>> good morning, everyone. i'm carolyn tyler. thanks for joining us on this sunday, august 13th. let's start with a quick look at the weather with our meteorologist frances dinglasan. >> gray clouds once again. live doppler 7 and satellite image showing us the clouds and the fog that is starting to retreat back to the coast. it is still in parts of the bay. and temperatures will be in the 50s, 60s, even 70s in the next hour. then we'll warm up for lunch time and the clouds will pull back to the coast. still 60s there. but we'll see 60s and 70s around the bay and even 8 0s inland. we'll be a little bit cooler in some spots and we have got an even bigger cooldown on its way. i'll tell you more coming up. >> frances, thank you. we are following the latest developments in charlottesville, virginia. this morning a somber mood as an investigation begins the deadly violence there. a 20-year-old ohio man is

accused of plowing into a crowd of demonstrators, killing at least one person and injuring 19 otrs. it happened after violent clashes between white nationalists and rprotesters. abc news reporteter meganun hug joins us live now from charlottesville. good morning, megan. >> reporter: good morning to you. we are standing in the spot where that car plowed into a crowd of protesters. we're -- it is a very calm scene, but we're seeing a lot of sad faces, a lot of tears this morning. some people coming, bringing brooms here, saying they were trying to clear the streets and cleanse the area. others bringing flowers to this makeshift memorial you see behind me. you can see there are flowers, visitors paying their respects right now. there are balloons. this is the only indication that there was a deadly rampage here just yesterday. overnight, the charlottesville community holdin a vigil for healing, this after a day of

panic and chaos in the streets. car plowing through a crowd of counterprotesters, killing one 32-year-old woman, sending 19 people to the hospital. >> hit like two or three other cars and pinned people in between the cars, smashed into people. >> reporter: the driver, identified as a 20-year-old white male from ohio. it capped off a weekend of hatred and violence in the city, white nationalists swinging torches friday. the violence escalating saturday, as a white supremacist and counterprotesters clashed. the state of emergency declared. two virginia state police officers, lieutenant h.j. colin and burk m.m. batesd ie d ainhelicopter crash as they we assisting public safety. foul play is not suspected. president trump speaking to the nation denouncing the violence, but not the white supremacists specifically. >> we condemn in the strgest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and

violence on many sides. >> reporter: the governor of the state ofir vgiani did have a messa message. >> a have a message, go home. >> reporter: after refuse ing to respond to questions yesterday, the white house this morning releasing a statement, quote, the president said very strongly in his statement yesterday that he condemns all forms of violence, bigotry and hatred. and, of course, that includes white supremacists, kkk, neo-nazi and extremist groups. in charlottesville, virginia, megan hughes, abc 7 news. the woman who died has been identified as 32-year-old heather higher. the black student union at the university of virginia tweeted her photo saying they'll never stop fighting for her. she is a virginia native, a candlelight vigil is planned for heyer in her memory tonight in charlottesville. california congresswoman

house minority leader nancy pelosi issued a statement, condemning the violence and criticizing the president saying, quote, the president's talk of violence on many sides ignores the shameful reality of white supremacists in our country today and continues a disturbing pattern of complacency around such acts of hate. here in the bay area, protesters held their own demonstrations to remember the victims in virginia. and to protest the white housee harrington has the story from union square. >> reporter: candles light up san francisco's union square for a silent protest. demonstrators cover their mouths with tape, an act to symbolize this moment, when president donald trump ignored a reporter who asked if he wants support from white nationalists, like the group at the center of violent clashes in charlottesville. >> black lives matter. >> reporter: a much louder protest echoed through the streets of oakland.

supporter, calls this weekend's violence horrible. but he argues white nationalist groups have been around for decades and in this case, all sides need to take responsibility for their own actions. >> we have to stop this fighting and protesting and screaming and go home, hug our families and look for a way to unite our country. >> reporter: alisa harrington, abc 7 news. more charlottesville are happening nationwide today. here are just some of the events orre in the bay area. ze rnigaallireesrs in san jose, novato, sant kra cr cruz and castro valleys. those attending are being encouraged to bring their own signs and flashlights to show solidarity. protesters attending last night's rally in oakland momentarily marched on interstate 580 near grand avenue. this is video taken by a reporter for uc berkeley student newspaper, the daily towel.

protesters took over all lanes of traffic around 9:30 last night, some setting off fireworks. police and the highway patrol cleared thest ibo mironute ps. it is unclear whether any arrests were made. running back marshawn lynch appeared to stage a silent protest in his first game as an oakland raider while other players sod during the national anthem before the game against the cardinals. lynch was photographed sitting on a cooler. head coach jack del rio says lynch told him he always sat during the star-spangled banner. del rio says it is a nonissue. lynch is a native of oakland and in the first year of a two-year, $9 million deal with the raiders. colin kaepernick sparked controversy same issue. in the north ba ba ba ba is living with relatives after serving time in los angeles county in the jail there for

the family up, two adults, thro. firefighters say they stopped the flames from spreading to the rest of the house. developing news out of union city, two families are homeless after a car crashed throughd mi. the alameda county fire department says the crash happened just feet away from station 32 on alva rauto boulevard. first responders found a pickup truck on the lawn and a bmw in the home. police say the drivers were racing down the street moments before. both drivers and a passenger ran from the scene, police have one person in custody. fortunately no one in the dleupx was hurt. operations are back to a security mishap inaernttional cause ed an evacuation and security sweep. passengehers sseha prehotos of the long, long lines at tsa checkpoints yesterday. after officials decided everyone

today is last day of the outside lands music festival. fans are hoping the lineup will stay the same after a big letdown yesterday. a tribe called quest canceled friday, then was rescheduled for last night, but later an alert went out saying their show would not go on. abc 7 news reporter lisa gulezian has more. >> reporter: this alert flashed on outside land screens just as a tribe called quest should have been taking the twin peaks stage. it is supposed to be their reschedule after canceling because of travel delays. >> it is abummer. we had tickets today. we thought we would get lucky and see them. i saw the it is canceled again. >> it sucks. we have been having fun all day. not quite sure why they got canceled. maybe there is other reasons. >> reporter: organizers blame further travel complications for the double cancellation.

nationalists who organized this event, or to call the current incident domestic terrorism. this morning, that comment, denouncing bigotry on many sides, is under fire. even from some of the president's republican colleagues. senator ted cruz put out his own statement calling the attack a grotesque act of domestic terrorism, posting that the nazis, kkk and white supremacists are repulsive and evil. and all of us have a moral obligation to speak out. senator john mccain tweeted, white supremacists aren't patriots, they're traitors. america must unite against has redd a hatred and bigotry. and senator orrin hatch, we should call evil by its name. my brother didn't give his life fighting hitler for nazi ideas >> no matter our color, creed, religion or political party, we

are all americans first. >> reporter: also under scrutiny, the time it took the president to respond. as these horrific scenes were unfolding, first response from the white house came not from the president, but the first lady. she tweeted, our country encourages freedom of spee let's communicachte wit,hout ha in our hearts. no good comes from violence. #chaottesville. it took her husband 40 minutes more to send out his first tweet. reporters saw sought to press the president -- >> do you want the support of these white nationalist groups? >> reporter: he ignored them. david igwr a,htbc washington. and then after the president's comments about virginia, he sat down to signno veterans medical care. that bill will pump more than $2 billion into a program that vet medical care at government expense. it addresses a budget short fall at the department of veterans affairs that threatened medical care for thousands of veterans.

dinglasan. clouds pulling back from the north bay coast and live doppler 7, you see it spilling into the san francisco bay. things change. i want to pull out and show you the satellite image with the trough. this is going to be approaching overnight tonight into tomorrow. that's going to bring us drizzle overnight and much cooler temperatures. but for now, we can enjoy this beautiful shot as we look out towards the bay bridge, waters are calm right now. we'll get sunshine there later on. san francisco, currently 55 degrees, oakland, 59. 60s in mountain view . 64, san jose 65. this time we're looking from the east bay hills, still see some of those clouds pushing through before they clear back to the coast. lots of temperatures ie 60s in santa rosa,th n 62. napa at 59. mid-60s through novato. fairfield, concord at 63, livermore at 64 degrees. from emeryville, looking west cisco, still gray out here an anright now.

we're dealing with morning fog, around the coast, and along the bay shoreline as well. partial clearing at the coast. we saw some of that in the north bay. and then get ready for much cooler temperatures tomorrow. we'll be well below average. so in the next hour or so, we'll start to see the clouds continue to retreat. and then by this afternoon, clouds just along the coast, starting to see more in parts of the north bay than from san francisco down towards pesk daro. clear in santa cruz. areas of light green are where we'll see some pockets of drizzle tonight. 9:00 tonight, even in parts of the east bay it will continue overnight into tomorrow morning. we'll have a little bit of a wet start, maybe wet pavement, maybe need your wipers on your way to work. but then we'll see sunshine tomorrow afternoon as well. highs today will range from 60s at the coast to upper 80s inland, even a few low 90s. san francisco 66 degrees. really nice in the east bay with temperatures in the 70s. oakland, 71.
