with the weather. yeah. drew yes, we're talking a lot about that snowmageddon. what are we seeing locally. yeah. locally. >> we have a couple isolated showers left over. the blizzard is over in the sierra. they're now cleaning up from it. but here locally, a couple of isolated showers still on live doppler. seven one crossing through the city and the east foothills of san jose. we have that rain actually mixing with a little bit of frozen precept in our higher elevation, so we're just still unsettled this morning. the showers will wrap up over the next 1 or 2 hours, and much of the day we're just cloudy. the snow is wrapping up too, but we have measured the snow in feet. the latest measurements from yesterday had areas in excess of 80in of snow. we'll get new measurements this morning, but the blizzard warning it is over. it is cold out there. this morning. take note of that. frost advisories are in effect for good reason. we're in the 30s and in the 40s there's that frost advisory until 9 a.m. today. so we have some isolated showers this morning. it's just a cloudy day. it's a chilly day as well with temperatures in the 50s. let's see how the commute is going with gloria. good morning.

>> good morning. so far the commute is going well. we don't have any major crashes or anything like that to report this morning. so our map right here of the bay area roads looks pretty much to be in the green other than from tracy to dublin, which is always a little slow spot. there and here's a live look outside at our bay bridge camera, and you can see traffic is flowing nicely here. chp has issued a high wind advisory for the bay bridge, so just keep that in mind when you're driving here this morning guys. >> thank you so much gloria. breaking news in the north bay where police activity is forcing several road closures. it's happening in santa rosa. police say stony point road between bellevue avenue and todd road will be closed indefinitely. todd road, between stony point road and moreland avenue is also being impacted. the santa rosa police department says the sonoma county sheriff's office is handling the investigation. no word yet on what is going on. the chp is also there. abc seven news reporter lena howland is on her way to the scene, and she will bring us a live report once

she arrives. >> happening now. interstate 80, in the sierra is closed this morning as caltrans struggles to clear the roads after this weekend's blizzard. a 70 mile stretch of the road has been closed for days because of the intense winds and the snowfall. caltrans crews have been working to get i-80 clear, but they have faced a big hurdle. you see, only eight of their 30 snowblower crews are working right now. whiteout conditions near donner summit. stranded drivers who had to be rescued yesterday. many roads in and around lake tahoe are still too dangerous to be on some ski resorts remain closed. yesterday as residents started to dig out of their homes, and that could take a while. snowed all day yesterday. >> and then today we woke up to about a foot and a half of fresh snow. my neighbor's house is the snow is almost up to the top of their their doorways started trying to blow their snow blower, but i might have broken it. >> so me and my buddies are trying to fix it and get it running. >> chp is still urging drivers

to delay trips to tahoe because of these hazardous conditions. >> lose your voice. your vote. today is the final push to super tuesday. former president donald trump is leading the republican race in all 15 states and territories where delegates are up for grabs tomorrow. and gloria, nikki haley has just notched her first victory. >> that's right. amanda nikki haley is projected to win the republican primary in washington , d.c, and it is historic. haley is the first woman to ever win a republican presidential primary or caucus. her win comes after losses in idaho, michigan and missouri. dc is one of the heaviest democratic jurisdictions in the country. only about 23,000 republicans are registered to vote in the city, which has a population of more than 700,000. haley is now refused to pledge to endorse former president donald trump should he become the nominee. i think i've thrown out the idea that they think i'm running for vice president. >> that's not happening. if this was about my political career, i

would have been out a long time ago. >> the former president barely mentioned haley over the weekend on the campaign trail, but the spokesperson trump sarcastically congratulates her on being named, quote, queen of the swamp by the lobbyists and dc insiders. trump is likely to pick up several hundred republican delegates when voters head to the polls tomorrow. reggie. gloria >> thank you. the us supreme court could rule today if donald trump can be kicked off the ballot in colorado. trump is challenging a groundbreaking decision by the colorado supreme court. it ruled he is disqualified from being president again and ineligible for the state's primary because of the constitution, insurrectionist clause and his involvement. in january. six illinois and maine have also barred trump from their primary ballots, but those decisions are on hold pending the outcome of this colorado case. by the way, polls are open in california just about 24 hours, and the bay area is playing an important

role in the final push to super tuesday. democratic representatives adam schiff and katie porter both held events in san francisco yesterday, hoping to secure additional support. the latest polls show shift in a statistical tie with republican steve garvey. katie porter is trailing both. >> we have a handful of billionaires who are literally spending millions to try to prevent me from getting to the senate. why would they do that? it's because they don't want someone who's going to address the income inequality that we see in this country. they don't want someone who's going to stand up for workers and consumers. >> as you know, we feel good about where we are and the team we built and the support we're getting. but but we'll, you know, if we're successful on tuesday, as i hope and believe, we will be, we'll we'll be ready for november. >> we did reach out to steve garvey's campaign. they declined to comment at the top two candidates after tomorrow's primary advanced to november. that means if two democrats win, the seat is guaranteed to remain blue. if a republican and a democrat win, it could mean millions more in campaign

coverage of the california primary election starts at 9 p.m, streaming anywhere you watch abc seven news, bay area that's apple tv, google tv, amazon fire tv and roku 507. >> this morning, let's look at snowfall totals from the sierra. now, these numbers came in yesterday at noon. so we'll hopefully get some fresh numbers. this morning. but still these numbers are very impressive. sugar bowl 87in of snow kingvale 73in sierra snow lab 63 pal states. tahoe 62. so when we get those fresh numbers in, we will update you. that blizzard warning is over. the worst of the storm is over, but now we're tracking still another chance of snow showers over the next couple of days. live doppler seven. some isolated showers this morning over us right now. what we're watching. there's an area of low pressure that's off of our coastline. and this is going to be aimed at southern california, but it will bring some snow into the sierra on the order of 4 to 9in over the next couple of days. and it's close enough to us that we could have an isolated shower

mr. benny gantz at the white house, according to abc news. they're expected to further discuss the ceasefire deal, calling for hostage releases along with ways to increase aid over the weekend. vice president harris doubled down on the administration's call for a ceasefire. >> this would allow us to build something more enduring to ensure israel is secure and to respect the right of the palestinian people to dignity, freedom and self-determination. >> the biden administration has said israel had, quote, basically accepted a six week cease fire proposal in gaza. those talks fell apart after hamas rejected a demand to provide a list of israeli hostages who are still alive, even the possibility of a cease fire in gaza means that there's more talk about what's happening

between israel and hamas here in the bay area. >> two major demonstrations took over the streets of downtown san francisco, over the weekend. on the right, a pro palestinian march as part of a global day of action on saturday. and you see on the left a rally to call out anti-semitism everywhere. abc seven news reporter tara campbell takes you through the messages from these events. >> a showing of solidarity sunday in front of san francisco city hall marching against anti-semitism. >> it's more important than ever that we unite together and fight what's been happening to our people. >> thousands of people gathering from throughout the bay area. >> the people shouldn't hate everyone. one should deserve to be living the way they want to live. >> organizers saying this is a response to rising acts of hate against the jewish community throughout northern california. there is no place for hatred in san francisco, mayor london breed, taking to the podium, condemn, saying the influx of hate crimes aimed at jewish people. nearly 30% of the san

peacefully protested nearby as the rally carried on. despite the wet weather, the rain can't keep people from coming out. >> we are just in so much pain over what's happening with our hostages in israel, over what's happening with the situation in gaza. thank you. >> kara campbell, abc seven news new developments, boeing and alaska airlines are now facing a $1 billion lawsuit for its blown door plug incident from earlier this year. >> the suit includes three plaintiffs who were sitting close to the door plug when it flew out mid-flight. two of them are a couple from portland, oregon. they were sitting just two rows diagonally behind where this happened, and we could see it clearly from where we were sitting. >> i was dozing off when it happened and all, all of a sudden we just hear a loud pop. >> the couple was on the flight from portland to orange county to visit family. they say their lives have been changed forever for it was crazy. >> just to like, look out to your left and just see the open, you know, night sky, apparently. and just like, are we going to

be okay? >> the couple says they want accountability for what they experienced and hope there will be more safety implemented on planes as the university of florida is eliminating all diversity, equity and inclusion, or dei positions within the school system. >> it's due to the state's recent ban on the use of public funds for such programs, or for political or social activism. dei aims to address inequities within an organization, like correcting discriminatory hiring practices or addressing gender and racial pay inequities. >> fast food chain in-n-out is setting its sights on a new state. it looks like they could be going to washington state. that's according to the colombian newspaper. it's reporting on in-n-out's application plans in the city of ridgefield, which is near the washington, oregon border. in-n-out opened its first location in idaho in december for the california based chain has more than 400 locations across california, oregon, nevada, utah, colorado, arizona and texas. >> are you and your best friend

colder in the north bay. frost advisories are up until 9 a.m. here's live doppler seven again. we have a couple of isolated showers. one that's just slowly passing over the city, moving to the east over the bay bridge into parts of the east bay this morning. and these isolated showers are going to wrap up pretty fast this morning. much of the day today is just pretty cloudy. the snow showers have wrapped up in the sierra, but now we have a new winter storm warning. this kicks in later today. periods of heavy snow. we're talking about 4 to 9in, so not a blockbuster snowstorm, but the problem will be it's going to hamper the efforts to clear the blizzard. we just had. so that's going to make it even slower to clear i-80. for example, back here at home, rainfall estimates over the next 48 hours, some pockets of drizzle out there. but again, we're not talking about a soaking by any means. so today just a lot of cloud cover. morning isolated shower. it's chilly today. temperatures basically stuck in the 50s for most of us. here's the accuweather 70 forecast. pretty cloudy the next couple of days by thursday and friday we have bright sunshine back. there's

>> there's a small chance interstate 80 could reopen today in the sierra. it has been closed since friday because of the storm we saw over the weekend, leaving drivers stranded. >> and number three, we have a few isolated showers out there this morning. it's also quite cold with morning temperatures in the 30s and 40s. it's just a cloudy day all day today and chilly for this time of the year. in the afternoon. highs only in the mid 50s. >> number four. the supreme court could rule today on whether colorado can kick donald trump off its primary ballot. colorado is trying to bar trump from the ballot for his part in the january 6th insurrection. number five, the groups trying to recall alameda county da pamela price will turn in the signatures needed to initiate a recall election today. >> that's according to the chronicle. they needed 73,000 signatures, organizer say they have 123,000. >> and number six slick roads this morning. this is a live look at our bay bridge toll plaza camera. traffic is flowing here and the metering lights are not on yet. >> and number seven, san

keep saying that here's live doppler seven this morning. we're still dealing with some isolated showers right now. and these will linger for the next 90 minutes or so. one just crossed over the city. now it's moving over the bay into the east bay. so oakland, san leandro, you're about to get a quick shower this morning. we have a couple of lighter showers working through woodside on our way to palo alto, and sunnyvale, but we're not anticipating a rainy day today. this is just the end of our weekend storm. the blizzard is over. the snow has wrapped up, but we still have issues. 8-80 is still closed. it has been closed since friday, so hopefully crews can get out there this morning and clear that snow. but we have seen upwards of 80in plus out of this blizzard so far back here at home. it is cold out there. temperatures in the 30s and in the 40s. a frost advisory is in effect for the north bay for temperatures as low as the freezing mark. so the winter jacket, your best friend this morning we'll keep that isolated shower chance in the forecast after 9 a.m. it's just cloudy out there and it's a cool afternoon for this time of year.

temperatures only in the 50s. let's see how the commute is going. gloria good morning. >> good morning so far. commute going pretty well. there are slick roads this morning so just drive a little bit more carefully today with the rain that we are seeing this morning throughout the area. this is a live look at our san mateo-hayward bridge camera traffic is starting to build right now from the toll plaza to foster city. it will take you 11 minutes and a look at our drive times for this morning from tracy to castro valley that is in the yellow, which means there is a little bit of a backup there that will take you about 58 minutes right now. all right. >> thanks, gloria. and this morning, the race is on to clear the snow in the sierra nevada mountains after a big blizzard over the weekend. here's a live look we want to get to of highway 267 in truckee at the entrance to northstar. and chains are required here, but interstate 80 is still closed at this hour due to the conditions. some areas were getting up to five inches of snow an hour at the height of the storm. here's abc news reporter rhiannon ally

this morning, stranded in the snow for hours. >> rescuers working to reach drivers after the most brutal blizzard of the season swept through the sierra nevada mountains, dumping up to 12ft of snow and packing wind gusts of up to 190mph. more than 300 vehicles got stuck on interstate 80. parts of the highway shut down for days. officers going car to car. >> we really need to focus on the people in the vehicles. are you prepared to sit there for a while? do you have food? do you have water? do you have enough fuel in your vehicle to keep the heat going? >> this time lapse video shows the eye popping accumulation of snow since friday. sugar bowl resort near lake tahoe posted this image of snow piled up to the second story windows of a building. and although this storm has passed, another one is on the way tonight. these skiers hit the slopes. even though the resort was closed for the storm. i wore my big baggy pants uh- so that i can float. >> you know, if there is an

moving to the south bay as well. much of the day today just going to be cloudy. it's chilly out there right now. 30 and 40s. looking at the sierra, the blizzard warning is done, but we have seen feet of snow. the latest measurements so far, more than 80in in spots will get fresh numbers this morning, but the snow showers are wrapping up a new winter storm warning, though, will kick in later on today for the western slope. could pick up 4 to 9in of snow, which could slow the cleanup efforts from the blizzard. but nowhere near the snow we saw over the weekend. looking at the 72 hour snowfall totals, sugar bowl soda springs more than 80in, more than 70in at kingvale. the sierra snow lab, palisades tahoe more than 60in. kirkwood, closing in. on 48in of snow, was only just the snow. it was a wet weekend. look at these rainfall totals. san francisco more than an inch and a half of rain. oakland more than an inch. danville some more than two inches of rain. this weekend. we're pretty much done with the worst of this storm. live
