♪ >> steve: good morning, everybody. it is 6:00 a.m. on the east coast. it is friday, march 15th. beware the ides of march. and this is "fox & friends." we start with a fox news alert. hamas reportedly presenting a cease-fire proposal that would trade hostages for prisoners. how many? what are the details? we will talk to former israeli ambassador to the united nations, dana gannon. he is going to be with us in about 90 seconds. >> ainsley: to another alert we are awaiting a decision in the d.a. fani willis' fate in the georgia case. >> brian: current and former athletes are suing the ncaa over transgender policies. riley gaines is leading the charge. she will join us. >> lawrence: "fox & friends" begins right now and, remember, mornings are better with friends. >> ainsley: straight to auto fox weather alert. several suspected tornadoes tearing through central ohio, indiana, and kentucky leaving behind a trail of destruction. >> brian: about 30 minutes ago police in logan county, ohio,

confirming at least six people are dead. 19 others in the hospital. folks who live in the area northwest of columbus say their town is in a shambles. >> laundromat is gone. the old plastics building is just completely demolished. downtown it's bad. very bad. >> lawrence: folks in indiana and connect. kentucky. a number of severe injuries. search effort ongoing for the people who are uncounted for. >> steve: let's get right to janice dean with our fox weather forecast. that map is all lit up. >> janice: the national weather service did an excellent job where we could see the severe weather texas great lakes across the ohio river valley. it's early though to get tornadoes in parts of illinois, indiana, and ohio. and we have tornado warn storms right now happening as we speak for the border of mississippi and alabama.

a tornado warn storm for monroe and up towards tennessee. looks like a tornado warning south of the winchester area. these storms are happening right now as people are asleep. that's the worst fear. they have no way to get the watches and warnings. the threat will continue. it will be ongoing today. really from texas across the gulf coast in towards the southeast, including some of thieves big cities like atlanta, georgia, montgomery, alabama, jackson, mississippi. so there is texas. there is the warned area and as we go across mississippi and alabama, again, the possibility for large hail, we have seen hail in excess of 4 inches in diameter. so, the hail, the damaging winds and the tornadoes and, of course, the national weather service is going to go out today and assess the damage but already, you know we can tell that's from tornadoes. over 90 reports of tornadoes within the last 24 hours in some of these areas. so there is your forecast today. we still have that front and the area of low pressure that's moving across the gulf coast, the southeast, and then the cold side of this storm, we haven't even talked about the snow in colorado.

it's all part of a wider system that has brought widespread damage not only the severe threat but the snow. we still have i-70 closed down and people are urged to stay inside with more snow to come this weekend. over to you guys. >> steve: lots of weather to talk about. all right. j.d., thank you very much. >> lawrence: thanks, janice. >> steve: another fox news alert. this is big news. reuters is reporting that hamas is you now floating a cease-fire proposal to israel. and details had been sent to the united states and mediators as well. >> lawrence: so the hamas plan reportedly includes the release of hostages in exchange to 700 to 1,000 palestinian prisoners according to reuters. the terror group says it would hand over women, children, the elderly and the sick first. >> ainsley: hamas is also demanding a permanent cease-fire, a withdrawal of israeli forces from gaza as well as major increases in humanitarian aid. >> brian: israeli prime minister benjamin's office says the proposal includes unrealistic demands.

among those hostages -- excuse me, prisoners that they want out is about 100 of whom are serving life sentences many of which have for murder. let's bring in danny, a member of israel's knesset and former ambassador to the united nations. ambassador, great to see you. first off, your reaction to this proposal was it done directly to you guys? was it from qatar, egypt or are you getting this through the media? >> good morning, brian and everybody. you know, first of all, we are happy to receive some response from hamas because we are waiting for a while for that we [inaudible] we appreciate the involvement of the media in this process. you know we are not happy with the details of the proposal. but it's an opening. we are willing to continue with the negotiation and what i would tell is you that this morning we are willing to pay a heavy price to bring back the hostages, talking about children, women while in captivity, the atrocities in the town of hamas that we learned about.

but one thing we will not compromise and that's our demand not to stop the war until hamas is eradicated. that's the core issue. on that issue we cannot compromise. on the other we are open for discussion. we are open to pay a heavy price. we want to see those hostages back home. >> ainsley: ambassador, it just doesn't seem fair. wouldn't you do one hostage for one prisoner? we want to release what is it 132 hostages that are still there but they want exchange for 700 to 1,000 of their criminals that are being held in israel? >> you are absolutely right. you know. in the past when you look at the deals we had with hamas a few months ago, we exchange one israeli hostage for three hamas terrorists. and we have to remember. people committed massacre. the one who invaded israel on october 7th committed the

atrocity they want to ask to release them now. that's also more discussion we will have to discuss in the government. whether we agree to that or not, you know, we meet with the families. we know we cannot wait much longer but at the same time, we have to make sure that we are not releasing people who will endanger israel in the future. >> lawrence: you know, ambassador, we were shocked to hear this yesterday from senator schumer who our majority leader in our country but is he calling for a new election he criticized netanyahu. >> if netanyahu remains in power after the war begins to wind down and continues to pursue dangerous and inflammatory policies that test existing u.s. standards for assistance, then the united states will have no choice but to play a more active role in shaping israeli policy. i believe a new election is the only way to allow for a healthy and open decision-making process

about the future of israel. >> lawrence: ambassador, how do you feel about one of our leaders getting involved in your election? >> we are shocked. i say we because it's from left to right. people were shocked to hear the words of senator schumer because one of the goal issues that we have in common with the u.s. is democracy. the value of democracy. and we decide in jerusalem when we will have elections and who will be the prime minister. it's not a banana republic that someone else would decide who will be the leader of israel. the people of israel voted netanyahu to lead the nation. and today we are united for the goal win this war against hamas. and after that, we will decide what to do. we will have our political mechanism. we don't need anyone, including anyone who considers himself a friend of israel from d.c. to tell us what to do. >> steve: right. mr. dannon, how much do you think this has to do with elections in israel and how much does it have to do with the declaration here in the united

states? because joe biden is losing a lot of support from democrats over his stance with you. and essentially maybe chuck schumer is just waiving his finger at benjamin netanyahu saying essentially you have got wrap this up. >> absolutely. i think we have conflict of interest and schedules. you have elections in november. and we understand the pressure. at the same time, we have a different calendar. we care about winning back the hostages. we care about defeating hamas. maybe you should not walk according to the schedule of theist elections but we have to look at our own interest. we have to do what we have to do in gaza. even if it's not comfortable to the u.s. today. >> brian: and fighting until did you go into rafah because that's where hamas is hold up. betty gantz who would be the prime minister's opponent in theory. many people thought, is also against what chuck schumer said. saying israel robust democracy and only its citizens will

what are you doing? meanwhile to another fox news alert. we are awaiting a decision from a georgia judge on whether fulton county district attorney fani willis will be removed from donald trump's election interference case. >> lawrence: maddy rivera has more on that. >> madeleine: scott mcafee should have a decision today. could determine if the election interference case moves forward before the november election. willis maintains she did not financially benefit from the investigation as a result of her relationship with special prosecutor nathan wade. regardless, her headaches are only growing. house judiciary chairman jim jordan is investigating whether her office has misused federal funds. and in a letter to willis jordan says we appreciate that you have produced a narrower set of documents in response to the subpoena, but your compliance to the subpoena to date is deficient. if you fail to do so the committee will consider taking further action. such as the invocation of

contempt of congress proceedings. if willis is disqualified, it would be a big win for former president trump who is looking to delay the legal proceedings against him a federal judge in florida yesterday dismissed one of trump's motions to toss out his classified documents case on grounds of inconstitutional vagueness. judge aileen cannon says i don't see how it leads to the dismissal of indictment. maybe a defense at trial. but there's a chance trump's hush money trial in manhattan won't start on mash 25th as planned. that's because manhattan district attorney alvin bragg says his office received thousands of pages of more records from federal prosecutors. in light of those documents, bragg says we do not oppose an adjournment in abundance of caution and ensure that the defendant has sufficient time to review the new materials. we therefore november the court notify the court wedo not opposf adjournment not to exceed 30 days. matt whitaker will be joining "fox & friends" to weigh in on all of this and what this could mean for former president trump.

>> ainsley: let's turn now to more headlines, a man is critically injured after being shot with his own gun on a rush hour subway train in brooklyn. look at the cover of "the new york post." the man reportedly pulled out a gun after becoming very aggressive with another commuter who was wrestled, who did wrestle the gun out of the first guy's hands. and then fired multiple shots towards that aggressor. this shooting comes just days after new york's governor kathy hochul deployed 750 members of the national guard to help boost safety throughout our subway system. james crumbly, the father of michigan school shooter ethan crumbley, is found guilty on four counts of involuntary manslaughter. in 2021, ethan killed four of his classmates and hurt many others and a teacher. he was sentenced to life in prison. his mother, jennifer, was also found guilty on the same charges last month. jennifer and james will both be sentenced next month. i believe on the same day. and police say a suspect has been arrested in the attempted

kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl in arizona. watch this. the victim was walking home from school earlier this month when a car pulled up next to her. a man exited the vehicle and began following her the girl was able to get help from someone out walking their dog who called police for help. the police were able to find the suspect after piecing together some information from surveillance video. how scary. chicago's measles case count has risen now to 12. two more midieval cases were announced yesterday. six children. including ones in public school and six adults have it. at least 98 migrants have been taken to a chicago area hotel to quarantine as the department of health announced all eligible people at chicago's largest migrant center are getting vaccinated to contain the outbreak. president biden's staffers quickly shoeing away the press when just moments before biden

some pushback and then a slow gradual increase in ways in which players can make money. and the bigger programs with bigger sponsors and bigger boosters get the most money. and the kids, instead of going to schools because the academic environment and the size of the campus, maybe the history are saying hey, coach, how much will you pay me to go? so the name of the game and the way this game has been played and run has totally changed. and they, perhaps, are looking to congress to come in and say, give us some parameters because we want to be saved from ourselves. >> steve: that's one of the researchers nick saban was called in a couple days ago to testify on capitol hill at a round table. he made it very clear. nil, name, image, likeness, has had a bad impact on college sports. what we have now is not college football. all the things i believed in for all those 50 years of coaching no longer exists in college athletics. that is stark, given the fact that he is one of the most famous college football coaches

in history. he sat down with bret baier via satellite. i think he was at his new retirement home down in south florida. talked a little bit with about the future of college sports and, in particular, how college athletes could actually cash. in and here is what nick saban had to say. >> instead of having a collective, driven name, image and likeness, i thought a revenue sharing with name, image and likeness would be a lot better system. that would be able to continue -- we would be able to continue to support athletes and athletics in all sports. you know, football and basketball are going to be fine because they are revenue-producing. all the non-revenue sports have always been funded by the revenue sports and we want to continue to be able to do it. really, you go to college to create value for your future. i want the quality of life for student athletes to be the best it can be, and i think they should have a seat at the table. and i think they should share in

some of the revenue. i think it needs to be equal across the board. i think what congress needs to do is we need some national legislation because now we just have, you know, state legislation and every state is different. that would protect the ncaa from litigation. once we, you know, establish guidelines for the future of college athletics. >> lawrence: should it be equally applied across the board when it comes to coaches? should coaches all get paid the same way? should they all get the same endorsement deals? the standard that they are -- i have a lot of respect for coach saban. i think is he a fantastic coach. the reason why they're losing in court is because you can't do this to players anymore. there was once a point in time where the players just took it. and you got to use their name and you got sell their jerseys. and you got put them in commercials and take the money. but, the courts have found that you can't do that it's stealing from the players. and i understand that they want to fund other programs in the schools but you got to be

creative. so if you want the players to start using some of their money that they have earned with their name and their hard work. name buildings after them. get them to donate. if you think you are going to be able in a modern society be able to take their money from them, that they have earned it's not going to happen. >> ainsley: two things i think the players should get some sort of a compensation to pay for going to a movie or taking a girl out to dinner because they get free housing and free food. many of them don't have -- they can't call their parents and say put 100 bucks in my bank account because their parents don't have it. if they're going to use their name, some sort of a compensation would be good. the other thing he was talking about he said what he found was he wanted to develop his players but they were leaving to go to states that were going to pay them more money. >> brian: in the portal and put themselves as free agents. >> ainsley: he said we need national legislation because it's state by state right now. someone might leave a good team and go to another team for better opportunity and more money. >> brian: there is salary cap in sports. there is free agency.

there is limited free agency. it depends on the league. then they have to add this in, dartmouth just unionized. the players unionize? arch manning hasn't played one down in texas is the second highest nil because of his second last name. bronny james played seven minutes a game in usc. but his dad is so famous, he gets the money. we don't know about his future earnings. >> steve: brian, he talked a little bit about dartmouth unionizing. we spend on average $95,000 per college athlete. if you are a college employee of a school, essentially that would -- you would be that if you unionized, you would have to pay tax on the $93,000. so do you really want to do that? that was his argument. >> lawrence: i think they should pay taxes and give them financial literacy. >> steve: no kid wants to pay taxes. >> lawrence: they are nokids. that's the part people keep mentioning. these aren't high school athletes. these are adults and using their names and not wanting to pay

fulton county d.a. fani willis will be removed to from donald trump's georgia election case. they expect to hear a decision some time today. maybe within our show. this coming just days after a judge quashed six counts, three against donald trump and although the rest of the defendant, too. matt whitaker served as acting u.s. attorney under president trump a.m. and joins us now. join the new york case. all of a sudden the southern district of new york dumps thousands of pages of documents from their research of this case over the course of years on alvin bragg's desk at the same time the trump team says we would like a delay until after the immunity case. so that was quashed. but, what about this alvin bragg comes out and says, i will give you the quote, matt. although the people are prepared to proceed trial on march 25th. we do not oppose an adjournment in the abundance of caution and ensure the defendants have

sufficient time to review the materials. your thoughts? >> well, my first thought is alvin bragg has to actually look at these documents as well and his office was preparing for trial. scheduled for march 25th. so thats with a right around the corner. but the defendant certainly has time to prepare for that case as well. and i think what they are going to find since the southern district of new york declined to prosecute that case is they are going to find that their case is probably even weaker than they thought and it may be exculpatory. there may be evidence that is actually very helpful to donald trump. so i think this is a good break for the former president and i think, you know, we will see if this case continues to deteriorate. but this is never the left's scheme of using lawfare against donald trump. this was never the first case they wanted to go. >> brian: what you are saying those documents didn't lead predecessor from charging trump. they would have loved to charge trump. they helped the prosecution. judge denying former president

trump's motion to dismiss the charges in the documents case. they used as evidence selective prosecution compared to hillary clinton and compared to president biden. that's just one of the two things the judge has to look at. your thought? >> so there is actually seven motions to dismiss. two of them were heard yesterday. one was denied. but, you know, the malicious prosecution, the selective prosecution case is still around. and, remember, you know, the judge aileen cannon even said in court is this the first president or vice president ever charged under the espionage act and the government had to admit yes. i think as we look at this case. you know, how dr. conan whether it was mar-a-lago and other raids, the archives never cared whether or not the tapes that were found in bill clinton's sock drawer were even classified or not. they just determined that those were personal and therefore bill

clinton didn't need to turn them over. this is a very clear argument. is this the first time that a president's decision on whether it's presidential or personal weapons questioned by the archives and raid home. this is the first time, brian, it's very concerning. >> what do you expect to happen in georgia? >> so the judge has already dismissed six counts. i think the conflict of interest is pretty clear now. you know, this judge is not going to probably decide this case on the credibility of the witnesses even though, you know, willis and wade and bradley probably we you a saw them with their own eyes they were not credible witnesses. is he going to find that the evidence shows that there is a conflict of interest. i think is he going to kick not only willis and wade off the case but most likely the fulton county d.a.'s office and then it goes to the prosecutor's counsel in georgia to reassign the case to another d.a.'s office. >> brian: this is the most liberal county in the state. you have got to think there is a few scenarios that would benefit

outkick contributor. good morning to you, riley. >> good morning, ainsley, thank you for having me on. >> ainsley: why this lawsuit? >> i will tell you, the ncaa, their most basic job is to protect the fairness and safety of competition in collegiate sport. instead what myself and other countless female athletes have seen is that the ncaa is discriminating and continues to discriminate against women on the basis of our sex. and so this means they are failing at their most basic duties to provide fair, equal, and safe competition for women. the most important part of this lawsuit, what we're hoping to achieve is fair and safe competition. that's what this is about. we want the ncaa to uphold the original intent of title ix. >> ainsley: when you talk about safety it's not just on the court or the field it's in the locker room, too? >> of course. speaking for myself and my own personal experience, we had our privacy entirely violated. when the ncaa allowed a 6422-year-old man who was fully

athletes i believe will join onto the lawsuit. >> what is the ncaa like? what is their response to this? i'm sure you have had conversations. is did a board? how many make up the board? >> >> as you can imagine, the ncaa has been pretty cowardly about this situation as a whole. charlie baker the ncaa president, he sat in front of congress and the senate of plethora of times now and has been unable to answer any questions surrounding this issue. senator josh hawley asked him seven questions in a row to which charlie baker said i will get back to you in writing. they don't want to touch this. they don't want to handle this or accountable or responsible. which is why their policy now they are in this phase out approach. they want to leave it up to each specific sport governing body to make the rules for their own sports, which shows you they never really stood by the initial policy they had in place the blanket ban that was 12 months of hrt for men to be then be able to compete in the category that best aligns with
