three of california's largest utilities sparked more than 2,000 fires in 3 1/2 years. let's bring in former gubernatorial candidate john cox. california regulators cite -- i can't get over the story. we have been reporting the fires. the state has find these companies 9 times for safety violations. people died because branches were not cleared, john. >> yes it's a tragedy. the utilities in california have a bad history. they have been one of the biggest swamp creatures, spreading money all over sacramento. now they are feeling the effects of these politicians going after them. i have got to tell you, the politicians have also not covered themselves in glory. they have failed time and again to manage the forest.

forced a cnn reporter to delete an accurate tweet about what she initially said. what's your take on that, steve? >> well, it shows that they are actually not quite as slick an operation as you would -- as had been reported. there's been a lot of talk about how she's really got -- had that professional launch in oakland and is very much the head of the pack. this is a basic thing to get your policy nailed down, so i'm surprised to see them going wobbly on it at such an early stage. but there's something really underlying all this, i think it's important to bear in mind, which is just the idea that you are going to run a health system in this centralized way that you are going to have one centralized health care system for a vast country like america. it's so laughable, it's just completely ridiculous, and that point about centralization i think doesn't get made enough. yes, there's the cost. the ridiculousness of running it all -- liz: that's why california
