summoned to return to iran. they were arrested a year ago. they claim they were just hiking. >> alan: multiple police agencies across california are searching for man they say snuck into a berkeley home and raped a young girl. investigators say omar sosa broke into the house through an unlocked window. we're live at becomely police headquarters. >> reporter: police around the state are on the lookout right now. but berkeley police say residents of this city should be reassured this suspect is no longer in town. there is an arrest warrant out for this man, 27-year-old omar sosa. he is wanted for rape, sod sodomy, false imprisonment, oral cop koch laying and sexual battery. he broke into a home and raped a young girl that lived there. >> we believe the suspect is fleeing south in an attempt to

get to mexico. we alerted all of our sister agencies all the way down to the border. >> reporter: it happened just after 6:00 yesterday morning. on a usually quiet street near the albany border. this yellow crime tape is the only visible sign that remains of the attack. neighbors say they've hey gone from feeling safe to being on the lookout. >> it's really shooking. it's usually a really quiet neighborhood. >> i hope it gets other people to lock their doors if the aren't already. >> reporter: this woman plans to make the change. >> makes you leery a little bit, to think someone can come into your home. >> reporter: police aren't say how old the victim is. sosa fled before authorities arrived at the house. they believe he may have hurt his hands or fingers during the assault. originally it cass was called a stranger rape.

but the detectives now believe the family knows sosa. while police aren't saying what the relationship is, records show sosa may have lived next door. >> the victim has been very cooperative in assisting us and we have been able to put the pieces together with her help. >> alan: that was cecelia vega reporting. in the north bay, police are using for three suspects who used pepper spray to rob a consignment store. the latest incident happened friday morning at the home consignment center on tamalpais drive. investigators say two men pepper-sprayed customers and employees in the store, then smashed glass display cases and stole jewelry amp third suspect drove a getaway car.

>> closed captioning brought to >> alan: just as temperatures are dropping, the st. bonaface is opening their doors. the church also provided two meals a day for residents at the shelter. the winter shelter program is a collaboration between church groups and the human services agency. it's been helping homeless men for 22 years. volunteers from project feed passed out sandwiches to the homeless in the ten kerr -- tenderloin district today. it's open to people of any faith. they get together to give their time and money to help those in need. >> important to me because it's a way for me to give back to the community i'm in. it helps me out spiritually,

mentally. it's a benefit to me and also a benefit to the people around me. >> alan: the volunteers gave out 600 sandwiches near the church. the group delivers food to the homeless once a month. st. anthony's kicked off its 23rd annual curbside donation drive. the foundation will serve 4,000 turkey dinners but needs to collect 100 turkeys reach day to serve everyone. today donation valets gathered 88 turk yes. st. anthony's is asking people to give warm clothing and dried or capped bulk food. they get 70% of their denations in november and december each year. it's been helping the needy for 60 years. the latest figures show this could be a better holiday shopping season for retailers. mastercard says during the first
