>> would we be able to have bystander intervention cards, please? >> this card is for when you're being hara harassed. it says you got me. you hand it to someone else, givens you instructions on how to help you. maria: .maria: bay area rapid t looking to stop harassment. they can distribute cards informing and requesting assistance from bystanders. krysia, let's thing it out. you're getting attacked on the train, you go in the pocket, grab some cards, give them out to bystanders, your thoughts. >> this has to be one of the stupidist, most dangerous ideas i've heard from woke policy makers. really, someone like aoc would come up with this, she's an expert in everything, because it's so aloof, out of touch, you

have to be out of touch to think pulling out a card will protect you as opposed to having a police officer protect you from violent crimes which are seen on our subways, in our transportation systems every day. i mean, san francisco, there was a survey that said over 50% of people who are in the the transportation, have been on transportation experienced an attack. the same thing in new york. attacks are increasing every single day and these r cards will do absolutely nothing. maria: the cards state someone is harassing me right now. and then it lists options for helping, can you stand with me while this is happening? if i ask, would you text bart police. use the bart watch app or contat the train operator for me. why do i need a card to tell the guy next to me to help me if i'm getting attacked? what am i going to do, give me all your money, i have to get my card to give them out. >> we have have lacked common

sense today. i mean, at this point this is so juvenile, maria. this is what's happening in the woke liberal cities. instead of attacking the problem head on and saying we need more law enforcement, we need to enforce the law, we need to lock up criminals, by the way, good samaritans don't want to help people today. they're terrified. you had a man in new york who fired a warning shot to help a woman who was being mugged. the mugger wa wasn't arrested ad arraigned. it was the individual that fired the warning shot. we are unsafe. nobody will help with a card or a warning cry, like please help me. maria: this is so naive to think while you're getting atacked on the subway system you'll have the time to go in your pocket, get cards, hand them out to people. >> i mean, i don't even know what to say. when i first -- maria: it's so -- >> when i read about this, i thought it was a story from the onion, that's trying to make a joke. maria: yeah. >> it's just shockingly naive

of a government, right? i mean, the city of san francisco. to think that this actually has any meaning or any bearing whatsoever. maria: and why does a card need to tell a b bystander to help. you're a bystander, you see someone getting attacked, you're going to go get help. >> or you'll intervene yourself. for crying out loud, you need a card to tell you what you're witnessing with your own eyes right in front of you? maria: i would like to know how much the program is costing these geniuses. >> it's mind boggling. >> it's such a waste of taxpayer dollar. this is what liberal cities do. they continue to defend this outrageous behavior, defund our police and put the burden on good bystanders and they're opting out. nobody wants to help each other. they're going to be locked up. good people are locked up today. maria: i wonder what das have to say about this, the same d as who are processing people and letting them out on the streets. >> they probably think they're doing the good lord's work.

thea alvin braggs out there thik they're doing the right thing by standing up, quote, u unquote, r the little guy or the under-served member of our society, dot, dot, dot, illegal aliens glt be the underserved -- maria: i'm told it's $35,000. so it's a paltry sum that this is costing but still it seems wildly ineffective. >> from an ideological perspective, the fact that this is out there is costing us because this is resulting in bystanders stepping down because they feel like they have to read some sort of card on how to act. and this is why we have wonderful people who step up like daniel penny in new york, the marine, who they're getting punished as a result of all of this propaganda. i would say this is propaganda, if anything. maria: all right. let's take a short break and come right back. when we come back president biden speaks with xi jinping for the first time since november, putting the focus on the two
