but this morning he says he cannot come up with the money he needs to keep his portfolio intact. this morning donald trump is unable to secure a bond to cover the nearly half billion dollars he owes after a judge held him liable for fraud. >> i will appeal. we'll be successful. >> reporter: his lawyers say trump is facing insurmountable difficulties. he lacks enough cash to obtain a bond so big, and more than 30 insurance companies refused to apartment ses his real estate as collateral. his attorneys argue he shouldn't be forced to sell property, raising money through a fire sale, they say, would result in irrecoverable losses if his appeal succeeds. >> got to pony up the bond amount in order to appeal it. if you don't do that, then, one, you're not going to appeal. and you've conceded you've lost. >> reporter: trump asked a court to either waive the requirement for the bond while he repeals or allow him to post something smaller saying a $464 million bond is a practical impossibility. but if the court says no and

trump fails to secure a bond by next week, new york attorney general leticia james told abc news she is prepared to take ownership of trump's assets. >> if he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court. and we will ask the judge to seize his assets. >> reporter: seizing real estate is not a quick process. but the attorney general told us she is determined to make sure trump pays. george, there is also news this morning about the criminal case here in new york that trump faces. the judge sided with prosecutors and will allow testimony from two key witnesses. trump's former fixer, michael cohen, and stormy daniel, the porn actress that trump made $130,000 to keep quiet about their alleged affair, which he denies. george? >> george: you said the tapes could be talked about but not played to the jurors? >> reporter: that's right.

the prosecutors can make access to the tapes, but the jury will not hear in its entirety unless the defense opens the door, george. >> george: thanks. let's bring in dan abrams and jon karl. dan, let me begin with you. trump's lawyers are saying either suspend the bond or reduce it. what are the chances of him getting that? >> it's unlikely. there will have to be something worked out. either he'll have to sell assets. typically that's what would happen in a situation like this. right? you owe the money. you have the assets. you sell the assets. apparently donald trump doesn't want to sell the assets. so what happens next? either he's going to have to work out a deal with the attorney general or he's going to have to get someone to help him put up the money. or in the end, what's going to happen is she will move forward to seize his assets. as aaron correctly points out, that is not an easy or quick process. that would be very complicated, would take some time for that process to begin. >> george: it could begin as

soon as monday. >> it could begin as soon as monday, but the execution of that process, of moving forward, seizure of asset, is not easy. >> george: what about the idea that's been floated that he might have to declare bankruptcy? >> that's possible, but i think that's unlikely as well here. look, his fundamental argument seems to be at this point a constitutional one, right? he's saying referring to the excessive fines clause of the 8th amendment. the problem with that argument as a fundamental constitutional argument is the 8th amendment applies to criminal cases. it applies to excessive bail. cruel and unusual punishment. that's where the excessive fine language lives in the 8th amendment. it's supposed to apply when someone is convicted of or accused of a crime. here you're just talking about civil money damages. he's just saying it's too much. does he have a chance to get this reduced on appeal? absolutely. but until then he's got to figure out a way to put up this

amount. >> george: let's bring in jon karl. meantime, jon, on the campaign trail, trumps talks focusing on revenge and retribution. >> in a series of posts on his social media platform, he has talked about prosecuting and putting in jail liz cheney and the other members of the january 6th committee. also one of the key witnesses that appeared before that committee. he's doing this, george, at the very time that he is lauding the people that attacked the u.s. capitol on january 6th. that's unbelievable patriots. he's talking about pardoning them on his first day in office. so he's talking about prosecuting the people that investigated january 6th and pardoning those that attacked the capitol. it's really an extraordinary series of posts. you might dismiss it as the ranting of a crazy person on social media. but it's the beating heart of

his campaign. it's about revenge, retribution. that's what his campaign is all about. now we are increasingly seeing it on the campaign trail. >> george: jon karl, dan abrams thank you very much. michael? >> michael: now we're going to turn to the spring break man hunt in florida. police are searching for suspects in jacksonville beach. victor oquendo joins us with the latest. good morning, victor. >> reporter: good morning, michael. these three unrelated shootings happened in less than an hour back to back to back within blocks of each other, leaving one man dead, more injured. police have not made any arrests. this morning after a weekend marked by gun violence in jacksonville beach, an urgent manhunt for multiple suspects involved in three separate shootings. the first incident captured here. a chaotic scene after shots were fired on the beach. police say officers were on site where hundreds were gathered, most in their teens and early 20s.

>> this group engaged in boxing matches, fights and other incidents and jacksonville police department had to take action and disperse the crowd. when the crowd was dispersed, that's when the shootings happened. >> reporter: two young men believed to be suspects, along with a bystander, now seriously wounded, but stable. then two additional, unrelated shootings happening within an hour. one involved a masked man firing a shot while running by a bar. the other a fight between three men in which a 21-year-old man was killed. the popular beach district was packed not only with spring breaker, but fans from a nearby golf tournament as well as patrons celebrating st. patrick's day. the violence leaving residents on edge. >> very close to home. somebody died there. they had us locked down. it's a problem. we all live here, we work here. we can't even step outside our house sometimes. >> reporter: while some weapons have been recovered, the suspects are still on the loose.

police asking anyone with any information to come forward and help track them down. robin? >> robin: victor, thank you. despite the concerns and crackdowns there in florida, spring break travel across the country all-time high. trevor ault is at l guardia airport in new york. good morning, trevor. >> reporter: robin, good morning. another record setting stretch of travel, this time for spring break. it's expected to be the busiest ever for the tsa. the agency says on sunday, they screened more than 2.7 million passengers at airports across the country. it's a number they haven't hit since the days before christmas. the past ten days have been mirroring the numbers they would usually see during the busiest travel days of summer. next week is expected to be busier. over the next several week, tsa is anticipating 47 million passengers. that's a 6% increase pr the same stretch of time last year. the good news is that at least so far, the airline and the tsa lines seem to be keeping pace. we know a lot of people will be driving for their spring break trip. typically that increase in demand coincides with an

increase in gas prices. we have been seeing that at least a little bit over the past month. more than a $0.20 increase in the national average. this morning it's $3.48 a gallon on average nationwide. aaa does expect it to climb at least a little higher. lot of people more than happy to pay that price to get on the road. george? >> george: okay, trevor. thank you very much. now to president biden's warning to israeli prime minister netanyahu about an expected military invasion of southern gaza. chief white house correspondent mary bruce has the details. good morning, mary. >> reporter: good morning, george. this is the starkest and most public warning yet from the white house to the israeli government. president biden urging prime minister netanyahu not to invade rapha in southern gaza where misplaced palestinians are seeking shelter. in their call yesterday, biden making it clear that he thinks this would be a mistake, and that there's a better way to target hamas. now, netanyahu, at biden's urging, has agreed to send top israeli officials to washington to hear the biden administration's alternative

approach. the white house said it is their expectation that there will be no operation in rapha until that meeting happens in the coming days. meanwhile former president trump is, again, accusing democrats, democratic officials of hating israel and echoing an anti-semitictrope calling it anti-semitic rhetoric saying there's no justification for spreading that which threat americans. michael? >> michael: overseas to the deepening crisis in haiti and the race to rescue hundreds of americans trapped in the country as armed gangs take over the capital. matt rivers is there for us on the scene. good morning, matt. >> reporter: good morning, michael. lots of gun fire here overnight in port-au-prince. millions of haitians remain trapped. now we're learning 1,000 americans on the ground here in port-au-prince asking the u.s. government for help. this morning, as gang warfare tears haiti apart, we fly into

the heart of the violence by helicopter. the only relatively safe way left into the capital city of port-au-prince. millions of haitians trapped in the epi center. the destruction from the rampant gang warfare evident. the bodies of at least 13 people shot dead. some victims just teenagers. doctors say without open hospitals, many are dying in their homes. how many people are dying here in port-au-prince that we don't even know about because they can't get to a hospital for care? i can't give you an exact number, he says, but it is many, many people. this is one of the main hospitals in port-au-prince. it's now completely closed. it was looted during some of this fighting. just look at the destruction. with the airport closed, the city is effectively cut off. hundreds of americans still here without a way out.

overnight the state department sending a notice to americans in haiti saying evacuation flights from the u.s. embassy could begin soon. >> this was the first time that my fear came in. it was only to know that i would be home. >> reporter: meriam from florida managed to get out safely, rescued with the help of project dynamo. >> even how we got out yesterday was a little fearful because the different things we had to do. >> reporter: no word yet on when those embassy evacuation flights will begin. just getting to the embassy will be dangerous. within the last few days a source telling me gangs and police engaging in shootouts less than one mile away from the embassy. robin? >> robin: we truly appreciate your reporting from there for us. thank you. now the game changing over the counter birth control pill is now available to women nationwide. online sales have begun and it will be in drug stores soon. erielle reshef is here with more.

>> good morning everyone. i'm kumasi aaron from abc seven mornings in the south bay. another possible utility rate hike. one of the area's largest water providers is looking to get a rate increase approved by the california public utilities commission. if this is approved, san jose water would increase its rates over the next three years, the utility says. average customers could see up to a $13 increase by next year. san jose water says increasing expenses and infrastructure investments are the reason behind these proposed rate hikes. customers say they've heard that before at the public utilities commission could approve san jose's water request in december, and kumasi traffic is still crawling in the east bay after this morning's deadly three car crash involving a wrong-way driver. >> it continues to block two lanes of the ramp. chp has issued a sig alert. this is the westbound 580 to 80 connect for 580 and 24. pretty jammed up bumper to bumper, but let's get you around it. if you're coming from orinda, i'd recommend using

tmz obtaining this video showing a smiling princess kate carrying shopping bags alongside her husband, prince william at a store just one mile from their home. there has been intense and growing scrutiny over the health of the future queen since january when the palace announced she had undergone abdominal surgery and would take time away from public duties to recover. just last week the royals releasing this photo of kate that had been doctored. multiple news agencies taking it down, the afp saying kensington palace are absolutely not considered a trustworthy source. the princess issuing a response after agencies took down the photo acknowledging the photo e blake lively posting and obviously photoshopped image

live in a different world now, where the camera does lie with artificial intelligence, everyone's getting a little bit over the top, a bit worried about these things. i remember years ago there was a photograph at the wedding of edward and sophie. i think, added william had a grumpy face so they put a happy face on him. i think i think it's wrong. it shouldn't happen, particularly today when the era of fake news and of all that going on. but i do think they have to be more careful.

common here. among married women with no prior births, about one in five are unable to get pregnant after a year of trying. it can be desperate and lonely. but now a growing number of women are freezing their egg, hoping it's an insurance policy. >> i am going to take my first shot. i am so nervous. >> reporter: natalie bailey an engineer from texas, is about to start her week long journey to freeze her eggs. >> these are all the shots i have to take. >> rebecca: the process can take from two to three weeks with multiple hormone injections a day. >> these are here. >> rebecca: combined with doctor appointments every other day leading up to the retrieval. >> i'm pushing 40. i wasn't sure if i fully wanted to close the door on having children. >> rebecca: the number of women freezing their eggs has increased more than 150% over the last five years. out of pocket costs average about $15,000 to over $20,000 which includes the cost of the egg freezing process,

medications and annual storage. mean time a recent study found only 2.5% to 3% of women who freeze their eggs return to use them. >> feels like we are telling women they must do that because they are absolutely going to have infertility. that's not fair. infertility is increasing. people are putting off family building for longer. for a lot of people, peace of mind is worth it. >> reporter: 31% of companies are offering fertility support. natalie says her company's support was crucial after 16 days she was ready for her egg retrieval. at a houston fertility institute. the outpatient procedure takes about 30 minutes. once retrieved, the eggs go through a process to safely store them, which we got to see at a different clinic. unrelate to nathalie's journey.

spring fertility in new york, using donated immature eggs. the eggs are skillfully moved through different solutions to prepare them to be cryo preserved. where they can last for years, stored in liquid nitrogen. for warming, the process is reversed, which can determine if some eggs were compromised. the attrition could look like this. 20 eggs are preserved, 17 survive, 13 successfully fertilize, 7 become embryos, 3 are viable after genetic testing and 1 implants for successful pregnancy. natalie was happy to learn 25 eggs were retrieved during her procedure. >> i'm very happy that i was able to do this. at least i know i have a backup if i decide to have a child later on in life. >> rebecca: we appreciate natalie for sharing her story and wish her well on her journey. these treatments can be expensive and taxing on the body. many employers are starting to

>> robin: back here. our next guest is a long time tv journalist. we've enjoyed her on espn. i can't believe that it's been 15 years. hannah storm, it is great to have you here. >> it is great to be here. >> robin: on good morning america. we go back a long way. >> we sure do. >> robin: i know there's something very important you want to share with folks. >> i do. back in -- listen, you're the one who said make your mess your message. right? so happy to talk to you about this. back in november i had a mammogram. i have been really good about that my whole life. i probably had 20, more than that mammograms. never a big deal. it was my yearly breast cancer screening. i kind of didn't hear anything at first. i thought that was a little odd. usually you hear right away everything is fine. i basically tracked down the place where i had it. i was like, what's going on? they said, well,

you have dense breasts. we need you to have an ultrasound. that's very common. about 40% of women have that. i have had that before. i go have an ultrasound. i wait. take my time through the holidays. come back, had my ultrasound in early january. it comes back right away this time. they say, we're seeing something we don't think is anything. it's probably nothing at all. we'd like you to have a biopsy. went back a week later for a biopsy. call came less than 24 hours later. the doctor said, i'm so surprised. but you have ductile carcinoma. you have dcis, the earliest form of breast cancer. i was like, dcis? i never heard of this in my life. >> robin: how did you handle that? no one wants to hear that. what was going through your head when you heard that? >> i was shocked. because, again, i had had mammograms every year.

i have no risk factors. i have no breast cancer in my family. i did not have a lump. i did not have pain. i don't have any genetic predisposition to breast cancer. what i came to learn, vast majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer don't have risk factors. and so i got to say i was shocked. i was scared. >> robin: how are you today? >> i'm good. really good. really, really good. i'm very, very lucky because they found it so early. >> robin: that is what is so key. to find it early like that. and there are a few options when you have it at that stage. >> yes. >> robin: what did you decide to do? >> by the way, it's a 99% survival rate. i know so many people who don't have mammogram, who are scared to have them. i don't want them to be scared. i want them to be scared not to have this conversation. >> robin: right. >> what i had is a lumpectomy.

i had two spots that had cancerous cells. they say the cancer cells are inside the duct but have not gotten out, so it is not invasive. it's not malignant. they can go in and do a lumpectomy. go in and kind of scoop it out. they got all the healthy tissue around it to make sure it wasn't spreading. >> robin: clean margins. >> yes. yes. had to wait awhile. surgery was successful. i was able to go back to work, cover the super bowl, which was a real blessing. and then you have to decide, what are you going do after? right? it used to be that women who had this pretty much everybody had radiation. there are now new tests that they can do with your cells, looking at the biology an behavior of your cells. not everybody needs radiation, which is amazing. right? all this new research, some of it is dialling back on some of the treatments.

i'm also taking a drug that blocks all the estrogen which my cells feed off of that. some people's do and some don't. i take this for three years. >> robin: you said because this happened at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, having the surgery and that. they've done a wonderful job. keeping it private with your husband dan and three daughters and your espn family, close circle of friends. >> almost nobody i told. >> robin: you know how important it is, as you said, to let women know the importance of getting those screenings. >> this is how you find it. you find it through getting your yearly mammograms. this is how you find out that you have breast cancer. if you find out that you have it in the earliest form, it's so treatable. there's so much that you can do about it. i know so many women who don't have their yearly mammograms.

i know people who are afraid of it or, we're busy, we have kid, jobs. making you're taking care of your parents. sometimes the last person that you want to take care of is yourself, right? but it's so important to advocate for yourself. to have the knowledge and to understand all the advances that are being made in breast cancer. >> robin: great strides have been made. i have heard of women who say, as a group, every year they get together, they make it an event. they go out to lunch after. just understand the importance of that and the sisterhood. >> the more you talk about it and i think just demystify it. it's okay to talk about it. it's okay to share. whenever you're ready. >> robin: you have three daughters. >> i have three daughters. that makes it even more important. you want to think about your family. there they are.
