biggest day on the presidential primary calendar. the first polls on super tuesday in vermont and up in maine with more set to open very soon across the east coast. >> brian: 15 states are holding races today on the republican side you got 854 delegates up for grab. that's about 70% of 1215 total delegates needed to secure the nomination. >> steve: here is the current state of the race, former president donald trump is in the lead as you can see right there with 273 delegates after gaining 29 in the north dakota primary just last night. meanwhile, nikki haley has 43 delegates so far. be sure to keep it here. both donald trump and nikki haley will be with us today in the 8:00 hour to discuss the state of the race. >> lawrence: meanwhile on the democratic side there are seven states with uncommitted options. we will see if president biden faces a big protest vote like in michigan. all right. good morning. welcome to "fox & friends" on

this tuesday -- super tuesday morning. >> ainsley: a big day. as we were saying -- you were saying you need 12:15 to get the nominee. trump has 273. there are 854 on the republican side up for grabs. so, if he gets all of those, he would get -- he would have 1127. >> steve: almost. >> ainsley: not enough to secure the nominee but almost. >> steve: his campaign is thinking he could secure it up in the next week or two. lawrence, you mentioned a moment ago, uncommitted. how many people will vote uncommitted today. and will it come anywhere close to the number we saw in michigan last week where it was 13%. the sean probably not. although the best chance for a lot of uncommitted voters are in the great state of minnesota. apparently and keep in mind there are far fewer arab americans in minnesota than in michigan. >> organizers are honing for 10,000, which is just a fraction of it. but, they are looking ahead to

next week in washington state where the goal is to get a lot more. >> lawrence: i think the push is and if you look in the crowds when the pro-hamas -- pro-palestinian protester it's a diverse group of people talking about their sympathies for the palestinian people and they are anti-israeli, anti-jewish in many cases and the goal is, according to rashida tlaib is to send a message to joe biden, if you vote uncommitted, it is to tell the president that you want some sort of cease-fire. >> steve: right. >> ainsley: you know, will it be enough to make a difference? in the last election they had one delegate, but it doesn't send a message to president joe biden which way is he going to do? we saw kamala harris flip a little bit on this because she was pro-israel married to a jewish man. but, then a few days ago. she was saying let's have a cease-fire. we demand a cease-fire. >> brian: head to head, trump has a shorter policy on israel.

so much at stake right now even though donald trump has a precipitous lead. 854 delegates up for grabs in today's primary. so let's go through most of the states that are in play. close contest you got to be republican. semi open contest you can be independents and the open contest can you just register that day and we can see it. so, as you look it right here, the purple are the closed. and i think it's pretty clear that donald trump does have his pockets of support there but, if you look at an area like california, which does have a share of moderates and disenchanted democrats you will wonder if he this take that opportunity. oklahoma is pure red you understand where that comes up. i find thin treeing, colorado for the longest time has been a purple state. i'm wondering with denver being overwhelmed by illegal immigrants being somewhat open to voting hard right or open to somebody viewed by many to be a little bit more moderate and that is nikki haley. as we go through right now closed contest, registered republican in order to get in there utah, california, oklahoma, also reliably red also

for california except for places like orange county and portions of the middle of central california. the semi open contest will be open to independents. again, we're back in colorado where there is a lot of people disenwant thatted with the current stated of events. and jared polis feels a sudden urgency to talk strongly on the border and act like a moderate. for people who saw him in congress, they are not falling for it. i find this extremely intriguing. especially when it documents gubernatorial race because north carolina has had a democratic governor. there's a sense there that democrats feel as though they can grab this like obama did in the second time around when he went for re-election. it went to trump. it was narrow win the second time around in 2020. democrats feel they can target it here. other people feel as though there is excellent chance for republican in robinson to getting that spot. as we look here at the open contest, where you could decide the day of, you know what? register as independent and create some havoc? this is where i think if you are democrat and you want nikki haley in the race, in the back

trump should be on the ballot and instead the 2024 version of one flew over the cuckoo nest. you played all those soundbites, no matter how this came back that was going to be the reaction. we saw, for example george conway the michael avenatti of legal analysts on the cnn calling the supreme court fundamentally incoherent and a shoddy legal work in terms of their conclusion. you had abc's jonathan karl somehow coming away with this take away. despite win strikes blow to trump's central campaign theme. trump's central campaign theme his opponents are trying to take him out in the courtroom instead of the ballot box. that's the whole crux of this argument. should voters decide whether donald trump is president or not or some partisan judges or partisan secretaries of state do that? i think leaving it in the hands of the people is something that many would agree with even

griff jenkins joins us live from eagle pass, texas with more. griff, how disappointing for people that want border security? >> well, in arizona, republicans there in the legislature wanted to do what texas did. you are right, the supreme court has blocked at least until next week super bowl 4 next -- s.b. 4. group of migrants columbia and peru on the other side of this fence. of if this law were in effect it would make it a class b misdemeanor for first time crossers, punishable up to six months or for repeat offenders a second degree felony. and it would require texas judges to return migrants who illegally cross back to mexico. now the migrants there will be here for several hours. the national guard not doing anything and not letting them through the fence. let me show you some video right where we were yesterday. we had a dozen or so migrants that were from venezuela and columbia that came around the corner here and got through the fencing and were taken into custody. that's all a part of it.

but the numbers are very small here. take a look at some of the footage we have seen in recent days of the thousands crossing in arizona. that's ground zero. tucson sector. every single day is leading with 1500 to 2,000. now, about arizona's law, it would also have made it illegal to cross into arizona. from the bill i can read to you just a piece of it here. it said, quote. any unlawful immigrant find and imprisoned for not more than six months or two years for offense. you are right. democrat arizona governor katie hobbs took the veto pen to it, listen here. >> this bill does not secure our border. on the contrary, it will be harm 68 for communities and businesses in our state and a burden for law enforcement personnel. i know there's frustration by the federal government's failure to secure our border. but this bill is not the solution. >> and finally, brian, you can't overstate how much the migration surge has moved out west.
