[upbeat music] [cheers and applause] - welcome back, bachelor nation. well, it's been quite a night. and next week, charity's journey comes to an emotional conclusion. the big question now-- how is this whole thing gonna end for her? will dotun propose? will it be joey? and what about aaron? there really are so many different directions this whole thing could go. i was there, and, honestly, i couldn't even keep up. so here it is. here's a sneak peek at charity's final days in fiji, and it's more emotional and more heartbreaking than you can even imagine. [dramatic music] - i am in love, and i know that i am getting engaged, but i don't know who it's going to be. - i still see you as a wife. i still see you as the mother of my children. there's life coming back into me now. kissing charity just feels like this all wasn't for nothing. and i'm right back in it emotionally.

>> just beautiful. i could not how it was. dan: her daughter's body was found in a duffel bag while a music festival went on half a mile away. tonight, a mother sharing her story after the gruesome discovery at golden gate park. thank you for joining us. ama: we will get to that story in a moment, but first the latest developments in the fourth indictment against former president donald trump. dan: a grand jury in georgia handing out charges for trump and 18 of his allies for scheming to overturn the 2020 election in the peach state bid georgia prosecutors are leaning on a key criminal statute known as the rico act. ama: abc news reporter reena roy is in atlanta with the latest. >> these are for you.

jury has handed an indictment against donald trump trump and 18 other individuals related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election in georgia. >> the grand jury believed they were part of an illegal effort to overturn the result of georgia's 2020 presidential election. reporter: the indictment saves the former president and others charged in the indictment refused to accept that trump lost and that they knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the election than favor of trump the indictment goes on to say the conspiracy contained a common plan and purpose to commit two or more acts of racketeering. >> i am giving the defendants the opportunity to voluntarily surrender no later than noon on friday, the 25th day of august, 2023. reena: district attorney fani willis lunching the criminal investigation more than two years ago after former president

donald trump was recorded in a phone call, seemingly coercing the state's top official to find the votes to win. >> all i want to do is this. i want is defined 11,780 which is one more than we have, because we won the state. reena: t georgia secretary of state brad raffensperger could face possible legal trouble if you fails to comply. >> that is a criminal offense. reena: trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. >> we do not take plea deals because i did nothing wrong. reena: his team calling this a democratic witch hunt to score political points and have made repeated attempts in court to disqualify willis. it is worth knowing beforehand, no current or former president has ever been indicted.

ama: and we as soon as the news broke this evening. make sure you have the latest headlines as they come through the free abc 7 news bay area app. dan: back to what we mentioned at the top, learning more tonight about the woman whose body was found near san francisco's golden gate park. the body was found in a duffel bag sunday night near 22nd and fulton. investigators have not said anything about the cause of death, but j.r. stone that down with the mother is in castro valley tonight to hear more about her daughter's challenging life. j.r.: this is 37-year-old kelly koike, the woman found dead in san francisco's golden gate park sunday night. her mother described the conversation she had monday with the coroner. >> yesterday, to find your daughter in a duffel bag

walker finding her. j.r.: she tells us her daughter was living on the streets of san francisco and suffered from a mental illness, saying she had a lifelong passion for makeup and design, even changing her eye color to all white at one point. >> i know deep down in her, w thought this part here has some stuff here. but she got killed. j.r.: police will only say this is a suspicious death. investigators worked late into the night sunday at golden gate park, but so far no arrest. her mother says she the good times when they would go to benihana as a family.

she says kelly graduated from culinary school and worked as a concierge in san francisco, but the mental challenges that started in her teens eventually overtook everything else. roya says she feared daughter's safety in san francisco but was also fearful for her own safety when her daughter was home and not on medication. >> being homeless in the city, knew something bad would happen. j.r.: had been more open to receiving treatments that would have helped to get her off the streets. >> it is so sad. i know i am the mother, but i will show you pictures. look at how gorgeous. she was beautiful. was, i cannot believe it.

active weather, hundreds of lightning strikes, thunderstorms developing around the central coast and the hamilton area. tomorrow morning, we will start with drizzle, 50's and 60's. the next 24 hours at 1:00, cannot rule out an isolated shower. one thing you will notice is it is hot inland. already into the 90's and toward the afternoon, you are approaching 100 degrees. by 7:00 p.m., the warmth is still around inland but five-year on the coast bid i will let you know how long the triple digit heat will last. dan: thank you. now to the latest on the devastation in maui. the official number of debt has increased to 99, making it the deadliest wildfire in america in the last century. hawaii's governor says authorities will begin releasing names and victims -- names of victims who have been identified starting tomorrow.

about 1300 people remain unaccounted for. the state has secured roughly 2000 units of hotel rooms and vacation rentals as shelter for displaced residents. meanwhile, we are hearing from some affected residents who say a lack of coordination is keeping much-needed help from reaching fire victims. >> the response h -- the response has been mostly from our people. dan: gusting winds could reach 35 miles per hour starting tomorrow and through thursday. the expected weather is not the same set up as the dangerous conditions we saw last week, so that at least providing some sense of relief on maui. we have seen many of you asking about the emergency alert system failure in maui, so we have spent extra time looking at how this might affect you as part of tonight's abc 7 deep dive at 11:00. >> there will be plenty of time

for us to go back and learn lessons from maui and how the events unfolded, but we need to stay focused right now and making sure they have accurate information on what resources are available to make sure they understand they can register for assistance for fema. dan: that is fema administrator deanne criswell speaking today. earlier today, hawaii's gov says he heat disabled -- he disabled them. this got us thinking today. do our systems work here? how prepared are we? the answer depends on where you are in the bay area. in san francisco, sirens were disabled in 2019 because they were vulnerable to cyber security threats. in berkeley, solar powered sirens are being installed and

conditions and asking the city to address the job vacancies. the mayor says there paying attention to the budget office's projected fiscal impact before voting on the proposal. dan: our daily mission in building a better bay area means finding better education for our kids, especially as we kickoff after school season. tonight, we are focusing on how artificial intelligence is being used in the classroom. lauren martinez went to redwood city to see how the cutting-edge technology is included in the curriculum. >> how can ai be useful for students but how can it also be useful for teachers? lauren: victor lee, associate professor at stanford university, wants to bring the conversation about ai into classrooms for lee helped develop craft, a free curriculum resource for high school teachers. the goal is to offer access, answer questions about ai, all from a reputable source. >> we are trying to democratize

access to artificial intelligence as a body of knowledge so people are equally prepared and having meaningful conversations about what ai is, how it works, what issues we should be thinking about to use it responsibly. lauren: lee said they made a point to recruit 10 teachers to participate from a range of schools in the bay area and around the country. ai is a hot topic for high school students. >> they have a lot of questions and right now when people are uncertain about what ai means for the world, what it means for their future jobs, having that time and space and actually activities to go through to help them think through it. >> my methods for teachers and ai is to engage in conversations. lauren: jesse bustos is one of 10 teachers integrating the ai resource into his lesson plans. >> this was a topic the students are interested in. most students are using social media ai. lauren:

the bay area. tim: after a four year bake brick, chinese tourists may be coming back to san francisco. the first was an announcement last week by the american and chinese governments to allow more flights between the two countries, and the second, the chinese government's lifting of a pandemic era ban on tour groups visiting the u.s. >> before the pandemic, china was the number one on tourism bookings in san francisco. tim: major tourism market that has still yet to return to the bay area. >> before the pandemic, san francisco saw in the summer around 85%. tim: the influx of tourists might not come all at once, though. one travel agent says despite the increase in scheduled

sandia? sandhya: exactly. it will be a hot one tomorrow. alive picture here. the coast will not be hot. we have a shallow marine layer, tonight visibility down to half a mile in half moon bay. as he looked back towards san francisco, it was an active scene earlier in the day with the thunderstorms developing, hundreds of lightning strikes across the state. we do have a red flag warning for lake county until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. the fire danger elevated when you see thunderstorms developing. fortunately these storms did have some rain. this was north of mount hamilton that developed quickly and brought a few showers to parts of alameda county. we take a look at what brought all of this weather. it is this area of low pressure that has been lifting up tropical moisture and with the heating of the sun destabilizing the atmosphere, it will not go anywhere.

it will meander off the california coast so we keep that possibility in the forecast for tomorrow and even a possibility for wednesday. we have been feeling the low and tropical moisture the mugginess. the humidity is still up there. it is humid out there for parts of the bay area. tomorrow morning, the humidity levels will still be elevated as we head into the afternoon and evening and will come up a little bit. many will see dew points in the 60's so it may feel sticky to you. it is still warm inland in the 70's and 80's, 50's coast side. you can see just how foggy it is. visibility is poor. areas of fog and drizzle overnight. isolated showers, a chance, and thunder tomorrow. it is back-to-school west contra costa unified school district. 8:00 a.m. one the kids are off to school, partly cloudy, 60
