland live at oracle park with what's new this year? and lena, you got a whole spread. please fill us in. >> oh, that's right. well, happy opening day. we are finally here. this is the day we have all been waiting for. and we are joined now by shayna dom. she is with the giants and she's here to tell us about what is new this season including about all of this wonderful food right in front of us. so shayna tell us what's going on. >> well, it's opening day. it's our 66th opening 66 year in san francisco, 67th opening day. so really exciting. of course, preparations are getting ready for today's game. you've got, you know, people power washing and checking the scoreboard and making sure everything is working. but just super excited for the day. the bunting is out, the food is here, which we know that everyone comes obviously to meet our new manager, bob melvin . welcome him home and back to the bay area where he's originally from, and our team

shooting was the deadliest in san mateo county's history. cal osha filed 22 workplace safety violations against california terra garden, including an alleged failure to develop violence prevention plans after previous incidents. the lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for economic losses related to the deaths and injuries. california terra farm has not responded to requests for comment about this latest legal action. back to you at the desk. >> thank you. amanda. new this morning, the white house is asking congress to cover the full cost of rebuilding baltimore's francis scott key bridge funding will be a key part of getting the bridge back up and running as soon as possible. the funding request comes as the army corps of engineers announces a plan to get the shipping channel reopened by the end of may. today, president biden will be visiting baltimore. he's expected to meet with his bec to meet with the families of the six construction workers who died last week.

in november. it's unclear how many employees will be affected. the report says. the a's are partnering with the nba's sacramento kings and triple a rivercats. both are have the same owner, which would create redundancy, prompting the a's to cut jobs. so here's a look at how the a's stadium socket developed in 2004. the a's first looked into building a new stadium in the coliseum's north parking lot that didn't pan out. a decade later, in 2014, the team renewed its lease to play at the coliseum for another ten years. then in 2018, they announced a 34,000 seat stadium at howard terminal, which also fell through, and in 2023, the a's reached their newest deal to play in las vegas. >> now the big question is what is next for the oakland coliseum? >> and the short answer is nobody really knows. the situation is complicated because the a's owner, john fisher, still owns half of the coliseum and the city owns the other half. but with the a's now leaving, city officials want fisher out of the picture
