eight tonight. we are following protests all across the bay area in response to the four day cease fire between israel and hamas. >> we need much more than a four day human pause. on their shopping bhonsle. >> troc. >> the protests were held near malls to draw attention and interrupt black friday shoppers hours. and this all comes as hostages released from hamas are now returning to their families. the temporary four day truce is also allowing for critically needed aid to flow into gaza. also today, the largest convoy of humanitarian aid was received as abc's melissa adan reports. plans are also underway for more hostages to be released during another swap tomorrow. >> tonight, the 24 hostages released to israel reuniting with their loved ones after the red cross received the group of 13 israeli citizens, ten thai citizens and one filipino citizen from hamas. the red cross transferring the hostages to the idf where they first

received a medical assessment before being sent to israeli hospitals for reunification with their families. >> we are all really relieved that we heard from them and that they said that they're fine and not just other people told us across the west bank. >> cheers as crowd celebrate the arrival of the palestine prisoners. amid this four day ceasefire. israel releasing 39 palestine women and teenage prisoners. president biden in nantucket today saying there is a chance of extending the truce. >> this extended pause in the fighting brings a critical opportunity to deliver much needed food, medicine, water and fuel to the civilians in gaza. and we are not wasting one single minute. >> the united nations sending 200 trucks across the rafah border and into gaza, the largest single day delivery since the october seventh terror attack. troc x carrying cooking gas and critical fuel that is needed to power hospitals and

trucks. >> hundreds more trucks are getting in position as well, ready to enter gaza over the coming days to support the innocent palestinians who are suffering greatly because of this war that hamas has unleashed a desperate need in gaza, as there are now at least 1.7 million people displaced and at least 1 million staying in shelters, run by the united nations. >> relief and works agency for palestine refugees. israel now preparing to receive its second wave of hostages. the idf notifying families if their relative is on the list of those expected to be freed. melissa hayden, abc news, los angeles. as the four day cease fire is underway in gaza, pro-palestinian protests were out in force around the bay area today from emeryville to san francisco. >> hundreds took to the streets and in santa clara. crowds flooded valley fair mall. local palestinian is concerned about their families in gaza were

joined in the support of showing by members of bay area indigenous communities. they all rallied in support of a full cease fire. abc7 news reporter anser hassan has more on that story. as the four day humanitarian pause takes hold in gaza, many bay area palestinians are focused on their families who live there for the first time in weeks. >> for them to be able to walk freely and not fear for what might come down from the sky. this is a really big deal. this is a really big deal for them. the ability for them to breathe after weeks of being under this psychological pressure here, it's a big deal. >> but it may not be big enough, says rami sultan. he has over 500 relatives who evacuated to southern gaza, many who are sheltering in schools after the cease fire allows them to breathe. >> to be honest, to know that they can go out safely, either to grab aid, grab whatever water that they can find food and not have the constant threat sort of

immediately being killed >> friday afternoon, several hundred took part in an indigenous people's march from berkeley to emeryville in a show of solidarity. there were demands for a permanent cease fire in gaza. >> our relatives in palestine are suffering a genocide right now. they are being massacred like right before our eyes. and the same thing happened here. >> we know that israel is using this moment to restock its weapons. after four days, what will happen in more war, more continuation of genocide? >> suzanne alley lives in san francisco. she says her family in gaza are living with very little food and water, no fuel to cook, no working showers and toilets and no electricity. >> they described to us during the bombings that they have a feeling they're already going to die and they accept that they're

going to die from the bombardment because it's just so intense. alley says the pause in fighting will help, but she has little faith it will even last. >> the four full days. and she's concerned with the worsening conditions in the west bank. >> and, of course, more broadly, palestine in its entirety is still under occupation. so on a daily basis, palestinians continue to face violence. >> many are also calling to open a humanitarian corridor to help gazans as winter quickly approaches. anser hassan abc seven news. today protest at valley fair mall came on one of the biggest shopping days of the year, black friday. >> are you shopping malls are drop it as you can see, social media video shows hundreds of demonstrators flooding the mall, carrying signs. and palestinian flags. they marched to chants of free palestine. san jose police say they monitored the protest, but there were no issues as that crowd eventually dispersed on its own. and this was the scene

in san francisco's union square today, which was bustling with black friday shoppers. it's a promising sign that city officials and law enforcement have been working towards abc seven news reporter luz pena was there for the official kickoff of the holiday shopping season. >> yes, the holiday spirit is in the air at union square. >> this is nice. nice place, especially this holiday times. >> so what do you like about union square? that the trees so big the 83ft tall macy's tree was lit up just two weeks ago and businesses on the square are seeing the uptick in foot traffic. we just haven't stopped every every time we get a few people leaving, there's five more people coming in. >> so we've just been we've been busy. >> a different site just two years since chaos ensued in san francisco's shopping district with thieves stealing close to $300,000 worth of merchandise. today, san francisco police officers are in almost every

corner. >> we've had a heavier presence since then. and you've seen the numbers of shoppers just steadily increase over the last two years. >> and recently that police presence was tested just last month when around 6:30 a.m, a vehicle smashed into the dior store in union square. moments later, police arrested three suspects. san francisco recently received a $17 million in a grant specifically to combat retail theft and 15 million for more police patrols. this family from castro valley noticed the difference. >> we noticed a lot of cops out here, so it's pretty safe out here. >> another factor that could be helping union square bounce back is apec at the hilton hotel. they're seeing an uptick in reservations this holiday season . >> apec, the perception on the cleanliness and just, you know, san francisco shining in our neighborhood. and in union square, there's definitely a vibrancy and there's a good buzz. >> tourists jerry and barbara left with a different perception

of the city. we're in new york a couple of weeks ago and new york has nothing over san francisco this time of the year. okay we're going to make that the slogan right now. that's it. new york has nothing over san francisco. no. done. >> no, that's exactly right. >> period, period. but truth is, empty storefronts are a sign that more work is needed for union square to fully recover. in san francisco, luz pena abc seven news. >> a holiday tradition returned tonight in the south bay as people in san jose celebrated the opening night of christmas in the park and the official start of the city's holiday season. abc7's lauren martinez was there and shows us the festivities as it is a beautiful night for the opening of christmas in the park here in san jose. >> hundreds of thousands of people gather here for displays, trees and entertainers tonight. each year, the two acre plaza de cesar chavez is transformed into a festive park with over 40 musical and animated exhibits, glittering lights and the 60

heights and rough surf. so there's an increased threat of sneaker waves. don't expect many people to be going to the beach with this kind of weather. the wind is calm. the sky is clear. that means temperatures are plummeting in the north bay right now. looking at the 24 hour temperature change, it's anywhere from ten to about 24 degrees colder than at this time last night. so you can see that cold air is settling in san francisco is clear in clear view from sutro tower right now, under clear skies, 55 degrees here in the city and in san jose, it's 50 at mountain view, 50 two half moon bay and 44 at palo alto. and looking back at the skyline, a part of it from our exploratorium camera, 40 degrees in santa rosa and fairfield right now down to 39 in novato, napa, 42 and mid 40s at concord and livermore. one final live view looking across the embarcadero from our rooftop cold overnight with frost likely in the north bay valleys. we expect sunny days and cold mornings into next week and a slight chance of some rain beginning midweek next week. and we have a frost advisory in effect from 10:00 tonight to 10:00 tomorrow morning for the north bay valleys where low

temperatures will drop down to about 36 degrees or even lower. in fact, you can see we expect a low of 33 at santa rosa tonight. but some parts of the inland east bay and south bay will drop into the 30s as well. so it's going to be cold just about everywhere overnight. then tomorrow, sunny and bright. but not very mild. highs tomorrow, low 60s at the coast, low to mid 60s around the bay shoreline and only low to mid 60s inland. so here's the accuweather seven day forecast. we have two pretty cool days coming our way saturday and sunday, but under mainly sunny skies. temperatures bounce up maybe a couple of degrees on monday, but you may not even feel the difference. it's such a slight change. clouds increase on tuesday and there's a chance of showers on wednesday, thursday, possibly even into friday. but we have to hedge a little bit on that because right now the indications are not strong enough that we would post a storm impact scale label on. >> okay, maybe we'll put a number on it in a few days, maybe put a number on a couple of days or no number at all.

>> okay. >> yeah, we shall see. spencer thank you. moving on. we do have some breaking news to tell you about tonight. the former minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering george floyd has been stabbed in federal prison. that news first reported by the associated press. now it says derek chauvin was stabbed by a fellow inmate at the federal correctional institution in tucson, arizona. sources tell abc news chauvin is in stable condition and expected to survive. he is serving a 43 year prison sentence after being found guilty in the may 2020 killing of floyd. chauvin kneeled on his neck for nearly 9.5 minutes. floyd's death sparked nationwide protests. stay with us. we're
